Welcome to another thrilling evening on Vintage Classic Radio's "Friday Night Noir"! This Friday, we invite our listeners to tune in for two gripping tales from the golden age of radio drama. First up, we have an episode from the "Black Museum" series, titled "The Champagne Glass." Originally broadcast in 1951, this story unfolds within the somber walls of Scotland Yard's repository of crime, the Black Museum, where every object tells a tale of mystery and murder. "The Champagne Glass" centers around a seemingly innocent champagne glass that becomes the key piece of evidence in a perplexing murder case. Narrated by the legendary Orson Welles, who lends his distinctive voice to guide us through the twists and turns of this chilling narrative, the episode is a masterclass in suspense and storytelling. The cast includes notable radio actors of the time, who bring to life the complex characters entangled in this dark plot. Following "The Black Museum," our night continues with "Quiet Please," in the episode titled "Not Enough Time." First aired on October 6, 1947, this episode explores the intriguing concept of time travel. The story follows an ordinary man who stumbles upon a book that grants him the power to travel back in time. As he attempts to change his past for a better future, he encounters unexpected consequences that lead to a thought-provoking climax. Ernest Chappell, who also created the series, stars as the lead character, supported by a small but effective cast that enhances the eerie and introspective atmosphere of the show. Both episodes showcase the unique charm and intrigue of classic radio drama, featuring superb voice acting, atmospheric sound effects, and compelling storytelling. Be sure to join us this Friday night to experience these captivating tales from a bygone era on Vintage Classic Radio's "Friday Night Noir."

How have you done achieving your annual goals? Sometimes it feels like there's some magic formula that we are missing which will allow us to achieve our goals. Thankfully, that's not true. Achieving our goals comes down to one thing. And that is: how we have prioritized our time. The way we use our time compounded leads us to the results we have today. The good news is that means you can make a change. If you choose to use your time on the things that will result in a stronger team or you as a stronger leader, you can achieve it. One obstacle that I see humanitarian and development leaders create for themselves is the idea that later will be better. After I finish this proposal, or donor visit, or final report, or whatever... THEN I will have the time. But that is just not true. There will always be things to do. Things that make you "busy". So knowing this, how can you prioritize what you know will make the most impact? Learn more in this episode. Resources mentioned: Not Enough Time and Later Is Better
It wasn't a given that Deni Hines would pursue a career a music. Despite her mother, Marcia Hines, being one of the most recognisable pop stars in Australia, Deni had other interests and suffered from performance anxiety in her younger years. But her vocal talent soon got her snapped up as a backing singer for artists like Wa Wa Nee, Peter Blakeley and Kylie Minogue. It was her voice that also saw her hired as the latest frontperson for funk/dance band Rockmelons. In a frank and unflinching interview, Deni shares exactly what she thought of their collaboration and the hits that ensued. She also recalls guesting on "Not Enough Time" by INXS and what Michael Hutchence was like to work with in the studio. Then, after a solo deal in the US fell apart for reasons beyond her control, Deni landed at Mushroom Records and scored a top 5 hit with "It's Alright". She describes the process of putting together her debut album, Imagination, in London and follow-up singles like "I'm Not In Love" and "Delicious", a duet with Don-E that was added to the UK version of the album (retitled Pay Attention). When her time at Mushroom came to an end — following early 2000s single "Frenzy" — Deni went independent, and she talks about her various projects over the past couple of decades, including Water For Chocolate, The Soul Sessions and her upcoming album, due in 2024.Bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/aussieTwitter: @ChartBeatsAU, @TurnAroundOnJoyInstagram: @chartbeatsau, @joyturnbeataroundEmail: chartbeats.au@gmail.com

