This episode aired before the death of one of coon hunting's most successful and most colorful ambassadors. I hope you enjoy this replay from November of 2022. This episode takes us to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas to visit with coon hunting legend Junior Lasseter. At 73 years of age, Junior had amazing recall of events that led him from the Ozark hills to the major stages of competitive coon hunting, in the woods and on the bench. At one time in coon hunting history, there were many commercial coonhound and combination dog kennels operating out of the Ozarks. Ads appeared in the classified sections of not only the tree dog publications but in major outdoor magazines as well. Writers like Wilson Rawls created a narrative that the Ozarks were the cradle of coon hunting in America. Lasseter's stories emanate from the same root and place him as the perfect visitant to the Gone To The Dogs microphone. Lasseter has owned National Champions on the bench in both the UKC, PKC and ACHA registries and has a final four appearance in the UKC World Championship to his credit. He's the first, and perhaps only handler to win a pickup truck showing hounds. Lasseter's hounds like Table Rock Flying Hawk, Table Rock Mundo, Jr., Biggerstaff's Little Buck, and Morgan's Tree Jamming Mundar fill the conversations in this episode. Lasseter was known far and wide in the 80's when Steve began his career at the UKC registry. This episode is smothered with Ozark flavor, like cathead biscuits under a blanket of fried squirrel gravy. You'll enjoy Junior's stories. You'll want to follow them to the source, and you will, where mountain music echoes off the ridges and swells up from the cold stream hollers of tree dog country. It's all right here so, enjoy! We would like to thank those who support this podcast. Special thanks to Alpha Dog Nutrition and Double U Hunting Supply for sponsoring this episode. I denne POVcast er Jørgen Klubien gæst. For anden gang i POV Mediano Musics femårige historie.

(Original Airdate - October 9th, 2019) A Bug's Life is a 1998 American computer-animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures as its second feature-length film, following Toy Story (1995). Directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Andrew Stanton from a screenplay written by Stanton, Donald McEnery and Bob Shaw and a story conceived by Lasseter, Stanton and Joe Ranft, the film stars the voices of Dave Foley, Kevin Spacey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. In the film, a misfit ant named Flik, looks for "tough warriors" to save his ant colony from a protection racket run by a gang of grasshoppers. Unfortunately, the "warriors" he brings back turn out to be an inept troupe of Circus Bugs. The film's plot was initially inspired by Aesop's fable The Ant and the Grasshopper.[3][4] Production on A Bug's Life began shortly after the release of Toy Story in 1995. The ants in the film were redesigned to be more appealing, and Pixar's animation unit employed technical innovations in computer animation. Randy Newman composed the music for the film. During production, a controversial public feud erupted between Steve Jobs and Lasseter of Pixar and DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg due to the parallel production of his similar film Antz, which was released the same year. The film was released worldwide on November 20, 1998, received positive reviews and became a commercial success, having grossed $363 million at the box office. It was the first film to be digitally transferred frame-by-frame and released on DVD, and has been released multiple times on home video. POEM-- "What is the meaning of A Bug's Life? Is it working hard or avoiding strife? Flick lives his on the edge of a scythe while trying to impress and gain a princess wife." -Spro LIMERICK-- "There once was an ant named Flick Conformity, it made him so sick So, he took a stand with his feet in the sand And told the grasshoppers just what they could stick [up their asses.]" -MC

Released during a period with increased competition from rival studios, Meet the Robinsons marks a transitional period in Disney's approach to animated feature films. The company had just bought Pixar and appointed John Lasseter as chief creative officer. Meet the Robinsons was already nearing completion when this occurred, but Lasseter had at least 60% of the film redone before it debuted in theaters to mild critical response and disappointing box office. While frequently written off as a minor entry in the Disney catalog, the massive size and reach of the Mouse ensured that Meet the Robinsons was nonetheless seen by thousands of people. It would unavoidably become the beloved childhood favorite of a plurality of Gen Z people, one of whom joins Ryan and Rachel to talk about how and why. Kate, making her debut here, waxes nostalgic about how Meet the Robinsons affected her collegiate career and her time working at Disney parks as a young adult. Ryan talks about how Meet the Robinsons could potentially play into the sweeping long term plans of the Disney oligarchy. Disney, after all, has a long history of flops gradually attaining cult status and eventually getting reappraised into classic status. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ryan-valentine3/support

