In this episode, we chat with Sydney Kuppenbender, a Métis-Ukrainian-French Canadian researcher and environmental advocate from rural Northern Saskatchewan. Sydney's powerful vision for the future of the environmental sector emphasizes the need for animals and the land to be consulted as equals in conservation and land management processes.Sydney recently completed her Master's degree in Environment and Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan, where her research focused on the role of intuitive interspecies communication (IIC) in wildlife conservation and human-animal conflict resolution. Her work beautifully intertwines her Indigenous roots with modern conservation science, offering a fresh perspective on how we can better understand and respect the spiritual and relational connections we share with animals. In this episode, Sydney takes us through her journey of discovering IIC, the challenges and breakthroughs of working alongside animal communicators, and how her research can shift the paradigm in conservation practices. She shares powerful stories from her research, including a case where an animal communicator was called in to help with the relocation (which can often be very complex, challenging and even dangerous) of elephants. Join us as we explore how asking the right questions, and truly listening to the answers, can help foster a more harmonious relationship between humans and the natural world.Listen now to hear Sydney's inspiring journey and her vision for a more inclusive and compassionate approach to environmental conservation. For more information, visit Sydney's:Website at https://www.sydneykuppenbender.ca/ Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/borealiskwiw/LinkedIn account at https://www.linkedin.com/in/sydney-kuppenbender-596b22b3/She also mentions Indigenous Elder Copper Jack's work in this episode. Send us a textTyler Chilabecki's love affair with the Saskatchewan wilderness began with a fishing rod in his hand at just three years old. Now, as the creator behind the YouTube channel Puddle Jumper, he's on a mission to shatter stereotypes about his home province one paddle stroke at a time."Everyone thinks of Saskatchewan as flat prairies and wheat," Tyler explains with the weariness of someone who's heard it once too often. "But half our province is boreal forest and Canadian Shield." This northern wilderness forms the backdrop for his solo paddling adventures, which range from weekend trips to epic three-week journeys through some of Canada's most untouched waterways. What makes Saskatchewan's backcountry uniquely appealing is the profound solitude it offers. While popular parks like Algonquin might have portage trails "like superhighways" with paddlers carrying coolers and boxes of wine, Tyler describes paddling for 12 days in Northern Saskatchewan without seeing another soul. Even in the province's "busier" paddling areas around Missinipi on the Churchill River, traffic is minimal compared to other Canadian paddling destinations. The geological diversity adds another layer of fascination. In the "Pelican Window" area, paddlers can find three-billion-year-old Precambrian rock formations that create dramatic landscapes unlike anything you'd expect from Saskatchewan. Tyler's eyes light up describing the Athabasca Sand Dunes, Hunt Falls (the province's largest waterfall), and ancient pictographs along historic voyageur routes that connect the province's vast network of lakes and rivers. For those inspired to explore Saskatchewan's hidden waterways, Tyler recommends connecting with local outfitters and using resources like GoTrekker maps. Many routes remain undocumented, requiring paddlers to study satellite imagery and topographic maps – adding an element of genuine exploration to each trip. As Tyler puts it: "There's so much to explore here and so much that's undocumented. That's where I keep my focus – trying to document these different routes that no one really knows about."Ready for a paddling adventure that defies expectations? Interview with Alfred Stewart, Chairman, Director & VP Corporate Development of Searchlight ResourcesRecording date: 8th January 2025Searchlight Resources (TSX-V:SCLT), a Canadian exploration company, is advancing a diverse portfolio of rare earth, uranium, and gold projects in Saskatchewan's premier mining districts. The company's Kulyk Lake rare earth project in the Athabasca Basin has emerged as a significant discovery, with a 12-kilometer radiometric anomaly yielding surface samples grading up to 50% total rare earth oxides (TREO). According to Chairman Alfred Stewart, "Northern Saskatchewan is blessed with a large number of rare earth pegmatites and we have established a regional play in the Athabasca Basin area. All of these pegmatites are undrilled."The project's strategic value is enhanced by its proximity to the Saskatchewan Research