In this episode, we continue our interview with Dr. Al'ai Alvarez, a national leader and educator on physician wellness. He's an emergency physician, clinical associate profession of emergency, and the director the Physician Wellness Fellowship at Stanford. We discuss: creating environments where we can talk and acknowledge our lived experiences lessons from the Mission Critical Team Institute and the subsequent formation of the High Performance Resuscitation Team how to deal with the residue of working in medicine relationship-centered care gratitude focusing on the "goosebumps moments" and being reminded of the good things that we do finding your passion what is the 1% you can do or stop to make your life better Wise words from Dr. Alvarez: "...each one of us has the capacity and the ability to make a choice of what is within our control, what is beyond our control, and what do we want to do with all the things that are facing us. And I hope that people feel that sense of empowerment...[and make] a choice that is alignment with their values. What is truly aligned with myself, my core being, and focus more on that, and do more of that. ... I hope that it'll also inspire people to think about ways to be kinder to yourself. Because then, as much as we try to be kind to everybody else, and do all the good things for other people, we often forget ourselves. And if there's, the one thing that I can leave you, is that all of my work is really rooted in self-compassion. How can we show up for others by taking care of ourselves in a way that is healthy?" Today's podcast continues our breakdown of The Last of Us on HBO with episode five. Episode five continues by giving us the backstory on Sam and Henry shortly after the FEDRA are overthrown in the city. From that, we catch up to the present, where the previous episode left off with Joel and Ellie. From there, we are given more information on Kathleen and the group. Much of our contention in this episode was how convincing the motivations of Kathleen were. The episode's climax is the confrontation from Kathleen's group as they catch up with Joel and the crew and attempt to flee the city. Everything erupts in chaos, with the infected being released from underground. We had some minor issues with how the lead-up to the climax was presented. All of our problems aside, the core of this episode was the emotional story between Sam and Henry. They were presented as a possible future of how Ellie and Joel may one day end up. This point is driven home in the closing scene as the group doesn't escape unscathed. The big question in this episode is would you want to continue living after losing the one you care about most? Suzanne discusses non-monogamy, also known as polyamory, and gender, sexuality and relationship diversity with sex educator Gigi Engel. Suzanne also talks about the concept of Scarcity Thinking when it comes to time and money. A liberating show! Our guest today has many liberating viewpoints—but first, I share with you some ideas about the dreaded ‘Scarcity Trap'… it could be tripping you up if you feel like you never have enough time or money. Some liberating thoughts to open your mind about your busy-ness! Speaking of liberation, do you fully embrace your gender? Would you consider being non-binary, or ‘gender fluid'? Sex Educator Gigi Engel shares some truly enlightening thoughts about the process of finding one's precise place on the gender spectrum. Then she moves on to a more in-depth conversation about polyamory, another term for open marriage. This non-monogamy is certainly out there in our culture, though little spoken of, it seems. So we have a chat about it—and I share some of my own experiences about this. Bottom line: it's not for everyone. But is it for you? Among other things, we discussed: What's it truly mean to be non-binary What is the difference between open marriage and non-monogamy How to find the right therapists if you're interested in these options What MUST be present for open marriage to work First critical steps for those exploring open marriage What to expect if you open your marriage This is a particularly info-packed conversation… so dig in and enjoy! Prior to the pandemic, life was on fast forward. Work was nuts, bars and restaurants were jammed, schedules were packed, traffic was bad and getting worse. There was not enough time on our days to do it all. And then, COVID-19. The world stopped. And so did we. We now find ourselves sitting alone with our thoughts. Scrolling through Facebook or binge-watching Netflix series after Netflix series. We're doing a whole lot of nothing. But there's a lot we can learn about ourselves and the world around us when we embrace nothingness. In today's episode, I discuss the importance of doing nothing and why it's a muscle or skill you can build and hone. I discuss how nothingness encourages creativity and innovation, creating both contrast and focus in our lives while allowing us to face the truths of our current reality. I discuss how businesses and organizations can benefit from encouraging their employees to take time off to ‘just be' and do nothing. I also discuss how the quietude forced upon us during the COVID-19 pandemic has created a profound opportunity for personal growth, placed a spotlight on humanity, and challenged us to learn how to create from within without requiring external forces to define the trajectory of our lives. “We all have the capacity to create something from nothing. The key is a combination of courage and