This week, to celebrate the 100th episode of My Weekly Mixtape, I am creating "The Ultimate Mixtape" along with 65 guest curators, all of which were either previous My Weekly Mixtape guests, friends of the show or one of the amazing Patreon Mixtapers. And, because I simply couldn't celebrate 100 episodes in one sitting, this week will consist of three brand-new episodes!  Now, to create this Ultimate Mixtape, I started by asking these 65 different people the same question: If you had to choose one song for the ultimate mixtape (any song / any genre), that would be locked away in a time capsule for others to discover years or decades for now…which song would you choose and why? Now, I'm not lost on the fact that the question is just a spin on the “desert island song” question that a lot of my guests have been asked countless times. The twist for the next few episodes is: I am taking those 65 song choices (all of which are from various bands, artists, decades, genres and tempos), and curating them into what I hope will be a properly sequenced playlist from a musical perspective!  At the very least? This was a fun & unique twist on a question as old as interviews themselves. But at its best? Congratulations, you're listening to The Ultimate Mixtape!!  Guests appearing in Vol. 1 (in no particular order): Robin Wilson of Gin Blossoms, Jim Loughlin of moe., Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel, Don Jamieson of RockStrap & VH1's That Metal Show, Coco Kinnon of Winona Fighter, Bryan Scott of Union Underground, Britt Lightning of Vixen, Sandy MacKinnon of Royal Tusk, Christian Swain of Rock & Roll Archaeology / Pantheon Podcasts, Joe Milliken, Author of “Let's Go! Robin Wilson has been a defining voice in alternative rock for over three decades as the lead singer of Gin Blossoms. With hits like Hey Jealousy, Found Out About You, and Follow You Down, his music became the soundtrack to a generation that continues to resonate today. But beyond his success with the band, Wilson's journey is filled with incredible stories that span music, pop culture, and personal milestones. In our conversation, he shared memories of meeting his ex-wife on MTV's The Jon Stewart Show and having Jon himself get ordained to officiate their wedding. He also reflected on his experiences at Saturday Night Live, getting to play that stage with a number one single on the radio, meeting and hanging with Phil Hartman, and his life as a father—including watching his son carve out his own path in music. We also covered his Arizona roots, his collaboration with Marshall Crenshaw on the soundtrack to Empire Records his work with The Smithereens, and the thrill of getting to front for KISS. On top of that, he's an avid gamer, something I wasn't expecting, but we do a deep dive into classic and modern games. Whether he's touring, recording, or exploring new creative outlets, Wilson remains as passionate about music as ever. For him, that's what all of this is about. This conversation offered a look at not just an artist, but a storyteller with a career full of unforgettable moments. Enjoy!

Graph theory is the study of connections, as may be seen in the London Underground map with stations linked by rails, or a transportation network with cities linked by roads. Dating back to the 18th century, the subject increasingly took hold in the 20th century, developing rapidly from mainly recreational puzzles to a mainstream area of study with widespread applications and strong links to computer science. This illustrated historical talk will survey this century of development.A lecture by Robin Wilson recorded on 13 June 2023 at Barnard's Inn Hall, LondonThe transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: https://www.gresham.ac.uk/watch-now/graph-theoryGresham College has offered free public lectures for over 400 years, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. South Carolina's alternative pop duo The Yets consist of Robin Wilson and Craig Anderson Snook who met when Robin returned to her home state after some years in Georgia. Now based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, their music combines elements of ethereal pop and popular rock classics with a sound embracing  Fleetwood Mac and the Cocteau Twins in equal measure. Breeding and bearing a distinct Americana lining, their debut  EP called "The Yets"  is an emotively cast and atmospherically delightful proposition."In a very general sense, this album is about life: the passage of time, relationships and the consequences of the choices we make along the way. I've always wanted to bare my musical soul, but never had the right vehicle. That musical soul has always wanted to speak to the world, but never had the right voice. The Yets is that vehicle and Robin is that voice,”   says Craig Anderson Snook, who has performed semi-professionally since he was 13. His musical passion led him beyond cover bands into composition, arrangement, audio engineering, production and ultimately to running his own Royal Terns Records label and studio, where he recorded, mixed and produced their EP.After being immersed in the music scene while in high school, Robin found her way to the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where she fronted the goth-rock band Bachelors of Art (B.O.A.). Upon Relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, she fronted the female alt-rock group, Skirt, touring the USA extensively and supporting numerous high profile acts. https://theyets.com/http://theyets1.bandcamp.com