Council's rare earth processing facility in Saskatoon, specifically designed to process monazite, the primary rare earth mineral found at Kulyk Lake. Recent exploration has identified a mineralized zone measuring 450 by 600 meters, with rock values exceeding $1,000 per tonne.Beyond rare earths, Searchlight controls the Flin Flon North gold project, which hosts four past-producing mines that historically produced around 10,000 ounces per year. The project, located just 5 kilometers from Flin Flon, benefits from existing infrastructure including a mill and tailings facility currently on care and maintenance. Historic work from 1989 outlined a resource of approximately 150,000 ounces. The company's uranium portfolio is anchored by the Duddridge Lake deposit, Saskatchewan's most southerly uranium deposit, acquired during the post-Fukushima uranium bear market. The project hosts a modest resource that remains open for expansion.Operating as a prospect generator, Searchlight aims to minimize shareholder dilution while advancing multiple projects simultaneously. The company maintains a low burn rate with just two key personnel, who are also major shareholders. Currently, Searchlight is in discussions with three different groups regarding their gold and uranium properties. The prospect generator model allows Searchlight to leverage its technical expertise in acquiring prospective ground, then seek larger partners to fund development in exchange for project interest. This approach provides investors with exposure to multiple commodities and discovery opportunities while managing exploration risk. With properties secured in one of the world's top mining jurisdictions, existing infrastructure advantages, and multiple pathways to value creation, Searchlight offers investors a unique opportunity to participate in Saskatchewan's resource sector resurgence.View Searchlight Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/searchlight-resources-incSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Standard Uranium Vice President of Exploration Sean Hillacre joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce significant expansions and exploration updates for the company's uranium projects in Northern Saskatchewan. The Corvo Project has been expanded through low-cost staking, adding three new mineral claims and increasing its size from 7,989 hectares to 12,265 hectares. This strategic addition positions Corvo as a high-value uranium project available for option, enhancing Standard Uranium's portfolio across the Athabasca Basin, where the company now holds over 220,432 acres. Looking ahead, the company plans to conduct a modern electromagnetic survey in fall 2024 to refine drill targets by defining three main conductor trends. The Corvo Project has demonstrated uranium mineralization along an 800-metre strike length between historical drill holes, with historical surface results showing up to 59,800 ppm U. Hillacre also highlighted findings from the inaugural spring 2024 drill program at the Canary Project, which operates under a three-year earn-in option agreement with Mamba Exploration. Analytical results confirmed moderately anomalous uranium in drill holes CAN-24-001 and CAN-24-003, with Uranium ratios indicating hydrothermal uranium input. Elevated uranium zones were associated with structural zones and lithological contacts, pointing to a uranium-fertile system. Additionally, several key uranium pathfinder elements were found in anomalous quantities, providing valuable vectoring data for future exploration. #proactiveinvestors #standarduraniumltd #tsxv #stnd #otcqb #sttdf #mining #uranium #sundogproject #UraniumExploration #AthabascaBasin #MambaExploration #DrillingSuccess #MineralExploration #HydrothermalAlteration #Radioactivity #Geophysics #ExplorationNews #MiningUpdates #UraniumDeposits #ProjectPartnership #MiningInvestment #ExplorationResults #MineralTargets #GeologicalSurvey #ExplorationPhaseTwo #UraniumIndustry #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Interview with Jordan Trimble, President, CEO & Director of Skyharbour Resources.Recording date: 17th April 2024Skyharbour Resources is a high-grade uranium explorer and prospect generator with 29 projects in the Athabasca Basin in Northern Saskatchewan. They have built one of the largest project portfolios in the region and have seven partner companies advancing other projects. The CEO, Jordan Trimble, has been working in the mining industry for 14 years and has a background in finance and entrepreneurship. The company follows a prospect generator model, where they acquire and incubate uranium projects and bring in partner companies to fund exploration and advance the projects. They have structured earning option agreements with their partners, where the partners have to spend a certain amount on exploration and make cash and share payments to earn a