In this episode we will discuss the importance of testing every spirit in this day and time. Who do we listen to, who can we trust? What's truth and what's false hood. The ancestors have given us the way to discern! So tune in to explore what they left for us to see.
God’s Word today is the same today as God’s Word yesterday. Jesus embodies what true love is. Belief in God’s love for us leads to confidence and love for others.
“Church A-B-C's” is a year-long theme for our life together at Faith Lutheran Church. It is dedicated to understanding God's calling upon His holy people—what it means to be a vibrant, mission-driven body of faith. We believe that God has called us to know Him and to make Him known to others in the world. We get to know Christ through His Word, shared in the church (the “temple”) in worship and Bible study. We get to know Christ through His Word shared around our dinner tables, with family, friends, and neighbors. We make Him known through our lives of service. The day of our Lord's resurrection is arguably the most consequential day in the history of the world. Having paid the price for our sins on the cross, Jesus rose triumphant, defeating the lasting sting of death for all who believe. The apostle Paul says His resurrection is the firstfruits (1 Cor. 15), which means many more will also rise. Jesus Himself promised those who believe in Him: “I will raise [you] up at the last day” (John 6:39-40). Because Jesus lives, we have assurance of an eternal, resurrected life with Him. Because God has demonstrated His love for us in sending His only Son to die for us, we too show love and grace and become Christ-like. Our Easter series explores the positive consequences of God's love and Christ's resurrection. Today we consider St. John's encouragement to test outside spirits that can easily lead us away from the Spirit of Truth.

In today's world, it's so important for us to know the truth about God's word, to really study the Bible, and to seek guidance from Christ in everything that we do. A few episodes ago, I went over what Christian Spiritual discernment is, and that it's different than the gift of discerning between Spirits. Today, we're going to be going over the gift of discernment of spirits or distinguishing between spirits. I'm going to go over what discerning between spirits is, if it's important, if we should be testing the spirits, and the truth of God's words through scripture. Enjoy! The fear of the Lord causes us to come take refuge in Him (cf. Ps 31:19), whereas the fear of the Lord's judgment causes us to shrink back from Him (cf. Luke 23:30). In Christ, our fear of the Lord's judgment is cast out by perfect love.
