Feeling Future Shocked? Got the certainty-addiction blues? This episode dives deep into the ever-shifting currents and consequences of work and innovation. Listen to AQ expert Ira S Wolfe and Michael Lee, a maestro of adaptability, creativity, and innovative thinking. Whether you're staring down the barrel of a job change, wrestling with the march of AI and automation, or simply seeking to thrive in our fast-paced world, this episode is your beacon. Here are eight tremendous takeaways you'll learn about the power of adaptability: “Future Shock” published over 50 years ago, warned us about the paralysis that comes with excessive change, and here we are, dealing with that reality as we look towards the future of employment. The tech tsunami is coming for sure. But remember, the 4th and 5th industrial revolutions are set to create more jobs than they wipe out. Ride the wave with adaptability, not get wiped out by it. The ability to adapt, or what we're calling the 'Adaptability Quotient,' will be an essential skill as we face technological changes that disrupt the job market. The greatest challenge for leaders in the future will be to manage not only their own adaptability but to nurture an environment that supports adaptability in their teams. Future-proof your psychology: Understand how acknowledging the Dunning-Kruger effect can lead to monumental personal growth. The mere thought of adaptability is scarier than the actual hustle of change. It's the boogeyman in the closet of our minds. Creativity is no lone wolf; it runs with a pack called ‘innovation and adaptability'. Together, they're the ultimate dream team for the future of work. Adaptability isn't just about grit; it's knowing when to pivot and how to roll with the punches. *** Michael Lee is the Creative Breakthrough Catalyst, a working creative professional who facilitates breakthroughs for leaders and their teams. He is a world-recognized expert in the mindset of innovation and the art of human capacity reinvention, internationally certified as a Master of Creativity and Innovation Coaching and a Master NLP practitioner, and in six other coaching disciplines (Executive, Intercultural, Recovery, Laughter, , as well as a certified Coach Trainer and as ICF ACC, and is one of only three Africans accredited as an Adaptability Quotient (AQai) Professional Practitioner. He is a two time TEDx speaker, writes a regular column on creativity for the Mail and Guardian SA, does a monthly slot on Radio 702, is an Advisory Board Member or World Creativity and Innovation and an EXCO Member of the Creative Community of Practice of the BIC Foundation. He holds an MA from Stanford University and is currently studying for an additional MS in Creativity and Change Leadership from Buffalo State University. He has spoken at numerous creativity conferences and universities (including Buffalo State) on the topics of creativity, innovation, and adaptability. Patrick Carney, the Artiste, is an indomitable spirit who has shared his creative talent with the world in ways that are sometimes beyond measure. No one captures the ‘Essence of Women,' the aura of their souls, the contours of their brilliance in the way this artist can. Carney captures the legacy that these women leave as footsteps on this earth. While attending the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Patrick Carney had the privilege to study with Chuck Close, Marge Anderson, Robert Israel, Burne Hogarth and Milton Glaser; each of these teachers having a profound impact on his life.As a youth he read voraciously – searching for answers which led to more questions. While pursuing studies at Buffalo State, he worked as a specialist in media at the Communications Center. Later he was named the Art Director of the Lafayette Community Center where he taught art to inner city children. For a time he traveled throughout the NY State as an Artist in Residence at underprivileged high schools as a representative of the Arts Council, and volunteered as a art teacher in the state prison system, believing that it was his obligation to give back and “Pass On” his given talents.Starting in 1964 in NY's West Village, Mr. Carney dedicated his time to drawing and painting the world of rock n' roll music, it's passion and creativity caught in real time forever. He traveled throughout the US attending rock concerts and painted whatever star excited him – and thus his work is a varied series of welcome surprises. Hanging out at what he calls “the corner of Art and Soul,” the Artiste Patrick Carney also captures the images of your youth, capturing on canvas the music you grew up with. Not only are Patrick Carney's Acrylics and Pen & Inks purchased by collectors all over the world, many of his paintings are displayed in the personal collections of such luminaries as Dick Clark, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen, JD Souther, Tom Russell, Judy Collins, Al Kooper, Pete Seeger, Sharon Lechter, Frank Shankwitz and Kevin Harrington.Contact Patrick Carney:pcar13@gmail.com Dr. Kimberley Linert Speaker, Author, Broadcaster, Mentor, Trainer, Behavioral Optometrist Event Planners- I am available to speak at your event. He emerged victorious in both the indoor and outdoor State Collegiate 400 meter competitions, showcasing his exceptional athletic abilities. [A summer vacation re-release of a fan favorite episode from January 2020!] The Buffalo Braves were one of three NBA expansion franchises (along with the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers) that began play in the 1970–71 season. Originally owned by a wobbly investment firm with few ties to Buffalo, the Braves eventually found a local backer in Freezer Queen founder Paul Snyder – who, by the end of the first season, had inherited a team that was neither good (penultimate league records of 22-60 in each of its first two seasons), nor easy to schedule (third-choice dates for Buffalo's venerable Memorial Auditorium behind the also-new NHL hockey Buffalo Sabres, and Canisius Golden Griffins college basketball). Snyder addressed the Braves' on-court issues by luring head coach Dr. Jack Ramsey from the Philadelphia 76ers, while drafting key players like high-scoring (and later Naismith Basketball Hall-of-Famer) Bob McAdoo, eventual NBA Rookie of the Year Ernie DiGregorio, and local (via Buffalo State) crowd favorite Randy Smith – yielding three consecutive playoff appearances from 1973-74 to 1975-76. Off the court, Snyder looked to regionalize the team's appeal beyond “The Aud” by scheduling select home games in places like Rochester, Syracuse and even Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens – and team attendance, TV ratings and revenues achieved league-average levels. By the summer of 1976, however, Snyder was facing severe pressure to sell the team and get it out of “The City of Good Neighbors.” Of particular consternation was Canisius president Fr. James Demske, who publicly thwarted the Braves' attempts at decent home dates – which angered the NBA enough to force the issue with Snyder. Snyder, who said he was losing money anyway, threatened to move the Braves to suburban Miami's Hollywood Sportatorium, a deal that collapsed after the city of Buffalo sued and secured a new 15-year Aud lease – with a provision it could be broken if the team didn't sell 5,000 season tickets in any future season. Author and Western New York native Tim Wendel (Buffalo, Home of the Braves) joins the pod to discuss the convoluted story of what happened next, including: Snyder's ownership sales to former ABA owner (and eventual Kentucky governor) John Y. Brown and businessman Harry Mangurian; The subsequent dismantling of the team and overt attempts to drive down attendance to break the Aud lease; The two-season coaching and player carousel that followed – including the curious six-minute career of Moses Malone; AND How the Braves' eventual move in 1978 to become the San Diego Clippers wouldn't have happened without the Boston Celtics. + + + BUY/READ EARLY & OFTEN: "Buffalo, Home of the Braves" (2009) FIND & FOLLOW: Website: https://goodseatsstillavailable.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoodSeatsStill Instagram (+ Threads): https://www.instagram.com/goodseatsstillavailable/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoodSeatsStillAvailable/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@goodseatsstillavailable
