In today's episode, I'm diving into gut health, but—as always—I'm doing it in my own unconventional way. Gut issues are often the gateway for many women into the wellness world. But once you're in, it can become this never-ending game of "symptom whack-a-mole." One issue pops up, you chase it with a protocol, and then another emerges. What we're missing is a foundational practice and a deep understanding of gut physiology and how it's intricately tied to our nervous system. Without addressing those basics, you're often just spinning your wheels. When I work with women experiencing gut issues, I often start by focusing on the basics, and one of the most commonly overlooked, yet essential, aspects of gut health is proper hydration. It seems simple, but many people are chronically dehydrated or drinking water inconsistently. Whether it's chugging water late in the day or relying on dry foods that don't offer hydration, these habits can seriously impair digestion. Ultimately, my approach is about respecting the body's innate wisdom and starting with the simplest, most fundamental tools first. Everything else builds from there. We go over all of this and so much more in this episode. Tune in today and get your gut back on the right track! In this episode:[00:37] Welcome back to The Fully Nourished Podcast![02:14] We're diving into gut health today. Trump Continues Weeding Out Deep State Operatives, Fires NSA Deputy Director & US Cyber Command Leader
The focal point of our discussion today centers on the profound insights regarding the detrimental effects of marijuana, as elucidated by Dr. Raymond Wiggins in his recently published work, "Weeding out the Myths about Marijuana." Dr. Wiggins, drawing from his extensive expertise as both a medical professional and a minister, provides a compelling analysis of marijuana's impact on mental and physical health, revealing alarming statistics regarding its correlation with increased risks of anxiety, psychosis, and heart issues. Through a personal narrative intertwined with professional observations, he underscores the critical need for a reevaluation of prevailing perceptions surrounding marijuana as a benign substance. Our conversation delves into the societal implications of marijuana legalization, as well as the spiritual dimensions that inform Dr. Wiggins' perspective on addiction and recovery. Ultimately, we aspire to illuminate the urgent necessity of addressing these misconceptions in our communities for the betterment of public health and well-being.The discourse unfolds with a profound exploration of personal adversity articulated through a poignant anecdote from Dr. Raymond Wiggins' formative years. A significant piece of advice from a mentor, encapsulated in the phrase 'a calm sea never made a skillful sailor,' serves as a thematic cornerstone for the discussion. This metaphor underlines the essential role of challenges in personal development and resilience. Dr. Wiggins reflects on his own life, particularly the adversities faced by his family concerning substance abuse, and how these experiences have equipped him to minister to others in similar predicaments. The conversation deftly weaves between personal narrative and broader societal implications, emphasizing the importance of using one's trials as a foundation for helping others navigate their own challenges. As the dialogue progresses, Dr. Wiggins recounts his diverse academic and professional journey, transitioning from a business degree to a medical career in oral and maxillofacial surgery, ultimately embracing a calling towards ministry. His multifaceted background enriches the conversation, highlighting the intersection of medicine and spirituality in addressing contemporary issues surrounding substance use and addiction, particularly in relation to marijuana.Takeaways: The best piece of advice received was that a calm sea never made a skillful sailor, highlighting the importance of adversity in personal growth. The speaker shared personal experiences with family adversity related to addiction, emphasizing that such experiences can prepare one to help others. The podcast discussed the significant changes in the medical field, specifically in anesthesia, over the past three decades, including advancements in medication and imaging technology. The speaker's new book addresses misconceptions about marijuana and discusses its negative impact on mental health, including increased anxiety and risk of psychosis. Legalization of marijuana is argued to lead to an increase in addiction, psychiatric issues, and other social problems, countering popular belief. The importance of incorporating biblical principles into discussions around marijuana use was emphasized, suggesting that spiritual guidance can aid in overcoming addiction. Last Saturday, I spent a good amount of time in my yard, weeding. My thoughts turned to mental health, and I thought a lot about how to get down to the root of a problem to eradicate it rather than just grasping at the surface issue and leaving the roots intact. Why? Because weeds which are not pulled up from the root grow back, just like our problems and struggles when we don't address the root cause, they seem to crop back up. This week we take a brief but deep dive into what needs to happen to change on a fundamental level. My guest is the author of the book Weeding Out the Myths About Marijuana. He is a licensed physician who has been on the front lines of healthcare for almost three decades. He has served in many leadership roles and has personally performed general anesthetics on over 27,000 patients. As Dr. Wiggins studied the medical literature about marijuana, he also interviewed many users, former users, and others impacted by marijuana. He found that many had stories of marijuana's negative spiritual impacts. Therefore, he examined the Bible to see if it says anything about marijuana. He found that, although the Bible does not use the words marijuana or cannabis, it does have much to say regarding the subject of being sound of mind. https://www.drwiggins.com/http://www.yourlotandparcel.org

[EP 25-033] We are weeding though the BS today, and I'm giving you my lesson on this. The best skill you can teach your children is what I'm discussing today. I explained how my older brother taught me how to weed through the BS. Before we get back to this I want to read a note I got from Lt Col Retired James… If you watch movies like Ocean's 11, you always see the guy who looks at the architectural layout of a building, and navigates his way through. THAT'S NOT ME. Or you see a commercial, and a guy is looking at the building plan for a skyscraper like it's a Dr. Seuss book. What do you do that is so repetitive that it's like looking at a complicated math equation you see during a commercial?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.
