It brings immediate equanimity to the mind and can be returned to throughout the day.Nadi Sodhana Pranayama or Anuloma Viloma (Alternate Nostril Breathing). This intermediate practice involves breathing through one nostril at a time. It is a potent way to purify and balance your subtle energetic pathways.Bhramari Pranayama (Buzzing Bee Breath). In this guided meditation session, I, Cha Wilde, will lead you through a series of mindful breathing exercises and grounding practices. Let's begin by finding a comfortable seated position. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly, and let's focus on our breath together. 00:00:01 - Opening and Breathing Instructions Welcome, everyone. I invite you to settle into your seats and connect with your breath. Breathe in deeply through your nose, and let's become aware of the natural rhythm of your breath as you find your center. 00:00:53 - Mindfulness and Body Awareness Now, let's bring our awareness to our surroundings while also turning inward. Keep your eyes soft, gazing gently downward, and feel your heartbeat as you sit tall. Remember, it's perfectly okay for your body to slump; just as in life, we can gently lift ourselves back up. 00:03:14 - Breathing Techniques and Mantra I'll guide you through a breathing pattern now: inhale for four counts and exhale for six. Let's make that exhale a little longer, as it helps to calm the mind. I'll introduce a mantra for you to repeat: “I am here.” Feel free to place your hands on your knees, palms facing down to ground yourself, or up to open your heart. 00:09:17 - Closing Remarks As we approach the end of our session, I want to thank you for taking this time to be present with me. Remember, by cultivating peace and love within yourself, you can share that energy with others throughout your day. Let's take one last deep breath together before we finish. ------------------------ ✨ Welcome to Cha Wilde's YouTube channel dedicated to healing. Positive persuasion takes sincerity, honesty, and respect. You need to communicate effectively and build rapport with your audience, whoever they are. In this Speaking About Speaking episode, I discuss how you can speak confidently and persuasively. As my friend and fellow speaker, Andrew Thorp says, we are all in the persuasion business. Whenever we speak, we hope to influence, build trust, and create emotional bonds, whether for business, a relationship or as a parent but how do we do that without crossing over to the dark side of manipulation and arrogance? I start the episode by sharing my 5 top tips on speaking with confidence... 1. Believe what you are saying. 2. Breathe 3. Be prepared 4. Vocal variety 5. Tell a story And then I talk about the devices and techniques we can use to influence and persuade, in a good way.

The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 321: Accessible Yoga & Pelvic Health with Jivana Heyman   Description: Why is pelvic health important and how can we make it more accessible in our yoga classes? In this episode, which first aired on the Accessible Yoga Podcast hosted by Jivana Heyman, Shannon Crow appears as the special guest to talk about pelvic health and making it accessible.   Jivana Heyman is the founder and director of the Accessible Yoga Association, an international non-profit organization devoted to making yoga teachings more accessible. He is also the author of Yoga Revolution: Building a Practice of Courage & Compassion and Accessible Yoga: Poses & Practices for Every Body.   Jivana and Shannon kick off this episode by discussing their shared love for supporting and connecting yoga teachers to each other and to information and their messy process of learning. Shannon then shares more about why she started Pelvic Health Professionals, the role of gendered language in discussing pelvic health, and how it plays a part in yoga. They also discuss trauma, fear–based language vs clear contraindications, what it really means to engage the pelvic floor, the core, and the difference between weak and relaxed pelvic floor. Tune in to learn more about how to share about this important topic with your students in a way that is accessible to all!   Key Takeaways: [1:39] Shannon introduces her guest for this episode - Jivana Heyman. This podcast episode was originally recorded for the Accessible Yoga podcast. [4:18] Jivana introduces Shannon and she tells listeners a little more about herself. [8:26] Being open to new information and learning is so important, and it can be a messy process. [10:36] Shannon invites experts in pelvic health to share information with other professionals. Is she intimidated by the expertise others bring to the table in her membership community? [13:09] Pelvic health is often seen as a gendered topic that applies more to cis-gender women or people who are giving birth. [14:49] How does Shannon help the people she works with connect with their pelvic floor without gendered language? [16:37] Jivana voices his frustration that there