Get access to FREE mixing mini-course: https://MixMasterBundle.com My guest today is Jamie Tate, a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning recording engineer, mixer, producer, and the owner of The Rukkus Room in Nashville, TN. Jamie's career in the studio world began as an intern at The Sanctuary Recording Studios, where he worked his way up to chief engineer. After The Sanctuary sold, Jamie honed his craft while working around the clock at Abtrax Recording Studios. By 2004, with 18 months of clients already booked, he took the leap and founded The Rukkus Room, which has since become one of Nashville's most iconic recording spaces. The Rukkus Room was designed by Gene Lawson of Lawson Microphones and is one of the last remaining purpose-built recording studios in Nashville. Spanning 8,000 square feet across two separate buildings, it offers unparalleled isolation for recording. Shortly after opening, Jamie recorded Jack Ingram's #1 single “Wherever You Are” and several other top-five hits, cementing the studio's reputation as a go-to destination for legendary and up-and-coming artists alike. Jamie has mixed and recorded music for a stunning array of artists, including Thomas Rhett, Taylor Swift, Dustin Lynch, Jerrod Niemann, Maddie & Tae, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, John Prine, Rhett Akins, Sheryl Crow, Brooks and Dunn, and many more. In this episode, I sit down with Emily Assell, author of the newly released and soon to be released books, When It Hurts and Wherever You Are. Emily's journey is one of faith, freedom, and the undeniable power of God's Word in the middle of life's hardest moments.Emily shares her story of overcoming financial struggles, battling anger, and discovering the transformational power of scripture. From writing Bible verses on the walls of her mother-in-law's basement to seeing strongholds break one step of obedience at a time, Emily's testimony is a reminder that God meets us in our pain and never stops pursuing us.We talk about:✨ The highs and lows of self-publishing and how God opened unexpected doors✨ Trusting God in every circumstance—even when life doesn't look the way we planned✨ How speaking God's Word in faith shifts our perspective and changes everything✨ The power of taking every thought captive and renewing our minds with truth✨ God's heart for His daughters today—His mercy and loving-kindness are always nearNo matter where you are—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—God is with you. His love never stops. His goodness never runs out. And He is calling you deeper into His presence today.Bio:Emily Assell is a bestselling children's book author and speaker. She believes dry shampoo, snacks, and the Word of God can solve almost any parenting problem. She and her husband, Matt, started Generation Claimed in 2017 to self-publish her first book, You Are. A year later, Tyndale House Publishers released the book, which has gone on to sell over twenty-five thousand copies. When not writing, Emily homeschools her three children, volunteers at Love Moves.Us (a nonprofit for foster and adoptive children and families), or gets lost reading someone else's book. Emily has spoken at many parenting conferences, schools, mothers' groups, and special events, and she has been a featured guest on multiple podcasts, teaching and encouraging all ages about the power of God's Word. But don't worry, her three kids are her own personal slang dictionary and keep her down-to-earth despite her best efforts to be cool.Anchor Verse:Psalm 138:8Connect with Emily:Website: https://www.generationclaimed.comIG: https://www.instagram.com/generationclaimedLinktree: https://linktr.ee/generationclaimed***We're thrilled to hear from our listeners! In 1992, INXS released Welcome to Wherever You Are and instead of touring, headed back into the studio for a quick follow-up. 1993's Full Moon, Dirty Hearts was the result, a mixed bag of innovation incorporating bass grooves on tracks like "The Gift" and "Cut Your Roses Down" while still writing anthemic choruses on tracks like "Days of Rust" and "Time." In the midst of the grunge takeover of America, it's not surprising the album didn't fare well with radio or the charts. While guest vocalists Ray Charles and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders are welcome, their inclusion didn't push the needle. Revisiting the album, it's an interesting crossroads of what the band was and the sounds of the decade to come, with electronic elements sneaking in that wouldn't sound out of place later in the decade.   Songs In This Episode Intro - The Gift 21:17 - Time 25:13 - Cut Your Roses Down 32:16 - Kill The Pain 41:12 - Please (You Got That...) INXS was far more than a band with one ubiquitous hit and a gorgeous, tortured lead singer. With 30 years upon us since April 1993, it harks back to an anniversary period where INXS no longer felt controlled by the record company and commercial management interference. Thus, they embarked on one of the more daring and “punk-style” initiatives   With Welcome to Wherever You Are barely seven months old, and with a plethora of new material from the Full Moon, Dirty Hearts recording sessions, INXS commenced a scaled-back, stripped-down and back-to-basics tour of clubs, pubs, and Universities in Australia and then Europe.   Jumping off the cliché humdrum of album, world stadium tour, and promo press junkets, the band was excited to get back to basics: record more, tour less, and enjoy the purity of making vital music together.   So, for the critics who saw smaller venues as a sign of a band's popularity waning: dig a little deeper and you'll find them recapturing artistic freedom and bursting the bubble of external industry expectations by “doing it their way”!   Love and Peace ✌️ Haydn   Have you signed the petition https://www.change.org/p/induct-inxs   Click here to save The Tote https://www.pozible.com/profile/the-last-chance-to-save-the-tote   #topsongs #topartists #greatesthits #michaelhutchence #AndrewFarriss #90smusic #inxspod #australianmusic #rocklegends #fanengagement #rockandrollhalloffame #MichaelHutchence #InductINXS #INXSRockNRocklHallOfFame #inxsrrhof #rrhofinxs #rrhoflive #rrhof2024 #rrhof #inxsmichaelhutchence #imjustamanfoundation #ijam #imjustaman

Christopherson and I am here to talk about all things new at Kimberbell this week and boy we have some fun stuff coming up including I'm going to make the announcement of the two big epic winners of last week's what's new Wednesday giveaway remember the oh so delightful bag full of stuff like hundreds of dollars worth of stuff it's gonna be yours to two people today I can't wait to share those winners with you I'm gonna make you wait just a little bit longer right and then we're also going to have another great big giveaway yeah pretty good decent size giveaway today which we love to do and I get to introduce you to one of my dear friends and co-workers today to talk a little bit more about some of the background literally the background of oh so delightful so let's go ahead and get started with a little bit of so-and-tell with Kimberbell   [Music]   oh we're so excited we have to do it twice all right let's take a look at what you guys are making this week oh my goodness there's some fun stuff going on guys you have been busy with all kinds of themes but take a look at this sewing room Cara she says she decorated her sewing room with alternating embroidery and quilted blocks she mounted them on eight inch canvases um so okay I love that Cara you just gave us a brilliant idea for taking any Kimberbell design and putting it at you know an angle there on point but then wrapping it around canvas let's take a closer look at some of the ones she used she used this create design this actually comes from the Bella box that we had uh last year I believe it was called live creatively you can still find those designs at me timedelivered.com for the Bella box this one is this is my happy place okay Cara I love how you also added the border of embroidery so so quilt embroidery so quilt that design actually was one of the bonus designs from that Bella box and boy that just couldn't be cuter and then she took some additional Quilt Block designs she added those to the eight inch canvases look how cute it is in her sewing room all wrapped around that door frame and then across the top border of her room oh Kara that just made me happy what a fun room to walk into every morning thank you for sharing that uh let's see Amanda she's been working on her Digital Dealer exclusives design from January this of course is the hey sweetie pie tea towel but what I love about this picture is that her husband made her the cutest little ladder to hang her tail from she says Teamwork Makes a dream work that's for sure but can we talk about the pink KitchenAid right there I mean come on who wouldn't love to have that in their kitchen but how cute let's take a look at that a closer look at hey sweetie pie there it is guys and it's not too late to get that design if you want to make that design for Valentine's Day and for all your friends and loved ones neighbors whoever you can find it with a shop who is participating in Digital Dealer exclusives go to our shop locator there you can search by those shops and they'd be happy to provide that design for you so much fun in fact I made one just yesterday I'm so excited because I'm like you know what I made one last week I was pretty excited about that and then I'm like you know I'm gonna try this again because it was so much fun but I did tell my husband no touchy no touching this towel this is for for looks only so he's been warned there you go here's another one that Tracy did taking the same design of hey sweetie pie but she made it uh into a framed picture so there you go you don't have to do it just on a tea towel or a tote bag or an apron look how cute that looks just in a frame Tracy I love it thank you so much for sharing that all right you know another other thing that you guys have been working on a whole lot lately are the new pretty impossible pouches oh my gosh it's been so fun to see them let's take a look at a few here um there's definitely been a favorite one so far I'm going to point out here in just a minute but let's take a look at this one from Wendy she says she whipped up a fruit a few pretty impossible bags this weekend for gifts she said they were so quick and easy to make she says I may just have to keep one for myself uh you better believe it Wendy you better keep one for yourself they're so cute I mean yes get them absolutely but definitely gift one to yourself let's take a closer look at a couple of hers there just beautiful love the fabric choices they're great those pretty and Posh zipper pouches are a great great way to show off just your most favorite Fabrics aren't they um speaking of really cool um uh specific Fabrics that just screams to the the person you're gifting it to let's take a look here at what sherry made for her granddaughter she says this is for her granddaughter's 16th birthday she plays softball and loves it so look what she did you guys ah it's from pretty and Posh but doesn't it take on a whole nother look with her granddaughter's favorite sport softball in this case oh my goodness she's gonna love that so personalized because she also of course added her initials there I absolutely love it now there's definitely been kind of a front runner if if you will on the pretty and Posh zipper pouches this week I'm going to show you a quick little video snippet to tell you what that front runner has been and then I'm going to show you some examples of things that you guys have made with pretty and Posh on the Margot the Margot has definitely been a favorite I see keep coming up let's take a look at our little reel that we made for the video or for the for the Margot and then I'm going