In this episode, researcher and Loose Threads co-author Daniel Elizondo joins us for a far-reaching conversation about UFO secrecy, the architecture of disinformation, and the psychological terrain of the phenomenon itself. We dig into Jacques Vallée's “Secret Onion”—a layered model of compartmentalization that explains how information is controlled and obscured within intelligence structures—and explore how narrative control operates both externally through infotainment and internally through belief, seduction, and epistemic vulnerability.Daniel breaks down the long history of rug pulls, the weaponization of mystery, and what it means to resist the gravitational pull of being “the one” to break the story. We also talk Forbidden Science, Skywatcher, and the invisible handshake between researchers and the phenomenon they seek to understand. If you've ever wondered who controls the narrative—or if you're part of it—this episode is for you.

00:00:00 – Joe Returns and Anti-Dog Climate Push Joe is back from vacation and reflects on a noisy Houston trip. The crew dives into a report claiming that pet dogs are a climate threat due to their emissions and impact on wildlife. The show debates the logic and absurdity of this claim, humorously defending dog ownership. 00:10:00 – Poop Theory and Dog Attack Prevention Discussion deepens around dog waste, the logistics of picking it up, and the environmental footprint of dog food. A bizarre story emerges about a man stopping a dog attack by inserting his finger into the dog's backside — sparking disbelief and crude jokes. 00:20:00 – Dog Park Chaos and Tech Illiteracy Study A second video shows more dog park drama. The team transitions to a new study that links lack of computer skills to lower intelligence rather than lack of training, sparking commentary on aging, tech literacy, and whether some people are just beyond help. 00:30:00 – Helicopter Marshmallow Drops and Sperm Racing A Michigan Easter event drops marshmallows from a helicopter, but kids aren't allowed to eat them — only trade them for prizes. The episode then dives into the bizarre concept of “sperm racing,” a real event in LA involving university students, sperm samples, leaderboards, and betting. 00:40:00 – Sperm Racing Gets Real and Tucker's Turn The logistics of sperm races continue, and the absurdity of the event is explored. Then the focus shifts to Tucker Carlson's recent shift from establishment war hawk to 9/11 skeptic, showing how drastically public figures can evolve over time. 00:50:00 – AI Trading Grifts and Diaper Challenges The team critiques a fake AI influencer claiming stock market success. The hosts examine extreme emotional reactions and discuss how mainstream media selectively crafts sympathetic narratives depending on politics. 01:10:00 – Deported “Maryland Father” vs. MS-13 Reality The show unpacks the media story about a deported "Maryland father" that glosses over his gang ties and illegal entry. Audio clips show the political spin versus actual legal records, including the MS-13 affiliation and multiple arrests. 01:20:00 – Narrative Control and Listener Abduction Stories More analysis of the deportation case and the twisted logic used to defend gang-affiliated individuals. Listeners call in, including one sharing a fragmented, emotional story of alien abduction, missing time, and strange childhood encounters. 01:30:00 – Abduction Memories and Strange News Wrap-Up Another caller recounts being paralyzed and encountering a being in his room as a child. The segment ends with a lighthearted news story about Trump-themed toilet brushes trending in China as satire amid trade tensions. 01:40:00 – Time Manipulation & Temporal Disorientation Discussion turns to oddities around time manipulation and perception — stories involving waking up disoriented, backward bedding, strange memory gaps, and speculation about reality manipulation or missing time. Alien abduction themes are revisited, tying into earlier calls. 01:50:00 – Toddler Arguments and Diaper Logic The show humorously shifts gears into absurd conversations toddlers have — like bargaining over diapers, making "challenges" out of wearing them, and the surreal logic toddlers use. The hosts riff on how it feels like arguing with a drunk tiny person.   Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research ▀▄▀▄▀ CONTACT LINKS ▀▄▀▄▀ ► Phone: 614-388-9109 ► Skype: ourbigdumbmouth ► Website: http://obdmpod.com ► Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/obdmpod ► Full Videos at Odysee: https://odysee.com/@obdm:0 ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/obdmpod ► Instagram: obdmpod ► Email: ourbigdumbmouth at gmail ► RSS: http://ourbigdumbmouth.libsyn.com/rss ► iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/our-big-dumb-mouth/id261189509?mt=2

