+++ PLAYLIST +++ · 22:56 – ANKLES von LUCY DACUS · 22:51 – RIDDLES OF MY YOUTH von LAUREL BLOOM · 22:49 – SINGLE FILE LINE von BOLDY JAMES · 22:46 – SUNDAY GIRL von BLONDIE · 22:42 – NARCISSIST von THE TUBS · 22:38 – YOU WERE THE ONES I HAD TO BETRAY von DEAN WAREHAM · 22:35 – WE MUST HAVE BEEN ASLEEP von AINO SALTO · 22:31 – BANG BANG BANG von SPORTS TEAM · 22:28 – OCEAN STEPPIN' von JOHN GLACIER FEAT. ++++++++++Song-Tipps zur Folge++++++++++ "X Offender", "In The Flesh", "Rip Her to Shreds", "Fan Mail", "Denis", "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear", "Hanging on the Telephone", "One Way or Another", "Picture This", "Fade Away and Radiate", "Sunday Girl", "Heart of Glass", "Dreaming", "Union City Blue", "The Hardest Part", "Accidents Never Happen", "Atomic", "Rapture"

Amongst all my summer reading good intentions I knew that I wanted to find something pacey and fun in a good old fashioned edge of your seat kinda way. Pip Drysdale has a way with pacey thriller's. She's the author of The Sunday Girl, The Paris Affair and The Strangers We Know. She's been shortlisted for a Ned Kelly Award and most importantly she's got a new novel out called The Next Girl. So let me read you the byline on the cover of my copy of The Next Girl; “The only way to protect his next victim is to be his next victim…” How could you not want to read this book with that intro?! It promises a morally upright hero who's going for a proper takedown of some sticky predator. A badass girl boss of a protagonist whose moral introspection never hides the fact that she's a stone cold predator slayer, and I was absolutely here for it. Hero Billie is working her way towards becoming a lawyer. Only hitch is it looks like her actions may have blown her latest case, letting abusive douche Dr Samuel Grange go free. Drinking away her sorrows should have helped but instead Billie has woken up in a strange apartment with less than the desirable amount of memory from the night before. Putting that seemingly trivial mystery to the side Billie has to figure out how to pay her rent now that her job's on the line. Oh, and she also has to figure out how to serve some serious extrajudicial justice onto Samuel Grange before some other woman becomes his next victim. Cue… Billie is going to be The Next Girl (That's the name of the book!) I'm having fun with this review because I had fun reading The Next Girl. Billie's earnest first person, confessional style narration keeps you going with her heartfelt backstory, overindulgence in naming dropping band names and ridiculously low key revelation of Billie's vigilantism. Billie has her own utility belt of gadgets and tricks for taking down the bad guys, which are either annoyingly convenient or frighteningly widespread (and we all need to fear for our data and safety - not necessarily in that order). Pip Drysdale's storytelling is designed to hook you in and it does just that. Billie sets us up with all the right plot points so she can knock them down later in the novel. The story gets pretty convoluted whilst still keeping its lightness as Billie flirts with a danger, that as our protagonist we know she likely won't fall victim to. With a lot going on the reader gets the satisfaction of watching multiple douchebags get their just desserts. And even at its most convoluted The Next Girl doesn't go full Keyser Soze on the reader, giving us a fair chance at both keeping up and even guessing the twist. With plenty of summer still left to enjoy, The Next Girl is a solid read for lazy weekends spent at the beach. Toxic men beware because The Next Girl continues Pip Drysdale's run of protagonists who are done with your shit. The Next Girl is available from Simon & Schuster Loved this review? Pip Drysdale’s The Paris AffairPip Drysdale is an actor, Musician and writer. She’s the author of The Sunday Girl, and The Strangers We Know which is currently in production for a TV adaptation. Her latest is The Paris Affair.Harper Brown is in Paris to fulfil her dreams. She’s landed a job as an arts writer for an online publisher covering all the hippest corners of the city of lights.Sure her colleagues refuse to take her seriously, her ex keeps sliding into her DMs to remind her he’s doing great and now the hottest new artist in Paris is hot for her, but Harper has sworn off love.Harper is jaded and she’s got reason. Her ex is a grade 1 gaslighter who won’t let go even after taking her time and money and dumping her just as his band hits the big time (he was fucking the bass player). Harper segues her anger into her writing garnering an online following for her blog ‘How to not get murdered’.And that’s what makes The Paris Affair so compelling. Harper is savvy