n this moving sermon titled “The Fact of the Resurrection and Its Implications”, we explore not only the historical credibility of Jesus' resurrection, but its transforming effect on the believer's daily life.✝️ What difference does the resurrection make? Everything.
Jesus is Transfigured before Peter, John, and James. Moses and Elijah are on the mountaintop. God says to listen to his Son. Why is the Transfiguration significant? Why are Moses and Elijah on the mountaintop with Jesus? Why does God have to say to the disciples, and to you, to listen to Jesus? Many view Lent as a time to overcome sin. As Lars Olson teaches us, that's right, in a way, but it's not OUR struggle to overcome sin, it's Christ's. Both in this text and during Lent, people expect Jesus to show them the path of how to not sin. That's the key: he's going directly into your sin, exposing it on the cross, and forgiving it in His resurrection. LENT GUIDEAs we enter the 40-day season of Lent, Luther House of Study is offering a new Lent Planning Guide from Pastor Mark Anderson. He describes, “It seems to be set up for ‘What I have to do,' for pastors to start giving people examples of Christian living, but Lent is all about what God has done.” The guide offers the following free resources to help pastors preach the Gospel with clarity:Week-by-week reflections focused on baptism, repentance, grace, and more.Hymn suggestions that tie into each week's theme.Greek word studies that deepen the understanding of key theological concepts.Practical sermon and teaching ideas to help bring the message of Lent to life.Visit: Preparing for Lent with Pastor Mark Anderson - Luther House of Study SING TO THE LORD Martin Luther said, "Next to the word of God, the art of music is the greatest treasure in the world." To understand the importance of hymnody in the Lutheran church, Lars Olson and Mason Van Essen sit down with Zachary Brockhoff to discuss the lectionary's hymns, their meaning and history, and how the music preaches the Gospel.
In life, we must learn to overcome sin. Sin is anything that is contrary to God's design for our lives—both our actions and our thoughts. But sin is not easy to overcome. From the story of Lot's family in Sodom, we see how difficult it can be to battle and overcome sin, especially when surrounded by a society that thrives on sinning. But, you can overcome. Sin doesn't have to be your story. God will rescue you if you run to Him and look to Him for help. In this sermon, Pastor Ethan answers the question, “How Do I Overcome Sin?”The Bridge Church exists to join God in multiplying his kingdom in Wilmington and the world. For more information on The Bridge Church, please visit https://thebridgeilm.com/Next Steps: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/people/forms/302918If you feel led, give online by clicking here:https://www.thebridgeilm.com/giveSTAY CONNECTEDInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/thebridgeilm/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TheBridgeILMEvents Page:https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/registrations/events

Reflecting on the recent scandal involving Pastor Robert Morris, my heart has been heavy, compelling me to consider the vital importance of a renewed fear of God within the Christian community. This episode of the Jamie Luce Podcast addresses the sobering reality that while loving God is essential, fearing Him is equally crucial to our spiritual integrity. Through the poignant recollection of Jim Baker's story, we illustrate how neglecting this fear can lead to devastating moral failings, urging believers to introspect deeply and prepare earnestly for the return of Jesus Christ. Sin's destructive power is a harsh reality that has dismantled ministries and shattered communities, as evidenced by the lives of fallen leaders. We delve into Deuteronomy 4:24, reflecting on God's nature as a consuming fire and a jealous God. By examining examples like Moses and the prophets of Baal, we offer insights on how God's purifying fire guides us to remain faithful and holy. This chapter emphasizes the urgent need for unwavering commitment to God, avoiding any form of spiritual compromise, and relying on the Holy Spirit for strength. Understanding and embracing the fear of the Lord is paramount for living a righteous life. We explore key scriptures from Deuteronomy, Philippians, and Malachi to highlight the profound impact of fearing God on our spiritual journey. By renewing our minds and presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, as exhorted in Romans 12, we align ourselves with God's perfect will. Drawing inspiration from King David's story, we underscore the power of self-examination and repentance, reminding listeners that forgiveness and redemption are always accessible through Jesus Christ. This episode calls for a wholehearted commitment to living a surrendered life for Christ, recognizing that through Him, our past sins are forgiven and transformed into a testimony of grace. [00:30] Trump Trial Begins (27 minutes) The trial against President Donald Trump in Manhattan is underway with prosecutors' opening argument that Trump rigged the 2016 election by suppressing information that would have damaged his reputation. Officials in the Manhattan district attorney's office still won't specify what crime Trump committed, and apparently relitigating details of an election eight years ago isn't "election denialism.” [27:00] Overcome Sin (26 minutes) God's annual holy day plan is jam-packed with meaning—it reveals His overall plan for humanity. Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I still wrestling with that sin?” Even the apostle Paul said as much in Romans 7:15: “I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” How do we stop sin from stopping our spiritual lives? Is it even possible? Let's discuss sin, temptation, Satan, and, thankfully, God's love. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusandacupofjoe/message
