Bob Boze Bell has been a friend for over a decade and has provided various features on western titles by L. Ron Hubbard in True West Magazine. His work has appeared in Arizona Highways, Playboy, National Lampoon, the Arizona Republic, and True West magazine. For ten years (2002-2012), he produced a video version of True West Moments, which aired on the Westerns Channel. In this episode, we discuss what makes a Western story different from other genres, along with the role of research in good storytelling. Bob was ahead of the curve in using social media to grow the popularity of True West Magazine, which we also cover. BBB can currently be seen on the series “Gunslingers,” which runs on the American Heroes Channel. Peter Cozzens is the author of new book Deadwood: Gold Guns and Greed in the American West.  It's a fascinating look into a town with a lot of Wyoming connections.  Wild Bill Hickok wasn't quite the celebrity in Deadwood we all think and Calamity Jane wasn't really the person all her pictures make her out to be.  It's a fascinating history read that feels more like a novel than anything.

Welcome to Day Four of our Sturgis trip, which also happened to be Chris's birthday—making it an extra special one! Today was a little less about riding and a lot more about soaking up the atmosphere in Sturgis and Deadwood.We kicked things off by cruising down the legendary Main Street in Sturgis, weaving through rows of motorcycles lined up for the rally. From there, we explored the Harley shop and browsed the countless vendors and local spots that make the town buzz with energy this time of year.In the afternoon, we rolled over to historic Deadwood, where we visited Saloon No. 10—the iconic spot tied to Wild Bill Hickok's story—along with other famous landmarks scattered throughout the town's lively streets.After heading back to our Airbnb to freshen up, we dove right back into the action for the evening. Between Sturgis and Deadwood, we got to experience the nightlife, the music, and the unforgettable energy that makes this trip one for the books.

Wild Bill had a fight in a saloon that ended with a 7th Cavalry soldier dead and another wounded. There are several versions of the story, but it is believed the soldier's pistol misfired when put against Hickock's head. He fired in self-defense, killing one and wounding another.