to show you what you guys have been making with the Margot let's take a look   yeah I'm feeling it I'm feeling it I like you Margo and this is what you guys are making you like her too of course we named the pretty and Posh zipper pouches after four names um and the Margo is definitely a winner in your book let's see what you guys have done here we go Tracy she says this is the Margot I told Kim I was doing the Margo bag first just decided to change the colors a bit she's so pretty she gave us a helpful hint too which I just love she says raise your embroidery foot in the quilting over the flexi foam so as you can see here she's got the red Velveteen knit patch there and that's where a little bit of flexi foam is well the front there and uh she gave us the tip to raise your cursor foot just a little bit so thank you Tracy for sharing that um here we go there's the inside I love that pop of color okay another Margot look at this one from MJ she says this is the Margo zipper pouch just needs tassel attached to the zipper pull don't you love those florals in that yellow right there in the center just gorgeous MJ liked doing the Margot so much that look at this one she says I'm officially addicted I love addiction well when it comes to machine embroidery folks right look at that beautiful pouch with the the heart fabric the center fabric there the design that just uh makes it pop absolutely love it and then finally this one from Linda she says this is her pretty impossible and what I love about what Linda did this one with this one is that she added on the ab strap don't you love that doesn't the Margot help show off the most beautiful Fabrics I love it bravo bravo to everyone who made pretty and Posh zipper pouches this week no matter you did the Margo the Penelope the the I can't remember their names okay anyway you know what I'm talking about you are loving it I'm loving it too so keep posting those pictures all right let's take another wow uh look at another wow today uh you guys loved it too look over at Kimber Bellas and fellas for this one this one's from Tammy Tammy Tammy Tammy okay how many of you guys saw this one wow she says this was her Secret Valentine project and we're gonna see some up close pictures here in a minute guys um I'm not gonna read through the whole thing but basically what she did is she loved loved loved broom Hilda's Bakery from kimberville this came out this was a Halloween design that came out years ago so you she used the same concept of broom-hilda's Bakery same block sizes and in many of those cases um she said that she said most of the block ideas came from Birmingham Hilda it's quilt exactly how they were she traded the pumpkins for hearts take a closer look because you are going to love it and if you are a big Kimber Bell fan out there you're going to start recognizing all of these little Snippets from different Kimber Bell projects over the years and boy did this just make me happy to see I mean come on look at the Valentine gnome there's nowhere he came from I I bet type it in the comments if you know where that gnome came from with his cute dangling legs that came from uh came from the lucky s bench pillow still available and but she made it all Valentine well and then she used some designs from our Valentine um applique CD that came from the vault she used the cute little frog um that's under that glass Dome you guys there's just some things that when they all come to fruition at the end of crazy sketches and stuff I just go oh that little frog just makes me smile on that little frog Under the Dome does in the original Halloween design it said totally under your spell this one she changed to totally in love absolutely love it of course you see hey sweetie pie right there and that came from Digital Dealer exclusives this year and see the typewriter at the top you're just my type that came from love notes that came out a few years ago love it Tammy you're killed it with this one look another cute little known they're from the lucky s pinch pillow then of course the Love Letters did you know that's an actual zipper in there that you can like stick little love notes in little pocket there um that also came from love notes way to go Tammy way to go okay let's take a look at a final one that made my day made me smile if this doesn't make you smile I don't know what will it's a simple one but what she said was so so sweet let's take a look at this one here from Sue she says I've been sending my dad he's 94. pillows for each holiday he sent me the picture on the left as a subtle reminder that his pillow is naked if you're listening to this and you're going what are you talking about it's an empty pillow there's no it's a pillow form that's sitting there the Tweet heart pillow is going in the mail today I'm sure he's gonna love it I'm already working on the lucky pillow for March can't have naked pillows oh no you can't sue and that just I mean her dad is 94. 94 and you can see that that just makes a state let's look at the naked pillow here it's empty anywhere right post wherever you are on this world wide web but we especially like to see it in the Kimber Bellas and fellas group because that's where we share ideas and we share you know tips and we answer each other's questions and we cheer each other on so there you go okay uh keep posting over there and Sue watch for your mail because something special is going to come your way all right guys let's take a look at oh what else we have going on oh well speaking of digital zealer exclusives quickly let me show you you know a lot of you are doing um hey sweetie pie right now right um because that was the January's Digital Dealer exclusive but guess what today's February 1st where has the time gone I don't know but today's February 1st and therefore a new Digital Dealer exclusive design is coming out this month depending on when your shop uh hosts this okay um this is it it's the so lucky little [ __ ] buddy oh isn't that fun isn't that fun just cute little [ __ ] buddy pinch buddies are perfect to go with binge pillows but they also look great on a shelf or next to your bench pillow or like in a dough bowl or on a tear tray or on your bed or you name it look how darling that is the quilting comes with it the background quilting you're going to learn how to piece in the hoop and do background quilting look at that fun Shamrock that's actually pieced and then appliqued over around it and then you've got some fun little quilting designs and so you know there you go you have your little so lucky little grouping of St Patrick's Day designs just like that now something just came to my mind earlier when I showed you um the the Valentine designs that came from from um oh my goodness now it's left me from Lisa's um quilt I said that some of those gnomes came from Lucky s but you know what it was it actually came from my nails left me oh luck of the gnome you guys there's too many names here at camperville over the years on these things luck of the known so if you're looking for those gnomes that's where you're gonna find it lucky to know there you go okay so back to this so lucky find a quilt shop that is participating in Digital Dealer exclusives because as the name entails it's exclusive and that's the only way you'll be able to find that design all right so check it out it's this month's design can't wait to to show you all the rest throughout the year all right guys okay people are very excited Tammy so lucky is so cute yeah I I absolutely love it too Rebecca she says I just finished my lucky pillow last night oh my goodness Patsy oh my gosh cam you and the Kimber Bell group is awesome oh you're sweet Cassie she says so special for a 94 year old gentleman uh well he's he's got to be pretty special he's got to be pretty special especially since Sue is making those things for him each month that's pretty awesome Rita says I love Sue's dad's sense of humor I know I think that's what got me too Rita I just was like okay I like him 94 years old he's sending his daughter a picture of a naked pillow saying come on what's next and you know that's got to make his day when he receives that in the mail it's pretty awesome all right guys uh let's see what is next oh here we go you know how excited we all are here at Kimber Bell for the new oh so delightful oh so delightful guess what guys we showed it last week this week I'm gonna show it a little bit again but we're going to talk more about the background quilting designs if you missed last week's episode of what's new Wednesday don't miss it go back and watch because this is the quilt well the main quilt but as you know there's all kinds of bonus projects with it too and all kinds of like additional little quilts remember this we're not going to talk about too much today because we did last week but what I do want to focus on is something that is all the buzz today you guys are already downloading it you're excited because one of the things that I would say is the star of the show is the background quilting I should say optional background quilting for this but let's take a moment here to look at some of these up close oh let's see background quilting designs on here   oh my goodness okay there's so many good ones can be used for so many things this was especially something that you guys talked about last week was you couldn't get over this border if you see the Border how it just says so happy in there and the ruler you just about lost your minds when you saw how cute the background quilting was on the ruler and I mean you name it there's some fun elements as part of this background quilting bundle it is available today okay so you're waiting for this to arrive it's being sent out to shots starting February 8th so that's next Wednesday but while you're waiting what about taking advantage of a 20 discount on the background quilting bundle right now today so that when it comes next week in the next couple weeks for you you are ready to go but do you know what I say around here it takes a village it certainly takes a village to do what to produce what we do at Kimber Bell and one of the most special unique things about a Kimber Bell project these days is the beautiful background quilting that is an option for you to have well I want you to eat someone really special to me who oversees an amazing team of people that make background quilting possible everyone and I'm gonna introduce you to my friend Liz Liz hello hello good morning everybody how are you feeling about being on today I am so excited and also just so honored this is so much fun to get to spend time with you well oh yes yeah Liz I know you watch every week um uh what's new Wednesday I know I see you on and now you're on um tell us a little bit about Liz you leave this team but you have some amazing ladies behind the scenes as well you've got uh Moki and Mikhail and Jennica who also so I call you the Fantastic Four [Laughter] and um tell him tell her about a little bit about your team and what it's like to work on background quilting designs at Kimber doll right I have an amazing team like you said the four of us are all working from home moms we're all young moms um so we all work part-time um but we all really have so much fun working on the background quilting behind the scenes so um we all use our talents and skills in making the artwork for the background quilting and creating the instructions file formats testing all the things that go into Kimber Bell's wonderful designs the four of us work on day in day out with this background quilting so I really love to shout out to my team they are so amazing they are they make it possible for us to put out so many designs and you know that we are always every week there's at least one new quilting Design coming out um so we really enjoy what we do and we work so hard to make sure that we're always getting something new something