There need to be other voices to validate this event, conference, or whatever the “thing” is to legitimize it.I will take this a step further. Since June I have been diving into GLBA and the fact there is no one seems to be working towards the resolution of the ADF/XML portion. There are companies left and right charging dealerships  a lot of money to be “GLBA Compliant.” HOWEVER, when pushed about this ginormous other portion, they all fall short. My voice is not enough. This episode is brought to you by Sendlane.   One of the mantras of Robin Wilson, chairman and founder of A Blue Egg Corporation, is asking people when they last washed their pillows.   With Blue Egg's brands in the clean home product space, it's a question that's important to get across to customers, she says.   "They're so embarrassed - the average answer was six years," Robin says. "That's drool dander. If you put oils on your hair and have a pet sleeping in your bed, anything you can imagine is on that dirty pillow that now weighs more than when you bought it."   In 2015, she published a book on home health called "Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle." Another book is in the works.   Robin's company also has a social justice campaign called Project Lilac that supplies bed sheets to safe houses or shelters for victims of domestic violence.   "That's just a simple gesture that can put someone on the road to believing in themselves again," she says.   The company's mission is to be an affordable luxury brand for the allergen-aware consumer.   "You don't have to have allergies to get our product," she says. "It's something you can get, though, if you want to prevent and protect yourself because it's woven at a 0.5 micron. So bedbugs and dust mites can't penetrate through the fabric, so it's almost like a tech play on sheets and sheeting."   When sharing wisdom, Robin first cautions about how life advice is dispensed.   "I want to remind people that anyone who gives you advice, often it's from their perspective," she says. "You should take a piece from this and a piece from that and make it your piece. Make it your vision."   What Robin hopes will happen soon is that we'll emerge from the pandemic and get back to the basics of coming together as a community, especially when it comes to socializing with friends and mentors.   "Have people in your life who are connectors," she says. "Those people get great joy from telling and talking to all their friends and saying, do you know about? Did you know about? And make sure there are a few people like that in your world because they will tell everybody what you're doing and why it's so great."   In Part 2, Robin talks about:   * The importance of pillow health. * The words of wisdom in her book. * Her brand's social justice campaign - Project Lilac. * Where you can find Clean Design Home products. * Why sleep is so vital to your health. * The perils of taking just one person's advice. * The importance of socializing with connectors.   Join Ramon Vela and Robin Wilson as they break down the inside story on The Story of a Brand.   For more on A Blue Egg Corporation, visit: https://ablueegg.com/    For her book, “Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle,” visit Amazon.   Subscribe and Listen to the podcast on all major apps. That's where A Blue Egg Corporation comes in, says Robin Wilson, chairman and founder of the holding company for real estate, design, and licensing.   Robin's childhood was spent fighting off a slew of allergies, a challenging situation that she'd later use to her advantage in her career. After starting in the corporate world, she shifted to real estate development and project management.   Robin says she's found resilience and empathy through a network of friends who offer constant reassuring words.   "Don't look at other people - run your race," she says. "Set a goal for yourself. Whatever that goal may be, it may be that you don't want to have any debt in one year. It may be that you want to have enough money to go on a vacation or have a certain amount of money in your bank account if that is your goal. Work toward your goal."   In Part 1, Robin talks about:   * Gratitude to his friends and family who invested in his company and trusted him to use the money wisely. * How her childhood allergies affected her career path. * Why she pivoted into real estate. * Why "resilience" and "empathy" are keywords to her.   Join Ramon Vela and Robin Wilson as they break down the inside story on The Story of a Brand.   For her book, “Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle,” visit Amazon.   For more on A Blue Egg Corporation, visit: https://ablueegg.com/    Subscribe and Listen to the podcast on all major apps. Bad air, toxic household products, and everyday materials that we take for granted could be making us and our loved ones sick. And they are. Approximately 25 million Americans have asthma today; that's about 1 in 13 Americans. Studies reveal the average pillow contains millions of fungal spores, with four to 16 different species per pillow tested. While that's enough to make anyone's skin crawl, our guest today is going to help us sleep more soundly and safely. Robin Wilson is a U.S. lifestyle brand, author, designer, a two-time #1 Amazon bestselling author, and was named to the Inc. magazine Female Founders 100 List in 2020.
