April 2, 2025—dubbed “Liberation Day” by Donald Trump—new sweeping tariffs were announced, including a 10% baseline on all imports and steep country-specific increases. But is this protectionist move really the start of an American economic revival, or just a massive tax hike on American families? Chris Spangle is joined by Aiden Grogan, a writer and Ph.D. student at Liberty University, to examine the economic consequences of tariffs, the myths of protectionism, and the real reasons manufacturing is returning to the U.S. Tariffs Won't Bring On the "Golden Age of America" - https://www.realclearmarkets.com/articles/2025/02/25/tariffs_wont_create_the_golden_age_of_america_1093222.html#google_vignette https://youtu.be/3W4tjgD-1XI Learn more about your ad choices. (SEASON 3 EP 27 - THE RENAISSANCE) For the first time on Country with Celine we went backstage and picked at the brains of two producers. Dan Botch and Garrett Ward aka ‘The Renaissance'. The duo have been taking the country music scene by storm, producing hits like ‘Bring On' Zach McPhee, ‘What If I' Annika Catharina & ‘The First One' Kurtis Hagen.  So If you hear a catchy tune, chances are these guys are behind it. But the two weren't always producers, they were actually in a band called 'The Faceplants' appearing on Canadian reality show The Launch.  Find out how they made the transition from performing on stage to producing songs for other artists, what they miss/don't miss about it, the components of what makes a song a hit and working with artists who are not local. Listen here to find everything you need to know about Dan & Garrett.  PS: we played a game at the end and something got roasted, can you guess who? A musical standup comedian with appearances on Last Comic Standing and NBC's Bring On the Funny. Kristin has six full-length comedy albums and her own Dry Bar Comedy Special. Kristin grew up a minister's daughter in a small town in West Texas. Much like Footloose, she was raised in a no-drinking, no-dancing, no instrumental music environment, so she immediately took up drinking, dancing and playing an instrument. Proving that the almighty has a strange sense of humor, Kristin came out of the closet at age 15. Needless to say, it did not go well. Kristin decided to “take it back”, retreating back into the closet, and trying a little harder to be straight. In college to become a paramedic she signed up for an open mic night at a local comedy club. As soon as she got on the stage, she felt right at home. Small shows in the Texas panhandle eventually turned into 35 states worth of comedy over the next 5 years. When Last Comic Standing held their auditions in Austin, Texas, Key stood in line hoping for a chance to be seen. After a 7 hour wait, she got that chance as well as her ticket to Hollywood to compete with the best in the comedy world. At the end of the season, she stood among the final six and watched as her fan base exploded. With validation from millions of comedy fans, Kristin moved to L.A. and began preparing a new act to take on the road. While participating in an anti-bullying fundraiser, she broke her silence and decided to share her hilarious story of coming out, taking it back, living in the closet, and meeting her wife. After 15 years of comedy, Kristin has found a way to perfectly blend her thought provoking true stories and her original songs with outrageous off-the-cuff improv moments, ensuring that no two shows are the same. Her social media videos have over 25 million views and Kristin has over 275,00 followers. She hosts the Kristin Knows Blank podcast.

Bring On the B Word (Airdate 1/31/2022) Are you a person who cheerfully sacrifices your own happiness, comfort, well-being, and peace for others? A person who focuses more on pleasing a partner or meeting their needs than taking care of your own? You might be codependent - and welcome to the club. We sure know how that is. Bob kicks off this episode by wondering how differently life might have turned out had he been just a little bit healthier emotionally. Caring deeply about others is a beautiful thing - until that caring becomes distorted and controlling and leaves you seething with resentment and anxiety. It's a lifelong habit that you learned really early. But does that mean you're stuck being a people-pleasing doormat? Nope. There's hope - and it all starts with the biggest B word of all.  https://youtu.be/62I5Ayra7GM The Bob & Sheri Oddcast: Everything We Don't, Can't, Won't, and Definitely Shouldn't Do on the Show!

