My name is Dr. Kate. I am a movement educator, chiropractor, yoga instructor, and anatomy nerd. I want to bring more balance to people's lives and make it possible for them to continue to do their physical hobbies while staying injury free for the long term. I have a heavy focus in post partum, pelvic floor work, diastasis recti, c section work, and core function. I follow a lot of the principles of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization. I feel that you can fix so much with addressing core imbalances and breath work. This is for the person wanting to learn MORE about their bodies and take ownership of keeping themselves functioning at their best and for the movement professional (yoga instructor, chiropractor, PT, pilates instructor, etc) that wants to learn more on how to help curate a better experience/fix for their patient or client. I am a continuing ed JUNKIE. Take advantage of all of the courses I have taken and continue to take along with clinical practice and distilled down into a more palatable experience.

In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the Cat Cow pose and when the Segmental Cat Cow pose is for you. I wanted to talk about this in this podcast because when we do the Cat Cow pose, we stretch the bendiest parts. We want to make each joint move to its fullest capacity but because the body likes to take the path of least resistance, those areas that might be more restricted and have less movement are not going to get the benefit of the movement. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [2:19] What I am checking when I ask my patients to touch the floor [3:58] The Cat Cow pose and what we check [5:11] The Segmental Cat Cow pose – when is it for you and why is it good for you [7:10] The difference between Cat Cow and Segemental Cat Cow – how to do them [13:31] Why the spine is a great place to start with mobility [14:59] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the in-person workshops we've been doing at the office for the past month. One of the workshops is about diastasis recti last weekend. I wanted to talk about this in this podcast because I have gathered from seeing patients in my office that many people have Diastasis Recti and they do not even know it. They may have struggled for years from low back, and hip pain, and they might have been told that they have a weak core. However, not knowing if you have Diastasis Recti and jumping into core work blindly could lead to more issues. In this episode we discuss: [00:35] Introduction to the topic [4:27] The first thing we did during the Diastasis workshop [6:17] How asymmetries can affect you [8:47] What to work on first if you have Diastasis Recti [11:20] What is the next step for dealing with Diastasis Recti [15:51] Knowing where your weakness lies to help with Diastasis Recti [16:54] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about what is shockwave therapy. I am considering putting it in my office for my patients to use because it is a type of therapy that works really well with musculoskeletal issues, specifically chronic-related matters like adhesions and scar tissues. I see these issues all the time in the office because I don't just do adjusting as a chiropractor. I've done different myofascial work in the office with my patients and I do get great results with my hands and my tools. However, there are still some issues where it will be more helpful to get extra help from shockwave therapy. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [1:43] What is shockwave therapy [3:51] Patients' experience with shockwave therapy [5:07] Shockwave therapy is not invasive [6:41] Shockwave therapy helps with better blood flow [7:32] A doctor's experience with shockwave therapy [9:34] Shockwave therapy for endometriosis, erectile dysfunction, and other issues [12:42] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about getting that lateral breath in your rib cage. We've done a lot of talking on breathing, but today I want you to check your rib cage and see if you have a barrel chest or a compact ribcage. You have to know that having either affects your breathing. In this episode we discuss:[00:37] Introduction to the topic[3:13] Intercostal expansion breathing[4:39] The proper breathing for the newly postpartum or those who are barrel-chested[6:52] The proper breathing for those who have compact ribcages[9:32] Not being stuck in being barrel-chested or having a compact ribcage[11:18] One way to know if you have a rib flare or the narrowing of the rib cage[12:08] Asymmetry of the rib cage[12:48] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the importance of the tongue. I asked on our Just Breathe site, “Where do you typically place your tongue?” People were pretty interested in what does that have to do with anything and what is it connected to. Actually, where our tongue goes, our body tends to follow. That is why the placement of your tongue is important and I'll let you understand more about this in this podcast In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [1:12] Where our tongue goes, our body tends to follow [2:13] How the orofacial opening is connected to the pelvic floor [5:46] The tongue in connection with the lymph [7:14] The tongue and the rest and restore mode [8:57] The tongue and nose breathing [12:56] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about how when you are rehabbing an injury, or some type of issue, your progress is never linear. You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about a topic that might be uncomfortable for many people: orgasms. However, orgasms actually play a role in affecting your pelvic floor health that is why I wanted to talk about this subject. In this episode we discuss:[00:35] Introduction to the topic[00:50] How orgasms keep your pelvic floor healthy[3:53] Pelvic Floor Dysfunctional Issues and pain with penetration – these have nothing to do with orgasm[6:16] Importance of orgasm for peri-menopausal women[8:05] Your clitoris in relation to orgasm and pelvic floor health[15:10] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the birth and labor mindset. I have a ton of first-time pregnant patients in the office right now, and I thought it would be a good time to talk about this mindset and how important it is no matter what kind of birth plan you have in mind. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [3:13] How to relax your nervous system [8:23] Focusing on your breath: how it helps with the nervous system [10:03] A fast birth is not necessarily a better birth [11:31] Perineal Pressure: a game changer [13:11] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about acute issues and flare-ups that people have. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about pooping, pelvic floor, and back pain. Here, I discussed how your bowel movement can be connected to how your low back feels, your SI joint feels, and how your pelvic floor is functioning. These are the things I feel like we don't talk often about. Women's health talks a lot about urinary incontinence but not so much about the fecal involvement. In this episode we discuss:[00:36] Introduction to the topic [1:24] Pelvic floor dysfunction and issues with stool [5:17] Why a good, healthy stool pattern is going to affect you [8:56] Half Happy Baby yoga pose – a great little check-in with yourself [11:14] Accessing the back half of the pelvic floor [16:24] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about belly breathing versus 360 breathing because I haven't done one in a while. It is one of the things that I do with every single patient who comes to my office. I deal with a lot of people who are stressed, have pelvic floor issues, and learning to breathe better is really going to help anyone. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [1:05] Belly Breathing – Its Effects [8:05] Belly Breathing and Diastasis Recti [14:52] Proper Breathing Pattern [15:41] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the connection between the pelvic floor to your feet and jaw. The pelvic floor is actually broadly connected to many parts of your body and I wanted to share how sometimes, we treat other areas of your body that are not even anywhere near the pelvic floor but have a direct correlation with it. I talked about how Anatomy Trains by Thomas Myers helped me understand how the pelvic floor is connected to our feet and our jaw so I decided to share it with you, too! In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [1:14] What are Anatomy Trains [2:22] How the pelvic floor is connected to your feet [6:23] How the pelvic floor is connected to your jaw [9:00] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about the connection between the pelvic floor and stress. I did a couple of podcasts separately for these two topics, but now I decided to combine them in one podcast since I see both issues show up a ton with patients. I also talked about the importance of proper breathing to help with the effects of having a shortened pelvic floor because of stress. In this episode we discuss:[00:37] Introduction to the topic [2:14] What happens to the pelvic floor when we are stressed [5:28] Shortening of the pelvic floor doesn't always show up as incontinence [8:02] Long-term effects if you have incontinence or leakage [10:27] Breathing to get the elongated musculature of your pelvic floor [16:22] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about some updates two weeks post-operation. I will be visiting my surgeon tomorrow and see how things have been panning out after the surgery. I already shared with you the healing things, such as grounding, I started doing post-operation. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about reviews of some of the new products I got for the office. They are from the company called RockTape, and we do use a lot of their products in the office because they have a really good continuing education program aside from the Kinesio tape that they are so famous for. Here, I talked about the products and courses I love from RockTape and the new products I just got, which will dive into vibration versus percussion massage guns. Vibration has a lot of benefits and I hope you learn a lot from this episode. In this episode we discuss: [00:37] Introduction to the topic[3:34] The new products I got from RockTape and my reviews[5:39] Vibration vs Percussion Massage Guns[15:10] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about grounding. I recently posted and asked people if they've done grounding that day. Many of them asked what is grounding so I thought I should talk about it in this podcast. I recently also got a pair of shoes from a company that I've used in the past and they are grounding footwear. I wanted to share how you can start using minimalist footwear, too. For this episode, though, I talked a lot about how grounding can benefit you and anyone of all ages. In this episode we discuss: [00:34] Introduction to the topic [3:25] The Earth's electromagnetic frequency – how it can help with inflammation and healing [6:06] The subtle shift of not having much contact with nature [9:31] Different ways to ground yourself [14:40] How grounding helps with sleeping and more [16:27] Grounding is great for kids, too [18:09] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I recorded my 52nd episode, which means I've been doing a podcast once a week for an entire year! With this, I hope to bring in more people to interview to educate you about treatments you've never heard of, different aspects of women's health, and help you be more proactive with your body and your health overall. For this episode, though, I talked a lot about the importance of movement in general, why I decided to create a new pregnancy program, and doing preventative measures to help us manage our health in the long run. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [1:28] The importance of movement [3:15] The insurance system in the country in relation to health [4:19] My experience on being healthy and doing preventative measures [8:01:] Women's health and the new pregnancy program I am working on [8:55] Movement keeps you healthy [14:38] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked my new pregnancy program. I talk a lot about C-section rehabilitation, pelvic floor issues, diastasis recti, and more. However, I wanted to find a program that is most suitable for pregnant patients since I work a lot with them. With the insurance system that we have, my pregnant patients will only come to me when they are already in pain. So, I wanted to have a program for them so they can work on certain exercises, mindset, and movements before they even have pain. The program will also prevent pain or issues, help moms deliver and recover easily, and avoid medical interventions. In this episode we discuss: Introduction to the topic My birth story inspiring this new pregnancy program Pregnancy pitfalls you don't want to deal with Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked more about medicine not being black and white. I already talked about this topic weeks ago when I told you guys about when I went for a check-up because I've been feeling fatigued. The PCP who saw me missed my issues with my thyroid, and I had to ask my Gynecologist during our yearly check-up to check if there is an issue in the area. She did find that after ordering me to get an ultrasound and it was confirmed when I underwent a biopsy and molecular testing. I wanted to talk more about this to dive into the other possible things you could consider if you have the same issues as mine. In this episode we discuss: [00:37] Introduction to the topic [1:44] One shade of grey in medicine based on my experience [5:05] Pushing a bit more when you know something is wrong [8:07] The problem with insurance companies [10:00] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about what constitutes a pelvic floor issue. I think some people are misinformed about pelvic floor dysfunction and because they are misinformed, they are in denial about having an issue relating to this area. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [:] A patient's story [06:01] Other interesting reasons why people don't believe they have pelvic floor issues [08:01] You don't have to give birth to have pelvic floor issues [9:20] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about healing, fertility, and pelvic health in relation to blood flow. The blood flow system and the lymph system work closely together. Since I already talked about the lymph system in an earlier podcast, I wanted to share about the blood flow system, too. Also, with women's health, blood flow always kept popping up in my interviews with my patients, so I decided to share more about it here. In this episode, we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [2:10] Blood flow and fertility [4:07] The latest blood flow course by Dr. Perry Nicklesten [7:15] Blood flow and pelvic health [9:33] Blood flow and abdominal issues – whether digestive or reproductive [10:49] Blood flow and extremity issues [11:58] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening, and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about medicine being gray and not black and white. I wanted to discuss what kinds of questions you need to be asking when you go to your doctor for an evaluation and when should you get a second opinion. I decided to do this because I recently went to a PCP appointment, which I haven't gone to in a long time. When I got my results back, they were all normal, but I think it wasn't a comprehensive process to take a look at a broader scope as to what has been causing my fatigue. Days after, I had my Gynecology yearly visit and my gynecologist found something that the PCP practitioner didn't catch. Doctors are humans and they can miss things just as I missed some in my practice. I wanted to talk about this so that people will realize that medicine is grayer than we would like to believe. In this episode we discuss: [00:36] Introduction to the topic [7:30] Being persistent, asking for second opinion, and further testing when it comes to your health [13:31] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know! You can also check my TikTok account as I use the platform to educate viewers about movement, chiropractic education, yoga, pregnancy, and more! Thank you for listening and see you next week!
In this week's episode of Form, Function, and Flow Lab, I talked about how prevention is so much easier than fixing a problem when it comes to pregnancy. It's not usually how things happen in the office because people come to the clinic when they are already having an issue after talking to their OB-GYN. Another factor that creates this situation is the insurance system in our country. You cannot go and see a practitioner if you have no problems yet. That is why I wanted to talk about some tips to help pregnant women out there prepare their bodies so they can have an easy pregnancy. In this episode we discuss: [00:37] Introduction to the topic [2:22] Being active during pregnancy [4:17] Keeping your nervous system relaxed [5:29] Tapping into your core [8:13] Lying on your back [10:38] Rolling to your side before sitting up [11:22] Breathing [12:20] Conclusion If you have any questions, you can drop it in the comment section or you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. I'd be happy to do another podcast about your questions. Also, if you want me to talk about something specific, let me know!
