Unlocking the Unconscious Mind: A Journey to Healing with Layton Fulton

Healthy Mind, Healthy Life

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 14, 2025 30:33

In this eye-opening episode of Healthy Waves, host Avik sits down with hypnotherapist and transformational healer Layton Fulton to explore the untapped power of the unconscious mind. From his unconventional midlife awakening to his work with hypnotherapy, engineered sound, and therapeutic psychedelics, Layton shares how releasing and reframing self-limiting beliefs can radically shift your inner and outer world. This isn't just about healing—it's about transformation, intention, and surrender. If you've ever felt stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, this episode is your invitation to begin again, with presence and curiosity.   About the Guest:Layton Fulton is a former oil and gas professional turned hypnotherapist and healing guide. After raising a family as a single father and stepping away from corporate life, he followed his inner calling into consciousness work, sound therapy, and psychedelics. Now, Layton helps clients access deep healing by integrating ancient wisdom with modern modalities. Based in Cochrane, Alberta, he works through his practice Lifecraft to help people rewire their internal narratives and embody lasting change. Key Takeaways: The unconscious mind controls 95% of your daily behavior—rewiring it is key to deep transformation. Common root beliefs like "I'm not enough" or "I'm not safe" can hold you back for decades if unexamined. Tools like hypnotherapy, NLP, sound frequency, and psychedelics help bypass resistance and unlock healing. True change begins with surrender, not force. Presence and curiosity are your most powerful tools. Community plays a vital role in sustained healing—finding your "people" starts with finding yourself. From a very young age, Greg formed a self-identity as a high achiever, and by the time he was a young adult, had become deeply indoctrinated into the idea that happiness is achieved, purchased, and won. But as he pursued the material things he believed would bring him happiness, he felt an emptiness and depression stalking him, getting set to pounce. Unable to escape the paradigm that happiness was achieved, he drove harder and harder toward material success, eventually driving his life off the rails and ending up in prison. Greg shares how his prison experience taught him that we are all beautifully unique beings with a unique collection of gifts, skills, passions and experiences, and at the intersection of all these is purpose. Greg came to believe that when we connect with our purpose, then move love and energy through our purpose in service of our world, we experience the highest levels of meaning and fulfillment available to us, and we manifest the most abundance too! I am in conversation with someone very unconventional, someone who defies the norms and shows us a different path to life. It's none other than Charles Collins. Charles is an Amazon best-selling author of the “LifeCraft Book Series”, which are a collection of novels that present a framework to help make a masterpiece of your life through the application of craftsmanship. Charles' work demonstrates how anyone can learn to practice 'Life-as-a-Craft' to achieve extraordinary results. It is a framework for managing life's many topics based on the way we practice our occupations and professions, vs. the 'hit-or-miss' results of living by trial and error. One of the questions that is prevalent throughout Charles work is about crafting a life that you desire. He says, Craftsmanship is a universal principle that can be applied to any way of working and living. It is the foundation upon which Making a Masterpiece of Your Life is built. It is intended to teach ourselves and our children to value the ancient and time-tested quality of craftsmanship, and to cultivate the spirit of the craftsperson in everything we do; to empower ourselves and our children with the skills to Make A Masterpiece of Our Lives. Today, Charles shares his Five Elements framework for practicing 'life-as-a-craft' via the Life Masterpiece Workshop.com, his LifeCraft book series on Amazon, more than 50 guest appearances on podcasts, and published articles appearing in Thrive Global, Personal Growth, Lifehack, A Parent Is Born, The Good Men Project, Change Becomes You, and his own Life Masterpiece Journal.com The five elements that he talks about are: Family & Personal Heritage - Where you come from, where you are now, and the legacy you will leave to future generations. Family & Household Management - The home you grew up in, and the home you are making right now, and how well you manage it. Family & Personal Finance - What you have learned about managing money, and how you manage it together with your partner. The Human Being - What you know, and how you treat your inner self and your outer self including your diet, your career, and managing your emotions. Tools for Living - What tools you use in your life, and how skillful you are at using them. This week, Taylor takes an adventure with Charles Collins, to talk about the stages and phases that we move through in order to create the masterpiece of our own lives, the opposing energies that bring balance to life and the universe, how we can create the masterpiece that is our own life, and leave behind a legacy for future generations. KEY TAKEAWAYS It's important that within the four phases of apprenticeship, journey work, masterwork and mentorship, we are always learning new topics and improving skills. Every craft, including life, has a series of stages that we pass through on our way to mastery. Every craft has a body of knowledge (what to learn). Many spiritual and mystical schools teach that there is a balance between forces of energies in the world (yin yang for instance), and that they are exact compliments to each other. We cannot have one without the other. What we have received, and what we are passing on to the future generations is our own immortality. This contribution will perhaps become anonymous to those beyond us, but it is still invaluable. BEST MOMENTS 'It's important to understand the context of moving through apprenticeship, to journey work, to masterwork, on to mentorship' 'In any event all of those collectively go into creating us - the unique masterpiece of our own lives - if we are the craftsperson of our own lives' 'It's a guide, but it also at the same time an organising structure' 'In spiritual traditions there's a great understanding that there is always a tension between chaos and order' 'At some point, you and I will cease to be, and it's what we create going forward. We are creating, even incrementally, a family heritage' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Adventures Of Self Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.adventures.of.self/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The.Adventures.of.Self To register for the Creative Masculinity webinar go to www.galliant.life/creative-masculinity ABOUT THE GUEST Charles Collins is the best-selling author of the LifeCraft book series (available on Amazon), producer of the companion Making A Masterpiece of Your Life audio collection (available on Apple Podcasts), and Publisher of Life Masterpiece Journal (available on Medium).