In a sea of cyber-d*ck jokes and nerds triggering one another to rant, this episode contains a more serious look at the urgency of understanding just how we're manipulated in social media. ‘Verse-y author/editor Vickie Willis Navarra returns at long last (my bad, sorry) to try and help me over my growing Season 7 apathy as we begin our slow, tortured crawl to the finish line. Episode 710, “Bring On the Night” is the first appearance of Kennedy and the final appearance of Joyce. So yeah. It’s also the beginning of the interminable Buffy Speechifying(™). Sooo...yeeeeeeeah. And in 711, “Showtime,” Buffy welcomes Potential Slayer Rona to the Hellmouth, we get some charmingly awful rubber monster practical effects, and I defend the cool (and previously established) Willow-telepathically-links-the-Scoobies trick.   BONUS: I begin in earnest to dunk on The First as the most ridiculously inconsistent and ineffectual Big Bad of the entire series. Good times.   Next: author and Philosophy Professor James Rocha returns to help me make sense of episodes 712, “Potential,” 713, “The Killer In Me,” and 714, “First Date.”     THE BREAKDOWN Run Time: 01:44:09 00:00:55  -  Intro / Guest 00:10:04  -  Main Topic 01:38:45  -  Outro / Next     THE LIBRARY Reading Joss Whedon (Television and Popular Culture), edited by Rhonda V. You are welcome! On a more edifying note, break ups and the scuppering of a romantic subplot in fantasy and scifi can be a great way to through up obstacles in a main plot or even nudge it in a new direction. Clara Amfo is a radio and TV broadcaster best known for her work on BBC Radio 1, (she currently presents Radio 1's infamous Live Lounge). On the 7th March, 2015, Clara's dad's life was cut short by a sudden and unexpected heart attack. He was in Ghana attending a funeral at the time. Clara - who was in Paris about to run the half marathon - had to put her life on pause and get back home to her family. Feeling overwhelmed and craving escapism, Clara threw herself into her new role as BBC Radio 1's Official Chart show and unhealthy romantic relationships. Eventually, however, grief caught up with her and she had to face what had happened, and how that felt. In this episode we talk all things death, grief, work, loss, relationships and...daddy issues! Next week the band will be releasing their highly anticipated Bring on the Music live at the Capitol Theatre package in various CD and DVD packages. You can check out all the configurations at mule.net. Aside from front man and guitar wizard Warren Haynes, Gov’t Mule is made up of 3 other extremely talented musicians including founding member Matt Abts on drums, Jorgensen Carlsson on bass, and keyboard and frankly multi-instrumentalist Danny Louis. Together this quartet makes genre and mind bending music rooted in blues, hard rock and Americana. Our affinity for this band has been well documented, and we’ve been on the Mule train since day one. So with the release of Bring On the Music forthcoming we thought it would be fun to talk to Danny Louis about not just this awesome musical package, but also about life in Gov’t Mule more generally and indeed the intangible ingredients he brings to the table. Aug. 30, 2014. Susan Stockdale appears at the 2014 Library of Congress National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. Speaker Biography: Susan Stockdale's relationship with colorful scenes started with the early inspiration of the greens and vegetation she was surrounded by during her childhood in Florida and Ireland. Her love of words was influenced by the rhythmic teachings of her poet mother. Her passions continued as she majored in art at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Now an author and illustrator, Stockdale specializes in picture books about nature, including "Some Sleep Standing Up," "Carry Me!" "Fabulous Fishes" and "Bring On the Birds." She has been recognized by awards from the American Library Association, Parents' Choice, the National Science Teachers Association and Bank Street College of Education. Her newest picture book, "Stripes of All Types/Rayas de todas las tallas" (Peachtree), gives young readers rhythmic, colorful facts about the many reasons stripes are found in nature; as an educational component, the book's glossary offers more in-depth explanations about each featured animal. After an uneventful night here in Fulton County, the rain has subsided.  Happily, there are no tornados to report but we did get a lot of lightning and thunder.  Several areas reported high winds and hail, but we were spared mother natures wrath.  Seems to me when I posted last year's Spring Edition, we had similar circumstances.  Though at that time there was a tornado downtown and you could see it on TV.  The warning sirens went off to take cover, but Rick and I just sat there and watched it all unfold on the tube.  Of course, it was a couple of miles away, so we didn't have cause for concern despite the loud sirens.  Thankfully nothing happened this go around so I can bring you the second installment. This set is jam-packed with some smoking hot tunes.  I've got to say that Yoko Ono has become quite the club diva.  It seems that ever since the classic "Walking On Thin Ice" was fabulously remixed by Danny Tenaglia (among several others) we have been treated to a new mix at least once a year.  I don't know what it is about her since she never sold records amounting to anything and let's face it, she can't sing.  Nevertheless, the minute a DJ gets a hold on one of her songs, they somehow manage to work miracles.  The Craig C (not to be confused with Craig J which I often do) mix is smoldering.  We also get a follow-up to last years re-work of "Hot Shot" by Karen Young titled "Rendezvous With Me".  As many of you know, Karen had a number one disco hit in 1978 with the latter and the story behind this song was that it was supposed to be the follow-up, but was never released.  Instead, they released a track called "Bring On the Boys" which no doubt may end up being re-worked as well.  In the meantime, MaxRoxx ripped this puppy apart with the original vocals intact.  Just listen and you'll be blown away by how magnificent of a singer Karen really was.  Equally exciting is Razor 'n' Guido's return to the scene.  I was all excited last year when the unauthorized remix of Britney's "Break the Ice" surfaced by the duo.  It didn't just signal a return, but a return to true form.  These guys know how to rock it out and "Get Up Stand Up" proves it.  I expect more great things from them this year.  Finally, I've got the Tony Moran remix of Utada's "Come Back To Me".  You might remember the equally hot Seamus Haji mix I used in my last BPM edition.  To me, this reminds me a great deal of what Tony did with Rihanna's "Unfaithful" a few years back.  Re-working a ballad for the floor can be daunting, but doesn't have to be, and this song proves it.  In fact, I'd say it works in spades. Right now, I just need to get out and move around.  The sun broke through temporarily this morning, but we're now back in clouds with somewhat cooler temps.  I hope everyone's having fun this holiday weekend.  I'll be back tomorrow with the final take on spring.  Until then.enjoy!