fun out to you you guys um but yeah working on background quilting is so much fun there's just so many possibilities and that's the theme Liz um you're saying you're exactly right there's so many possibilities how tell us a little bit give us a little insight into what what is the process because because of so many possibilities as you mentioned it's hard to like just narrow it down going oh I think I'll do this as a toss designer I'll do this as a clear blue tile designer what is the process when you get the artwork or when you first learn about a new product here at camperval is that when you guys like go to work and you know give us a little Insider take on that yeah I'd love to tell you a little bit more about it so really when a project is launched at Kimber Bell the artwork is finalized that's when I get to see it I get to be one of the lucky ones that gets to see these beautiful projects at the very beginning when I see the artwork I start pinpointing you know all the cute elements that are within the project um and I start kind of pulling those those elements that I want to use to create quilting designs so um really when we're working on a background quilting bundle for a project like oh so delightful quilts and Decor it's all about how does it how can we complement the project as a whole right so we don't want to like we don't want to outshine we want to complement we want to coordinate with the project because really it's just about taking your project to the next the next level if you want to do that right so how what elements do I want to pull from the project to coordinate and make those background quiltings really play well as a team as a team with the project right and all the embellishments so really I look at the project as a whole what are all of the blocks um what are all the embellishments going on the quilts what are the fabrics and so all those things are kind of in my mind and I'll start doodling out the elements and pulling and playing with how would I toss them which ones make sense for a clear blue tiles design which ones make more sense for a block by block or an orange design if you're looking on the website so really there's there's a lot of thought that goes into it how does it coordinate how does it play well with the with the project that they're going to go on I I love how you mentioned that you don't want to to be like you don't want it to outshine the design itself and I would say that you know anyone who does background quilting whether they're a long armor or you know they're doing it on their domestic you know sewing machine or whatever that is the goal is to really make it special but still kind of stay as a background dancer right back up singer maybe totally you know totally that's exactly right yeah you want it to play well with the project you wanted to just enhance the project and just make it that extra level of fun right that's the word particular level of cute so yeah enhance the project Well you certainly do enhance the project um I think it would be fun to actually show everyone how to find these designs and I would love to keep you on the screen here Liz and have you walk us through maybe some of your uh you know the the elements that you just absolutely loved uh best making so let me show people where to find this um this is of course the Kimber Bell website here you can find it at kimberbell.com and if you go up to products let's see where it says get it today you're going to go to background quilting all right and then here's where you're gonna see you know uh them in different um sections here of course we see the latest design right there but that's latest design is actually part of a bundle design for oh so delightful so I'm going to show you where to find all of it anyway so if we go back up to the top it says all designs and then by project let's click on buy project I love how you guys have like have made this really easy easier to see what we think goes with what so this one is the oh so delightful as you can see here we've got let me call you tweet heart sweetest pie cup of cheer you name it let's click on oh so delightful and there you're gonna find these as downloads uh for single designs or a bundle design and that's where if you go as a click as a bundle design uh You're Gonna Save 20 by buying it all in a bundle right so I'm going to scroll down here to where you're going to see the 20 20 discount and then the bundle design so I'm going to click on that but no of course that all of these are available as single ones too so really it gives you flexibility to pick and choose or to take all of it um what you would like to use on your projects okay so you talked about um well we'll talk about the difference between orange and blue designs here in a minute um but let's first take a closer look at the designs themselves tell us about this one Liz the Border oh okay so this is one of my favorite the Bobby border one I love it so when I first saw the initial artwork for oh so delightful that Maine so happy quilt when I saw that inner sashing was yellow fabric I was like there's just the only one thing we can do here we have to do a measuring tape right because that's the staple for any sewing so this is our bouncing ideas is so awesome to be able to do because when I put that yellow inner Border in there I was not even thinking about a ruler I just thought it looked pretty with the blue border it kind of Set It Off and then you take it up 10 notches and do a ruler that is seriously the showstopper right I love it was just it was meant to be it was just one of those clicking moments I just knew it had to be so that is the inner border design so you can get a closer look here real quick I'm going to scroll through these pictures so we can find a close look at that border oh here we go here's one but I love it so much I cannot cannot make that possible on an embroidery machine and it's going to line up perfectly oh here's another close-up look and um oh here we go look at that you guys it's so cute and what is really cool is it will not matter if you have a 5x7 hoop a six by ten hoop 8 by 12 or 9 by 14 it all works and it's gonna you're not gonna know what size of hoop you used right exactly so it's one of the new block by block only borders so it's meant to stitch seamlessly it's going to look like edge to edge you're not going to be able to see where it starts where it ends so look at your extracts to make sure you see you know what what it's going to look like with your particular hoop with smaller Hoops we could only get one two three right so but but still you're gonna have this beautiful measuring tape look that comes across in your cute inner sashing and I just think it is just the perfect little border to go around the inside of your quilts oh my gosh yes absolutely okay let's take a look at of course then you've got the so happy which is so pretty um yeah yeah you've got you so happy joy sewing machines fabric bolts scissors just all those fun elements together to just give you that really cute chunky detailed outer border I love it love it okay zigzag you can't go wrong with a basic zigzag right exactly exactly the inspiration behind this one I was just thinking about your basic zigzag stitch on your sewing machine right and just making it a really versatile linear design that you can use Beyond oh so delightful right like this would be cute on basically any block ever it's just such a sweet easy cute design it is it it really is versatile uh for sure okay I love this radial design how did you come up with this one this one is actually inspired by one of the new vintage Flora Fabrics the sparkle design so the sparkle design is so cute and I just wanted to kind of echo the beauty of that fabric and create a background quilting design that went along with it so really those radial stars are just those cute little sparkles from the fabric and again this one is just so versatile right like it's just that that classic crosshatch diamond with the little stars in the middle just makes it really extra cute so and again that design itself could be used on anything it doesn't scream sewing room collection exactly yeah exactly oh my gosh okay this one is another show stopper I know I keep saying that and I can't decide which is like my favorite because for all different reasons uh this one just just makes you happy tell us about this this one is just putting all those sweet sewing notions all together you've got your buttons your thread spools your PIN cushions of course because there's those pin cushioned blocks on these on the quilt and you've got your scissors in there too and it's all just connected by these cute loopy threads I just think it's such a such a sweet um design just that encompasses the joy of sewing and just all those tools and things that you use when you're sewing nailed it encompasses with a joy of sewing I couldn't agree more okay I know where this was inspired from but why don't you share with the rest of the group so this one again inspired by one of our vintage Flora Fabrics so um it's the yes the honeycomb flower so the flowers are in these cute little hexagon shapes and we just wanted to kind of echo that geometry that geometric design because with every good bundle I really try and have you know a good variety of different designs that really you kind of get you know some geometrics some more organic I really try and give you a variety so that you have a lot to play with so this is one of those that just feels really geometric but it's fun because it's a clear blue tiles design too so I can see this being used with B quilting too because it kind of gives that honeycomb feel yes now you can use it on something that's a little bit more like modern because it has kind of a modern feel to it too so it's just a super versatile super pretty design it's gonna Stitch out really quick too so it's good for bigger projects I didn't even think about using that with a with like a b design but you're absolutely right it's kind of a a modern take on the honeycomb and it it's it works it's perfect and I love that it was inspired by the Vintage Flora fabric too which is kind of cool um okay this one a lot of people mentioned this last week when um they saw the oh so delightful quilt for the first time and that was the cross stitch background quilting so fun this one is one of my favorites from this bundle um a lot of labor of love with this one because you know figuring out how to make it look all over the house design but also encompassing the idea of this cross stitch design so really yeah we pulled from those cross stitch Hearts we wanted to play up that idea of these beautiful those little Hoops that you're gonna make on the quilt bringing in that cross stitch I feel um if you look at the lifestyle folders of this one it really double stitches over so it gives you this kind of thick chunky looking quilting that's really really sweet um so I really love this one the love the way it turned out let me see if I can find a picture of that real quick um of the cross stitch here oh yes here we go there yes you can really see that it's got kind of like it goes over itself twice so it's really got this chunky textural feel so it's it works really well on filler blocks it works really well as a background quilting design but it's just so fun it's such a fun design and I can see it being used Valentine's Day which is coming up I can see it being used on you know like an heirloom baby quilt I don't know I just feel like it's such a cute versatile design that um really shines in this bottle I'm just like sifting through some of these pictures so you can see more up close here's a look at oh look at those scissors on top of the thread spool but here's I love this so happy because of course depending on the thread color you use you can make it more prominent or you can make them kind