Inside Carolina basketball analyst Rob Harrington joins Tommy Ashley to discuss the returners for Carolina Basketball, Isaiah Denis, Jaydon Young, and Jarin Stevenson and the importance of having some semblance of a core year over year within a college program, especially in a coaching transition.  Denis, a versatile defender, is seen as a potential asset despite limited playing time last year. Young, with ACC experience at UNC at Virginia Tech, brings athleticism and shooting. Stevenson will be expected to start. Harrington and Ashley discuss the possibility of a senior year breakout for Stevenson - akin to Kennedy Meeks and Brice Johnson - and what that could look like under new head coach Michael Malone. The conversation also touches on the impact of the new coaching staff, led by Malone, and the importance of continuity with holdover coaches in Sean May and Pat Sullivan along with Eric Hoots.  This show is part of a series over the course of the next several months where Harrington and Ashley discuss key aspects of Carolina's program under Malone and how the shape of the roster and coaching staff will impact the direction of the program both this upcoming season and beyond.  Visit the No. 1 site for UNC sports coverage and community: http://www.InsideCarolina.com Founded in 1994, Inside Carolina is universally viewed as the authority on Tar Heel sports and recruiting. As Barnes points out, Sean May and Pat Sullivan are key for continuity around the program and the supporters of the program but hiring successful college coaches for the other seats on the bench will be beneficial in all areas. The conversation touches on the financial aspects of roster building, mentioning North Carolina's previous spending of $14 million and the need for smart investments. North Carolina announced on Tuesday evening that Hubert Davis has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the UNC Basketball program. Davis coached the Tar Heels for five seasons, making the national championship in his first season but struggling with consistency throughout his time on the UNC bench. This season, Carolina ended the season with three straight loss for the first time in 56 years, just a season removed from losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Inside Carolina's crew of Sherrell McMillan, Greg Barnes and Rob Harrington join Tommy Ashley for a live reaction show discussing the news and how the decision came to be. Barnes highlights the process to get here since that season ending loss, and the trio discusses the problems that Davis could never correct or overcome in his time at Carolina.  The panel discusses the next steps in the process and the coaching search that will occur as North Carolina moves into the next era - and an era without a member of the Carolina Family at the helm of the basketball program. The Yellow Jackets have given UNC fits across the sports down in Georgia and while the 2026 Tar Heels are - on paper - a much better team that Damon Stoudamire's group, winning is never a given down there. Inside Carolina's senior reporter Greg Barnes joins Tommy Ashley to preview this weekend's game and the IC pair discusses the keys and the need for Hubert Davis and his team to get the win on Saturday.   This show is brought to you by Inside Carolina, the No. 1 site for UNC sports coverage and community. Hello my friends across the interwebs. After an extended hiatus, here I am with a new blues installment just in time for the holidays. The next few days I will be smoking cigars, watching an assortment of fantastic DVDs that I bought recently, cramming sweet treats into my yap and thoroughly enjoying myself just as an abandoned middle aged man should do. This desolate path of solitude does have it's perks. For instance, I just turned the volume all the way up and blasted Future at midnight because I wanted to jump around with the dog for a bit. This week alone I've watched The Outlaw Josey Wales, Home Alone, The Bourne Identity, The Da Vinci Code and Scarface on Blu-Ray. Multiple football games and the UNC Basketball game as well. Being alone on Christmas does in a way feel like Tyson Fury just socked me right in the kisser. BUT I do get to watch football with the dog, scratch my toes and listen to Black Sabbath records so it's FINE. I did get a super sick tapestry for Christmas too so I'm on fire over here. Keisha I hope you get to rip into something super duper sick tomorrow. I might get myself another Christmas present or two. Insider baseball, I saw some wicked hot Lennie Rosenbluth autographed stuff on eBay. 1957 NCAA Player of the Year that was guarding Wilt Chamberlain in the championship game, no big deal. Met him a few years back and he couldn't have been nicer to me. Him and his wife. He sadly passed last year and I need a piece of Lennie history in this podcast room. Since I'm slowing down on the recording rate I will be upgrading the sound system in here for super wicked hot personal listening seshes. Why am I giving you an ear beating about Lennie Rosenbluth on Christmas Eve? I hope you enjoyed My Blue Christmas. If you want a more up-beat Christmas pod check out last year's Home Alone house music Christmas episode. Have a great Holiday break, everybody. Thank you for being hereYour Fav Disc Jockey,Old Saint Sickolas
