Life's most painful moments often carry the seeds of our deepest transformation. In this powerful episode, author and scholar Simon Haas joins Wisdom of the Sages to illuminate how the Bhagavad Gita frames personal crisis—not as a detour from the spiritual path, but as an integral part of it. Known as Vishad Yoga, the yoga of crisis, this ancient wisdom reveals how despair can become a gateway to awakening. Through the lens of Arjuna's breakdown on the battlefield, Simon explains the four universal symptoms of a dark night of the soul: •  Intense suffering tied to time—fear of the future, lamentation for the past, and confusion in the present •  A powerful urge to withdraw from life or even give up •  Confrontation with parts of ourselves we'd rather not see •  A feeling of complete helplessness, where even our best tools no longer work Rather than avoiding these moments, Simon shows us how to recognize them as sacred rites of passage—times when the soul is being reshaped by divine design. Learn how to navigate the inner battlefield with the guidance of yoga philosophy, and why the teachings of Krishna to Arjuna offer a timeless blueprint for turning breakdown into breakthrough. Key Highlights: •  Why suffering often precedes spiritual evolution •  How to listen, surrender, and evolve when everything falls apart •  Why the world's greatest spiritual texts were born from suffering •  Practical tools from the Gita for navigating emotional crisis This episode is a profound companion for anyone going through grief, loss, disillusionment, or inner change. Let the Gita be your guide through the shadows.

Two art museums are showing exhibitions of Bosworth's work: the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is presenting "Barbara Bosworth: The Meadow" through December 1. The show features photographs of a meadow in Carlisle, Massachusetts and near the Concord River that Bosworth made over 15 years, pictures that investigate time, human presence, and nature. The exhibition was curated by Karen Haas. In 2015 Radius Books published a book of Bosworth's "The Meadow" pictures accompanied by texts by poet Margot Anne Kelley. "Barbara Bosworth: Sun Light Moon Shadow" is at the Cleveland Museum of Art through June 30. The exhibition offers Bosworth's photographs of light, including eclipses, sunrises, and sunsets, many of which were made near Bosworth's childhood home in eastern Ohio. It was curated by Barbara Tannenbaum. The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas is showing "Haas Brothers: Moonlight" through August 25. The exhibition, which highlights the fusion of art, design, and technology in the brothers' practice, shows work made by twin brothers Nikolai and Simon Haas both inside and outside the museum. The Haas Brothers have previously had solo exhibitions at the Katonah (NY) Museum of Art, the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, Ga., and at the Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach, Fla. Simon comes from a super talented family -- his mother's an opera singer, his father's a stone carver, and his older brother, Lucas, is an actor who you may remember from Mars Attacks and Witness -- and then there's Simon and his twin brother, Nikolai, aka: the Haas brothers, movers and shakers in the art world with pieces featured at the Smithsonian, LACMA, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In today's session, we talk all about the similarities between cooking and sculpting, his interest in high and low culture, the traveling he did as a kid with his family, and his favorite place to eat in the world. We also talk about holding on to your inner voice in both cooking and art-making, when to listen to critics, being a control freak and an emotional eater, and how he got the confidence to do what he does. We re-launch just as SCAD begins deFINE ART 2021, an event that brings together an international roster of culture-defining arts leaders to engage with audiences in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia, through curated experiences and encounters with thought-provoking work. The three-day event is open to the public, and many of its exhibitions are on view through the summer of 2021. Included in this year's star-studded lineup of contemporary artists are this episode's special guests, the Haas Brothers. Twin brothers Nikolai and Simon Haas are unstoppable forces in art and design. Their work transcends "rules" of what is functional and what must be displayed. The two create with playful whimsy and profound handcrafting skills. Through the plethora of joy brought about in their creations, they pronounce acute conversations on sexuality and identity. That's who the Haas brothers are, conversation masters through visuals as well as words. Today's conversation was recorded virtually with Paula Wallace zooming with the brothers from their deFINE ART exhibition "Beast in Show," a Seussian display on view at the SCAD Museum of Art now through July 3.

for this 75 min Jivamukti Open level class, the asana is oriented around inverting and backbending and then we put it all together with scorpion (Vrschikasana). You will need some wall space for the second half of class and a sense of adventure. the dharma of this class is inspired by Simon Haas' imagery around being in the here and now, and we chant a traditional mantra to the guru:  om ajnana-timirandhasya / jnananjana-salakaya / cakshur unmilitam yena / tasmai sri-gurave namahI offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master, who has opened my eyes, which were blinded by the darkness of ignorance, with the torchlight of knowledge. to protect our world, it's important to make the "field of now" a sacred space, free from negativity.if someone carefully protects this space- the field of now -she protects the full extent of her perceptual universe. this is because all of life unfolds in one place only; the here and now.this is the arena of life.