Without enough engaged participants, even well-designed social networks struggle to sustain themselves, and individuals migrate to spaces where meaningful conversations persist. This explains why Twitter remains dominant despite competition and why smaller, curated communities can be more rewarding but difficult to scale.Information Warfare and the Need for Cognitive Armor – In today's digital landscape, engagement-driven algorithms create an arena of information warfare, where narratives are designed to hijack emotions and shape public perception. The only real defense is developing cognitive armor—critical thinking skills, pattern recognition, and the ability to deconstruct media. By analyzing how information is presented, from video editing techniques to linguistic framing, individuals can resist manipulation and maintain autonomy over their perspectives. The Role of Ontologies in AI and Knowledge Management – Traditional knowledge management has long been overlooked as dull and bureaucratic, but AI is transforming the field into something dynamic and powerful. Systems like Tana and Palantir use ontologies—structured representations of concepts and their relationships—to enhance information retrieval and reasoning. AI models perform better when given structured data, making ontologies a crucial component of next-generation AI-assisted thinking. The Danger of Illusions of Insight – Drawing from ideas by Balaji Srinivasan, the episode distinguished between genuine insight and the illusion of insight. While psychedelics, spiritual experiences, and intense emotional states can feel revelatory, they do not always produce knowledge that can be tested, shared, or used constructively. The ability to distinguish between profound realizations and self-deceptive experiences is critical for anyone navigating personal and intellectual growth.AI as an Extension of Human Cognition, Not a Second Brain – While popular frameworks like "second brain" suggest that digital tools can serve as externalized minds, the episode argued that AI and note-taking systems function more as extended cognition rather than true thinking machines. AI can assist with organizing and retrieving knowledge, but it does not replace human reasoning or creativity. Properly integrating AI into workflows requires understanding its strengths and limitations. The Relationship Between Personal and Collective Knowledge Management – Effective knowledge management is not just an individual challenge but also a collective one. While personal knowledge systems (like note-taking and research practices) help individuals retain and process information, organizations struggle with preserving and sharing institutional knowledge at scale. Companies like Tesla exemplify how knowledge isn't just stored in documents but embodied in skilled individuals who can rebuild complex systems from scratch. The Increasing Value of First Principles Thinking – Whether in AI development, philosophy, or practical decision-making, the discussion emphasized the importance of grounding ideas in first principles. Great thinkers and innovators, from AI researchers like Demis Hassabis to physicists like David Deutsch, excel because they focus on fundamental truths rather than assumptions. As AI and digital tools reshape how we interact with knowledge, the ability to think critically and question foundational concepts will become even more essential.

On this episode of Crazy Wisdom, Stewart Alsop speaks with Dimetri Kofinas, host of Hidden Forces, about the transition from an "age of answers" to an "age of questions." They explore the implications of AI and large language models on human cognition, the role of narrative in shaping society, and the destabilizing effects of trauma on belief systems. The conversation touches on media manipulation, the intersection of technology and consciousness, and the existential dilemmas posed by transhumanism. Dimetri Kofinas and Stewart Alsop discuss how society is moving away from a model where authority figures and institutions provide definitive answers and toward one where individuals must critically engage with uncertainty. This transition is both exciting and destabilizing, as it forces us to rethink long-held assumptions and develop new ways of making sense of the world.AI is revealing the limits of human uniqueness. Large language models (LLMs) can replicate much of what we consider intellectual labor, from conversation to knowledge retrieval, forcing us to ask: What remains distinctly human? The discussion suggests that while AI can mimic thought patterns and compress vast amounts of information, it lacks the capacity for true embodied experience, creative insight, and personal revelation—qualities that define human consciousness.Narrative control is a fundamental mechanism of power. Whether through media, social networks, or propaganda, the ability to shape narratives determines what people believe to be true. The conversation highlights how past and present authorities—from Edward Bernays' early propaganda techniques to modern AI-driven social media algorithms—have leveraged this power to direct public perception and behavior, often with unforeseen consequences.Trauma is a tool for reshaping belief systems. Societal upheavals, such as 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, and COVID-19, create psychological fractures that leave people vulnerable to radical shifts in worldview. In moments of crisis, individuals seek order, making them more susceptible to new ideologies—whether grounded in reality or driven by manipulation. This dynamic plays a key role in how misinformation and conspiracy theories gain traction. The free market alone cannot regulate the modern information ecosystem. While libertarian ideals advocate for minimal intervention, Kofinas argues that the chaotic nature of unregulated information systems—especially social media—leads to dangerous feedback loops that amplify division and disinformation. He suggests that democratic institutions must play a role in establishing transparency and oversight to prevent unchecked algorithmic manipulation.Transhumanism is both a technological pursuit and a philosophical problem. The belief that human consciousness can be uploaded or replicated through technology is based on a materialist assumption that denies the deeper mystery of subjective experience. The discussion critiques the arrogance of those who claim we can fully map and transfer human identity onto machines, highlighting the philosophical and ethical dilemmas this raises. The struggle between centralization and decentralization is accelerating. The digital age is simultaneously fragmenting traditional institutions while creating new centers of power. AI, geopolitics, and financial systems are all being reshaped by this tension. The conversation explores how Argentina's libertarian experiment under Javier Milei exemplifies this dynamic, raising questions about whether decentralization can work without strong institutional foundations or whether chaos inevitably leads back to authoritarianism.