time.” - Chris Colbert This week on Insert:Human ● Society's perspective on worthiness● Harvard Business Review contributor, Peter Bregman's perspective on the ‘white space' in life, why it's important, and why he believes it's a muscle you can build● The importance of encouraging your staff to stay home and do nothing● Addressing unfounded fears and feelings of discomfort around doing nothing● How to embrace doing nothing and how it can help eliminate the stress and worry of our daily lives● How the world has shifted from ‘pull' to ‘push' and how the blank space it creates has impacted us and our children● Why learning how to deal with nothingness is hard, but not impossible● How the COVID-19 pandemic has shined a spotlight on humanity and created a profound opportunity for personal growth Our Favorite Quotes: ● “What if the best life preserver is not doing more - but rather, doing less? In fact, doing nothing.” - Chris Colbert● “To do nothing, we must find the courage to let go of all that we think we have to do - and replace it with a silent contemplation of what we could and should do.” - Chris Colbert● “When the omnipresence of pull recedes to be replaced by push, we feel a quiet desperation emerge in ourselves and our children.” - Chris Colbert● “That is what makes these unprecedented times a form of opportunity, of profound opportunity - the chance to change the context of our lives from pull to push.” - Chris Colbert Resources Mentioned: ● The Importance of Doing Nothing article● Not Enough Time? As Bee and I come to the close of our Jon Farriss trilogy, we are excited to explore his art, musicianship, and the strong bond that he held with the road crew throughout those touring years. Proud as ever to have touring crews that were the envy of all international acts, Jon humbly showcases that he saw his role in the band as more than just a drummer. We also drag out of the archives after a great rest Pleasure and Pain, with Bee having their first crack regarding the year that was 1996! The year that saw the Olympics hit Atlanta, Tickle Me Elmo toys go ballistic and the Internet soar to new record levels! A jam-packed news section, an auction update, two new patrons, and a very sneaky special announcement regarding a guest at the end of the tribute song round out this episode. So, sit back and get your dose of the only comprehensive A-Z INXS podcast on the planet. To mark this date, we would like radio stations around the world to focus on the one thing he would have wanted; his music. His legacy. During his lifetime, one song which didn't achieve the recognition it richly deserves was Not Enough Time from INXS' overlooked masterpiece Welcome To Wherever You Are, itself celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. With its RnB-inflected groove, soulful vocal, and incredible band performance leading to an uplifting crescendo, Not Enough Time are the perfect song for radio and we're urging all radio stations across the world to play this song for Michael today. “ ‘I'm scheduled from 7 in the morning until 7pm and then have hours of paperwork after that and I don't have time to eat or even pee during the day.' I just want to say first of all, I see you. I hear that those are the conditions that have been created by the system for you, and I also want to say to you, that's not ok.” - Jill Farmer, Master Certified Life Coach, Cohost of DocWorking Cohosts of the Podcast Jill Farmer and Dr. Jen Barna talk about the professional and personal development value of normalizing Physician & Healthcare Coaching as a key to staying connected to purpose and meaning during a career in medicine. In this conversation, Jill and Jen discuss why healthcare organizations should be carving time into the workday for doctors and other providers to engage in coaching and associated professional development in order to build leadership, communication, growth mindset, stress and time management skills, and work-life integration in order to make the practice of medicine sustainable as a long career. If this type of professional development for physicians, PAs, Nurse Practitioners and nurses does NOT happen, Jill and Jen point out that dedicated physicians and other clinicians may leave their practice earlier, shortening medical careers. The DocWorking team is here to help you clarify what brings meaning and purpose in your own life, arm you with the tools needed to put yourself in the driver's seat of your life and career, and provide ongoing coaching and peer support to guide you toward your goals in a sustainable and effective way. “Everyone just kind of accepts it like, ‘Yeah, I'm that way too. I can't relax on the weekends, I can't wind down. I can't let it go.' There's a cultural bravado behind that. I want to call bull on that.