Toyota's 4Runner has built a legacy on its off-road chops, and its off-road aesthetic. You're just as likely to see a 4Runner running through a trail as you are handling the tough task of school pickup duty. However, with the fifth-generation 4Runner launching all the way back in 2009, there was only so much the Toyota could do to keep it updated enough to please the soft-road enthusiasts. Well, Toyota fixed that by rolling out the sixth-gen 4Runner for the 2025 model year and bringing some serious quality-of-life updates – for a cost. The '25 4Runner packs the modern Toyota interior, which comes with a large touchscreen and plenty of tech. Toyota also stuffed its i-Force Max hybrid powertrain under the hoods, which blends a turbocharged 2.4-liter I4 with a hybrid system to net 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Powering base-model 4Runners is a turbocharged 2.4-liter I4 without the hybrid help that makes 278 hp and 317 lb-ft. Both powertrains work through an eight-speed transmission. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the latest 4Runner and highlights some of the changes and his favorite features. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Patrick Carone about the 4Runner, how it compares to the latest Toyota Landcruiser, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 4Runner special.
When tonight's guest, Jimmy Toungate, had his first Sasquatch-related experience, in Mount Baker, Washington, he was lying in a rooftop tent, on the roof of his Toyota 4Runner. You see, he had been overlanding, at the time, and was about 30 miles from the nearest paved road. Around 12:30 that night, Jimmy was jarred awake by the sound of bipedal footsteps that were approaching his rig. After hearing those footsteps, he sat up and listened... Welcome to Episode 63! This week, Nick recounts his time with the 2025 BMW M5 Touring last week, a highly anticipated car that simultaneously blends in and attracts way too much attention from a certain demographic. Meanwhile, Nathan spent some quality time thrashing the 2025 Volkswagen GTI and Golf R on the track. The stick may be gone, but at least VW threw in some new goodies that used to be exclusive to Europe! And finally, they close out this week's episode with this week's press cars: the 2025 Toyota 4Runner, and the 2025.5 Volvo XC90. Enjoy the show? It's Monday, April 14th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus U.S. missionary abducted at gunpoint while preaching in South Africa Josh Sullivan, a U.S. Baptist missionary, was kidnapped at gunpoint as he preached Thursday evening at Fellowship Baptist Church in Motherwell, South Africa, reports International Christian Concern. According to police, four masked gunmen entered the church late last night during a prayer meeting with about 30 attendees. The assailants stole two cell phones before abducting the 45-year-old pastor and taking him in his own vehicle, a silver Toyota 4Runner. The car was later found abandoned about a mile from the church. A husband and father of six, Sullivan has been a missionary in South Africa since 2018. Sullivan and his family are members of Fellowship Baptist Church, an independent Baptist church in Maryville, Tennessee, where Sullivan has been on staff. His wife and children are among those who witnessed the kidnapping. Here at The Worldview, we're reminded of the inspiring words of Christ following Peter's bold affirmation. In Caesarea Phillipi, Peter said that Christ was “the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” That's when Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, that upon that revelation, He would build His church, and “the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Join me and pray that the Lord would honor Josh Sullivan's preaching and safely restore him to his family. China raises duties on US goods to 125% Last Friday, China hiked its tariffs on imports of U.S. goods to 125%, hitting back at Donald Trump's decision to single out the world's No.2 economy for higher duties, while dismissing the U.S. president's tariff strategy as "a joke," reports Reuters. Investors had been waiting to see how Beijing would respond to Trump's move on Wednesday to effectively raise tariffs on Chinese goods to 145% while announcing a 90-day pause on tariffs on dozens of other countries' goods. Last year, China purchased $150 billion of U.S. goods. White House Press Secretary prays to Jesus before briefing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is the youngest person to ever serve the president in that capacity at the age of 27. Not only is she an articulate champion for President Donald Trump and the “Make America Great Again” agenda, but she is also an unashamed follower of Jesus Christ. Listen to this simple, powerful, and unapologetic prayer to her Savior just moments before she walks into the lions' den of the White House Press Briefing. LEAVITT: “Lord Jesus, please give us the strength, the knowledge, the ability to articulate our words, have fun, and be confident. In Jesus' name, Amen.” Gone are the days that a lesbian God-hater stands at that podium. Judge: Columbia University activist Mahmoud Khalil can be deported Last Friday, an immigration judge in Louisiana ruled that Columbia University graduate student Mahmoud Khalil can be