are a lot of gender assumptions in yoga spaces as well. [20:14] If you are keen to learn more about gendered language, Shannon has a coupon code for you. [21:08] What could it look like if yoga teachers started exploring how to remove gendered language from their classes? [23:20] Jivana and Shannon discuss how anatomical terms should be used in trauma-informed teaching. [26:13] Shannon gives a shout out of thanks to sponsors, OfferingTree and Pelvic Health Professionals. [28:10] What are some specific things yoga teachers could be saying to help yoga students understand more about pelvic health within the context of a yoga class? [31:27] Jivana highlights contraindications in yoga and the pushback against that in the yoga community. Shannon offers some tips on how to avoid fear-based language. [38:36] Shannon shares how she provides yoga cues without using fear-based language.  [41:41] It's common for yoga teachers to cue engagement of the pelvic floor or core. Shannon explains why this may not be a useful cue and how to cue this engagement instead. [47:05] What is the connection between the breath and the pelvic floor? [51:30] Being aware and staying within your scope of practice as a yoga teacher is very important. When we are anxious or stressed our breaths become very shallow and we don't fully draw air into our lungs. Intentionally focusing on our breath help us lower our heart rate, blood pressure, increase energy levels, decrease anxiety and stress, improve sleep, and allow for a more focused mine. Basically, allowing us to be in the driver seat and in control of our lives! We all have a few minutes in the morning, while we're driving, at lunch, in between meetings, during naps....to look inward and focus on our breathing. It is free. Easy. And will change your life if you keep working at it. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christy-payne/message

Hello. Welcome to “Inviting Calm” with Anita. So many of us struggle with self-care. With all the varied demands of life - who has time? We must make the time not only because it is important for our own well-being but also for those around us. It is the idea that our body is a vessel-a container- if we keep depleting the container, it will run out. So, in order to give to others, we need to have it to give or we will be attempting to give from a depleted source- ourselves. The good news is that we can incorporate different self-care practices throughout our day that do not require a great deal of time and can be done anywhere. Breathwork and meditation can go anywhere! Fully transportable And no equipment needed- just ourselves and a willingness to practice. Today we will be practicing belly breathing. This is also something that can be done with younger children. People of all ages may find this useful. If the hand on your chest is moving but not your belly, you are breathing in a shallow way. Begin by finding a quiet place to sit or lie down. If practicing for the first time, lying down may make it easier for you to understand what belly breathing actually feels like. Eyes may be closed or soft gaze.

Globally, there is an upward trend in the number of people living with and impacted by mental health conditions. This means we may have students in our classes with mental health conditions that we don't know about. How can we best support these students within our scope of practice? Dr. Lauren Tober shares more.   Dr Lauren Tober is a Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Teacher and certified iRest Meditation Teacher with a passion for health, healing, happiness and awakening. She is the founder of Awake Psychology, an online Australia-wide psychology practice, the Centre for Mind Body Wellness in Mullumbimby (Australia) and teaches Yoga Teachers around the world about mental health with the Mental Health Aware Yoga training. Lauren has also created several acclaimed online courses, and her work has been featured in many publications.   Lauren explains what is and isn't in our scope of practice as yoga teachers when it comes to mental health, and how we can support people with mental health conditions without overstepping our boundaries. Lauren also offers tips on what to do when someone cries in a yoga class, how to create a safe container in a yoga class that may have students with mental health issues we don't know about, and how we can support students outside of yoga.   