Trechos do livro “I Am That”, de Nisargadatta Maharaj.
Maharishikaa addresses a concern about Ramana Maharshi's self-inquiry non-dualism practice being misrepresented as Shiva Dhyan asks for Maharishikaa's interpretation. Unromanticizing the fog that surrounds certain practices given by Ramana Maharshi, Maharishikaa lays bare how his teachings and practices have been butchered by Westerners on the path of spiritual awakening. She comments on the immense cherry-picking of Ramana Maharshi's teachings, which began with the first books that were written and popularised in the West, including works of Paul Brunton. She further explains how the crucial aspect of surrender, as well as the context of Guru-shishya Paramparaa—under the aegis of which these practices were transmitted to those students who were in surrender to Ramana Maharshi as their Guru—was completely left out, undermining the principles of Advaita Vedanta and self-inquiry non-dualism. These isolated, cherry-picked practices—popularised by the author who eventually left Ramana Maharshi as well as new-age neo-advaitin Western gurus posturing as disciples of the lineage - have now become the starting point for many young spiritual seekers on the path of Neo-Advaita. Practices like the ‘Who am I?' or Neti-Neti, which were originally not practices but questions and experiences arising along the self-realization journey, now lead to havoc in the minds of young seekers who practice these disconnected teachings, ending up entirely confused and disoriented. They arrive at Maharishikaa's satsang seeking the sanity they feel they've lost by taking up these disconnected practices while seeking the experience of oneness and spiritual awakening. Maharishikaa brings the discourse back to Shiva, reminding him that instead of hanging around in tea shops and reading spiritual books, it's time to take up the saadhana, the practice of surrender to the Soul. #Maharishikaa #SelfEnquiry #RamanaMaharshi #NetiNeti #GuruTradition Aaryaa Maharishikaa Preeti Maiyaa, is a revolutionary female mystic who fearlessly dares to demystify spirituality in her unrelenting call to realize Self, and act from Source. Many spiritual teachings show us that form is empty—but few guide us to see that emptiness itself is form, alive and breathing through the body. This meditation invites a full return: after glimpsing the formless, we come home to the body, where the subtle intelligence of life unfolds in sensation, breath, and movement. Here, emptiness and form are inseparable, and self-realization becomes an intimate, felt experience rather than a distant concept. Using imagery of evolution, nature, and cosmic lineage, the meditation dissolves the sense of separation between observer and observed, revealing that your breath, sensations, and aliveness are inseparable from the intelligence of the whole. You are invited to rest fully in the present, release the mind's narrative and the illusion of control, and allow your body to reveal the effortless unfolding of existence. This is a selection of non-dual pointers taken from Jean Klein's texts, 'Dialogues with Jean Klein' and 'The Flame of Being.'Jean Klein (October 19, 1912 – February 22, 1998) was a French author, spiritual teacher and philosopher of Advaita Vedanta (Nondualism). He was born in Berlin and spent his childhood in Brno and Prague. Having left Germany in 1933 for France, he secretly worked with the French Resistance in the Second World War. Klein was a musicologist and doctor, traveled to India where he was influenced by Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon, studied Kashmir Shaivism and was sent to the West to teach Advaita Vedanta. He is regarded as one most eloquent communicators of non-duality in the second half of the 20th century.
This is Part 1 of our 4-part A Back to School Series on Live Vedanta. From navigating loneliness and evolving friendships to maintaining family connections from a distance, this conversation offers Vedantik tools for clarity and self-rootedness during young adulthood. Whether you're starting college or simply stepping into a new chapter, this episode reminds you that even through change, you can grow with intention and connection. In this episode, Sumanji sits down with Akshaya to explore what it means to live away from home while staying anchored within. Having grown up always hearing from his parents, “we want you to be happy, we want you to be independent,” Sumanji strove to do just that in all the ways society and the world had to offer. Leaving medical school in hopes of achieving more fulfillment through a career in IT, Sumanji found himself still wanting, wondering what it meant to be truly happy, truly independent. It was clear happiness was what everyone desired for themselves and each other, but it remained ever elusive. It was then that Sumanji went to his first Satsang in Pittsburgh, PA, and met Shri Vivek Gupta, who shared with him the knowledge of Advaita Vedanta. Convinced and compelled that he, too, could experience this for himself, Suman joined the two-year residential Vedanta course under the guidance of Pujya Swami Prakashananda at Chinmaya Mission's ashram in Trinidad & Tobago.Returning in 2018, Sumanji now lives in Providence, RI, where he works full-time as an Information Technology Manager. He serves Chinmaya Mission Niagara and Cleveland through various classes and study groups, traveling every opportunity he gets to share the message that gave his life meaning: that perpetual, independent joy is one's nature.Register to be a part of our Seeking Culture CommUnity for young adults.Edited by Dhruv Panicker.Follow Seeking Culture on Instagram

