In this intense and reflective episode of Off The Screen, the crew dives into a dramatic NBA Finals showdown that capped off a thrilling season. The hosts dissect the rollercoaster Game 7 between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder, lauding it as an instant classic filled with grit, comebacks, and heartbreak. They spotlight Indiana's underdog run, noting how the Pacers, despite injury setbacks—most notably Tyrese Haliburton's untimely exit—pushed the juggernaut OKC squad to the brink. Rick Carlisle's controversial rotation decisions, especially sitting Pascal Siakam during key stretches, come under scrutiny. The hosts argue that coaching strategy, more than individual player failures, may have cost the Pacers a title.Discussion also shifts to the broader impact of the series. From viewership spikes to fan engagement, the episode underscores how two small-market teams delivered one of the most compelling Finals in recent memory. The guys get philosophical on the injuries that plagued stars like Lillard, Tatum, and Haliburton—all wearing #0—and joke about a “Gilbert Arenas curse.”Looking ahead, they debate the implications of NBA salary cap rules, the looming second apron penalties, and whether stars like Jokic could realistically be moved in future financial crunches.Candid, chaotic, and passionate, this episode celebrates what made this postseason unforgettable—unpredictability, passion, and legacy-defining moments.
The OKC Thunder are your 2024-2025 NBA Champions! But before we crown this young OKC squad, we've got to discuss Tyrese Haliburton's Achilles tear that took him out just 7 minutes into Game 7. Will this be the injury that convinces teams to sit players with calf injuries? Obi Toppin, who scored zero points, vulnerably admitted Hali's injury kept him distracted. Pascal Siakam was a ghost out there and the coaches were shell shocked. Meanwhile, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stabilized his side and etched his name in the history books. For OKC, learning as they went along was not just limited to basketball, they also learned how to pop champagne correctly! The nerds react to Game 7 of the NBA Finals as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeat Pascal Siakam and the Indiana Pacers (without Tyrese Haliburton due to his devastating Achilles injury) to become your new NBA Champions.
Potacast'in sezon finalinde Kaan Kural ve Orkun Çolakoğlu, franchise tarihinin ilk NBA şampiyonluğuna ulaşan Oklahoma City Thunder'ın bu tarihi başarısını ve kıyasıya rekabet içinde geçerek yedinci maça uzayan Indiana Pacers final serisini değerlendiriyor. Uzun yıllar akıllardan çıkmayacak bu maçta Tyrese Haliburton'ın mücadelenin hemen başında sakatlanarak maça devam edememesi, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander'ın MVP ve Finaller MVP'si seçilmesi, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein ve Jalen Williams ile birlikte baştan sonra harika bir maç geçiren Thunder'ın hanedanlık kurma ihtimali gibi konular değerlendiriliyor. Özellikle Tyrese Haliburton'un sakatlanarak maça devam edememesinin Indiana Pacers açısından her şeyi değiştirmesi, Pascal Siakam ve TJ McConnell gibi isimlerin sahanın her yerinde doğru oyunu oynayan Thunder karşısında elinden geleni yapması gibi konuların mercek altına alınmasından sonra sakatlıklar ekseninde Doğu Konferansı'nın Batı Konferansı ile arasındaki kalite farkının önümüzdeki sezon daha fazla hissedilip hissedilemeyeceği üzerinde yoğunlaşılıyor. Şampiyonluğun konuşulmasının ardından gerçekleşen takaslar ve gündemin diğer öne çıkan başlıklarına değinilerek sohbet devam ediyor. Orlando Magic'in Desmond Bane hamlesinin Magic için ne kadar doğru olduğu, Memphis Grizzlies'in Ja Morant'ten çıkamayacak durumda olması ile Morant'in yeteneklerinin sakatlıklar dolayısıyla erozyona uğramasının Memphis için etkileri ile başlayan sohbet, Houston Rockets'ın kadrosuna Kevin Durant'i katmasıyla devam ediyor. Rockets'ın, Durant için takasta verdiklerinin ne kadar akıllıca olduğu, Durant'in, Amen Thompson ve Alperen Şengün'ün takımda kalmasıyla hücum yönünde Rockets'a neler katabileceği gibi konular konuşulurken diğer yandan Phoenix Suns'ın son iki senedir kadro mühendisliği ve organizasyon içinde yaşanan problemler dolayısıyla deyim yerindeyse bir bataklığın içine sürüklenmesinin olası etkileri inceleniyor. Programın kapanışında Los Angeles Lakers'ın tarihin en pahalıya satılan spor kulübü olması konuşuluyor. Lakers'ın NBA bünyesindeki en değerli takımlardan biri olmasına rağmen kulübün eski sahiplerinin Lakers organizasyonunu yönetirken başarısız olduğu konuların yeni yönetimle ortadan kalkma ihtimalinin gelecekte ne gibi etkileri olabileceği üzerinde varsayımlarda bulunuluyor.
