1-12 from three didn't matter. Being down 16 didn't matter. No Deivon Smith didn't matter. St. John's found a way to win as they have all season. Through suffocating defense and timely baskets from Kadary Richmond, RJ Luis Jr, Simeon Wilcher, and Zuby Ejifor the Johnnies got it down in OT in front of over 14,000 fans. Richmond had his best game in a St. John's uniform and when it was all said and done St. John's remained in first place and sweeping Xavier for just the third time ever.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
From Kadary Richmond setting the tone, to Zuby Ejifor cleaning up down low to Aaron Scott filling in the gaps, it was an complete team win on the road. Xavier is always a tough place to play for the Johnnies but on Tuesday they made sure to never let up. Simeon Wilcher made key baskets late as St. John's used their defense to harass Sean Miller's group into submission.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
St. John's kicked off their season playing the Fordham Rams for the 91st time in program history, and they left no doubt. A dominating 92-60 win, that allowed Rick Pitino to empty the bench and showcased a ferocious offense. In front of a Sold Out Carnesecca Arena, St. John's kicked off it's season with a bang. Simeon Wilcher had a career high 17 and Kadary Richmond did what he does, stuff the stat sheet.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb

Getting through the dog days of summer without college basketball is never easy. Thankfully, the college basketball carousel rarely slows down. St. John's has begun summer work outs and practices and we're under 120 days till the season starts. I'm joined by Zach Braziller of the NY Post and Roger Rubin of Newsday to give some early thoughts on the roster, how they will mesh, Simeon Wilcher's expected new role and more.We discuss the last addition to Rick Pitino's team in Ruben Prey. We talk about the recruiting landscape in college this summer, and each make a BOLD prediction for the Red Storm this season.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
St. John's needed to hit two home runs after their first few additions, and on Monday and Tuesday this week they hit back to back dingers. Deivon Smith, one of the best guards in the portal, a lightning fast play maker from Utah committed to Rick Pitino and St. John's on Monday. Kadary Richmond, from Seton Hall, followed Smith the next day coming over the bridge and discarding his Seton Hall blue for St. John's red. This dynamic back court may be the best in the Big East and in the conversation for best in the country when paired with Simeon Wilcher and stud incoming freshman Jaiden Glover.I'm joined by the host of Tri-State College Basketball Podcast and former News 12 NJ Sports Anchor Bryan DeNovellis and Zach Braziller of the NY Post to break it all down from both the Seton Hall side of things and St. John's.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
When St. John's needed their best game of the season, they got it. Behind 27 points from Daniss Jenkins and 18 points from Jordan Dingle, the Red Storm took down #15 Creighton inside Madison Square Garden. It was a complete game, one where they had a halftime lead and never let it go. A complete game, with tough defense, and performances that stood out beyond the box score. Simeon Wilcher, Glenn Taylor Jr. and more powered St. John's to a season saving win.Joined by Kevin Connelly of Stormthepaint.com to help break it all downFollow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
St. John's is 13-7 on the season, 5-4 in conference play following a 20 point win over Villanova. They snapped a three game losing streak following a three game winning streak, battling adversity, COVID-19, and more. St. John's hosted media day on 10/17/23 for it's Men's basketball program. We got to hear from coach Rick Pitino, speak to the entire roster, and watch practice. While there are expectations in Queens, Rick Pitino is steadfast that this team has a lot of work to do. The one thing that is for sure is they are ready to play someone other than themselves and the Rutgers exhibition is going to be the first real measuring stick for this roster. We have injury news, NBA scouts at practice, some great anecdotes from Simeon Wilcher, and a great story from Brady Dunlap about his dad changing his jumpshot in 7th grade leading to tears, but also great success.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb

Jarin Stevenson committed to Alabama on Wednesday over North Carolina and Virginia. Combined with GG Jackson's decommitment and Simeon Wilcher's decommitment, it might feel like a “sky is falling” moment. However, it's not that and it's not an indictment on UNC recruiting, but rather, it's a sign of the times. In this one-year-at-time approach to school, players look more at the short-term opportunities rather than always a full educational commitment. The second Hubert Davis basketball camp wrapped up on Wednesday and the current players beat the alums this time around 71-68. Elliot Cadeau didn't played because of a lower body injury, but RJ Davis, Cormac Ryan, Harrison Ingram, Jae'lyn Withers, and Armando Bacot started for the current players. The USA women's World Cup roster was announced on Tuesday and two Tar Heels – Emily Fox (1st appearance) and Crystal Dunn (2nd) both made the team. The Tar Heels have now had multiple players on all nine USA women's World Cup rosters. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

How will Coach Davis utilize these three? Will he use one on Elliot Cadeau? Will he give any to walk-ons to avoid potential drama of having scholarship players at the end of the bench not playing?Leaky Black took place in the G League Elite Camp over the weekend. North Carolina has lacked a true shot-blocking defensive presence for quite some time now. Walker Kessler brought that, but didn't get enough playing time for it to play a massive role. There's been a rumored connection between Creighton SG Trey Alexander & the Tar Heels, although Alexander is not in the transfer portal. However, Alexander is in the NBA Draft. Despite Alexander not being in the portal, it's still an interesting conversation to have. He is a rising junior who can absolutely fill it up from beyond the arc. Alexander is definitely worth a look, however, Carolina already has six guards on the roster (RJ Davis, Seth Trimble, D'Marco Dunn, Simeon Wilcher, Cormac Ryan, Paxson Wojcik). Should Hubert Davis add another backcourt player to the mix? Alexander is also in the NBA Draft and could theoretically stay in, although he's projected as a mid- to late-second rounder. Coach Pac Kilby shares his thoughts on Marcus Pagie's addition to the staff and why he'll be such an important addition to help the backcourt players. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