What are you talking about? Why the Narrative matters. Everything we do, or do not do, is driven by a belief system. Frank Outlaw is credited with the statement; “Watch your thoughts, they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” All what Mr. Outlaw stated is driven by our Self-Talk.  We believe what we tell ourselves repeatedly. Whether we are talking about Classical Conditioning, Mass formation, Narrative Control, or basic manipulation- they are all driven by repetition of message whether visual, kinesthetic, or auditory. Multipolarity

In the halls of modern government the info-wizard is king. Media consultants, political strategists, whatever title they assume they always promise the same thing: magic worked through information control; spells cast by incantation. In the first week of March 2022, only a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a slew of articles came out in Western publications announcing the advent of the anti-Russian infowar. To say that this infowar was launched with much fanfare would be an understatement - within days of the Russo-Ukraine war beginning various Western publications were already suggesting that victory was on the horizon. The effect was eerie, with multiple outlets running the exact same headline. "Ukraine is winning the information war against Russia", proclaimed different writers at CNBC, Slate, and The Financial Times. No doubt this proclamation of victory was itself part of the infowar that the various authors purported to analyse - a self-licking ice cream cone if there ever was one.Yet as time went on it became clear that the anti-Russian infowar was not targeted at the Russian people, much less the Russian military - rather it was targeted at a Western domestic audience. The French philosopher Jean Baudrillard once declared that The Gulf War Did Not Take Place - it was merely broadcast as a sort of simulation on television screens across the world. If only Baudrillard had lived to see the anti-Russian infowar launched in early-2022.Partisan politics in the United States had long been drowned in a bathtub of propaganda by the time the anti-Russian infowar came along. As the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal raged in 1998, the American public asked themselves whether the President did or did not have sexual relations with that woman. The question was a factual one: did he or didn't he. Today such a reference to reality seems quaint. The factuality of various political attacks barely matters anymore as everything is treated as being part of some partisan "narrative" or "talking point".And so, when some people raised the possibility that President Joe Biden might be completely incapable of doing his job due to severe cognitive impairment, the factuality of this claim was never really addressed - it was simply dismissed as an obvious partisan attack, a "right-wing talking point".Last week we saw reality climb back in through the window: the President tried to debate his opponent on television and the world saw that America is being led by a man who is clearly not in command of his faculties. In this week's episode of Multipolarity, we are joined by Malcolm Kyeyune to discuss the saturation of the information space with propaganda of various forms. Are these really the savvy tricks that consultants and strategists claim them to be? Or are they a symptom of a political system experiencing deep decline - a system that can no longer deal with reality and finds itself instead retreating into fantasy?*** Be excellent to each other, and -Get us on Twitter. Over the last 30 years, there has been an exponential growth of Indigenous media and Indigenous media makers, especially here in Canada which has one of the largest repositories of Indigenous media. However, the road to get here hasn't been easy. Indigenous filmmakers, producers, and artists have had to navigate the complex and often unfriendly terrain of Canadian media institutions and media production companies. Their negotiations -- and struggles -- have helped make space for a generation of Indigenous media-makers who are increasingly making shows and films on their terms, with their ideas.Karrmen Crey who is Stó:lō from Cheam First Nation, is an associate professor in the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, and the author of “Producing Sovereignty: The Rise of Indigenous Media in Canada.” In this special  episode, recorded on-site with an audience in Vancouver at Iron Dog books, Karrmen speaks with Vinita about  the ways  Indigenous creators are using humour along with a sharp critique of pop culture to show just how different the world looks when decision-making power over how stories get told shifts and Indigenous media makers take control. This episode was produced in front of a live audience at Iron Dog Books in Vancouver, in partnership with Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology and the Amplify Podcast Network. Rob Henderson joins me to discuss Season 1 of Yellowstone. I had only heard about the show when I saw a controversy blow up on Twitter where Matt Walsh was attacking boomers for liking it while denouncing the series as woke propaganda.Rob uses a phrase that I love to describe the series: “profoundly unsophisticated.” Every character tells you exactly what they're thinking or what they're planning at each moment. You get wild coincidences and strange chance encounters that add shootouts, horse chases, and action scenes to the show without having much basis in the plot. The politics are just as unsophisticated as the plot and character development, being based in a primitive kind of NIMBY fundamentalism and anti-rich animus, with a progressive but not exactly woke worldview on social issues. All of that being said, Rob and I are going to keep watching. As smart guys, we like sophisticated shows, but it can also be fun to turn your brain off for an hour and enjoy shootouts and the Montana landscape. And, I suspect, deep down, we feel joy at the thought of continuing to snigger at boomers and what they consider sophisticated entertainment as we imagine observing a show like this through their eyes. Ok, maybe not Rob, but that's definitely what's going to keep me watching. We laughed a lot during this one. I think you'll enjoy it, even if you haven't seen the show. We've Been Dominated By Narrative Control Since The Dawn Of Civilization