In this episode of the Veg Grower Podcast, host Richard shares updates from his kitchen garden and allotment, emphasizing winter gardening. He discusses essential tasks like weeding, checking plants, and managing pests, including setting up a scarecrow for pigeons. Richard highlights the importance of maintaining bird feeders and composting kitchen scraps and garden waste. He also shares his efforts to encourage wildlife, such as hedgehogs and ladybirds, and offers pruning tips for raspberry beds. Richard encourages listeners to support the podcast through the supporters club, which offers exclusive content and community benefits. Winter Woes From The Kitchen Garden Last week Richard complained that he felt his kitchen garden was very scruffy. With that in mind Richard decided this week to really turn his attention to tiding the kitchen garden. This meant time was spent clearing away weeds from some of the beds, Protecting brassicas from the hungry pigeons while also trying to provide food and habitat to other birds and nature. Composting is a big part of Richards garden and a lot of the pruning's made over the last couple of weeks have been run through a garden shredder. Providing Richard with plenty of wood chipping. Perfect for use in the compost bins or as a mulch. Continued Weeding On The Allotment Down on the allotment the winter tidy up continues. Each week Richard is focusing his time and energy to one particular area of the allotment that he has struggled to manage. This week that area happened to be his autumn raspberry bed. This area has struggled with couch grass and many weeds over the years that have been very stubborn. But Richard determined to beat the winter woes got stuck in and gave a good sort out of this area. Every Allotment plot has a scruffy area of course but Richard believes we can always do better. Chef Scott's Recipe Of The Week Chef Scott is back once again with another delicious recipe. This week the recipe is this lovely peach and cherry cobbler for a real taste of the summer. Using ingredients Scott has grown and stored in his freezer to bring the taste of summer back in the middle of winter. And Finally The last segment Richard responds to reviews and comments from the last couple of podcast with listeners quest such as Is there any difference in taste between different Rhubarb varaties? IS it worth sowing seeds in January When do i plant out my onion seedlings. These are all from listeners who have rated and review or got in touch. Join us for an enlightening sermon from Pastor Jon Ewton at Woodlands Church as we continue our series "Planting," exploring the pivotal moments in the early church as depicted in the book of Acts. In this episode, we dive deep into Acts 15, a watershed moment that addresses the core question: What is the gospel? Pastor Jon unpacks the challenges faced by the early believers as they grappled with the implications of adding to or subtracting from the pure message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Through engaging illustrations and thought-provoking insights, he emphasizes the importance of recognizing the weeds that can infiltrate our understanding of the gospel. Discover how the simplicity of the good news is often clouded by legalism and the human tendency to complicate what God has made clear. This message is a powerful reminder that our salvation is a gift of grace, not a result of our works, and that true faith transforms our lives. Tune in for a message that will encourage and challenge you to embrace the gospel in its purest form!

