When using presentation slides it's important to consider the needs of the audience. This means incorporating the slides into the presentation in such a way that the speaker remains connected to the audience at all times. Unfortunately, some presenters have a tendency to turn away from their audience and read directly from the slides themselves. This isn't an effective way of delivering presentations. In today's episode I share how to present effectively whilst using presentation slides. The 5 Steps to Public Speaking Success online programme is available to buy now. In today's Bankless Summit talk, we hear from Matt's experience and wisdom so we can learn how the rise of blockchain technology contrasts with the rise of the Internet and why we are here in the first place. ------

Send us a textWhy is it that whenever we sit through a presentation whether that's an internal one or one at an event or one in a sales pitch format do we more often than not have to encounter slides that are largely packed with lots of words? And when I mean lots of words, I mean more than five or six words on a slide. In this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast I want to talk about words on presentation slides.I believe that we should minimise the words on the slides. I ran a poll on LinkedIn recently asking the question ‘what was the purpose of having words on slides?'Almost half of the respondents said the words were there as a prompt for the presenter which suggested to me that most people think as a presenter the slides are there for you to read fromSo what does that say? If you're reading the slides I think it says one or both of these things:Firstly you've not done enough practice so you need the slides to tell you what to sayAnd secondly you might not know about the subject so you read the slides to sound as though you doEither way that's not great. So folks here's the challenge for you next time you deliver a presentationStart with one word and then add to it if you really need to.Please please please avoid slides with loads of bullet point sentences! So come on folks help me rid the world of presentation slides cluttered with loads of words!Find out more about my work with business presentersI've got two more autumn webinars coming up - 20 fast paced minutes and free - all you need to do is register by clicking on the title of the webinar: Tues. You've brought a fresh energy to CCL's work in 2023! Join Elli Sparks and Brett Cease for a training that will review how to use this momentum to help raise funds for CCL/CCE. No other organization trains citizens to be heard by their government the way CCL does. Chances are your friends and family are proud of your work and will want to support it. Elli and Brett will review how you can use new resources to create any of the following: A Facebook fundraiser: anyone in your chapter can host an individual fundraiser for CCL — an easy and lightweight option. A donation party: Gather your friends and families together for an in-person celebration, like a backyard barbeque. At the party, share a bit about your involvement with CCL and why it matters, and ask for donations. An activity a-thon: Set a goal and collect pledges from your friends and family. Your challenge can be anything — number of miles run, games of chess won, mittens knitted, or conversations about climate change. Here's your chance to get creative! The transition away from fossil fuels and toward clean energy will require massive amounts of metals that go into the production of electric vehicles, batteries, induction stoves, wind turbines and solar panels. Do enough of these metals exist to get the job done? Where can they be found and can they be extracted in a sustainable manner that doesn't lay waste to our environment? For answers, we turn this month to Dr. Adam Simon, Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan. His work focuses on the global flow of energy and mineral resources with an emphasis on the geologic availability of energy critical metals. Adam has co-authored two textbooks and published seventy papers in the field of energy and mineral resources. As we see an increasing number of culturally diverse patients in our US-based practices or on the mission field, our understanding of cultural influences in healthcare and our own biases is essential. How can we develop an eye to see where a patient’s values and worldview may differ from our own? We will review an approach to cultural humility highlighted by medical missions case studies.
