The Agile Self-Development podcast is an absolute delight to listen to. Hosted by Helene, the show offers a refreshing and grounded perspective on self-improvement that sets it apart from other motivational podcasts. With a focus on breaking down the self-improvement process into manageable steps, Helene makes personal growth accessible and relatable for her listeners. The podcast feels like having a warm conversation with friends over a cup of coffee, making it a truly enjoyable and inspiring experience.
One of the best aspects of The Agile Self-Development podcast is Helene's ability to make big ideas feel achievable. By applying agile strategies commonly used in the software development industry to personal growth and projects, she provides practical and actionable advice that can be implemented in daily life. Her episodes are tightly crafted, delivering valuable insights and mind-expanding perspectives that help people thrive both in work and in life. As a busy mom, I appreciate how the episodes are short yet impactful, allowing me to easily fit self-improvement into my hectic schedule.
On the downside, some listeners may find the content of the podcast too focused on personal growth and development. While this is the main theme of the show, those seeking variety or more diverse topics may find themselves wanting more. Additionally, although Helene's approach is grounded in reality, some listeners may prefer a more motivational style typically found in other self-improvement podcasts.
In conclusion, The Agile Self-Development podcast is a gem for anyone looking for practical ways to improve themselves and their lives. With its accessible nuggets of wisdom packed into each episode, listening to Helene feels like receiving guidance from a trusted friend. Her ability to make self-improvement manageable and relatable sets this podcast apart from others in the genre. Whether you're new to personal growth or well-versed in the subject, The Agile Self-Development podcast is definitely worth adding to your list of must-listen shows.

On this episode, you'll hear from Dr Robert Pepper, author of Some People Don't Want What They Say They Want, and a therapist who's been running groups for over twenty-five years and has a special gift in helping member's resolve conflicts with relationships, both personal and professional. In group therapy, members learn to resolve obstacles to developing healthy relationships through interactions between members of the group. Listen now to learn more about what group therapy can do to support healthy relationships.Reach out to Rob at drpepperphd.com.Bonus thoughts from Dr. Pepper around the topic of using your friends to replace therapy: There are at least two reasons why friends and family can't replace group therapy. Frankly, I believe it's quite psychologically naive to think that group therapy is unnecessary if a person has good friends and family. Good friends and family complement group therapy; they don't replace it. For one thing, good friends and relatives usually aren't objective. They have their own biases and opinions about what is best for us. And as "Dear Abby" has so brilliantly observed: "Unsolicited advice is always self-serving". Group members in a secure group environment, are in a better position to see our needs and foibles more clearly. Second, and to my mind more importantly, social relationships are not designed to absorb the full impact of our own, nor friends, family and a life partner's feelings. In group therapy the directive to members is: "Say everything." That is clearly not a wise thing to do in non-therapy relationships. That is because there are some powerful, “dark” feelings that are better left unsaid in close, intense, personal relationships. They are better said in the safe context of a secure group. To share every thought and feeling with a loved one can be hurtful and damaging to the relationship. In group therapy it's different. At the same time, our closest friends and relatives are there to provide TLC when we need it, while group members are there for us only weekly at a specific time and place. The restrictions prohibiting outside contact and physical contact in the group, plus the contract, ensure that there will be no real-life consequences to group interactions and that group is a safe place where members' words can't come back to haunt them in their personal or professional relationships. On this episode, I speak with Rachel Richter who says disconnection is the driving force of negative outcomes in our organizations and lives, and by increasing connection we can unlock greater prosperity. Alignment is the catalyst needed to for increased connection. When people come to Rachel for answers, she often starts with this simple question “Where do you want to create greater alignment and thrive?”Rachel Richter is the Founder and Managing Partner of INLIGN, the premier alignment coaching and advisory practice for teams and organizations seeking to rectify misalignment and enable optimal functioning. Rachel describes alignment as “culture in action.” Out of further demand, she also founded Align & Thrive, the alignment coaching practice for individuals with the purpose of making thriving attainable personally and professionally. As hardships got in the way along her journey, Rachel created her own way to live a life worth living, never losing sight of everything she still had to be grateful for. While enduring a near fatal illness, being a patient of one of the most painful surgeries known to man and losing her mother to a rare disease, she simultaneously innovated and delivered billions of dollars in value for shareholders and the public for over 15 years in both publicly traded companies and federal agencies. Today's guest is Sam LaCrosse, author of Value Economics, The Study of Identity. When I was introduced to Sam, he was described as just a regular guy, “a nobody. He hasn't done anything amazing. He is not extraordinary or impressive. He doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry. He's just an ordinary guy from Cleveland, Ohio, who now lives an ordinary life in Austin, Texas.” Here's what's not so ordinary…Sam got tired of the self-help books falsely telling people they could be anything they want, and he researched and wrote a book to cut through all the hyperbole and put you on a path of self-discovery allowing you to become your most authentic self. “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” —Maya AngelouThis quote opens the book Finally Thriving - Your Guide to Empowered Wellness, from Allison Pelot who is the guest on this episode. When I'd gotten a request to have a self described holistic fitness trainer, nutrition and energy coach on the show, my walls immediately went up. I've had a lifelong struggle with food addiction, an eating disorder, and body dysmorphia, and have serious issues with the diet and fitness industry for taking advantage of people like me. I was sure she'd be like all the others who just take 500 pages to tell you to use willpower, eat this not that, and exercise more. Then, I opened my mind, dropped my preconceived ideas and learned some more about Allison and the book. It turns out I really identified with her holistic approach to our wellbeing. In her book, Allison focuses on self care for your physical, mental, and spiritual well being and how to create a self-care wellness routine to nourish every aspect of your life. Allison Pelot is a dynamic fitness trainer and energy coach specializing in rapid, permanent change through corrective exercise, metabolic nutrition, and energetic alignment. Allison holds a BS in Exercise Science from GA State University and is a certified CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Practitioner. Many of us have heard about the mind body connection and even have examples from our life to prove it. I've got a recurring rash that shows up in times of my biggest stresses and when I'm feeling anxious, my heart races and my fingers shake, and I get queasy. And there are positive affects as well. When I practice yoga, my mind comes to stillness and calm which isn't easy for those of us with an overactive mind. I have no doubt of the body-mind connection, the proof is in the pudding. My guest this episode is somatic therapist and author Todd Nils Nyholm. Through both personal and professional experience, he's discovered the undeniable relationship between mind and body. When stress, poor mental mindset, and negative external experiences convene, Todd maintains that the needs of the body are often the first thing we ignore, closely followed by forgetting to preserve our inner world. His new book, Ah, Brain, Why Do You Trouble Me So Much? speaks to:Rechanneling your mindset from self-imposed boundariesBreaking the chains from external expectationsMaking courageous decisions that prioritize your mind, body, and loved ones over work and other stressorsReorienting your inner compass.More about Todd Nils NyholmTodd Nils Nyholm is a Somatic Therapist working through the body with a number of modalities to help people reconnect with themselves and move towards more health and feeling better. He got into using modern and ancient therapies from all around the world in his own struggles to find health which started at an early age, which lead to a life long search for healing modalities and methods and ultimately the development of his own methods.