not just to the typical bastardry of men behaving badly, she tacitly acknowledges the ways seemingly innocuous male behaviour can become dangerous. The Paris Affair does lots of things you’ve seen before in thrillers. There’s a dead woman and an indifferent police force. Another body turns up and this time Harper knows the victim. Yes there is likely an unknown killer stalking the streets of the city of love preying on young women. As mystery/thriller tropes these are not original but here’s where The Paris Affair says ‘hold my bookmark’ and takes the reader down a different cobbled street.Through Harper, Drysdale explores the dangers and benefits of our perpetually online and broadcast world. Harper’s column ‘How to not get murdered’ is a hyper reality version of the sort of situational awareness that women must live with to survive in a world where victims are more likely to be asked what they were wearing than if they are alright. The Paris Affair shows us how in the hands of good guys and bad social media can be weaponized and will definitely have you checking whether your location services are active or not.Pip Drysdale seems to asking the reader to look at their own desire to be seen through a multitude of social platforms and then start to question who is doing the watching. The Paris Affair is an eminently readable novel. I didn’t hate being able to fly through the streets of Montmartre (even if vicariously) while we all site ourselves never too far from home. The writing is pacy and Harper is cynically endearing. You could absolutely take yourself away for a few hours and read The Paris Affair for the escape of it all, but I’d suggest there’s a lot more going on here - dudebros and would-be nice guys need not apply.
4,000 Downloads! Thank you! So in return for this gift, I give you... Lou Christie - Guardian Angels 12" Dance Mix (1981) Producer Ed O'Laughlin co-founded Next Plateau Records, which featured (and was kept afloat with sales by) early Salt 'N' Pepa. On the left is Curtis Sliwa. The 1981 CBS made-for-TV movie We're Fighting Back, featuring Bronx-born Ellen Barkin, was based on the Guardian Angels. Al Martino - Volare (Disco version) (1976) POACA know this song from multiple recordings and performances by Dean Martin, Conny Francis, Bobby Rydell, The Ames Brothers, Wayne Newton, Barry White, even David Bowie. And here it is in Disco form. From Wikipedia: Franco Migliacci (the composer) began working on the lyrics of the song in June 1957, inspired by two paintings by Marc Chagall. He had planned to go to the sea with Domenico Modugno, but while waiting for Modugno to show up, Migliacci started drinking wine and eventually fell asleep. He had vivid dreams, and when he woke up, he looked at the Chagall paintings (reproductions) on the wall. In "Le coq rouge" was a yellow man suspended in midair, while in "Le peintre et la modelle", half the painter's face was coloured blue. So he began penning a song about a man who dreams of painting himself blue, and being able to fly. Later that same night, Migliacci discussed his lyrics with Modugno, and for several days they worked on the song, tentatively entitled "Sogno in blu" ('Dream in blue'). In 2008, Modugno's widow, Franca Gandolfi, recalled that her husband, after a storm forced open his window, had the idea of modifying the chorus of the song, introducing the word "Volare," which is now the popular title of the song. Blondie - Once I Had A Love (Heart Of Glass) (1978) The Lettermen - The Way You Look Tonight (Disco version) (1976) D. C. (David) LaRue - Do You Want The Real Thing (1978) Read about D. C. LaRue here. He was a dance artist through and through, but that could only take him so far. But I like his voice, the fact that he didn't (or couldn't) fill the songs with grace notes. Pet peeve, that. D. C. LaRue - Don't Keep It in the Shadows (feat. Lou Christie) (1977) This is basically a "You Should Be Dancin’" clone. I love the grunts at the end. Only some are mine. D. C. LaRue - Have A Good Time (feat. Rita Moreno) (1979) Like Michael Franks. A little. Bill Saluga - Dancin’ Johnson (1978) Exile – Heart and Soul (1981) Huge hit for Huey Lewis and the News. Didn't know it was a cover, did ya? Mike Chapman produced "Heart Of Glass" (the hit version you don't hear on this show) "The Tide Is High", "Sunday Girl", "Atomic" and "Rapture" for Blondie, the band of the early '80s. Chinn/Chapman wrote "Kiss You All Over" for this very same Exile, and too many credits to type out here. Free Design - Hurry Sundown (1968) Lou Christie - People (1978) This is a pretty good production for a song that isn't listed in Discogs, Wikipedia, etc. Lou says this was released as a single in 1978, attendant to the short-lived People TV show of the same year. if either of you can find a reference to it, let me know. There's a fin in it for ya. And if you can find the RECORD, so I can buy it, I'll do a "Rasputin" dance on Reels for you. Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan - Street Player (1978) Lou Christie and Pia Zadora - Don't Knock My Love (1980) Cover of Wilson Pickett's last Top 20 song, from 1971. What an odd choice of cover. I love Lou, but between him and Pia, they didn't possess any soul or chemistry whatsoever. Lou Christie - Clouds of Rock Roll On (?) I just know it was before his 2nd (and pretty needless) Greatest Hits album in 1994. Ah, record companies. Is there anything they can't make artists do? Ivan Dixon - Shoo Shoo Baby (1966) POACA recall a top-rated TV show from the '60s called Hogan's Heroes. It was a heart-warming (if somewhat flat) arc about a bunch of American POWs in Germany during WW2, constantly befuddling, bedeviling, and flummoxing the oblivious Colonel Klink and the lovable Sgt. Schultz, while American and Russian soldiers scythed their way through Europe, trying to close the circle in the city of Berlin in a seemingly endless Bacchanalian traveling parade of rape, destruction, desecration, and madness. And don't get me started on the Germans. Aaaaannnnnnyhow, this was from the album made by the cast, which included Richard Dawson (high on goofballs in this picture), who parlayed his place in that ensemble to star in Match Game '74 and Family Feud, but began his recording career in earnest by recording "Apples and Oranges." Ivan Dixon had an even smaller role, but his performance shines. By comparison. I...guess? Suggested by Dan Lewis. He LOVES Nazi silverware. And dolls. Lou Christie - Spanish Wine (1977) Stephen Tom Electronic Tape Experiment (1978) Stephen Tom produced groundbreaking electronic music during the post-war years until the late 1970s. He passed away practically ignored by his peers in 1984. Very little is known about him other than that he was a radio engineer during the blitz of London and that he freelanced for Benson Fairlight at his Little Venice studios producing jingles for radio + TV advertisements. A single reel of Tom's electronic experiments was found in a box of personal tapes belonging to the composer Cissy Wakefield. The Velvet Underground - Friends (1973) Blondie - Once I Had A Love (aka "The Disco Song") (1975) D. C. LaRue (with Lou Christie) - Into The Ozone (1980)

Hello, My name is Travis Myers and this is the Hometown Hollywood Podcast. Today’s guest is John Paul Summers, a director, and cinematographer from Abbeville Louisiana. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know JP over the past year or two. He’s a genuine, down to earth guy and I consider him one of my mentors whether he knows it or not. He’s known for his work on a Paul McCartney Music video, the best satellite college commercial ever created (his LSUE ad), his first feature ‘Sunday girl’ with Peter Ambrosio, and short films like “Today You, Tomorrow Me” directed by Chris Neal and the short film he directed recently, ‘When it Matters Most’. In this interview, he tells about his experience making his first feature film Sunday Girl, what it means to be an artist, and how to develop connections in the film industry. If you are wanting to get into the film industry or level up where you currently are and need some inspiration, you're going to want to save this podcast so you can reference back to it. Pip Drysdale chats to Dani Vee about her psychological thriller The Sunday Girl, the writing process and the importance of exploring serious issues in literature. The Girl on the Train meets Before I Go to Sleep with a dash of Bridget Jones in this chilling tale of love gone horribly wrong … Some love affairs change you forever. Someone comes into your orbit and swivels you on your axis, like the wind working on a rooftop weather vane. And when they leave, as the wind alway does, you are different; you have a new direction. And it’s not always north.’ Any woman who’s ever been involved with a bad, bad man and been dumped will understand what it feels like to be broken, broken-hearted and bent on revenge. Taylor Bishop is hurt, angry and wants to destroy Angus Hollingsworth in the way he destroyed her: ‘Insidiously. Irreparably. Like a puzzle he’d slowly dissembled … stolen a couple of pieces from, and then discarded, knowing that nobody would ever be able to put it back together ever again.’ So Taylor consults The Art of War and makes a plan. Then she takes the next irrevocable step – one that will change her life forever. Things start to spiral out of her control – and The Sunday Girl becomes impossible to put down.