St. Luke 8:5-15. In today's homily, Fr. Anthony speaks about how a marriage should function in an Orthodox context and how that translates to our life in the Church. Enjoy the show! +++ Here's the homily I planned on giving before I called an audible. Homily Notes: Tending the Garden of our Souls St. Luke 8:5-15: The Gospel of the Sower “Have you rejected Satan and all his works and all his pomp and all his pride? Have you rejected Satan and all his works and all his pomp and all his pride? Have you rejected Satan and all his works and all his pomp and all his pride?” “Have you accepted Christ? Have you accepted Christ? Have you accepted Christ?” Our affirmation of these questions before our baptism, the sacramental participation that followed, and the fact that we are here today means that we are Christians. We have rejected the way of the world – which is ruled by Satan – and have become part of the New Humanity that is preparing to inherit the New World; a world that is uncorrupted by Satan and the sins of the Old Humanity. To move away from eschatological and theological terms into the beautiful metaphors Christ gave us in today's parable: the seed of perfection (Christ Himself!) has been planted in our souls. A seed is a miraculous thing; it contains all the information needed for the growing of a perfect plant. The DNA is all there. A wheat seed has everything needed to grow up to be a perfect stalk of wheat. More amazingly, a small acorn can grow into an enormous tree. The seed of Christ that has been planted in our souls is jut like that: we have been given everything we need – all the information – to grow into perfect men and women, into saints, into little Christ's… to grow into the kind of peaceful, loving, and productive humans we were conceived and born to become. The perfect seed is within our souls. But is that enough? We have all planted many seeds in our lifetime. Good seeds. Good soil. And yet we know that if we are not careful, we will still end up with a terrible harvest of weeds and brambles. Why? How does this happen? We live in a world that is full of loose spores. The winds are full of the world's little seeds. They, too, carry all the potential of full growth within themselves. At some point, some of these spores are bound to find their way into our gardens … and into the soil of our souls. The corruption of our gardens may begin through inattention – a lack of what we call “nepsis” – but that doesn't explain why we end up with a bumper crop of thistles and thorns, leaving the seed we originally planted weak or even completely dead. How did it happen? It certainly wasn't the seed. And it wasn't just that we weren't paying attention – we always notice when something has changed in our gardens and in our lives. It happened because we didn't bother with the difficult work of weeding. Weeding is such a judgmental term – it assumes a discernment that we have all but forgotten. It requires, for instance, the realization, that Church on Sunday is more important than sports or sleeping in; that Feast Days are even more worthy ways to spend vacation days than trips to the beach; that spending a few minutes in prayer is worth the sacrifice of a few minutes of facebook or television; and that chastity is better in every respect than the transitory joy of serial monogamy, pornography, and adultery. New gardeners can't tell a beautiful weed from beanstalk; they need to learn. We also need to learn. We need to realize 1. That there are such things as weeds; 2. That they are dangerous threats to our souls, our families, and our communities; and 3. That it is our responsibility as human beings (God's imagers on this earth; the New Humans!) to pull them out. Terrible and noxious things have made their way into our souls. We don't like to call them weeds because some of them are pretty and it sounds so judgmental. But as Christ says, you know a plant by its fruit;vand the plants of this world may look nice for a while, but their fruit is death and damnation (see Luke 6:44). The Tree of the Cross is the plant that rises from the well-tended garden of the Christian soul, and its fruit is eternal life.