of you know settle into the background just a little bit too right   okay this let's see let's let me go back here to one that is exclusive to the bundle do you want to tell us about the little oh where did it go the little straight pins yes um I will find it right there it is there we go straight pins these are this quilting is called the pins quilting design and it is exclusive if you buy the bundle um it's a filler quilting Block it's a one by six sized block um file size that you could use to quilt these very specific filler blocks that are on the quilt so you've got some rows two rows of these one by six blocks that go across the quilt and we just designed these pins to go there um knowing that we were going to have these sweet blooming pins coming out as coming in the embellishment kit so um I just wanted to kind of play up The Sid of pins and just another one of those cute Notions that you have in your sewing room well and let's be honest my pants look exactly like that on the floor right it's like we just tossed the pins on the floor and took a picture of them and come on I mean if they were all nicely in a row who are we kidding who are we kidding oh my goodness so as you can see she's also on the website She's listed what all the the designs are that come in the bundle how many sizes they come in if you click on any of those um you can also find the single designs of it sounds like um and you can save 20 through the month of February on this right that's great now a question that's often asked oh let me show this real quick do you want to tell us about this picture that I'm seeing yes absolutely so that is a picture of the background quilting guide so what the background quilting guide is anytime we offer a bundle we always give you a quilting guide and it basically tells you on our sample what quilting we used on which block and what size so it basically a map of if you want to do the background quilting exactly how we did it on our on our sample that we took photos of um you use the guide to you know select the quilting that we use the size that you need for each block throughout the whole project so oh that's fantastic I love that you're really trying to make it easy easy for all of us so okay bundle it'll be in your it'll be in your download you'll see that there's a PDF called quilting guide oh okay yeah great great great great um scrolling through these real fast but tell us um you know from your expert opinion as the digitizer Behind these um and your team what is the difference we get this question a lot and you know I think we should come out with a video to to help explain it too but in a nutshell if people are seeing some designs on a blue background and some designs on an orange background why why why is that and what's the difference between them how do you use them differently that kind of thing because I think it's important for everyone to understand that totally I'm so happy to talk about it so blue designs are compatible with clear blue tiles so we've really tried to make that that kind of really easy to think about and orange designs are block by block only and why don't you add to that the blue designs and gray designs are perfect for Clear Blue tiles exactly because the gray designs are also all over um right border designs yes exactly so the dark gray borders are clear blue tiles um compatible also um light gray so this particular Border in oh so delightful quilts and Decor is a light gray and orange designs are block by block only and the reason why those are block by block only is because um they will have travel lines or they will have places where they need to connect outside of the block that if they just don't lend themselves well to being an all-over design like clear blue tiles is supposed to be right so um so like for example the zigzag quilting um when you go up the line you're gonna have to travel across to get to the next Lane so it's just really something you wouldn't want to use as an all-over quilting sign because you'd have these little connecting travel lines that just wouldn't make it look as beautiful so um clear blue tiles designs the blues and the dark blue designs are ones that you can use all over you also get you know the block by block files which just basically means we've given you the placement lines for your batting and your and your background fabric so you're setting up your block for a feature project like these oh so delightful quilts and Decor so that's sort of like a in a nutshell um there's also an informational table on the website that you can look at and it gives you really good tips of what's the difference between the orange and the blue or the blue I love and the clear of the tiles designs oh thanks for pointing that out Liz yeah that's great yeah so you know when we talk about block by block quilting that's a lot of times what we do on something like this where it has a lot of appliques on top right and so you do lock by Block in the background and like Liz says it's got you know uh your it accounts for your um seam allowance right so then you you sew those blocks together block by block right and um there you have it but block by block also has the traveling lines that was mentioned with a zigzag so it's got a travel somewhere so instead of us seeing all of those traveling lines there inside the scene which is awesome   are you there Liz exactly oh okay I am hi and okay you kind of cut out there for a minute and then you're blue anything that's on blue or dark gray work perfectly with clear blue tiles but also with block by block quilting exactly exactly so you get both sets of files so that you have all the versatile versatility you need to create any project you want with those so that's so awesome oh my goodness this is just it's fun I hope you guys all feel like it's fun to kind of hear what's going on well like I say literally in the background camper Bell um because we have this amazing team of these four ladies like she said work at home moms who have made um all of our lives so much more fun and exciting and like really um truly remarkable being able to do this on our home embroidery machines as we do it instead of waiting till the end and then figuring out how to quilt it we're putting together these beautiful designs as we go oh it's awesome okay so Liz you know I'm gonna I'm gonna give a shout out to to everyone out there who's watching because Liz and her team and like I said it's Liz and mookie and Michael and Jennica they're always reading your comments we are so if you know you have that this is the time to let them know what kinds of background cruelties would you want to see what's what I think I've even put this here in a banner I want to know they want to know if you were you know if you had your ideal background quilting design that you could have Liz and her awesome team create what is it that you're looking for in background quilting because we at Kimber Bell want to provide all of that for you um so that you can use block by block method clear blue tiles method and really make it um you know something special for you wouldn't you say so Liz are you ready to take down notes I am so excited we often look at Kimber bells and fellas for ideas so we love all the ideas and we want to make it happen for you so please always send us your ideas yes oh my gosh they're they are they're always looking so you know um yeah the comments are coming up fast feathers I think you have a feathers one in the works don't you it's coming yes we do have one coming yeah I see um oh my gosh beach themed beach themed oh my God such a good idea yeah I love it yeah pretty flowers in one sweet spring dogs art gecko I mean you've got job security Liz I'm here to come no doubt about that oh my gosh yeah it always always needed right always oh my gosh some baby themes I know you've got some baby aliens coming in yes I mean I could just like Liz said you know she gets to be kind of the you know the first to see some of these designs you know right from the start but I also get to see some of the background designs that are coming off of that really early on in the process because these guys are on it they're ahead of the game and it has been really fun to see like what's coming out and so I see what you guys are asking for and I'm going oh   this is kind of fun something military like a Navy themed one with ships submarines planes I like a good idea I really like that okay well you know that team of four is going to be taking down feverish notes today to find out what's going on uh or to to figure out what their roadmap can well what can be added to because you guys are quite quite ahead of the game aren't you we are but we can always move things around   that is awesome all right well Liz I can't thank you enough can't thank you enough for everything that you and your team uh does to make our all of our Lives should we say oh so delightful yeah oh so delightful thank you for everything that you do I know um a lot of people appreciate it and we certainly do too thanks for joining me today say hi to that little guy for me is he with Grandma thank you for having me   yeah oh that's fun okay well have a great day Liz keep on creating thank you for having me have a good one oh don't you love her yeah she one of these days you're gonna have to meet the whole crew because they're all just so awesome so grateful for um their their contributions to to making what Kimber Bell is what it is today so thank you Liz and Team all right guys so let's go on um I just wanted to give you a sneak peek on something that's coming out to shops um they're going to be learning about it here next week because it was supposed to come out a while ago um this old linen pillow cover blank and it didn't make it when we got it wood and now it's here so it's going to be sent out here very soon but I want to show you what I did with this oat linen it's called the oat linen pillow cover blank and it's coming out again next week it's going to be sent to shops with oh so delightful so what I did is I took one of the blocks from oh so delightful the sewing machine and I added it to the oat linen pillow cover blank as you know our our pillow cover planks are already quilted so this this uh like a honeycomb uh hexacon uh look of uh background quilting is already quilted and it comes flat this is what you're going to be looking for it's the Quilted pillow blank it comes with the open side seams so that it's really easy to take any designs any design and then this one I used the design from oh so delightful because we gotta get you to see the possibilities right as you can see it comes just as one flat piece but it's already got a hidden invisible zipper in it so that all I have to do oh and the side seams are already surged as you can see um all I have to do is lay this on the bed of my machine either a sewing machine or a embroidery machine do my design whatever that entails and then I just sew up the sides with like a half of an inch seam and then I've got the opening to put in a pillow form and voila I've got the cutest little pillow and all I did for these little Flags is I just cut some triangle fabrics and just attach them to this uh little mini Rick rack and we'll go into a little bit more details about these kinds of ideas of what to do on these pillow cover blanks in the coming weeks but I did want to give you a heads up that that is also coming to a quilt shop near you online or you know if you're lucky enough to walk through their doors um they will have this and isn't that beautiful if you could see this fabric it's like this linen texture and it truly is a gorgeous versatile uh pillow cover blank that you can put anything on and so for my sewing room I added a you know a little sewing machine but again that comes from the quilt oh so delightful right here being sent to cool shops next week so exciting all