Hey there, all! Welcome to "Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road" with Mr. P. Explores; going back to my old radio daze and continuing on the thread of my love for telling a good story, I've decided to give the whole "Podcast/talking at people on the YouTubes" thing a stab, focusing on...well, "Tales from the Road," where every episode I tell a few stories from urban exploration adventures, talk photography, discuss history and oddball happenings, maybe answer a few questions from listeners and whatever else may come to mind! No idea where this is going to go, but hopefully you'll enjoy the ride!
Hey all! Welcome to another episode of “Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road!” In this edition, we return to Eastern New York to wander once again through the grandiose ruins that make up a forlorn, abandoned and century-plus old Kirkbride mental hospital, and discuss a historical project ongoing there. We'll also find out what it's like to travel across a state only to turf out completely on several attempted explorations! History and tales abound, so steam a few tasty dumplings, pour a smooth and tasty mead of your choice, start driving towards your distant destination, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of “Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road!” In this edition, I spill tea on the amazing cultural party that was the 2025 Marche du Nain Rouge in Detroit, and then we hit the road out into the wilds of Michigan to discuss a grim and rather disturbing exploratory adventure we undertook within an abandoned and out of the way funeral home crematorium. A very personal tale, this one. So, buckle up, grab some crunchy gas station snacks, a frosty Big Gulp of something caffeinated and carbonated, start driving towards your distant destination, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of “Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road!” In this edition, we sashay on down to St. Louis, Missouri to tell a glorious tale of beer. German immigrant beer. Or in this case, the now-abandoned brewery once owned that once produced a special family-recipe brew that saw its rise and fall in the Gateway to the West. Plenty of frothy but crisp history and tales abound, so tap a solid beer of choice, raise your frosty stein in the air, shout out a lusty "Ziggy Zaggy, Ziggy Zaggy, Oi, Oi, Oi,” eat a nice big warm, freshly baked and salted pretzel (preferably with mustard), listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we again dive into a very personal and sometimes taboo subject that surrounds and affects many of us out there in the creative world; the often heavy and shadowy realm of mental health. We'll also talk about how the art of urban exploration and photography helps us cope with and overcome those twin beasts of depression and anxiety. This is a topic very close to my heart for obvious reasons and one that I am very passionate about, having dealt with depression for over forty years as a parent, a teacher, explorer, friend and a human being, so tales and thoughts will abound; grab a warm beverage of choice (with or without some kind of liquid special ingredients), make yourself a nice thick sandwich of the meaty persuasion, listen in and enjoy the show! I hope that you find it relevant, supportive or at the very least, eye opening. Have a great weekend and we'll see you in next week's episode! -Mr. P.Swing by and subscribe to the Mr. P. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we travel north to the Badger State to explore the backroads of Wisconsin, complete with a run in with possibly rabid raccoons, a historical plane in the middle of the woods, a secluded religious cult's hideout, and of course, plenty of delicious Wisconsin cheese curds. Plenty of history and tales abound, so mix yourself up an Old Fashioned, tuck into something deep fried and/or cheese-related, settle down, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all, and Happy New Year! Welcome to a new season of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road; the 4th year kick off! In this first-of-the-year edition, we head back to the Motor City to swashbuckle our way through the vegetation-choked ruins of the Belle Isle Zoo! Maybe it's not as daring and as adventure-filled as anything Indiana Jones might tackle, but this particular location is one of the most unique of Detroit, Michigan's abandoned offerings. So, join me for the beginning of a whole new season; plenty of history and tales abound, so (on your New Year's diet), grab your stein full of ice-water, maybe snag a turkey sammich and warm up some chicken noodle soup to stay warm, listen in and enjoy the show! In this edition, we take a trip up to the shores of Lake Erie to tell the tale of a much-loved, well-remembered and long vanished amusement park on Cleveland, Ohio's East Side; EUCLID BEACH PARK. I'll talk about the history of one of the most unique places in Cleveland history, as well as my own obsession with the place, which closed years before I was born, and some of the exploratory missions we took to document the remains that once existed. Hey all! Welcome to a special Halloween episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this seasonal edition, I spin a few yarns about some personal, creepy and rather strange situations I've found myself in over the years, both exploring on the road and in different places in life way back in the day! Ghosts?Spirits? Something else? Listen in and be the judge! Either way, they make for good tales to hear on All Hallow's Eve, as the sun goes down, the air turns crisp and the shadows get long. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we travel back to the Magic City of Gary, Indiana, to wander through two of the former industrial powerhouse's two remaining large, rusting and relatively-intact factories. Places that have become canvases for graffiti artists, dumping spots for trash and worse, and places where we find our photographical gold and sad stories as we document the grim downfall of a once fully-throttled steel town. As always, tales and history abound, so load up on your explore beverage of choice (Gatorade, Monster, water, what-have-you), snag up a delicious plate of fried fish at Shark's on Broadway in Gary, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we look back on summer adventures in the Windy City and go rummaging through two massive industrial gems in Chicago, Illinois; one, a power plant that helped build America's arsenal in the fight against fascism, and then off to wander through a vast factory that once built mining trains for large scale digs. Tales and history abound, so get yourself a nice, cold beer of choice, order up some Chicago-style deep dish pizza, get comfy, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we head to the East Coast near the Big Apple to take a look at an amazing collection or rusting and forgotten tugboats, sinking slowly into the tidal mud between the shores of New Jersey and Staten Island, as well as take a peek at a massive and interactive work of architectural art built atop what used to be a former train yard in Manhattan. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we travel to Western New York, to within miles of the thundering awesome spectacle that is Niagara Falls, to a neighborhood that was once a thriving example of suburban bliss. A neighborhood that, despite its idyllic streets and family cookouts and kids playing in the backyards, was harboring a hidden and nightmarish secret under the feet of its oblivious inhabitants. This is the story of Love Canal, New York; a tale of toxic waste, industrial shenanigans and the lasting effects of corporate greed gone hog wild upon hundreds of innocent lives in what should have been a slice of the American dream. Tales of this insane story from one of America's worst ecological and health disasters, our own adventures to the Canal and plenty of history abound, so grab a glass of sweet iced tea, sizzle up a burger or hotdog on the grill, listen in and enjoy the show! A short, short episode this week, as your's truly has a raging sinus infection going on, but a little something for y'all, nonetheless! In this edition, we head down to the hot, sweaty and humid climes of South Carolina to check out an abandoned musical theme park and sashay on down to one of the most peaceful places on the planet, a stone “castle” and home to an early 20th Century artistic power couple. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, I go back to a discussion I had with you all way back in my first season of this podcast, a reboot and retelling of what I called a “Love Letter to the City of Detroit, Michigan,” to explain just why I continue to go back to the Motor City over and over and over again. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we hop into a Mr. Fusion-powered DeLorean and head back to the 1980's to talk about movies that inspired a personal exploratory drive for yours truly; the 1980's were THE GOLDEN AGE for cinematic adventures, and here, I'll talk about three of my favorite flicks that really got me into the exploring business at a young age. From pirate adventures to melting Frenchmen to railway hikes, we'll talk about three of the best movies that the decade of my childhood had to offer; As always, tales will be told and plenty of smoky theatered, sticky floored movie history will abound, so procure a large fountain cola and a giant bag of buttery popcorn in the lobby, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we head back to the City of Brotherly Love to find out about how the future once looked like to the eyes of those designing it in the 1970's, via a controversial yet intriguing style of architecture called BRUTALISM. It's not all dry history here; I promise the tale leads somewhere, as by the end, I'll be telling tales of the best example of abandoned Brutalism I've ever had the opportunity explore and document; the infamous Pepper Middle School in Philadelphia, PA! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we head back to the City of Brotherly Love on a hastily planned, last minute whirlwind weekend in-n-out trip to attempt a bucket list location that had been closed down and sealed up for many years. A mammoth century old rust palace and epic monument to electrical generation on the shore of the Delaware River awaited us after a long, long drive. Behold the truly gargantuan scale of construction our forefathers were capable of as we plumb the architecture, history and secrets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Richmond Generating Station. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we look at one of those subjects that tend to get overlooked in urban exploration circles and are often passed by when we visit major cities to do our adventuring; graveyards, cemeteries and mausoleums. Cities of the Dead. “Boneyards” in the more colloquial settings. So, get yourself ready for a dive into a different type of explore this week, because we'll be diving into three cemeteries in three very different locations and settings to lay down some stories. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road! In this edition, we look at a very strange, out-there and rather controversial idea; the concept that an abandoned building holds to the energy of those who have inhabited it over the space of its life, creating a sort of “personality” unique to that building. A “spirit of place” as the ancient Romans would have thought of it. Weird enough? Absolutely. The episode is a little different than most and hopefully gives some food for thought, but as always, tales, some strange ideas and some history (and even a little bit of ancient mythology!) abound, so snag a crispy beverage (adult or otherwise), whip up some macaroni and cheese, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Happy New Year and welcome to another episode of Mr. P. 's Tales from the Road, the first episode of SEASON THREE! What do a massive abandoned bridge, a grisly 1930's serial killer's crimes and 1960's race riots all have in common? In this episode, we'll find out as we head over to Cleveland, Ohio's near East Side to check out an abandoned suspension bridge that is steeped in some pretty gruesome history. Tales abound, so whip up a bowl of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, pop open a cold can of Pepsi, settle in for a comfort-food dinner, tune in and have a listen! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P. 