An inspiring new voice in resiliency, Dr. Robyne Hanley-DaFoe believes that our modern conception of resiliency as "fighting" or being "tougher" is misguided. Learning happens when we are able to trust and feel safe; fear and shame are barriers, not facilitators, for authentic growth, acceptance, and change. In Calm Within the Storm: Resiliency for Today, Tomorrow, and Always (Page Two, 2021), Dr. Robyne maps out a kinder approach to taking on the challenges of life and developing authentic self-alignment and balance.By focusing on research-informed, sustainable, and achievable personal development practices, Dr. Robyne presents a new, attainable model for everyday resiliency--one that everyone can use to feel more grounded and capable. She identifies the obstacles that derail us and keep us stuck, and shows us how to enact our resiliency through stories, research, and practical strategies. This book offers a tender, powerful, and achievable path to the everyday resiliency we all need to navigate the uncertainty in our lives. Today, I am sharing one of my go-to tips for helping a person understand the passage of time across days as well as engaging with you in a bit of review and even planning. Let's call this the Today/Tomorrow Activity or routine. It's something I recommend doing towards the end of your day together and typically for parents to do with their children of any age.

Join us this week as we discuss the sci-fi rom-com 'Palm Springs', a directing debut by Max Barbakow, starring Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti and J. K. Simmons. The set up of the film is a timeloop along the same lines as 'Groundhog Day', but we discuss whether or not the film breathes enough new life and energy into this increasingly common sci-fi sub-genre. We also chat about the 1981 classic Scottish coming-of-age comedy 'Gregory's Girl' by Bill Forsyth, 'Finding Jack Charlton', a 2020 documentary about the life of the legendary England footballer and Ireland manager and his remarkable influence on Ireland in general, and 'Italianamerican', a sweet little documentary made in 1974 by Martin Scorsese about his parents (including his mother's famous recipe for meatballs). The COVID-19 pandemic has caused world-wide disruption but does this mean that Australia needs to change its strategies, particularly in Asia? In an age of fake news and polarizing political debate do we need to teach students more about, and have them practise, critical thinking? Was there ever really ancient environmental wisdom or is it a myth and are sulpher-crested cockatoos loveable larrikins or noisy pests?

Presented by Mastercard When COVID-19 hit in March this year, small business owners braced themselves for what we all hoped would be a few weeks of disruption and financial pain. But now, months into the pandemic, many small businesses are still operating at limited capacity or have shut down completely. In fact, nearly 79% of small businesses have experienced moderate-to-large negative effects as a result of the pandemic with many of them pivoting strategy and doing what they can to survive. We know local businesses are so much more than what they sell which is why we joined forces with Mastercard. Through their small business initiatives and new campaign, Mastercard is shining a light on the impact small businesses have on our economy and lives. With their Path to Priceless mentorship and Digital Doors program, they’re also helping local businesses succeed in their communities and online. In this episode of WorkParty, we sit down with Cheryl Guerin, the Executive Vice President, North America Marketing & Communications at Mastercard, to get all the details behind this initiative and why they’re so committed to ensuring our small businesses are here today, tomorrow, and beyond. Because together, we can #StartSomethingPriceless. Join the party on social @workparty and stay in-the-know at workparty.com. Guest Cheryl Guerin @mastercard Produced by Dear Media

The third entry in the 2020 NP Week series, NPs Moving Forward: Today. Tomorrow. Together., features NP pioneer Dr. Jan Towers. The four-part 2020 NP Week series ends with a bang as AANP welcomes the co-founder of the NP role. The legend herself, Dr. Loretta Ford, started it all in 1965 by seeing a need, stepping up, co-creating the NP role and preparing the first generation of nurse practitioners!
In episode two of the 2020 NP Week series, AANP sits down with retired Naval Nurse Corps officer, Vietnam War veteran and family nurse practitioner Dr. Nick Burnett to talk about his journey from pre-nursing to becoming an NP entrepreneur providing much needed health care in rural communities.
Many of the sayings that we have today come directly from the Bible or they are patterned after scripture. One saying that I have always used is I'd rather be a live chicken than a dead duck meaning I'd rather be a little timid about things and called “chicken” for maybe running from fear than to hang around irresponsibly and be in danger. The Bible says that it's better to be a living dog than a dead lion. We can have an influence while we're living and can make changes occur but once this life is over, those opportunities are gone. Live life today while God is still giving you the opportunity to do. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pastordwaynenbbc/message

It's a slogan gathering steam, and support--but not enough support to make it practical. Yet. What don't people understand about the phrase and the options on the table for police reform, which range from abolishment of the police, to superficial changes that advocates say won't make much of a difference? How well do we understand what needs to happen next? And what reforms can actually make a difference now? GUEST: Monica Bell, associate professor of law and sociology, Yale University

C’mon, admit it. You have noticed that the majority of the names leading the congressional crusade against President Trump are Jewish. Is this an anti-Semitic observation? No, it’s true. And remember, any defamatory statement that is true reflects badly upon the subject of the infamy. Do you know how many secularized Americans of Jewish ancestry currently serve in the U.S. Congress? Do you know how that relates to America’s Jewish population? The secret of why only two of the Jewish representatives are Republicans. What makes a Jew a Jew? (Hint: It’s not having a Jewish mother!) Why so many 20th century communist leaders in Russia, Germany, Hungary, and elsewhere were Jewish. Yes, Leon Trotsky’s real name was Davidovich Bronstein. Why there is no such thing as ‘the American Jewish community’. What British prime minister, Benjamin Disraeli, said about Jews. In relationships, shared values matter far more than shared skin color. The problem that precipitated the brutal murder of two innocent Jews in Jersey City on December 10th was not anti-Semitism. The tragic triumph of the heinous over the holy. Is a Jewish presence good or bad for a country? Why understanding the Jews is vital for understanding how the world REALLY works. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