stake in the projects. Skyharbour benefits by owning equity in the partner companies and retaining a minority interest and potentially an NSR royalty on the projects. They have already completed three out of seven earnings with their partner companies, potentially bringing in $80 million in combined project consideration. The company has also focused on their two co-flagship projects, Russell and Moore, which are located near the MacArthur River Mine and the Key Lake Mill. They recently raised $6.3 million in flow-through financing to fund their drilling programs at these projects. Skyharbour Resources is focused on uranium exploration in the Athabasca Basin in Canada. They have two main projects: the Moore Lake project and the Preston project. The company follows a hybrid model, combining self-funded exploration with strategic partnerships and joint ventures. They have a strong treasury and receive cash and stock payments from their partner companies. Skyharbour is currently conducting a winter drill program at the Russell project, with the goal of making a new high-grade discovery. They are also planning to drill at the Moore Lake project to expand and infill the high-grade zones. The company believes that the current uranium market conditions are favorable for exploration and expects to see a higher valuation and lower cost of capital if they are successful in their drilling programs.—Learn more: https://cruxinvestor.com/companies/skyharbour-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Standard Uranium President and VP of Exploration Sean Hillacre joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share the company's plans for an aggressive exploration program set to commence in 2024. The program is poised to kick off with the mobilization of crews for the inaugural drill campaign at the 3,061-hectare Atlantic Project located in the prolific eastern Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan. Currently, the Project is under an option agreement with ATCO Mining, which aims to earn a 75% interest in the project. Hillacre outlined that the 2024 drill program is designed to fulfill the first year of minimum exploration expenditures required by the Option agreement. The company plans to drill 2,000 to 3,000 meters across 4 to 6 drill holes, with a focus on targeting high-grade unconformity-related uranium mineralization. One of the key areas of focus for the drill program will be target area A on the Project, where a significant density anomaly coincides with modeled electromagnetic conductors and interpreted faults. Additionally, the program will include follow-up drilling on areas with highly anomalous uranium results and major structural intersections. Overall, Standard Uranium's aggressive exploration program underscores its commitment to advancing the Atlantic Project and unlocking its uranium potential in the highly prospective Athabasca Basin. #proactiveinvestors #standarduraniumltd #tsxv #stnd #otcqb #sttdf #mining #uranium #AtlanticProject, #Exploration, #Mining, #Uranium, #Geology, #ResourceExploration, #MiningIndustry, #Mineralization, #GeologicalSurvey, #DrillingProgram, #ExplorationEfforts, #GeologicalData, #MineralDiscovery, #MiningExploration, #GeologicalResearch, #NaturalResources, #GeologicalAnomalies, #ResourceDevelopment, #MiningUpdates, #InvestmentOpportunity, #EnergySector, #EnvironmentalImpact, #SustainableMining, #IndustryInsights#invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Standard Uranium CEO Jon Bey joined Steve Darling from Proactive to unveil a significant development for the company: the signing of a term sheet with ATCO Mining, enabling them to acquire a seventy-five percent interest in the 3,061-hectare Atlantic Project situated in the eastern Athabasca Basin. This marks the company's fourth option agreement and positions Standard Uranium as the operator of the project. With over thirty million dollars committed to exploration programs over the next three years and nine million dollars dedicated to exploration in 2024, Standard Uranium is poised for significant advancement. In addition to this milestone, Bey disclosed that the company has made another strategic move through the acquisition of the Harrison uranium exploration project in the southwest Athabasca Basin region of Northern Saskatchewan. Through staking, the Ascent project has been expanded by 3,728 hectares, effectively doubling its size. This expansion brings the company's ownership interests to eleven exploration properties, totaling over 209,867 acres across the uranium-rich Athabasca Basin. Notably, the Harrison project presents a compelling opportunity as it has never undergone drill testing, offering Standard Uranium additional exploration exposure in the southwest Athabasca uranium district. These developments underscore Standard Uranium's strategic focus on expanding its exploration portfolio