Greg and Justin sit down with Benjamin Lasseter of Design Ecology, an award-winning landscape architecture and luxury pool design/build firm based in Austin, Texas.Listen in as Ben gives his thoughts on the state of the pool building space in Austin. He runs through his pool building process, from the design phase to the specialized trades that come in, and his passion for incorporating water elements into his designs.Ben also discusses his journey from graduating with a political science degree to his foray into the pool business, eventually meeting Scott Cummings who would become co-owner of Design Ecology. They built their success in the industry by consistently standing by their philosophy of being generous with his knowledge, resulting over time in a loyal client base.Asked about Design Ecology's unique process to pool building, Ben talks about why he's partial to perimeter overflows and why he prefers a minimal contemporary style over free-form pools. Plus, we touch on considerations regarding skimmer bottoms and dealing with flooded gutters, building surge tanks, plumbing, as well as how to plan in advance for minimal noise from the overflow.Sponsors:Jandy SpeedSet Variable-Speed Pump Controller Lyon Financial Connect with Guest:Design Ecology Website Instagram Facebook Connect with Pool Chasers:Website Instagram Facebook YouTube Twitter Pinterest TikTok Patreon

Kaya, welcome to The Curb podcast. My name is Andrew Peirce and this podcast is recorded in Boorloo, Western Australia. It's been a while between drinks for this audio podcast, and I'm proud to jump back in with a fascinating discussion with composer and filmmaker Ashley Davies in relation to his new film, album, and art exhibition entitled Gold. Gold is an album that is inspired by Ashley's uncle, Len Davies, an artist who upon his death left a legacy of over 500 paintings to be distributed amongst his family. Ashley chose ‘The Lasseter series', a group of paintings that told the tale of Lasseter's Reef, the tale of Harold Bell Lasseter as he headed into Central Australia to search for a 15 k gold reef. The series of paintings, and Ashley's score itself, reflect Lasseter's fateful journey that resulted with his reputation tarnished and his death. Len Davies paintings work as a counterpoint to those legends, presenting Lasseter's journey and death as a radiant, beautiful one. In the following interview, Ashley talks about Len's time during the war, which is further detailed in an impressive article by Claire Hunter on the Australian War Memorial website. Ashley also talks about the presentation of Gold at the Sun Theatre in Victoria, on November 30, and what audiences will encounter when they watch the half hour film and witness the paintings after the screening. Tickets are available on the Sun Theatre website. The link will be available in the show notes. For previous episodes of The Curb podcast, head over to TheCurb.com.au. First up here we talk with Darren L. Downs and Will Weatheritt, about their webseries Flats. FLATS is a 6-part comedy series launched Thursday 10th November on ‘Slap Bang' YouTube Channel. It stars real residents of inner-city Melbourne's community housing in their first acting roles. FLATS is written and directed by the team of Darren L. Downs and Will Weatheritt, who also stars in the series as ‘Joey'. Will has been a part of this community for years, working in their local supermarket and living close by. Second we talk with Australian composer Ashley Davies here about his upcoming film screening and exhibition at Sun Cinema of Gold. GOLD is a unique, animated musical creation inspired by a series of 10 watercolour paintings left in a will from a family's favourite Uncle. These paintings are based on the story of Lasseter's Reef which became Australian folklore during the Great Depression. Harold Lasseter was on a journey to find a 15km gold reef in the most remote part of Central Aus. He encountered many obstacles on his journey, was eventually labelled a liar and was ultimately left in the desert to fend for himself, where he eventually died. However, Uncle Len's paintings present a contrary perspective of the story. The watercolours highlight the beauty in Lasseter's journey and even portray his death as radiant.
This episode takes us to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas to visit with coon hunting legend Junior Lasseter. At 73 years of age, Junior has amazing recall of events that led him from the Ozark hills to the major stages of competitive coon hunting, in the woods and on the bench.