's Tales from the Road. This week, we recount our recent jaunt along the borders of Appalachia, returning to the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the home of the enigmatic Mothman, for some exploratory and photographical adventures. Nighttime missions to (and high strangeness within) the “TNT Area” north of town, an abandoned Navy shipyard, a forgotten and collapsing rural hospital, perfect biscuits and gravy, massive thunderstorms and much more in this epic weekend excursion! As always, tales will abound, so acquire yourself a cold and chocolaty milkshake, fry up some greasy onion rings, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road. This week, we continue to talk up those places that we discover when we aren't looking for them, usually when we are on our way to someplace else, and which turn out to be amazing exploratory gifts that we weren't expecting at all. This week, we turn to an amazing and mysterious four story behemoth of a factory that was filled with unexpected treasures in an undisclosed location in the Rust Belt, all stumbled upon by chance on a day where we certainly weren't expecting it! As always, tales will abound, so grab and pop a cold can of cola, nuke up some leftovers, listen in and enjoy the show! Have a great weekend and we'll see you in next week's episode! -Mr. P. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road. This week, we dive into the uncomfortable and rather personal subject of mental health. As winter closes in, seasonal depression and anxiety are ramping up, and many of us turn to urban exploration and photography to keep the worst of it at bay through the darkest time of the year. Depression is far more common than anyone might realize, and many of us deal with it on a daily basis. This episode, I relay my own personal situation and explain how this hobby has kept me going through some rough patches. Not a long episode, but poignant and relevant to many of us out there. So, settle in, grab a comfort snack, sip on a cold beverage of choice and listen in. Have a great weekend and we'll see you in next week's episode! -Mr. P. Depressed with thoughts of self harm? Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road. This week, we regale those places that we discover when we aren't looking for them, usually when we are on our way to someplace else, and which turn out to be amazing exploratory gifts that we weren't expecting at all. We'll be hitting two places; one this week and one the next. In this first part, we get into the absolutely amazing, massive and now sadly demolished General Electric complex in East Cleveland, Ohio (we'll finish up with a mystery location next week!) As always, tales will abound, so grab a mug of hot cocoa, get some soup going on the stove, listen in and enjoy the show! Have a great weekend and we'll see you in next week's episode! -Mr. P. MR. P. Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road, and a Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S. listeners! This week, I tell a recent tale about an encounter with Detroit's boys and girls in blue (sort of), a spark off a brief revelation about the homeless who inhabit many of the places we explore, and also share all of the things I'm thankful for in this crazy adventure we call urban exploration. As always, tales abound, so after you tuck in to a turkey-based feast with all the trimmings and extra culinary delights that go with it (sweet potato pie with marshmallows, I'm lookin' at you!), kick back on the couch or lounger chair of choice in tryptophanic bliss, get mellow, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road. This week, we roll in with a theme focusing on places where people of all ages flock to cool off in the hot swelter of summer. I'm talking about waterparks, or in this case, abandoned waterparks, and in this episode, we'll dive into three separate adventures I've been fortunate to have had exploring them, for better or worse. Three waterparks in three states, all different situations; as always, tales will abound, so grab a cold cola out of the ‘fridge, warm up some leftovers, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road. Happy Halloween (late, I know…), Blessed Samhain, and a wonderful Dia De Los Muertos to you all out there! In this edition, we head to one of the most unique places in Cleveland, Ohio; a once abandoned Gothic style funeral home that was (and still is) famous for its history, architecture, decor and the forward-thinking attitudes of its owner, as well as infamous for its abandonment years, the supernatural goings on inside of it and the fresh (and unique) lease on life it has under new ownership. Yes, this week, we head out to Cleveland's East Side to tell you the story of THE HOUSE OF WILLS! I have had several experiences here myself, and as always, tales will abound, so fill a Thermos full of hot chicken noodle soup, rustle up some thick and meaty sammiches, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all! Welcome to another episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road. In this edition, we return to the tired, summer heat shimmering streets of Lorain, Ohio to talk about the dim and moldy recesses of the abandoned (and now sadly demolished) St. Joseph's Hospital, as well as creep up on the mysterious and rather intriguing “Ghost Ship of Lorain.” As always, tales abound, so snag a cold one out of the cooler, crank out some macaroni and cheese outta the box, listen in and enjoy the show! Hey all, and welcome to the fourth episode of a special seasonal series called Mr. P.'s Rust Belt Mythology, which features some short stories about ghosts, murders, legends and tales of high strangeness in and around the Rust Belt cities of the Great Lakes. Mixing a love for these industrial towns, a deep catalog of weird goings-on, and a desire to tell their stories, I'll be offering up short episodes throughout the month of October all the way up to Halloween! Not to worry, as we'll still be airing new episodes of “Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road'' each week, so it's some extra bonus for the drive in to work! In this short episode, we'll be looking at the real life case of the GREEN MAN OF PITTSBURGH, the tragic tale of a ghostly wandering soul who suffered untold horrors as a child and who went on to become an urban legend to the residents of the suburbs of the ‘burgh. Who was the Green Man and what was his plight? Drop on in and find out! Settle in, get comfy and enjoy the show! Have a wonderful evening and see you later in the week!! -Mr. P. MR. P.