The science of modern propaganda arguably got its start over a century ago during World War I when a young Edward Bernays was recruited to help sell the conflict to a reluctant American populace, after which he took what he'd learned on that front and folded it into a lifetime of work on the study of mass-scale psychological manipulation. That was when propaganda as we know it today came into being, with the scientific method applied to the task of refining techniques for manipulating large-scale human behavior using modern media distribution. Those methods have been in research and development this entire time, and have advanced at least as much as our other instruments of warfare have advanced since World War I. But that wasn't the beginning of mass-scale psychological manipulation by the powerful. That has been going on since the dawn of civilization. Reading by Tim Foley.

Imperial Narrative Control Has Five Distinct Elements

Going Rogue With Caitlin Johnstone

All of our world's worst problems are created by the powerful. The powerful will keep creating those problems until ordinary people use their superior numbers to make them stop. Ordinary people don't use their superior numbers to stop the powerful because the powerful are continuously manipulating people's understanding of what's going on.  Humans are storytelling creatures. If you can control the stories humans are telling themselves about the world, you control the humans, and you control the world.  Mental narrative plays a hugely prominent role in human experience; if you've ever tried to still your mind in meditation you know exactly what I'm talking about. Babbling thought stories dominate our experience of reality. It makes sense then that if you can influence those stories, you're effectively influencing someone's experience of reality. The powerful manipulate the dominant narratives of our society in approximately five major ways: propaganda, censorship, Silicon Valley algorithm manipulation, government secrecy, and the war on journalism. Like the fingers on a hand they are distinct from each other and each play their own role, but they're all part of the same thing and work together toward the same goal. They're all just different aspects of the US-centralized empire's narrative control system. Reading by Tim Foley.