A Sunday Girl Party in Jordania by Fred Dupont
A parada tá classuda.
This one turned out very nicely, in my opinion. There is a nice mix of fast and slow, sweet and raunchy, hopeful and fucked. My Girl's Retro--great song. I think there is room to make it even greater by covering it as MY GIRL IS HETERO. Chixxdiggit! indeed A Girl Named Spike-- Mike Park and Pickles kicking ass Caught with the meat in your mouth--vegetarian porn star dilemma. Dead Boys still sounding snotty more than 30 years on. You just gotta blow my mind--perfect! cumming right in after "meat in your mouth" The Queers. This is end of the raunchy segment Skinhead Girl--This is so sweet...like the story out of a book... she wore braces and blue jeans. Symarip. I saw Mr. Symarip in Chicago last October and it was epic. Love Song--i'm like a cat, i like to sleep all the time...this is a love song, baby, and it goes out to you... Peacocks. A 3 piece with a stand up bass and great chops. Coming to Cali the first couple weeks in June. I will see them at The Blank Club in San Jose. Girl About Town--wears a different t-shirt everyday...goes out with a boy from the MC5. It'd be ok if he didn't hit her and sleep with the baby sitter. The Queers. Reminds me of Maddy in Chicago only because she put it on her myspace. Did You Have A Nice Life Without Me?--you made plans, I played in a band...did it all turn out the way you wanted it to be? Cock Sparrer. They have been rocking for years, but I just found out about them thanks to Cloverdale Dave. What a sound, and song writing to boot. Sunday Girl--cold as ice cream, but still as sweet...hurry up hurry up and wait...looks like he's in another world...please cum and see what you do to me, I got the blues. Blondie. The world's biggest band that didn't totally suck in 1979. Not just new wave. They paid their dues and were punker than you. Hey, Little Rich Girl--he's taken your freedom for a place unknown...hey little rich girl, where did you go wrong? You were a rich girl only having fun...The Specials. A great story and the music just perks along behind it and then in front. Rudi Wedding--rudy, rudy, rudy, rudy, rudy, have your heard the latest news.. rudy got married... in a pork pie hat and a black cravat...it was a jagger jagger wedding for a jagger jagger man...you should have seen all the rude boys run! Laurel Aitken. I never saw him. What a giant. His vocals are wonderful and about halfway through there is some fine sax and then a couple of trombone passages towards the end. Little Things--he knows the little things, the little things, they mean a lot...you see a kind man, take a step to help his fellow man...Deal's Gone Bad. It just moves along, not too fast, not too slow, then it comes back to that simple little keyboard line, and if you know the song and have had enough to drink you start to tear up. Finishes off dub-ish and perfect. Little Girl-- you don't know me I'm an ordinary guy...I don't know your name and such, and I'd like to know so much...I see you every time...and I want to make you mine... you're sending shivers down my spine...now that I've seen you smile, I'm happy for a little while...you know I try to make it true. Dr. Ring-Ding & The Senior Allstars. Saw da Doktor in Chicago on the same trip as mentioned above. He was great. This song is so sweet and honest. So... Adam and Donelle-- this episode is for you. I hope it brings a smile to your lips, and just maybe a tear to your eye. I wish the best for you. And I'll see you down front! love, Miles
