Welcome everyone to the 26th episode of Professor P's Podcast. This year, once a month, I will be bringing you entrepreneurial tips. The topic for this show is GRIT, which is important in the foundation of being an EMPOWERED entrepreneur but also to live the EMPOWERED life. You are going to need paper and pen for this episode and honestly for most to all of my episodes you will always want to keep paper and pen. I will share several stories. All of them should give you encouragement and inspire you. One of the stories I just shared with my students this past week. Deshauna Barber - American model Ms. USA 2016. She suffered from some low self-esteem. A woman found her in Target and told her that she could be the next Ms. USA. She started competing in the state pageants. She tried for six years in a row and was ready to give up “it is failing epically”. Leslie told her to keep trying. Finally in her seventh year she won the title of Ms. USA and life changed dramatically. In the words of Leslie “If not you, then who”. “At times our purpose drops in our laps as if heaven threw it by accident. Do not fear failure. But please be terrified of regret. Giving up is the birth of regret. There will be hundreds of moments of people telling you no. You will hear more no's than yeses in your lifetime. We will fail and fail a lot. Don't be afraid of no's be afraid of a yes that you have prematurely destroyed because you have decided to quit before the clock strikes 12. You have rights to your no and your YES is undeniable. Your yes is far more powerful and purposeful than any no you will ever receive. Wisdom is gained through experiences. Failure is one of the greatest producers of wisdom. Wisdom is attracted to and accessible to all. When wisdom speaks it is true. Wisdom produces durable revenue. To have the talent of wisdom you must listen to it. The art and power of listening. What have you accepted that you can alter if you negotiate from a different perspective? So, if you are ready to be inspired, encouraged, and gain some knowledge that will do you well in entrepreneurship and in life, then you need to jump into this episode and let me know your thoughts. Remember to connect with me on social media. My handles are below. And I would love for you to subscribe, leave me a review, and share this podcast with everyone you know. On this podcast we finally talk about #PROJECTSUCCESS or rather, UEH. The University of Elk Hunting--this is Corey’s new online elk hunting course. This course is the culmination of 30-years of elk hunting experience. In fact, the course is more than 120,000 words, has more than 70 video components and hundreds of diagrams and images. This course is seriously awesome. On this podcast, Clint tells us about his thoughts on the training courses. This podcast can’t help but come off as a giant sales-pitch to get you to buy this online course--and even though that’s kinda what this podcast is--it’s also way more than that. I really do believe that the course is worth every penny to every elk hunter out there. And, shamelessly, I would love to see Corey get wildly rewarded for the work he’s put into this course and for the knowledge he freely shares to help elk hunters across the world find greater success year after year in the elk woods. Corey has worked his butt off to make this online course come to life. So sit back, listen to the show and if you like what you’ve heard--do yourself a solid, and enroll in UEH.   The discount code is GRITTY40--the word GRITTY, G R I T T Y and the number 40--with this discount code you’ll save 40% off the University of Elk Hunting online course. The code expires on Halloween night. It’s $59 bucks with the code and $99 dollars without it. It’s worth every penny. Stay GRITTY friends!  http://www.elk101.com/onlinecourse/

That’s it for EPISODE 4 of the Gritty Bowmen podcast. Part 2 of Are you a Stalker? Stalking Monster Mule Deer w/South Cox & Stalker Stickbows.  I got a lot of information out of these two podcasts with South on how to kill a monster mule deer. In summary, South explained the need to have a positive attitude and Mental Toughness. Another key to his success is that South gets remote with a focus on wilderness areas. And South looks for hunting grounds with what he calls “Micro Topography” .South likes to stalk from above. This helps him with wind. Because deer bedded on hillsides tend to face downhill and therefore don’t see you coming. South also finds it easier to sneak in on the animal from above when you need to stay low or crawl. Unlike some hunters, South likes to wait until the animal beds down before he stalks his deer. South recommends buying the best glass you can afford. South stressed the importance of mounting your binoculars to a tripod. And when glassing, don’t just glass from the main ridgeline. Walk out on the finger-ridges that branch off the main ridge line and glass to the end of the finger ridge. South likes lightweight boots that have soft soles—he finds them quieter and they help him when hopping through a boulder field. He mentioned Solomon boots, the Lowa Zephyr, Lowa Renegade, and one of his favorites, the Ahnu Elk Ridge Mid. At 70 to 100 yards from his quarry, South sheds his boots and dons a thick pair of socks to silently close the distance. But he recommends marking the location of your boots somehow so you don’t lose your boots. And South likes Smoke in a Bottle brand wind checker. South carries 3 things in his front right pocket. Chapstick, lens cloth, and  Smoke in a bottle. www. stalkerstickbows.comhttp://www.ahnu.comhttp://moccasinjoedist.com/store/unscented-smoke/43-smoke-in-a-bottle.htmlhttp://www.lowaboots.comI hope you enjoyed this podcast as much as I did. Please take a moment to leave us a rating or a review on iTunes and or our Youtube channel. In today’s podcast we travel to Hoodoo Oregon for the second-leg of the NW Mt Challenge. We meet up with Kody Kellom of Born and Raised Outdoors and Jon Walusiak, joint owners of the Full Draw Film Tour. Jon is also the owner of W- Design company. These two guys are the engine that run the Full Draw Film Tour. Now... some of you may be asking, “what is the Full Draw Film Tour?” To quote the Gritty Scotsman, “If you donn’a know what the tour is, you need to climb out from under the rock you been livin’ under and listen to this podcast.”    