Key Takeaways: [2:13] Shannon shares a book she is learning a lot from - One Native Life by Richard Wagamese. [4:44] Shannon has a few announcements to share about upcoming events and offerings. [8:16] Shannon introduces the guest for this episode - Dr. Lauren Tober. [15:55] What lies within the scope of practice for yoga teachers when it comes to helping people with their mental health? [18:41] Lauren works with yoga teachers around mental health to give them enough information to help their students. [21:17] It is common for people to break down and cry in yoga classes. What should yoga teachers do in that moment? [26:34] What might Lauren say to someone who cried during the yoga class to check in with them at the end of the class? [27:39] What should yoga teachers do if students start to open up about their struggles or mental health challenges? [30:06] Lauren recommends having a list of professionals you can refer people to - e.g. doctors, naturopaths, psychologists. [34:13] What is something related to mental health challenges that Lauren wishes yoga teachers knew. [38:12] What are Lauren's thoughts on using touch in a yoga class? [43:49] Shannon pops in with a warning about strong language. [45:12] Shannon gives a shout out to sponsor OfferingTree. [48:42] There is a common misconception among yoga teachers that if you do enough yoga, you don't need any mental health support. Lauren shares her thoughts on this. The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 267: Thoughts on Belly Breathing with Shannon Crow   Description: As human beings, we are always learning new information. Sometimes, this new information conflicts with our current beliefs or knowledge, so we need to be willing to dig in and explore this - and if we are wrong, to admit it and change our beliefs. This happened to Shannon Crow (she/her) with belly breathing.   You may have learned about the benefits of belly breathing in yoga class or yoga teacher training or even taught it to your students. However, it may not be the best practice for everyone. In this episode, Shannon reflects on how she came to change her views on belly breathing and how she now teaches breath to her students instead. She shares her own experiences as a yoga teacher and a yoga practitioner from what she has learned and then unlearned. If you have ever taught breathing in a yoga class, this episode is for you.    Key Takeaways: [3:14] Shannon introduces her topic for this episode and why she was inspired to share about it. [4:58] Shannon shares a little about an upcoming online workshop she is hosting with OfferingTree. [6:39] Shannon learned about belly breathing in yoga classes and in yoga teacher training. Eventually, she realized that what she knew or believed about belly breathing may not be correct. [8:54] The more research Shannon did into belly breathing, the worse she felt for teaching it the way she was. She reflects on how she felt at that time. [10:04] What happens when we take a breath? Where does the breath begin? [13:24] What do we really mean when we say belly breathing? [15:38] Some things associated with belly breathing can put additional pressure on the pelvic floor, and this may not be desirable for some people. [20:46] We are always going to be learning new information, and as yoga teachers, we need to explore how we can move with grace to explain to our students why we have shifted certain things we teach. Belly breathing  is really important for oxygen exchange. If you're shallow breathing and kind of rapidly it's going to get rid of a lot of your carbon dioxide, which a lot of people think, it's a waste product, but carbon dioxide creates the right pH of the environment to be able to have the oxygen release from the red blood cells, so that our cells can utilize them.Podcast website: https://fearlesswellnesscoaching.com/podcast-2/

Adrienne Bergthold shares with Michelle ways in which to have a better relationship with breathing and improve the quality of our breath. She explains the ways in which our breath can become interrupted or restricted, why softening the tension and rigidity within the body is so vital for breath, and why focusing strictly on belly breathing can cause issues. She reminds us that our nervous system, our brain, and our cells all remember how to breathe, and that ease of breath can begin to come back. Our lungs and our bodies can return to what they know. We can receive the breath and then gently let it go. Adrienne also provides beautiful tips for pregnant people to breathe with their baby in the womb. “[With] most people, first of all, there's no movement in the abdominal area. If people are belly breathing they're either hyper-focusing on that to the detriment of any movement at all above, locking down the ribs and the neck, or there's no movement at all in the lower and there's tension, stress, and anxiety which forced the thoracic up, and all that tension up. And, people's breathing is shallow and just superficial chest breathing.” —Adrienne BergtholdAbout Adrienne Bergthold: Adrienne is a married 53 year old mother of two children, ages 32 and 16 years old. A California native now living in Baltimore, Maryland who has been practicing as a medical massage therapist, yoga teacher, and doula for almost 30 years as well as a Calm Birth teacher-instructor.  Adrienne says, "Teaching about the breath and meditation is the heart and foundation of all I teach, which is why Calm Birth was the perfect fit for me when I found it almost 16 years ago. My love for Calm Birth has only grown more deeply.