right so the reason why I share that with you well a couple reasons is because one it's going to be part of our um giveaway this week but before I go into the giveaway I don't Pastor Bill And Pastor Newms  Pastor Newms: [0:00] And hello wait that's not how you start we start with, hello and welcome to season 3 episode 94 of the Breen Manifesto faith hope and love for the modern Christian I'm pastor newms and Pastor Bill is still down here. In the little corner, for the next three weeks I think it is before you start taking the big Corner again because we've got three three more weeks of this, podcast I mean of this series Pastor Bill: [0:42] I guess in three weeks I'll take the big screen back. My week was. [1:01] Rotated my mattress. Pastor Newms: [1:02] You rotated your. If that is the highlight of your week we need to talk. Pastor Bill: [1:16] That was the highlight of my week. [1:32] Yeah not a whole bunch but yeah. Pastor Newms: [1:34] We didn't stream because my week was crazy we. We did something kind of cool seven days ago that I didn't realize until tonight, because I'm real bad at paying attention to things sometimes because I'm really really bad at life we got our first donation on our. Pastor Bill: [2:23] Heights a mole air horn. Pastor Newms: [2:27] It was mr. groggy because we love him so it was it's good that we got it. But the it is you know family member so it wasn't like a random Watcher but I mean the Trevor Project, is a good, charity so you know money is money so yeah that was kind of cool I noticed it when I logged in today it was like 7 days ago and I was like oh I missed that oops that must have happened last week during church I'm bad big says you have a very weak air horn. Pastor Bill: [3:14] Yeah well. Pastor Newms: [3:15] So that's one of those things so so what else do you. Haha your your screen your mic modulation is straight up ignoring that noise and assuming assuming it's gross background noise. Pastor Bill: [3:37] That's a funny. Pastor Newms: [3:38] Like we see you put it up there we see it light up and we see you go because you're excited and then nothing. Pastor Bill: [3:45] Nothing. Pastor Newms: [3:48] It was quite humorous like. Pastor Bill: [3:51] No Sly screwdriver noise whatsoever just. Pastor Newms: [3:53] Your Sonic I think your Sonic is broken ha ha. Pastor Bill: [3:57] Sonic doesn't Sonic bro. Pastor Newms: [3:59] Yeah I think you just have an LED screwdriver so your week was just kind of normal. [4:25] Chest hair you were. Pastor Bill: [4:25] There's all still there yeah. Pastor Newms: [4:28] Um what are you looking at down there just hair that makes sense. Pastor Bill: [4:33] The top of my belly I guess I don't know. Pastor Newms: [4:35] Top of my belt I do I feel you on that one I have I have hair just the. My week was interesting I started out. Pastor Bill: [5:02] Father think too much information to know that you have hair all over your body. Pastor Newms: [5:15] But to be fair he actually has slightly more hair on his head. Pastor Bill: [5:21] We'll be fine. Pastor Newms: [5:22] To be fair or so my week was weird this week, I worked a lot I, well Monday morning I woke up and it was it was a it I'm in the middle of a gout flare, and it is painful and so I spent most of my week working and then laying down so we have there's a couch here that you can't see because Pastor bills heads in front of it there's a couch right here, we're past your bills head is and it's a futon couch that came with, when says moved in and so when he got a bed for his bedroom there was enough room in it for the couch thing and his so the little settee that was here is gone, and there's now this couch right here right here and so um, multiple times this week it was like okay I'm done with work I don't feel like going downstairs I just go over there and lay down so. Pastor Bill: [6:41] Lay down right here in the room. Pastor Newms: [6:43] I just watch whatever says was doing and then play on my phone and put my feet up and so that was most of my week, taking some extra fat. Pastor Bill: [6:55] Today I called and groggy answered the phone and he was like gnomes is asleep oh okay. Pastor Newms: [7:02] And so that's that's that's where we're going to go next the weird things that happened this weekend and my beard hair has gotten in my headset I hate when that happens the, the hair right here curls and it curls enough that it's under this that it then, gets in my ear and it I didn't straighten my beard before we started tonight so sorry listeners you had to deal with that so Friday, we had DND like normal. Your son's game that was fun but because of my increased vitamins and stuff I missed part of that because I was sick because charcoal, taking activated charcoal does some stuff to systems makes you a little sticky sometimes so we did the end, yeah we did the Indie like normal then Saturday rolled around, and we ended up canceling Monday Bible study in the morning on Saturday the family bible study because there was just a lot of family stuff going on different people in different places. Pastor Bill: [8:18] So when we do what we're doing tonight are we going to get a week ahead again. Because last week we were like we're week ahead we should pick back up next week. Pastor Newms: [8:29] I know we are but that's okay I'm just plugging through hopefully I won't get extremely nauseous directly after this and I won't, not do the post like I'm supposed to do but it will be fine we'll be fine it'll be fine it'll be fine I'll be fine. Pastor Bill: [8:49] That'll be fine. Pastor Newms: [8:51] Several people in the family bible study can't even use, which witch or listen to podcasts so Biggs will realize it glorious realize you know it is all good, I do have a couple other family members that do listen to it when the podcast comes out and we love that they do as well because that's fun. So we'll see if they notice because I'm not going to say anything this time because I said something about it last time but I'm not going to this time and so, we had to cancel it and so I was like okay and it was funny because when we cancelled it didn't the cats like the cats like new so then my my boy cat, Amy and then the other cat that hangs out in my room all the time Shila both, one of them lay on my pillow and one of them laid next to me like okay cool we're not getting up and I'm like how do they know we're not cats cats gravy like so and then we woke up and then we had. Pastor Bill: [9:59] It out of my head. Pastor Newms: [10:12] How. The the best is actually here he's downstairs groggy is and so he Chi is doing her do not leave groggy at all because she, knows that groggy leaves after dinner and he only stays one night and then he leaves and so she's not leaving, his lap, and it's a cert we call it her don't leave ritual because she just follows him around the house when he goes to get a drink or anything and then sits on him the whole time it's really funny so, groggy was some he was actually in town visiting a different family member and he called Tina and he was like can I can I come over, and she's like sure and so he came over. [11:04] And I'd lay down take a nap and so then he gets here and he like you said you called me and he answered the phone well then I had to run out because I bought most of what I needed for dinner but I didn't buy everything. And I was like okay let me go get a couple things and then I'll come home cooked dinner so came home start cooking dinner and I've got nice Grill it's not an amazing girl yeah and and groggy had no intention on spending the night or staying he was just going to stop by because he was in town, and of course that doesn't work because I'm very needy and I tend to beg, and the girls beg all the time so he of course was the cuckoo Castle spend the night so. Pastor Bill: [11:47] Mmm okay fine. Pastor Newms: [11:50] Yeah okay fine especially when Serphiona was like by the way I just made the bed upstairs I cleaned the room and made the bed so you can sleep up there and he's like but I wasn't going to, all right fine it's fine so I start to grill now a couple weeks ago when I grill. [12:10] I told Tina I was like Zaydie look, I need to clean the grill there is too much grease buildup in the bottom of the grill I need to clean the grill I need you to help me remember to clean the grill, I did not remember to clean the grill so I start grilling the burgers no big deal everything's fine everything's fine flipping the burgers once they get the the juice on the top so that. [12:39] You know you know once you know that the juice is risen so then you flip them and you know using cook them low and slow so that way you don't burn them it you know all the things you need to do go inside and I'll make it macaroni and cheese inside and I was making mashed potatoes inside and I was making I think that was all I was making, inside so now go back outside and I flip them all, and there's a little bit of a poof on one of the area's right because that happens when you are cooking Burgers over gasps you know you know cuz, grease and I'm like alright cool no problem tonight, you know Pat the top of the burger is flip you know rotating around because I do have one hot spot in my grill and rotate them all and then I kind of half turn around and the fire has not gone down it has actually caught, the bottom underneath the flame where the grease had built up. That caught fire and so all of a sudden the fire is like taller than me and, it's not hitting the house but it's taller than me and it's just fire and I'm like oh I'm sorry I crack the door and and I'm like. Pastor Bill: [13:56] This sounds familiar. Pastor Newms: [13:58] It does this is why I made you wait so that way you could and I was and I opened the door and I was like water now and they bring me this big thing, and I dump the water on it well if you smother it it does go out and so it did it went out. He's got to use more water than I know it's not how you should handle it huh. Pastor Bill: [14:19] Their edges to catch the water is that what you're saying. Pastor Newms: [14:21] Yeah yeah because they're because it was because it's it's the bottom of the grill it's the inside of the grill so once you dump the water the water you know Smothers the fire that's there, cuz I know I know grease fires a No-No you don't throw water on a grease fire unless you can smother which I did so. Pastor Bill: [14:43] Was there much you know unless you're intending to make the grease fire spread. Pastor Newms: [14:47] Yeah yeah. Pastor Bill: [14:48] Then you can add water to it but. Pastor Newms: [14:50] So Now for those of you out there in Internet land and listening land what's funny about this is, about six months before I moved from Texas to Tennessee so about almost three years ago now, zadie was cooking Burgers walked away from the grill it was an older Grill and one of the. Regulators that controls you know how much gas do you put in went out and so it started pouring gas into the grill and actually like, basically borderline flamed the grill out to which someone came running into our trailer at the time and. [15:41] Grabbed the girls one of our neighbors yelling your house is on fire grab the girls grab the cats, move the cars and we ended up with like hockey pucks and the fire department was already on its way and it was just around the corner so it was real fast but it, that was not anyone's fault this one, was straight-up my fault that one no one's fault a regulator went bad, not Zaydie this one straight up my fault so we had to throw away we had these big plastic things outside to hold it hold on my grill stuff, I melted part of the side of it so those got taken to the dump today and Zaydie dried the hamburgers because of course they were, they were I was like like moments from them being done, you know I had checked the temperature and I was just rotating to get