Cracker Barrel just released its new logo which is plain, sterile, and totally stripped of its heritage. They even removed the old man, erasing the story and charm that once gave the brand its soul. In this episode, we talk about how this isn't just about a restaurant chain, it's about the cultural war between beauty and ugliness, truth and lies, order and chaos.God is a God of beauty, truth, and order. Satan thrives in ugliness, lies, and chaos. What we're seeing in design, culture, and politics today is a Marxist-driven push toward minimalism, modernism, and brutalism—an aesthetic that reflects their worldview. But we don't have to accept this. We can choose a God-honoring path that preserves heritage, values beauty, and treats America as a homeland to be protected, not a business venture to exploit others (even its own people) for monetary advantage.--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

The practical application sections of Paul's epistles are often interspersed with governing principles. Paul is constantly “teaching the 'what' and preaching the 'why'. I find this inferred principle/application distinction especially helpful for discipleship and instruction in Christian 'orthopraxy' – the 'day to day' practical concerns of the believer. Paul allows for latitude in application areas like whether or not to eat food in Corinth that has been dedicated to idols. He instructs the Corinthian believers to use their judgement in case by case situations according to governing principles in scripture. Today we will highlight several of these timeless truths.

Remember, as Hunter always reminds us, you are loved. Let's jump right in. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Like many in our world, I grew up in a family with divorce. And there were times in my childhood when I was visiting my father where I didn't really feel at home. The home, its rooms, the yard, the toys, all of it really didn't feel like it was mine. It felt like they belong to someone else, to my step siblings. I felt displaced. I was an interloper. The point of this is not to blame any particular person for this. Sometimes these insecurities are just there. So for whatever reason, I failed to see myself for what I was, for who I was as the son of my father. And through the years, I've struggled with a diminished view of myself. I failed to fully understand my identity and hear the words of embrace and permission that are really offered to me by God. Words like the ones spoken by the tribe of Manasseh in today's reading. They were growing and they needed more land, and so they ask. The answer they get from Joshua when they ask was, take it. Take all you need. I marvel at things like this. I've often thought that to have more or to ask for more, well, that's for people for whom it was meant to be. People who are more deserving, more together, smarter, less broken than me. But Joshua doesn't say anything like that. To these people, he simply says, do you need more? Take all you need. We see the same kind of boldness from the five daughters of Zelophehad. I wonder whether these ladies had been taught by their father and mother to know how worthy and valuable they were. Even when the culture at that time would have said otherwise, somehow, they knew that they were worthy of their father's inheritance, and so they were bold enough to ask. They boldly come to Joshua and say, the Lord commanded Moses to give us a grant of land along with the men of our tribe. In other words, this is ours, and we're here to take it. I marvel at this courage and the clarity to see and to know who they really were. The same can be true for us, for all of us today. Because we have a good father who is making it clear how valuable you are and that you are worthy of his inheritance, not because you've lived up to some standard or you've been a good child, but because of who you are. You're family. You're his child, and he is good. We can have clarity and boldness to see and to take what is ours in Christ. Let these five daughters of Zelophehad speak to you today, and then reach out and take what is yours. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, for my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be yours, and may it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Fleeting Moments, Timeless Truths: A Talk with Daniel Arnold

What's Contemporary Now?