Elon Musk and Free Speech. A Hero Story. South African immigrant Musk now poised to end the Apartheid policies of old Twitter. But is Musk now fearing for his life? Explaining why the First Amendment presents such a dire threat to the Ruling Class. Fears of losing their all-important Narrative Control. In spite of Nina Jankowicz propaganda to the contrary, let us remember the powerful are always and forever the censors -- while the powerless are the victims of censorship. Meanwhile, Biden seems more determined than ever to drag America into WWIII over Ukraine. Boasting of US intel assistance. CEO of Lockheed describes the current gravy train. Noam Chomsky offers fascinating praise for Donald Trump as the "one statesman" to provide "sensible" statements in "how to solve the crisis." Plus, JD Vance lambastes "slimeball" Karl Rove and describes the critical importance of supporting America First candidates in GOP Primaries. Let us understand the ongoing corruption of the Republican Establishment, and the true state of servitude of Republican Voters. We know all their old tricks.      In this episode Saul and Jolene talk about Player Narrative Control in RPG's.   It is sometimes difficult to define some of the terms that pop up in Role Playing games.  Saul defines what Narrative Control means to him and Jolene questions his definition.  Saul and Jolene discuss this term and what it means in role playing games.  Saul describes games that don't have implicit narrative control like old school games like Original D&D, Space Opera, Shadowrun and those that do like Feng Shui, Fate and GM less games.  Jolene questions if it is needed or even wanted by players, Saul ponders that with certain players that want that kind of experience player narrative control can make a good rpg session.            Some links to things mentioned in this Episode,       Critical Role a very popular actual play program played and GMed by voice actors.  They are very famous in video games and animated shows but are very good at playing D&D.  They play D&D 5th Edition using a world made up by Matt Mercer a very inventive storytelling GM.  They are playing their 2nd campaign.  Both campaigns are available as a video and pod cast.      https://critrole.com/         The Secret Kabal Podcast is mainly a board game podcast but recently included another podcast that deals with RPGs, mainly D&D 5th edition     http://www.thesecretcabal.com/       Music by The Blend, song Control on the album, Losing the Game.    Available at FreeMusicArchive.com

FreeAnons was founded by people with a mission to support those incarcerated by the State for crimes related to freedom of information and activism. One of those people was Jeremy Hammond. Another person was Nancy Norelli, a criminal defense attorney from Florida. For over 5 years Nancy acted as probono legal counsel for FreeAnons, which was her intent from day one. As the amount of work grew, so did the ranks. Enter Sue Crabtree and Pamela Drew. It seemingly didn't take long for things to change. A public dispute over ethics and website hosting with a Board member resigning stating a lack of transparency to the community. In the same time period, a question about pledging support for activists who were then abandoned became public, resulting in statements pulling back the curtains somewhat. Members of the community arrested for computer crimes in projects endorsed and promoted by FreeAnons were given lip service and forgotten, leaving it to them to fight the wall of FA and their supporters. All of these issues were met with character assassination, innuendo, wholesale denial of verifiable facts and subtle threats from members of the FreeAnons inner circle. An inner circle that Nancy was no longer allowed into. As legal counsel, it's fairly obvious disclosure and open communication with clients is necessary. Her legal opinion was being downplayed or ignored. On July 13 this year, Nancy found she was locked out of the twitter account she started. What followed was a fable about Nancy betraying her founding partner Jeremy Hammond, along with rumors used in every other incident. There is no question the mission of FreeAnons has changed over the years. Brand has become the mission. There is nothing FreeAnons does that is exclusive or particularily well executed, beyond rabble rousing and retweeting. Do they deserve the community's trust and support? Nancy Norelli joins us to examine and explain today's FA

Important note: It seems conventional on other podcasts I listen, to mention explicit language - in case your kids are around while you listen or something. There are a few F-words in this episode. I apologise I forgot to mention it in the intro to the episode. This week on the podcast we geek out about tabletop roleplaying games (and a bunch of other stuff - don't feel left out if you don't play tabletop roleplaying games) with an awesome guest: Luke Crane. Luke had won multiple Origins Awards for Best Roleplaying Games in 2006 for his first system Burning Wheel and again in 2008 for MouseGuard. He also designed several other games such as Burning Empires, FreeMarket (with Jared Sorensen) and recently Torchbearer. Luke regularly talks about game design as a variety of events and conventions. Last but certainly not least, Luke is also the Head of Games for Kickstarter, the online crowdfunding website. He gets to support thriving game designers bring their projects to life thanks to the support of fans on the popular crowdfunding platform. We had a fantastic conversation about the design voices in Luke's head, his lunar origins, authors intentions in game design, his latin studies, the Burning Wheel RPG system, his favourite games and movies, how games and tabletop games in particular are seeing a renaissance thanks to crowdfunding and more.