Podcast: This week on the show we feature a pre-recorded in-person conversation with OM C. Parkin at Gut Saunstorf near the Baltic in Germany. We discuss the intention behind Gut Saunstorf as a modern monastery, the impact that digitization in the external world has on our ability to do internal work, and more. OM C. Parkin is a renowned European wisdom teacher and the initiator of the OM Foundation Inner Science and the publishing house for wisdom literature advaitaMedia, the founder and director of the mystery school Enneallionce—School of the Fourth Way, and Gut Saunstorf Monastery—Place of Stillness. OM embodies in his work the link between Eastern non-duality and Christian mysticism, of depth psychology and philosophy, beyond the limits of religions and confessions. He often references the tradition of Advaita Vedanta, which has been revived in the 20th century by Shri Ramana Maharshi, Shri H.W.L. Poonja, the American Gangaji, and that of the Fourth Way of G. I. Gurdjieff. OM acts in the tradition of these teachers and by being rooted in early Christian teaching. His work in the tradition of silence can be described by three functions: teacher (of wisdom), healer (of the soul), seer (of the heart). He has been supporting people to find their true nature for more than 30 years and founded the modern Satsang movement in Europe. More information about OM C. Parkin's work can be found at: OM C. This piece is a gentle ode to idleness—a meditation on the quiet, miraculous fullness found in simply sitting, watching, and being. With the sea as a companion and the sky as a witness, we explore how presence asks nothing of us but attention. In a world that constantly demands productivity, this poem offers permission to pause, to be thoroughly unuseful, and yet feel more whole than ever. Through images of waves, wind, and distant sails, we are reminded that being present with whatever arises can be one of the deepest spiritual 'achievements'. If this reflection speaks to you, I invite you to journey further in my new course W(hole)ness (on Insight Timer & my website)—a slow, spacious return to the essence of who you are. In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, host Stewart Alsop speaks with Ryan Estes about the intersections of podcasting, AI, ancient philosophy, and the shifting boundaries of consciousness and technology. Their conversation spans topics like the evolution of language, the impact of AI on human experience, the role of sensory interfaces, the tension between scientism and spiritual insight, and how future technologies might reshape power structures and daily life. Ryan also shares thoughts on data ownership, the illusion of modern VR, and the historical suppression of mystical knowledge. Ryan Estes reflects on how podcasting revives the richness of dialogue, countering the flattening effects of modern communication platforms. The evolution of language might have sparked consciousness itself. Drawing on theories like the bicameral mind, Estes explores how early humans may have experienced internal commands as divine voices, illustrating a deep link between communication, cognition, and early religious structures.AI is not just a tool but a bridge to new kinds of consciousness. With developments in cognitive ergonomics and responsive interfaces, Estes imagines a future where subconscious cues might influence technology directly, reshaping how we interact with our environment and each other.Ownership of software, hardware, and data is emerging as a critical issue. Estes emphasizes that to avoid dystopian outcomes—such as corporate control via neural interfaces—individuals must reclaim the stack, potentially profiting from their own data and customizing their tech experiences.Virtual reality and AI-generated environments risk becoming addictive escapes, particularly for marginalized populations. Estes likens this to a digital opiate, drawing parallels to spiritual ideas about illusion and cautioning against losing ourselves in these seductive constructs. The suppression of mystical traditions—like Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, and indigenous knowledge—has led to vast cultural amnesia. Estes underscores how historical power structures systematically erased insights that modern AI might help rediscover or recontextualize.Despite the turbulence, AI and AGI offer a radically optimistic future. Estes sees the potential for a 10x productivity boost and entirely new forms of work, creativity, and leisure, reshaping what it means to be economically and spiritually fulfilled in a post-knowledge age.