Daniel Arnold's work can be seen anywhere one consumes visual content, whether it's on the walls of a gallery, the cover of a magazine, or his own well-engaged Instagram feed. But beyond the humanity captured through his lens—with all its bells and whistles of what makes the individual an interesting subject—is the humanity of Daniel himself and the speed with which he can disarm you with his contagious brand of honesty. Speaking to generally relevant subjects as much as his more personal anecdotes, with the same level of fluency that somehow always sounds informed yet ever questioning, the trending power of relatability is alive and well in this episode. Pointing out that we are all well-trained to be entertained while living in this culture of distraction, the former writer-turned-photographer and director believes that anyone can tune into the frequency of viewing life as a source of entertainment rather than as something to validate us or prove our value. More than anything, in an era brimming with more questions than answers, Arnold leaves us with a multitude of soundbites to ponder long after the episode ends. "Letting go of any kind of visualized destination, any kind of idea of what was—what was the right way to do things—and just being kind of fluid and, you know, brave in a way that didn't come naturally to me. But it sort of enforced this new counter-nature, where I had to survive. So I did." - Daniel Arnold  Episode Highlights: As the oldest of six kids, Daniel Arnold understood by the age of 11 or 12 that he would need to create his own world, entertaining himself while concealing his struggles and ambitions. He chose to only share fully formed ideas, appearing effortless and free from struggle. At just 23, the Milwaukee native arrived in New York City where he found a job writing for Viacom. Having grown up in a big family, he understood the value of fleeting moments captured through photography and found himself as a storyteller and a keeper of life's precious and hilarious moments. Living off toast while navigating the waves of poverty that almost every young and new artist seems to endure at some point, Daniel's early years as a freelancer were no stranger to the learning opportunities found in struggle. With a growing body of work, the inspirational highs and lows of discovering the next great image that has always fueled him can sometimes prove even more challenging. Recognizing that we've all been trained to seek entertainment in this culture of distraction, Daniel believes we all have the ability to tune into a frequency where we can see life as a source of entertainment, rather than as a means of validation or proof of our own value. Like anyone who has battled imposter syndrome, Daniel says he's been scared enough times to know to trust the process. A master of metaphor, Daniel compares digital photography to a conversation with success, while film is one with failure, simply because each frame is a risk without any guiding screen or preview. According to Arnold, we've become thirstier for control and perfection than ever before, and as a result, it's imperfection that has become more gorgeous and human than ever. I remember the moment I laid eyes on the woman with her hair put up under an ascot cap. We were both in a bar called The Whig in downtown Columbia, S.C. Our church used social events like this to draw in people who would not grace the doorway of a church building. We were there with separate groups who attended the same church. As I was introduced to her, I could not help but notice that she is a fine looking lady, followed by the second thought, she is way out of my league.Fast forward a few years, and butchering this story, I stood on the doorsteps of the church with a nervous anticipation of our nuptials. Only God could have arranged this marriage, I wasn't worthy, am not worthy, and yet I stand here now, ring on finger, and have wifed up the belle of the ball! The same story is playing out in God's redemptive plan, I was not worthy and am not worthy apart from His gift of grace and righteousness and yet Almighty God has arranged a Day for Christ to be united with His Bride, the Church, you and I made whole in the presence of our God for eternity. Oh how we are too long for that day!Hebrews 12:1b-2a let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.MARANATHA, COME LORD JESUS!Pastor Matthew McCarter

While living with my parents, sometime in early teens, we attended one of the oldest churches in the south. We'd dress in our Sunday finest, traverse the winding country roads, and find “our pew.” After a few stares from my parents, a pinch or two under the thigh, and some monotone words from the pulpit, we were free. The church would empty and we'd head to the car, ready to ditch the Sunday best and get on with life. Every Sunday, no matter what…my dad would strike up a conversation while the three of us sat in the car…waiting! We would glare, roll the window down and motion, one time a horn was used in efforts to get things moving. Waiting was for the birds! We always asked, what is the hold up!?!? This weekend, we explore the same question about God's seeming delay in His return! If you're keen, read ahead in 2 Peter 3. Pastor Matthew McCarter

For Thanksgivings in Homer I have been labeled the Mac n Cheese guy, according to my family. I have become the authority on noodles, spices, and cheese. Rightfully so, although I make it a little different than Pauline, my grandmother, it's pretty delicious. For a few hours on Thursday morning I spend my time at the stove stirring a pot of delightful dairy products. It is not possible to walk away from it, the mixture must be in constant motion due to the threat of the sauce breaking, the oil separating and becoming something rather unsightly and not at all pleasing to the senses of a thanksgiving attendee. It takes time and if one doesn't stick it out and keep stirring the final product will be worthless. Some say that I like to stir other types of pots, proverbial pots. They aren't wrong, but I tend to think about it in other terms. This weekend we're going to launch into a series on Eschatology, an often difficult topic that many Christians have strong convictions about and yet if we don't talk about it, if we don't stir the pot, our once smooth and buttery consistency becomes broken.  Pastor Matthew McCarter

According to modern church culture, to be saved means that you believe some doctrines and go to church. But according to Scripture, to be saved means that your life has been revolutionized from the inside out so that you love and obey God from the heart.
