Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show I am your Special Host Richard Wray Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business. My very special guest today is Scott Montgomery ... In this episode, Scott Montgomery discusses his unconventional path to success in building his company Worldgate, which now has over 100 employees. He did not have a traditional education but found opportunities by partnering with others and building trust. His relationships with mentors and customers helped his business grow organically over time. Scott emphasizes the importance of having a supportive partner and knowing your customers' needs before launching a business. While he struggled in school, Scott was able to leverage his self-awareness and people skills to create success unconventionally. He has now written a book capturing lessons learned and wants to pay forward guidance to help others pursuing entrepreneurship. Key Moments: Scott found unconventional success through relationships and trusting partnerships, despite not having a traditional educational background. He started in real estate but was drawn into corporate consulting through connections, leading to the founding of his company Worldgate. Worldgate supports school districts by implementing business systems and providing staffing/project support. Scott attributes much of his success to the people he surrounded himself with and trusting relationships where they learned and grew together. His book outlines lessons from his unconventional path to success, focusing on relationships, partnerships, and self-awareness. Scott sees value in "paying it forward" through coaching and mentoring others now in his career. Having ADHD was initially challenging but taught him self-awareness that helped him succeed professionally. Strong partnership with his wife was also important, including in raising their family. Common mistakes of entrepreneurs is assuming people automatically want what they're offering without testing interest first. It's important to have some customers and product viability tested before fully launching a business.

A conversation about nuclear energy, climate change, and inspiring young women to go into STEM fields. On December 15, 2022, Grace Stanke, a senior at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, studying nuclear engineering, took home the Miss America crown along with the scholarship of the Miss America Organization. She additionally won in a talent category for her classical violin performance. As Miss America 2023, Grace is embarking on a year of service taking her on a tour across the country and she is using her national platform to continue advocating for “Clean Energy – Cleaner Future.” She believes that America needs to convert to zero-carbon energy with a focus on nuclear power and breaking down misconceptions surrounding nuclear energy. Through it all, her goal is to inspire the next generation of female scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. With increasing interest in, support for, and desire to become more informed about nuclear energy and how it can help mitigate climate change, combined with the wonderful goal of inspiring young women to enter the STEM fields, the evening promises to be interesting and inspiring. Scott Montgomery, University of Washington faculty from the Jackson School of International Studies, will be the interviewer for the event, and a Q&A will complete the evening. This special event is made possible by Friends of Fission Northwest and the generosity of the Anthropocene Institute, American Nuclear Society-Eastern Washington, Energy Northwest, Terrestrial Energy, and Town Hall Seattle. In a perfect world, on-premise storage infrastructure is refreshed every five years. That timeframe isn't realistic for law enforcement agencies. The benefit of using cloud resources is that it removes the need to buy all new hardware. As a cloud services provider, AWS handles the refresh so that organizations always have the latest storage and pay for only what they need. Often backup systems in agencies take the form of a NAS device underneath someone's desk. In the event of a natural disaster, everything would be lost. Even if the backup wasn't destroyed, there may not be access to it, and the operation would be down. With cloud storage, mission-critical systems can continue to operate simply because the system is in a separate location.

As the European Union as well as member states create swiftly changing policies affecting clean energy initiatives, their energy decisions show significant variability. Recent events emphasize both the need for and the challenges to establishing a unified approach to securing supply for EU states and for improving energy independence within the EU. As emerging technology revolutionizes energy markets, it has never been more important for European countries to synchronize their standards on protecting critical energy infrastructure, including electric grids, Smart Grids, gas pipeline sensors and wind and solar technologies. This symposium will showcase cutting-edge research on where the European Union is headed on energy security and what the U.S. and the EU can learn from each other. -- Scott L.