The Ashtavakra Gita is a short treatise on Advaita Vedanta which systematically deals with the mystical experiences of the individual in their quest for truth, transcendental peace and bliss. It was composed before the common era, most likely between 500-400BC. Some scholars claim it was written later, either in the eighth century by a follower of Shankara, or as late as the fourteenth century during a resurgence of Shankara's teaching. The subtle philosophical truths are expounded in the form of a lucid dialogue between the teenager sage Ashtavakra and his royal disciple, the King-seer Janaka. To Ashtavakra, Self-knowledge through direct mystical intuition is the only goal to be reached and experienced in the dynamic silence of one's own deepest meditation.Translated by Bart Marshall

After giving two talks establishing God (Proof for God & What is God in Tantra?) a in response to various objections from non-theistic traditions like scientific materialism, Buddhism, Sāmkhya & Advaita Vedanta, we are now left with an interesting question: what about the Problem of Evil? The usual response to this dilemma from the theistic position is to assert free-will. God is indeed all-powerful and all-good and because of that goodness, God cannot be a tyrant and so affords each individual the dignity of free-will; the reason there is any evil in the world at all then is because individuals abuse this free will to harm one and another and God, tragically, will not intervene since to do so would be to rob each individual soul of its most basic dignity, its freedom to choose. In his 1893 world-famous "Paper on Hinduism", which he delivered at the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago, Swami Vivekananda also points out that without the theory of karma, God would be quite despicable. Why are some people born cripples and others healthy? If there are no past lives, then God is the cause for one person being born poor and another rich. Would this not be a capricious God who arbitrarily decides what each embodied soul's starting point will be, putting some further ahead on the track and others further back? No, a better explanation is that God is not inflicting these things upon us but that we ourselves, with our actions good and bad in past lives have ourselves created the chain of cause and effect that have led to our current predicament, for better or for worse. It is up to us to take responsibility for our karmic predicament, without blaming the all-good, all-powerful God and to seize upon our free will to make better choices, in thought, word and deed that don't only create better karmic situations for us in the future but ideally, that take us beyond the wheel of karma entirely! However, here is a complexity: there is no free will (as I will try to show in the talk).Yes, there might be the illusory feeling of free will that God creates in the soul but ultimately, if God is to be all powerful then she is also Absolute, and absolutely non-dual. She it is who plays the role of the individual, she is the world in which the individual has its being, She it is who is pulling the strings the whole time! Not even a leaf moves but by the will of God! But philosophically, look what has happened! If we say ultimately souls don't have free will and that Mother is doing everything, then, free will is no longer available to us a defense against the problem of evil! Now, we have to accept that God is all-good but also...all-bad and somehow, beyond both good and bad! In short, we have to accept the theology of Kali, the Worship of the Terrible, the highest calling of the non-dual theist. Enter only those who dare misery love. TLDR: in this talk I present my favorite view which is Absolute Theism leading to determinism on the individual level to maintain Absolute Freedom on the Divine level which invites a whole new kind of challenging theodicy! In this landmark sixth chapter of The Journey Beyond Death, we begin a new arc titled “Mystics & Seers” by welcoming two of the most piercing voices in spiritual inquiry: Jeff Berwick and Shunyamurti. Together, they unravel what lies beyond this world—and how to reclaim the truth buried beneath illusion. Jeff Berwick, founder of The Dollar Vigilante, challenges the very nature of reality. Is this world a divine simulation? Is death just a shift of levels in a cosmic game? Through years of intensive meditation and consciousness experimentation, Berwick offers raw, revolutionary insights: that fear is programmed, death is misunderstood, and freedom begins when the mind surrenders. Shunyamurti, spiritual director of the Sat Yoga Ashram, takes us even deeper—into the still center of being that never dies. With razor-sharp clarity and mystical presence, he explores why the soul incarnates, how ego fragments the Real, and what it means to awaken before death. His message: You are not the body, not the mind, not even the story. You are the eternal light watching it all. This episode is not for the casually curious. It's for the seeker standing at the threshold, ready to cross. Death is not the end. It is the illusion we must transcend to truly live. ------------------------------ Featuring in order of appearance 01:00 - Metaphysical Seeker & Sovereignty Advocate Jeff Berwick 44:00 - Spiritual Master & Founder of the Sat Yoga Institute Shunyamurti -------------------------------- Jeff Berwick is a financial iconoclast, spiritual truth-seeker, and founder of The Dollar Vigilante. After building and selling Canada's largest financial website, Stockhouse.com, Berwick spent years traveling to over 100 countries—seeking freedom, truth, and a deeper understanding of reality beyond the mainstream matrix. One of the first analysts to call Bitcoin at $3 and Ethereum at $2, Berwick also teaches that we're living in a cosmic simulation—a spiritual “video game” where awakening means reclaiming our power from fear, control, and illusion. Through his media platform Vigilante.tv, bestselling book The Controlled Demolition of the American Empire, and his annual Anarchapulco conference, Berwick fuses financial independence, metaphysics, and radical self-liberation. In our existence in this world, we carry the burdens of duty, judgment, and anger—and then we project them onto God. But reality? He's just playing His flute, dancing, and inviting us back into a life of divine play (lila). In today's Wisdom of the Sages, Raghunath and Kaustubha reveal a revolutionary truth rooted in the Upanishads, the Vedānta Sūtra, and the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam: the Absolute Truth isn't weighed down by judgment or duty—the Absolute's only “business” is joyful līlā, or divine play. So why all the suffering and conflict in this world? Somehow it all makes sense.