the right amount of nice grill marks on certain ones on the outside and so I'd moved all the ones outside and sit the middle just and. [16:55] So they were still good one of them was a little overdone which I ate that one because I, only wanted one Burger anyway and so I ate the one that was a little overdone I think but it was it was good because nothing got damaged and I think a trip but and the grills functional I've already tested at clean but I so then this morning, that was my last night and so I spent like 20 minutes last night, cleaning the grill like you know just making sure it was cooled off make sure you know assessing damage you know blah blah blah and then this morning when I got up I immediately. [17:35] Went out there took apart the grill cleaned all the grease you know etcetera Etc threw everything away, but yeah so that was my humorous oh my goodness what did you just do experience, and then Biggs came over and we went to, Lowe's and got the board and the trim to frame the puzzle that we finished. [18:11] Last week week before last I don't remember which week it was, and so we glued that today and we cut the you know cut the trim so that way it's sitting nice because it's so big that you can't buy a frame for it the Frank any frame, big enough would actually have to be a custom frame not one that you can even like, go buy some pieces and you know blah blah he actually have to buy the Plexiglas Bible and it was, very expensive and so we just went and bought you know the stuff they make cork boards out of not corkboards pegboards where there, the pegboard were there glossy on one side and the other side like almost, cloth feely but it's not cloth yeah but it's composite and it's got all the holes drilled in it well we got a piece of that board that's that small thickness, pre hole cut because they sell that and so that way you can drill your own holes and just you know have it not a full pegboard. [19:15] And so we bought one of those we of course flipped it over so that glue seeps into that composite also to get that puzzle real good in, down and then we bought a trim that we did the 45 degree angles so we can put it on there and so at some point soon I'll have that and that might actually take the place of The Boondock Saints The Same, it moved I don't know for sure but I was thinking that might be one of the places that it might end up right next to the Saints I haven't fully decided I think the science might come over, and it go above the thing or the Saints might move that way I don't know where it's going to go yet, the Saints might go right here actually but, so yeah that was my crazy weekend of just like oh my gosh I can post burnt the house down. Pastor Bill: [20:15] All right oof. Pastor Newms: [20:15] So yeah and that's why I never came back after dinner when I was like we're going to stream after dinner and then I was like no we're not never mind and you're like. Pastor Bill: [20:28] Never came back. Pastor Newms: [20:29] You're like a I've never yet never came back until it. Pastor Bill: [20:32] He never came back. Pastor Newms: [20:34] Super late because I spent the whole time doing that and never never really recovered, so Pastor Bill: [20:47] All right did your your week to draw a card. Pastor Newms: [20:51] Oh We got to know the pastor's I tried to burn the house down there we're done for the week what's the most traumatic thing that happened to you this week if you had to describe your personality in terms of a farm animal. [21:11] What animal would you choose I'll let you go first Pastor Bill what animal would you be if you had to choose a farm animal, to be. What farm animal. Pastor Bill: [21:36] I guess I'd be the hound dog you know the one that when it came to the farm has a puppy it was all exuberance and and you never knew what it was gonna do and now it's old and tired and just wants to sit on the porch and. Not do anything anymore. Pastor Newms: [21:54] All right. Hmm this is hard such a hard description oh yeah I'd be an ass I would be the donkey let's be honest I'm stubborn as a mule I'm functional I'll help you if I feel like it. Pastor Bill: [22:27] Yeah I was gonna say rooster. Pastor Newms: [22:29] Where are you. Pastor Bill: [22:31] And yeah and groggy said it on a hunt witches well. Pastor Newms: [22:35] Now why do you say rooster because I'm loud and obnoxious that's rude. Pastor Bill: [22:41] Well a rooster rooster does that thing where they're protective and there they've got that caustic personality, and they'll come in they'll spur you and then a few minutes later they'll be like oh I love that you give me food and I'm gonna hang out with you and be sweet now. Pastor Newms: [23:03] I heard it I heard an interesting things. So it's one of those things where and the Lord sometimes has to whip to get me to move. The right direction I'll go. Pastor Bill: [23:33] Did you just say the Lord is your Balaam. Pastor Newms: [23:35] No I said that I am no I would never say that because Balaam was, an idiot but. There are times when yes as 80 said zaidi just said sometimes I have a really hard time listening and following, like if you pull me I'm immediately going to be like know why are you pulling me for don't you don't get to lead me I'm going where I'm going stop, but no but I need you to go forward I don't want it no and then God's like Excuse me yes you are and the little you know and you're like oh okay yeah sure we'll go that way oh I see why we were going that way that makes sense I should have went this way you're right you're right you're right yeah I suppose that's why I think of myself as a donkey I do have to wake the whole house up so that rooster would work because there are lots of days where I have to be the one to wake everybody up. Pastor Bill: [24:37] Are you more of a donkey or more of a mule. [24:46] Because like there's a donkey. That who knows why people keep donkeys I have no idea and then there's the mule which is basically half horse half donkey, which is what people actually ride on it's actually what Balaam would have been writing on it can carry packs you know and it's actually useful. Pastor Newms: [25:06] People keep donkeys to make mules I mean that's because mules can't reproduce. Pastor Bill: [25:16] Mules are yeah because once you once you mix that horse and that donkey together it's a sterile creates a sterile thing. Pastor Newms: [25:25] That's why people keep donkeys is to make mules and I've made several stubborn entity's in my life. [25:39] All right. Pastor Bill: [25:40] In the analogy of the lordly you know the Lord uses you to blah blah blah then you'd be more the mule than you would the Donkey. [25:55] Donkeys have that that rear kick that really strong beer kick and when they get spooked and so I can see them using donkeys to help guard kettle. Pastor Newms: [26:07] But wouldn't you just use cattle dogs. [26:15] I don't know I mean Biggs is more country than either of us so if he said it is probably true. Pastor Bill: [26:24] This is more country than I am. Pastor Newms: [26:25] No no he's more for me than you are. Pastor Bill: [26:35] Okay okay okay that makes sense yeah I'll give you that one. Pastor Newms: [26:38] All right so this week this week we are talking about. Pastor Bill: [26:50] Well we're still undecided bullshit. Pastor Newms: [26:51] We're talking about discipleship that's right the title of tonight's. Gross I almost said message the title of tonight's talk the meeting were having is. Should we be intimate and the reason why. Is one I like to have funny titles but more importantly is you know we're following. And working through, I'm in our personal lives because you bought the book too so we're working through in our personal lives the the book by Tony Evans, the kingdom disciples and that's what we are basing you know this discussion on is as we study this we're kind of talking about it. And that's one of the things he's talking about in discipleship one of the needs of discipleship is intimacy with God. And. Pastor Bill: [27:54] And intimacy despite modern contextual does not mean a sexual relationship. Pastor Newms: [28:04] Right. Pastor Bill: [28:04] You can have intimacy with a with with god with another human being and and not be romantic and it not be sexual it can just be a close intimate relationship. Pastor Newms: [28:15] Right and she'll like the the actual, dictionary definition is close familiarity friendship closeness, so you know words that you could also use for poor like you said familiarity togetherness. And then there is the secondary that is used nowadays which is you know the intimate act or private and cozy atmosphere. [28:51] But that intimacy that we have is important because one of the things we're always talking about is Christianity. Is not about the religion it's about the relationship and taking that step between quote-unquote salvation being a Christian that first step towards discipleship, that we take the is building that intimacy and closeness with. God having a relationship not just having a religion and one of the things that, and I found that to be a really interesting statement. So many people who practice Christianity but don't. [30:05] Do it you know they're a part of it they claim it they say they are they but they don't actually have that intimate closeness they're just following the Motions of Christianity they're not living, in Christianity and I think that is real big and happens, in the last time we had a full conversation we talked about, auditing a college course is similar to you know there are people auditing Christianity and so you know we talked about that, last time and it's the same thing there are people just walking the walk they're walking the religion they're part of the religion but they do not have the actual relationship and they're not working towards that intimacy there just. [30:52] I'm sitting in my Pew I am singing my song I am being nice to my neighbor I am paying my tithe I am doing the things God has I wrote down that we have to do and you're like whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa that's not the point, the point is the things that we do are supposed to be the outpouring of our relationship, because we want to not because we do them to be a Christian it's a it's the outpouring of it, you look like you're about to say something before I go to the next thing I wanted to say. Really cuz there was a lot of white which means you were looking something up are you sure. You do the same thing you do to me when it gets really white and you're like you're Googling something what did you refine so. [31:48] The first scripture I wanted to look at was John 15, around this intimacy aspect and we're going to start in verse 1 and then I forgot to write down the other scripture that's in First Corinthians that we're going to look at later maybe, bill can find that because he knows which one I'm talking about that was talked about but I have to find it so, I'm going to start this is the parable of the Vine, in 15 1 which is I am the True Vine and my father is the gardener every branch in me that does not produce fruit he removes and he prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it produces more fruit, you are already clean because of the word I've spoken to you remain in me and I in you just as the branch, isn't able to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine neither can you unless you remain in me I am the vine you are the branches the one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit because you can do nothing without me, if anyone does not remain in me he is thrown aside they gather them throw them up in the fire and they are burned. [33:07] If you remain in me and my work my words remain in you ask whatever you want it'll be done my father is glorified by this that you produce much fruit, and prove to be my disciples as the father