In this podcast you’ll learn all about the Full Draw Film Tour. You’ll learn about Jon and Kody’s vision behind it. As Kody said: “Our goal with the FDFT is to capture them, move them, and change them.” You’ll hear Kody and Jon’s opinion on the 3 ingredients that make a good film based on their combined years of experience running the tour and literally observing nearly 100 different audiences--learning what they like, what captures them, what moves them and what changes them.   I first met Kody at the FDF School. Where I met South Cox, Kristy Titus, Born and Raised Outdoors, Joe Sanchez, Grady Rawls, Walt Ramage and more. We were put into teams of 3 and I was grouped with Kristy Titus and Josh Keller who were a TON of fun. And these people inspired me. And for this reason and many more, I have a special affection for this tour and these guys. It’s undeniable that the Full Draw Film Tour has had a huge impact on my life. So it was pleasure to sit and talk to Jon and Kody about the tour. To hear about the money they’ve raised for charities like hunt of a lifetime and Wishes for Warriors. To hear how the tour has inspired people and changed lives. I STILL think the tour should have been called The GRITTY Full Draw Film Tour, but whatever.  I’m Brian Call, and I’m your host, Mark Brownlee--the Gritty Scotsman--is my co-host and without Further ado, here is today’s podcast.   SHOT SHOW Wishes for Warriors FDFT Gritty Tip & It's Not About The Horns Movie Trailer  It's Not About The Horns Movie Trailer- FDFT Official Selection I really hope you enjoyed today’s podcast and it’s got you motivated to go and check out the film tour and see what it’s all about.  For a behind the scenes look at the Full Draw Film tour, stay tuned for the following videos: The Full Draw Film Tour Gritty Tip and the trailer to the Gritty Bowmen Film, It’s Not About The Horns.  Stay Gritty out there!

On this episode of Gritty Bowmen, Aron Snyder decides to do a Kifaru backpack giveaway to Gritty Bowmen podcast listeners. I’m not so big into advertising or offering promotional stuff or into sales. But I’ve been receiving emails and PMs daily from people who cannot find our podcast on iTunes under the hunting or outdoors category searches. Our listeners have found us by word of mouth or on Youtube, FB or Instagram. In fact, when you go to iTunes and do a category search for outdoor podcasts, the Gritty Bowmen podcast does not show up in the search. Apparently, only featured podcasts by Apple are shown. According to apple, they couldn’t show all the outdoor podcasts or there would be thousands. So the chances of someone finding the Gritty Bowmen podcast by browsing in iTunes for a hunting podcast is very slim until Apple recognizes our podcast and features our content. And apparently, our Gritty Bowmen cover art in iTunes is too gory for apple so we’re thinking about changing that.  I want the Gritty Bowmen brand to grow organically, to be made up of genuine fans with an interest in what we’re doing. I want every review on iTunes to be obtained because someone is genuinely into the show—and NOT because we’re giving away a pack or doing some other promotional offer. So until now, we have avoided promotional offers. But then I got to thinking, do I leave reviews for the podcasts I listen to, and really like? The truth is, before I started my own podcast I rarely left reviews for the podcasts I listened to and thoroughly enjoyed. So I realized, a little motivation can go a long way. I’m sure you folks are just like me—you’re busy, you have jobs, family and life tugging at you. And I remember the first time I tried to leave a review on iTunes—after 30 minutes of effort and still no review I gave up. It wasn’t until I was sufficiently motivated to leave a review that I stuck with it until I figured out how to do it. So… hence the backpack giveaway. What kind of hunter wouldn’t want a chance at a free backpack anyway! I hope the possibility of winning a free backpack can justify the time it will take for you to leave us review.  In this podcast you will learn why Aron Snyder is NOT in charge of this  backpack giveaway. His bleeding heart is just not as unbiased as mine. A-Aron just needs to leave this give away to the professionals at the Gritty Bowmen. Aron just needs to donate the pack—we’ll take it from here.  Aron seems to think that our listeners in Djibouti should be left out of the giveaway. But we, at the Gritty Bowmen will not discriminate. Which brings up another point, the giveaway is not restricted to Apple users. You android and apple-haters can participate in the giveaway by leaving us a review on Stitcher. And while you’re leaving us a review on Stitcher or iTunes—be sure to subscribe to the podcast if you haven’t already. This way, you can have all of the episodes automatically download to your mobile device so you can enjoy them anytime, anywhere. And for people like Tom Ryle or my college roommate Chad Nelson, who are struggling with leaving us a review on iTunes or Stitcher, Mark Brownlee and I will be creating a little “Gritty Tip instructional video on “how to leave a review and how to subscribe to a podcast.” So look for that Gritty Tip in the next week or so. The deadline to participate in the giveaway is September 10th so don’t worry, you have some time to wait for our little instructional video to do your review.  Lastly, the giveaway extends to everyone who has EVER left us a review.  And without further ado, here is today’s podcast.  Alright folks,  As you can see, Aron is not qualified to manage this backpack giveaway. Although he is very qualified to donate the pack to the give away. in all seriousness, I want thank Kifaru International for supporting our show and what we’re doing. And I want to personally thank Aron Snyder for being a regular on the show and graciously sharing his expertise. And I want to thank all of you out there listening and supporting the show—your feedback is awesome. Stay tuned for our instructional video on how to leave a review and how to subscribe to a podcast. I wish you all great success in your lives and in your hunts this year. Stay Gritty! A-A-Ron Substitute Teacher Video