Does OKC deserve an asterisk next to its name? Does Rick Carlisle regret having Pascal Siakam on the bench for too long?
Will Lou and Alex Wong react to the Oklahoma City Thunder winning Game 7 over the Indiana Pacers for their first ever championship. They give praise to OKC and to Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, debate whether Tyrese Haliburton's should have been allowed to play before tearing his Achilles, the sobering comments from Pascal Siakam in reflecting on Toronto (1:36:00), and discuss Kevin Durant being traded to the Houston Rockets (45:44).#raptors #nbafinals #pacers #okcthunder Reserve your seat to our 2025 NBA Draft event at NBA Courtside here: https://tables.hostmeapp.com/restaura...Reach out to the show by leaving a voicemail at hellowelcome.show or email the guys info@hellowelcome.showCheck out our merch! Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers break down NBA Game 7. Best bets as always. The podcast episode of RJ Bell's Dream Preview hosted by Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers dives into the upcoming NBA Finals Game 7 between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, focusing on Game 6 recap, player and team statistics, Game 7 historical trends, and predictions. Munaf begins by acknowledging the unexpected extension to Game 7, joking that rapper Drake may be responsible after placing a massive bet on the Thunder in Game 6. Mackenzie reflects on his incorrect prediction and credits Indiana's resilience, noting they've consistently defied expectations. In Game 6, the Pacers delivered a balanced team performance. Tyrese Halliburton, playing through injury, contributed 14 points and 5 assists in 23 minutes. Four starters reached double figures, while Obi Toppin scored 20 off the bench. TJ McConnell added 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Thunder, in contrast, had a dismal shooting night, hitting only 8 of 30 from three-point range, with starters going 1 for 13. They managed just 91 points, their lowest of the season. Defensively, the Pacers adjusted from full-court pressure in Game 4 to a more strategic, trap-heavy defense in Game 6. Mackenzie compares McConnell's impact to J.J. Barea in 2011, praising Rick Carlisle's coaching and noting that he's achieved more with less than most NBA coaches. Munaf suggests Carlisle's legacy could be cemented with a second improbable championship, citing his 2011 win over Miami's Big Three. Looking at Game 7, the Thunder are favored by 7.5 points with a total of 214.5. Historical trends support a close contest: since 2002, 62% of Game 7s have gone under the total, with average victory margins at just 6.9 points. Of the past ten NBA Finals Game 7s, only one had a margin over 7.5. Munaf notes that OKC's strong home record and MVP-caliber season from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) bring added pressure, while Indiana is seen as playing with house money. Mackenzie believes the Thunder's legacy burden may weigh heavier on SGA than any player, contrasting Halliburton's low-risk, high-reward scenario. Referee influence, especially the likely assignment of Scott Foster, could shape the game. Foster is known for calling more fouls and previously officiated two Finals Game 7s, including the 2010 Celtics-Lakers game where LA shot 37 free throws. Munaf warns that if Foster is officiating, foul counts may spike. Both hosts back the Pacers +7.5 as their best bet. They emphasize Indiana's ability to stay within striking distance, citing the last four Finals teams that forced Game 7s after trailing 3–2 all won the title. Regarding props, Munaf favors Pascal Siakam's rebound over (7.5), noting consistent double-digit boards and high minutes. SGA and Caruso are tipped to exceed 2.5 combined steals and blocks, given the high-pressure context. Mackenzie leans under on Halliburton's 15.5 point line, which is near season-low, but suggests parlaying Halliburton overs with a Pacers win if expecting an upset. In closing, the hosts predict a tight, gritty Game 7 in line with NBA history. Both expect Indiana to cover and potentially win, citing momentum, strategic flexibility, and psychological freedom versus the high stakes confronting OKC. Learn more about your ad choices. Tim Legler and Adam Mares break down Game 6 of the NBA Finals, where the Indiana Pacers dominated despite Tyrese Haliburton's injury. They discuss how picking up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander lower on the court helped stifle OKC, why Chet Holmgren was so quiet, and how TJ McConnell's energy continues to be a game-changer. The episode also highlights Pascal Siakam's lockdown defense on Jalen Williams, Obi Toppin's rise as a major x-factor, and the need for more scoring from the Thunder's bench.