has loved me I have loved you remain in my love, keep my Commandments you will remain in my love just as I have kept my father's Commandments and remain in his love I've told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete, this is my command love one another as I have loved you no greater love than this to lay down his life for his friends you are my friends, if you do what I command you I do not call you servants anymore because the servant does not know what his master is doing I call you friends because I've made known to you, everything I have heard from my father you did not choose me but I chose you I appointed you to go and produce fruit that your fruit should remain so whatever you ask of, the father in my name he will give you this is what I command you love one another so to a couple things I want to pull out of this one is. So often everyone quotes the one thing you know what's the best commandment you know love the got love thy God and, do that love others as yourself move on. [34:30] In this passage in John I always find it interesting jesus takes it a step farther love others because I loved you, and in that one hurts a little more for those of us that struggle with liking other people because that one is like, okay. This isn't even have like a caveat of like yourself because of yourself if you know it's just straight up like you should love others because I like you and you're like oh yeah sure and then again. Digital Data love other love one another and then it you know it goes on in the next passage about how you know the world will hate us we just talked about it in the past John 15:18 but I find it interesting love one another period, now I know periods weren't in the original manuscript but you know what I mean and it's like if the world hates you is that beginning of the next part which. [35:32] Is it stated before the love but it's stated in such a way that's like you should love everyone, a lot of people are going to hate you though and that's, doesn't matter I stated the love part first on purpose and you're like oh yeah okay that's that's that's valid so that's one of the aspects that I wanted to point out about about this is the whole thing about love is so important loving others blah blah blah but the other, what's wrong. Pastor Bill: [36:05] I had something to say two things one. And John 15:18 when it says if the world hates you would we've talked about it before but that word. Pastor Newms: [36:17] Right. Pastor Bill: [36:19] Um used there is a figurative word meaning moral world's the morally world, he's talking about the religious World there in that context if the religious order hates you. When you're loving everyone it's because they don't love me Jesus They Don't Love don't love God you know that's why they hate that you're loving everyone, um and then 1512. John 15:12 this is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you why does this remind me of The Princess Bride. And that night the king died and Prince Humperdinck and Buttercup were married and the next day a prince King Humperdinck addressed the people my father's last words will love her, as I loved her why does it remind me of that scene. Pastor Newms: [37:16] I'm not sure but okay. Pastor Bill: [37:19] Anyway. If we compare around well God with all your heart soul mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself if the compound that into. Love one another as I have loved you. Then Jesus could all very easily also be saying here to love yourself. The way that Jesus loves you. Pastor Newms: [37:50] That is a hundred percent accurate yes. Pastor Bill: [37:55] Right because you have to know how to love yourself and then out of that extension then you love your neighbor as yourself. How do you love yourself you love yourself the way Jesus loves you, how does Jesus love you will Jesus wants the best for you once the healthiest for you he wants it's right for you he doesn't want you have to do things multiple times he doesn't want you to be left high dry and lonely on and on and on and you know what I mean, um smell of yourself, the way Jesus loves you make those decisions that align with well what is what what is the best for me what does the person who literally died for me what would he choose for me in this situation. What you know and choose that so those are the things I had to add about that little segment there. Pastor Newms: [38:48] Okay and and I agree definitely it is it is an extremely valid point of that. As we look at what Jesus says ever or what you know anywhere in the Bible we should look at the whole thing so when we combine those two aspects it isn't interesting. Thought process. Pastor Bill: [39:22] I know I know Paul later on says no man is ever hated himself but nourishes the body I'm sorry Paul your words did not age well in that instance. Pastor Newms: [39:35] Well and I will agree and on the flip side of it. I sometimes wonder if Paul wasn't overcompensating some depressive thoughts himself it's some of what he says with a situation like that. Pastor Bill: [39:59] I think Paul does a lot of overcompensating for his own issues in a lot of things that he talks about. Pastor Newms: [40:04] Cuz it's like yeah it's a because he's so down on himself so often in other parts of scripture when he says something like that you're like. Pastor Bill: [40:15] Now guys remember I told you not to have sexual relations with other guys and then the people reading the letters are like. Is he talking to me is he talking to hear who the heck is he talking to none of us none of us here do that Paul. That's not even part of our culture Paul. Pastor Newms: [40:35] Wrong wrong letter run letter you meant to send that to the Romans. Pastor Bill: [40:41] Give it good to you must submit so there's somebody else or I don't know maybe it was just on your mind Paul. Pastor Newms: [40:47] It is interesting some of the things that Paul says often so with. [40:59] Ron God I don't worship that God why would you tell me not to do that in worship of a God that I don't worship, I'm confused so one of the interesting things the second interesting thing about this is talking about, you know a Vine and a branch and when you look at that vine and branch in a Vineyard, and I don't I only know this because of what I've been told let's be clear because I don't, drink wine like wine I don't even like grapes that much but you have to have a support structure for the vine the Vine, if it's on the ground it'll die if it's on the it's now I do know this as a fact with cucumbers and green beans that they have to have something to grow on and tomatoes to a certain degree they have to have something to grow on those Vine, they can't just grow like a potato potatoes can their Vine the grow underground and it's it's a weird I system that's true potatoes are weird fruit vegetable whatever but. [42:21] With a grape with different fruits like that it can't survive without that support structure and. [42:32] It's not going to Bear good fruit without that support structure it'll be a Vine it'll Vine across the ground it might or might not die but it's just going to vine across the ground no big deal, but it won't bear that fruit unless it has that support structure and and so often that's how we are as humans without. Does support in the relationship in the intimacy of the Christian walk we won't do the things that. We should be doing not to say that no one can not to say that no one does but the fruit that the God wants we can't produce if we're not listening to what God wants us to do, we might produce fruit but it's not going to be the fruit that he wants us to produce if we're not listening and being close with God. [43:31] So that's that was kind of the the reason why that one stood out to me was that, Vine and closeness in and the fruit that we should be showing as Christians and being a light to the world and being, you know working on building disciples and working on you know helping others to grow we can't do that unless we're close to God ourselves, obviously they have not heard from God because they're just bearing some kind of strange fruit because they are not actually close to their Branch not that we will ever name names on here, you know who you are anyway. Pastor Bill: [44:20] You know who. Pastor Newms: [44:21] You know who you are so that that's that's the one I kind of wanted to look at in that area. Did you have any other points about that before I while I look for the other verse that I'm looking for. Pastor Bill: [44:42] So I had Adam I wanted to talk about this abide thing, and it's connection with intimacy because it dare in John 15 Jesus says it over and over again if you abide in me and I abide in you. And this idea of bide it's this this Greek word Mentos minnow, and it means to stay in a given Place State relationship or expectancy abide continued well endure the present remain stand Terry, hold your own you know like. You get that idea of like in the movie 300 when they get all their Shields together in their standing their ground abide you know hold your own. Um this is the ideas that this word expresses and so Jesus uses that over and over and over again abide in me as I abide in you, and it creates this this close intimacy when you're abiding in that area but I specifically wanted to point out in John 21. [46:06] 22 it says Jesus saith unto them I'm reading out of the King James at the moment if I will that's not right why did I write that down. [46:24] Hope that's not the verse I was looking for but I wrote it down for some reason. [46:39] Who had to write that down. Pastor Newms: [46:41] It does have the word remain in it. Pastor Bill: [46:44] It has it but that's not the verse that I was going to talk about. Pastor Newms: [46:47] It has the. Pastor Bill: [46:53] Okay so we'll do it with not the reference all right so there's there's the time that you know there at the end and Jesus says go into Jerusalem and abide there until the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And so. The given these orders as a group to go and abide in this area right so most of them at this point have been doing excuse me. Ministry together you know shoulder-to-shoulder face-to-face with the people. Now they had to replace two of the disciples right at right at the Forefront there, and so they replace them with two you know two new people so 10 of these guys they've been in in the thick of it for the last three years, at this point Jesus old followers come back out of the woodwork so there's probably about 120 150 of them all biting in Jerusalem, and every day they're going to the temple and they're praying and they're talking to people and they're they're just kind of hanging out and the whole idea here is that. [48:11] They're becoming intimate with each other, because they've never had time to do that this whole time they've been focused on Jesus or focus on Ministry to the people Jesus or minister to the people not each other they're not really building these interconnects relationships. And so this is the point where they're starting to build the structure of the relationships with each other that's actually going to support the new church right the new church is going to sit on top of those relationships, and so their abiding in this area all 120 150 of them getting to know each other becoming the beginning of this structure. [48:51] But not only that, the people in the city are starting to see them and get familiar with them they're becoming starting to have this intimate idea of who these men are these men and women who they really are, can they trust them do you know do they believe in them is it somebody you would want to babysit your kids you know they're learning this about these men. So then when the day of Pentecost hits and the Holy Spirit falls on these people that are in the upper room it's people that, the Staples