Given the widespread legalization of cannabis for medical and recreational uses, you'd think we'd have a better understanding of how it works. But ask a neuroscientist exactly how cannabinoid compounds like THC and CBD alter our perceptions or lead to potential medical benefits, and you'll soon learn just how little we know.We know that these molecules hijack an ancient signaling system in the brain called the "endocannabinoid" system (translation: the "cannabinoids within"). These somewhat exotic signaling molecules (made of fatty lipids and traveling "backwards" compared to other transmitters) have been deeply mysterious until recently, when new tools made it possible to visualize their activity directly in the brain. So what is the "day job" of the endocannabinoid system — and how does it connect to the dramatic highs that come with taking THC or the medical benefits of CBD? To unpack all this, we're talking this week with neuroscientist Ivan Soltesz, the James Doty Professor of Neurosurgery and Neuroscience at Stanford, and a leading expert on the endocannabinoid system.Learn MoreThe Soltesz Lab"Weeding out bad waves: towards selective cannabinoid circuit control in epilepsy" (Soltesz et al, Nature Reviews Neuroscience, 2015) "Keep off the grass? In this episode, Sasha and Zoya explore the unique dynamic between the newly emerging legal market for cannabis and the long established black market. When faced with a choice between legal and illegal, why do some consumers still choose the latter? Together with special guest Dr. Tiffanie Perrault we discuss the driving factors that determine the success (or failure) of the legal market, why the black market persists, and where consumers fit in to this complex relationship. This episode provides a comprehensive review of all things cannabis legalization: A primer on legalization and cannabis, the realities of legalization efforts from Uruguay to the Netherlands, and a discussion with Dr. Perrault about her critical work in this subject. Dr. Perrault is an assistant professor of economics at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Prior to this she was a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University. If you're looking for insights into developing a go-to-market strategy, this episode is for you. Chuck Templeton sits down with the team at Sentera, a company that uses remote data collection to empower growers and agribusinesses to make real-time decisions to help improve farm profitability. Sentera's CEO Brian Wenngatz and CTO Eric Taipale take us through their journey to launching Aerial WeedScout, which enables the rapid detection of weeds so farmers can reduce herbicide use and maximize equipment efficiency. To launch this product, the team had to understand how they could best use their expertise in aerial imagery and computer vision to improve farm outcomes. Chuck also talked with S2G's Cristina Rohr about her perspective on the market opportunity for Sentera's technology. From offering a clear and differentiated value proposition to designing an innovative business model to get the product to farmers at the right price point, there are so many aspects of this conversation that are relevant to entrepreneurs in the world of agtech and beyond.Key Topics: Understanding Core Differentiators: Brian and Eric highlight the importance of understanding the company's “unfair advantages” to ensure they continue to stand out from the competition and provide the best possible product to farmers. Offering a Clear Value Proposition: The team shares what they've learned about not only developing a product that addresses both economic and environmental challenges in modern farming but also about how to message those benefits to customers. Finding the Right Sales Channel: Sentera determined that working with ag retailers and trusted advisors would generate more traction than going directly to farmers. Strategic partnerships with leading seed, chemical, and equipment companies have been pivotal for Sentera's market penetration and scalability. Business Model Innovation: Sentera's technology offers the opportunity for a no-upfront-cost approach, which addresses financial constraints and risk aversion among farmers, enabling easier adoption of advanced technologies.Taking a Systems-Based Approach: Understanding the role their technology can play not only on farms but in the broader stakeholder ecosystem has helped Sentera build partnerships and bring together stakeholders to improve opportunities for scale. Be Unmessablewith: The Podcast hosted by Josselyne Herman-Saccio
In this episode, I discuss a process called 'weeding through the BS' to help manage and prioritize tasks on your to-do list. I outline a seven-step process to evaluate each task and determine if it aligns with your vision, values, and goals. The goal is to focus on what truly matters and let go of tasks that drain your energy and time. Headstorm: https://headstorm.com/AGPILOT: https://headstorm.com/agpilot/Carbon Robotics: https://carbonrobotics.com/Paul is the founder and CEO of Carbon Robotics. What Carbon Robotics is doing is novel and interesting in and of itself, and we're going to talk a lot about that in today's episode. But it's important to note that Paul has a really impressive history of building technology companies outside of agriculture. Before starting Carbon Robotics, he co-founded Isilon Systems, a distributed storage company, in 2001. Isilon went public in 2006 and was acquired by EMC for $2.5 billion in 2010. In 2006, Paul co-founded Clustrix, a distributed database startup that was acquired by MariaDB in 2018. Immediately before Carbon, Paul served as Director of Infrastructure Engineering at Uber, where he grew the team and opened the company's engineering office in Seattle, later focusing on deep learning and computer vision. So in today's episode we're going to talk a lot about laser weeding, building a field robotics company, Paul's views on artificial intelligence and where he sees applications for the tech in agriculture, and the challenges an opportunities ahead for carbon robotics and agtech in general. I'll drop you into the conversation where Paul is explaining his desire to jump from tech to agtech, and how that transition has been for him.