and advancing its presence in key uranium-rich regions. With a robust exploration budget and an expanded project portfolio, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on opportunities in the uranium market. Stay tuned for further updates as Standard Uranium continues its exploration efforts and seeks to unlock significant value for its stakeholders in the dynamic uranium sector. #proactiveinvestors #standarduraniumltd #tsxv #stnd #otcqb #sttdf #mining #uranium #uraniummining, #exploration, #JVpartnerships, #projectgenerator, #AthabascaBasin, #miningnews, #drilling, #geophysics, #explorationprojects, #mineralresources, #investing, #stockmarket, #naturalresources, #energyindustry, #environmentalimpact, #sustainability, #resourcedevelopment, #businessgrowth, #miningindustry, #investorrelations, #geologicalsurvey, #projectacquisition, #projectdevelopment#invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Interview with Troy Boisjoli, CEO of ATHA Energy Corp.Recording date: 12th January 2024Big Vision Explorer ATHA Energy Targets Uranium Riches Across CanadaAs uranium fundamentals reach their most constructive levels in over a decade, ATHA Energy is expeditiously building a portfolio spanning over 7 million acres of highly prospective ground focused squarely on tier-one Canadian mining jurisdictions. Anchored by the massive Hook Lake land package in Saskatchewan's uranium-rich Athabasca Basin, the company also holds key assets in Nunavut and Northern Saskatchewan maturing from early exploration up to historic resources.“The long-term outlook in the uranium space right now is the strongest I've ever seen it,” said CEO Troy Boisjoli amid a recent company interview. “The time to invest and advance across the exploration risk spectrum is a great time." ATHA Energy is positioning itself as an emergent sector leader, systematically deploying capital to expand resources and make new discoveries against exceptionally constructive uranium tailwinds. The Hook Lake project immediately thrusts ATHA Energy into rarified air as one of the dominant landholders in the world's highest grade uranium district. Encompassing over 3 million acres (12,000 square kilometers), Hook Lake offers immense running room to apply modern exploration techniques and capital. Initial survey work and drill testing is already bearing fruit with over 90 million pounds of U3O8 discovered across three zones open in multiple directions.Beyond Hook Lake, deals announced in late 2023 to acquire 92 Energy and Latitude Uranium provide ATHA a foothold in Saskatchewan's GMZ uranium district and Nunavut's past-producing Angilak deposit. Boisjoli sees GMZ as geologically analogous to the prolific 500-million-pound Rabbit Lake trend, with opportunities to expand the existing deposit and test multiple targets along trend. At Angilak, he highlights 60% resource growth from limited drilling by the previous operator. With commodity prices rising amid shrinking global inventories, Boisjoli contends that now presents an optimal time to deploy risk capital along the exploration curve. ATHA Energy offers investors leveraged exposure to a strengthening uranium bull market underpinned by both high-impact exploration and strategic resource expansion. The company has both the technical chops and access to capital to unearth substantial shareholder value as it works to cement itself as an up-and-coming Canadian uranium leader.—Learn more: https://cruxinvestor.com/companies/atha-energySign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

She shares her life learnings and adventures, including: *How she rose from great poverty as a pioneer as an orphan at a young age in extreme backward conditions during the great depression in Northern Saskatchewan to relative prosperity and very comfortable retirement years. *How a child of Canadian immigrants became a successful citizen of both Canada and the United States. *Why she switched from being a Roman Catholic to becoming a Protestant. *How she struggled, having married a devout Christian who became an ardent agnostic believing principally in reason; and finally, after fifteen years, returning to his faith. S.C. Jensen is a Canadian fiction writer, sci-fi and horror enthusiast, and literary advocate. She lives with her husband, children, and various fuzzy friends on an acreage in The-Middle-of-Nowhere (a.k.a. Northern Saskatchewan). She spends most of her days crafting stories about ordinary people forced to act in extraordinary situations and is perpetually rooting for the underdog. That's because she used to be the underdog in her own story. Since quitting drinking on August 31, 2018, she's come into her own as a sober creative and hopes to share her experiences with fiction lovers from all walks of life. Jensen dabbles in horror, thriller, mystery, and contemporary literary fiction but her first reading and writing love