in the city the Craftsman the the merchants the the ladies you know that are making clothes for the kids and getting water and and cooking and all of these people, the priesthood they've all been living in and around these men. [49:47] For a certain amount of time this extended amount of time and when the Holy Spirit hits and they come out and they're speaking in tongues, and and all of these guests in the town are like who are these people that they're speaking in my own language that's the moment when the shopkeeper goes, well those are those are the good old boys they've been around for a while they I know them hey if they're saying that then it's got to be true, you know I trust them we're in cement and so we get this idea of we talk about discipleship is this. [50:22] Relationship thing and it's this idea of abiding not just abiding in The Lord of letting the Lord change you but abiding in your, area where you've been placed abiding in your secular job abiding in Wherever You Are. [50:40] And creating those relationships where people around you, see you they trust you they know you they understand you and vice versa and then when the Lord moves in your life and you say. I prayed about that and it happened or I felt like the Lord was telling me to do something and I feel like it cause this to happen those people who've been watching your life who have an intimate knowledge of you because you've been abiding, right you've created this relationship that's that's the moment when it can go from. Just a relationship too, we have a limp if you really want to know then let me tell you about the Lord and what he's done for me and what it can do for you and and lead them to Salvation, that's how this discipleship thing works it wasn't like I mean yeah Jesus sent them out in pairs at one point he said hey go out and do ministry, and if someone rejects you that's fine just walk away, he wanted them to see firsthand what it was like to go blindly into a scenario where you have no standing you don't know anybody you know trying to do ministry and they came back in and they were like it was rough out there man. [51:58] So they were learning this lesson of discipleship and intimacy and then Jesus says Angola by in. Plant yourself there you know start this discipleship campaign. And so that's what I wanted to talk about it was you know we need to be wherever you are whatever season your life is in plug in. Abide there don't. Clock in do your work and go home sure don't give your company more time than they're paying you for but your co-workers the culture there that the people that you know abide, abide in their lives abide in that area and make that impact. [52:46] Back to you Pastor newms. Pastor Newms: [52:48] Yeah and that's definitely always interesting to look at because we are we're supposed to be in the world, but not all of it so we're supposed to be in it constantly just being there with other people and and. Pastor Bill: [53:08] Oh well I'm I only hang out with my church friends I only go to church events I only. You're not being in the world you're not being out there you're not being a light in the darkness that's not what that looks like. That's. [53:28] I don't know how else to say it. Pastor Newms: [53:31] Yeah. And so it is an interesting thought of okay where are we where we abiding where are we and I found it interesting, dr. Evans when he was talking he talked about it when he was talking about abiding he talked about tea and you know some people you know up and down up and down up and down up and down up and down that's how they make their tea and then some people go teabag and then it just it abides there it stays there and, the water becomes T and if we're not abiding where we're supposed to we're not going to end up becoming what we're supposed to be, and jumping in and out in and out in and out a lot more work and which that's what I do the water gets hot you throw the tea in you do then, add the sugar later and all that jazz but yeah so. That's really all we had tonight I think you have anything else. Pastor Bill: [54:41] Nope did you not find your verse out of Corinthians. Pastor Newms: [54:43] Heidi did but I don't want to talk about it now. Pastor Bill: [54:51] Okay just put it in the text to send everybody home with and they can look it up for themselves and. [55:04] I don't think I don't think I'm going to do that I don't think so. Pastor Newms: [55:07] No it doesn't it doesn't feel right for the conversation anymore it might be it might be maybe next week we'll see maybe next week. Pastor Bill: [55:21] Same grin Time same Berean Channel. Pastor Newms: [55:31] So this podcast that you're listening to or watching, is recorded live on Sunday evenings at 6:30 central time if you go to our website EK K dot house you can see where it is that that's broadcast too. And you can it is Art which our Facebook and our YouTube you can join us on Twitch for all of our wonderful gaming nest, gaming this of hanging out with us and getting to know us better on other times as well when we do that when I do. As we acknowledge the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, it's somewhat appropriate that we dive deep on what many consider the greatest CD Maxi Single in INXS' catalogue: “Heaven Sent”.   With the early 1990's signifying a real musical shift, INXS spearheaded their seminal Welcome to Wherever You Are with this four-to-the-floor rock stomper that surprisingly started off as a country-tinged ballad.   Including the bonus tracks “It Ain't Easy”, “11th Revolution”, “Deepest Red” and the gliding version of “Heaven Sent”, INXS Access All Areas explores this exciting period in 1992 when bands took great risks with their releases.   So, as we enjoy getting all musical again, sit back and enjoy what kicked off an exciting new period of experimentation for the great INXS.   Love and peace ✌️ Haydn & Bee https://www.inxsaccessallareas.com   Please sign the petition and help us get INXS inducted in the RRHF https://www.change.org/p/induct-inxs

The COVID-19 pandemic launched a great experiment in the way we work, at least for office workers. Remote work became routine early in the pandemic. Two and a half years later many people are still working part-time from home. And, with low unemployment and workers who demand flexibility, it looks increasingly likely that some combination of remote and on-site work is here to stay. MPR News guest host Chris Farrell talks about what this dramatic change in how we work and interact with colleagues in the office means for workplace culture, employee collaboration and even office design. Guests: Alexandra Samuel works from her home in Vancouver, Canada as a tech writer and journalist whose work appears in the Wall Street Journal and Harvard Business Review. She is co-author of “Remote, Inc.: How To Thrive at Work….Wherever You Are” published in 2021. Gustavo Razzetti is founder and CEO of Fearless Culture, a business management consulting company based in Chicago. He's also the author of “Remote Not Distant: Design a Company Culture to Thrive in a Hybrid Workplace” published in June. With the X album and Welcome to Wherever You Are making great inroads into the Scandinavian charts, the band toured did a promo, and supported the region that laid claim to great musical pioneers like ABBA.   Melodies and rhythms transcend lyrical and language barriers and the stern hooks, melodious sounds, and sonics of INXS struck a chord then and now with the fans of Scandinavia. Episode 103: The Making of FMDH, Part One   In the first of our two-part deep dive with famed international producer Mark Opitz, we tackle the actual making of Full Moon, Dirty Hearts on the Italian island oasis (whoops!) of Capri and aim to put you right in the time period.   Mark Opitz defines in episode 103 of INXS: Access All Areas that the role of the producer is akin to the director of the movie: guiding the engineers to follow his time-honored practices in getting the sounds and sonics of the vocals, guitars, drums, and keyboards in sync; ensuring the mixes are done to satisfaction, and pushing the band to be the best they can be with their songwriting and studio performance. Despite the commercial failure of Full Moon, Dirty Hearts, particularly in America (no thanks to the record label), the band and Mark came up with 12 tracks that 29 years later still hold up musically. We drill down on the Capri experience to examine “where” each member of the band was at, personally and professionally, after Welcome to Wherever You Are and a recent retreat to Michael's South France villa.   Why was Capri chosen? What actually happened there? (Warts and all!) And what did the imminent ending of INXS' long-term arrangement with its label mean for the marketing and distribution for Full Moon, Dirty Hearts?   Mark has never been more erudite and revealing as we take you on a “Back to the Future, fly on the wall” experience of the entire Capri affair: the island, the hotel, the history, the recording studio, the ad hoc phone calls to Bono from Michael, the sudden arrival of Chris Murphy who sought to renegotiate his management deal, and Michael's post-accident period where he was adjusting to life without the vital senses of taste and smell.   Sometimes great music can come out of great calamity and band dysfunction (hello, Fleetwood Mac 1977 Rumours), and we are lucky to have this often forgotten and neglected album to listen to and re-appreciate some 29 years later. So, before we examine each track and discuss the songs, sit back and immerse yourself in a time and place where the band was enjoying a creative peak, if not a commercial one, and embrace the making of Full Moon, Dirty Hearts.   Love and Peace ✌️   Haydn Our eBay auction is underway https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/125264217523   To become a Patron/subscriber check out our different levels and see which one suits you.   https://patron.podbean.com/INXSAccessAllAreas   Please sign the petition at http://inductinxs.comto help get INXS nominated into the ROCK & ROLL HALL of FAME, where they belong.

----more---- Full Moon, Dirty Hearts (November 1993) was the fastest album release (only 15 months since Welcome…) since the band's second album Underneath the Colours in 1981. Too much product too soon was the record label's thoughts, and as such, this poorly-promoted release suffered commercially after 1992's critically-acclaimed Welcome to Wherever You Are. That aside, Full Moon, Dirty Hearts was a versatile, hook-laden album with more right- and left-turn sounds and sonics than a “Rome City Roundabout”! Funk, soul, grunge, R&B, the blues, and world music sounds are all explored musically under the right stewardship of famed musical producer Mark Opitz on the Isle of Capri, Italy. With guest appearances by Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Ray Charles and Chrissie Hynde, many of the songs were stylistically different from one another. This also opened up the band to be the first that recorded an entire album visually with several young Aussie directors each given a track to make a video.   No doubt the lead single “The Gift” (co-written by Jon and Michael) became the spearhead track that was most successful chart-wise and video award-wise (thank you Richard Lowenstein) and set the tone for another change in INXS' musical direction.   So, today Bee and I dive deep into an ignored gem in the INXS arsenal of albums and scrutinize how it stands up 29 years later.   Love and Peace ✌️   Our eBay Auction is underway https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/125264217523   To become a Patron/subscriber check out our different levels and see which one suits you. https://patron.podbean.com/INXSAccessAllAreas   Please sign the petition at http://inductinxs.comto help get INXS nominated into the ROCK & ROLL HALL of FAME, where they belong.