“ - Jill Farmer, Master Certified Coach & Lead Coach at DocWorking When you're at work, you are in petal to the metal mode, and to be good at what you do, you need to be able to perform? Do you ever find it hard to turn off the intensity outside of work? In this episode, Lead DocWorking Master Certified Coach Jill Farmer and Jen Barna MD have a conversation about how to be mindful of where to apply the intensity within our lives. An intense physician mindset does not always yield successful results outside of work, and it's important to give yourself that restorative space to change gears and reset. As the Lead Coach of DocWorking, she examines how a strategy of unrelenting “petal to the metal” may be hindering you from achieving what you really value in your life. It's with a heavy heart that the world mourns the loss of Australia's answer to Michael Jordan or Babe Ruth. Cricketer Shane Keith Warne (passed away on Friday, March 4th from a sudden heart attack at the age of only 52 in Thailand where he was holidaying at the time). With 708 wickets in the difficult art of leg-spin bowling, Shane managed to make the long-forgotten art of leg-spin bowling sexy again... so much so that Elton John and Mick Jagger wanted to be him and Ed Sheeran, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods and Coldplay's Chris Martin adored his skill and friendship. Bold, brash, and proudly bogan (Google it), Shane lived a colorful life on and off the field, where he regularly mixed with the “big end of town and celebrities”. His love and respect for INXS and Michael Hutchence was well known and they mixed regularly when both the band and team were touring in the same city. So, for the portion of Access All Areas of fans unfamiliar with him (particularly North America), we pay tribute in song with INXS tracks that serve as a soundtrack to his life and the perennial love we have for him in our hearts! This episode also features an interview with Tim Farriss, paying his tribute to Shane. R.I.P Shane. The world shall miss you. Not Enough Time. This is the last episode before we take a podcasting break for the holidays. See you back here in January 2022! And yes, we're trying out a new name. The focus of the podcast has become broader than the topic of “taking a gap year.” So the new name is [B]OLDER: Making the most of growing older. In other words, boldly reinventing life and work at midlife and beyond. Debbie is always on the lookout for guests who can lend a new perspective to the concept of time and our perception of how much of it we have. So when she read Oliver Burkeman's new book, Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals, she knew he had to come on the show. Plus the book is terrific and it's getting lots of notice. The first sentence is “The average human life span is absurdly, terrifyingly, insultingly short.” In other words, about 4,000 weeks.Oliver is a British author and journalist who wrote a popular weekly column, This Column Will Change Your Life, for The Guardian for over a decade. He has reported from London, Washington and New York and recently moved with his wife and son from Brooklyn, NY back to Yorkshire in the UK to be near his family. He has established himself as a tongue-in-cheek expert on productivity and time management and how that does - or does not - lead to happiness. He sums up his new book very nicely in his Twitter profile: explaining that 4,000 Weeks is about embracing limitation and finally getting round to what matters. As he's 46, he's only lived about 2,400 of those 4,000 weeks himself but he tells Debbie in this episode that he may be getting closer to a better relationship with time.Debbie and Oliver talk about time and self-worth, why we are so future-oriented, the connection between time and happiness, and why it might be okay that we use social media as a distraction. Oliver is a contrarian thinker but he's truly interested in how to build a meaningful life. Debbie had a number of aha moments in this conversation and listeners will too! This episode may just be the most important one we have recorded since the inception of INXS: Access All Areas in May 2020. With a perpetual passion to see the band get rightfully inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, we are also are only 12 months away from two significant milestones. The 30th anniversary of the “critically acclaimed” “Welcome to Wherever You Are” and The 25th anniversary of the incomparable Michael Hutchence sad passing. As such, we are proud to launch a unique fan-led initiative whereby we are championing the “re-emergence” of the severely underrated song “Not Enough Time” from the aforementioned album. A song that simply soars after its humble and understated opening, to a cacophony of musical, vocal and instrumental bliss. A crescendo in the spirit of Hey Jude and Stairway to Heaven, all under the gaze and sultry lyrics of Michael at his poetic peak! So we deep dive into “the song” that shall be a catalyst for their induction, a true highlight of their back catalogue but most importantly a true homage piece to what simply was and always shall be: “the great Michael Hutchence”!