has always been science fiction. Recently, she's attempted to mash all these interests together—drawing from American pulp noir detective fiction of the 1930s-1950s and from cyberpunk sci-fi of the 1980s—to create a pulpy sci-fi thriller series called Bubbles in Space. She's used this series to play with all the toys in the genre fiction sandbox, dress archetypes up in the wrong outfits, flip tropes upside down, and generally make a mess of conventions and expectations. One big trope she's decided to do away with is that of the alcoholic detective. As a sober writer, it has become a personal goal for Jensen to focus on telling the stories of sober characters—both those in recovery and those who maintain abstinence for other reasons—as a way to normalize abstinence, sobriety and recovery in pop culture. She wants her books to be a safe, validating place for members of the sober community. Bubbles Marlowe, a sober cyborg detective, marks Jensen's first foray into writing sober characters, and she's been extremely well received. Readers agree that Bubbles in Space is an absolute rollercoaster of fast-paced action, irreverent humor, larger-than-life characters, and plots that keep you guessing until the very end. But above all, they're rooting for their favorite underdog, Bubbles. You can join S.C. Jensen's VIP Readers Club to stay up-to-date with freebies, sales, and new release info. Quotes about change: "Everybody is acting through their own horizon. If you can't understand what that person's horizon is, then you can't effectively interact with them."Garrett Lawless describes his mid-life crisis at 19 when he was deciding on his career. He “wanted to be admired and wanted a high level of competency”, so he joined the army, having had no previous experience or even an interest in the military.  It wasn't easy but he stuck with it – learning the resiliency and tenacity that would serve him well. He trained as a pilot and did a tour in Afghanistan.  Garrett describes what it was like in a war zone where everything matters, to coming home at Christmas and being worried about finding a parking spot.  After serving over 20 years with the military, Garrett became President of a Canadian regional airline in Northern Saskatchewan and founded CTS Aero, which provides proven innovation to pilot training. He talks about the personal toll of 2 divorces – one from his wife and one from his business partners. Garrett has experienced much change in his life, and he approaches it with intellect and logic. His advice on change is not what you'd expect and he shares how he believes we can drive meaning in our lives. Garrett's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/garrett-lawless-b6903718/

Eric Epstein, head of Three Mile Island Alert, on what it means for the nuclear reactor at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania to finally close… and what lies ahead for the local activist community Once a nuclear reactor closes, the need for citizen action doesn’t end; it just shifts to what to do with the highly radioactive waste that remains deadly for literally hundreds of thousands of years. Here in southern California, that focuses on San Onofre and the use of thin-walled storage canisters – only 5/8” of stainless steel – hold the so-called “spent” fuel rods, all of which contain plutonium. Charles Langley and Nina Babiarz of Public Watchdogs talk about legal action taken by their group to stop the loading of the flawed waste canisters, and bring us up to date on where we stand with San Onofre’s nuclear waste legacy. She and her family are members of English River First Nation, Denesuline, and are still gleaning their sustenance from the lands and waters of LaPlonge Reserve in northwestern Saskatchewan. She is Outreach Coordinator for the Committee for Future Generations, a group of volunteers who united against the nuclear industry’s proposal to store high-level nuclear waste in northern Saskatchewan. They hold the uranium mining corporations and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission accountable for long term health problems created by radiation and environmental damage, as it is impacting the mainly Dene, Cree, and Metis people who live and work closest to the uranium mines. CFFG is dedicated to ensuring that the health of the land, waters, and life systems will be protected, so the people can thrive as they always have. As such they work in close solidarity with those around the globe affected by the nuclear industry, both power generating and military. It is seen as a DUTY, to uphold the highest possible standards to protect the DNA of our future grandchildren. Committee for Future Generations was awarded the 2012-2013 Saskatchewan Eco-Network Environmental Activist Award and Council of Canadians Activists of the Year in 2013 for their work against nuclear waste storage in Saskatchewan.