deported from America because he is a national security risk following his pro-Hamas demonstrations at Columbia, reports the Associated Press. Immigration Judge Jamee Comans gave the green light to the Trump administration's desire to deport Khalil. Without such deportation, the government contended that his presence posed “potentially serious foreign policy consequences.” Colorado Governor signs anti-gun law Democratic Colorado Governor Jared Polis, a self-professed homosexual who has entered into a faux marriage with his “husband,” has dealt a heavy blow to Coloradans' Second Amendment freedom by signing Senate Bill 3 into law, reports the Colorado State Shooting Association. This oppressive permit-to-purchase scheme is a direct attack on their Second Amendment rights, afflicting Coloradans with bureaucratic hurdles to block their God-given liberties, President George Washington declared, “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference—they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.” RFK, Jr vows to know causes of autism epidemic by September As he sat in Trump's Cabinet meeting, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke to the autism epidemic and what he proposed to do about it. KENNEDY: “The autism rates have gone from one in 31 from one in 10,000 when I was a kid. At your direction, by September, we will know what has caused the autism epidemic.” Kennedy noted that HHS has “launched a massive testing and research effort that's going to involve hundreds of scientists from around the world.” Once they have identified the causes, hopefully by September, HHS will advocate for the elimination of those exposures. Libraries partner with Planned Parenthood to offer free sex health resources And finally, if you thought the library was a place to borrow books for a research paper or read the local daily paper, think again! Twelve Sacramento, California Public Libraries now feature “sexual health resource cabinets” inside public libraries to give the public, including children, access to items like condoms, Sexually Transmitted Diseases tests, and pregnancy tests, reports CBS News. These cabinets are being stocked by none other than Planned Parenthood, America's Abortion Giant, which killed 392,715 pre-born babies in 2023 alone. In fact, QR codes on the free literature not only enables library patrons to easily find their local Planned Parenthood affiliate, but also to get their immoral worldview through their God-forsaken website. Michael Reed, a parent, was disturbed by the easy access to the sexual health resource cabinets, especially for kids. REED: “It's a little shocking. It seems a little inappropriate just to target children that way.” But Todd Deck, the community engagement services manager for Sacramento Public Libraries, thought the libraries were doing something wonderfully noble. DECK: "We want to remove the stigma around these resources. Libraries are essential to healthy, thriving communities. So, having resources that are of interest and needs of that community is really critical. I do believe it is our responsibility to help have an informed community regardless of the topic -- that way people can make informed decisions about their health." Greg Burt, Vice President of the California Family Council, rejected the librarian's absurd worldview. BURT: “Now parents would have to be concerned. Instead of coming back with a book, they're going to come back with a condom. “This is really about cutting parents out. It's about sexualizing our kids at younger and younger ages.” In Matthew 18:6, Jesus said, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Not surprisingly, the cabinets have been re-stocked multiple times since being installed six weeks ago as they have been set up both in the library's main hub and in the adult section. Elizabeth Johnston, a Christian mother of 10, is not surprised by the hostility to a Judeo-Christian worldview at the library. The American Library Association's one-time president Emily Drabinski, who served from July 2022 to 2024, was a self-avowed “Marxist lesbian.” She wrote a paper on “queering the catalogue” and said wildly inflammatory things about parents who do not want their children to read sexually inappropriate literature. So, keep in mind, the library is no friend of the family. Enter with caution. Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, April 14th, in the year of our Lord 2025. The 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona and the 2025 Polestar 3 Launch Edition are two of the quickest vehicles we've ever road-tested. Their sizzling 0-60-mile-per-hour times might also set your hair on fire. Yet, as quick as those two battery-electrics and as technologically savvy as they are, they are very different. That's what co-host Matt DeLorenzo and host Jack Nerad discovered as they tested the two vehicles this week. The 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona is a bold, all-electric muscle car featuring a sleek, aerodynamic design and cutting-edge technology. Built on Dodge's new STLA Large platform, it delivers up to 670 horsepower in its top performance trim, which allows the Daytona to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just about 3 seconds. That heart-stopping go-power places it among the quickest modern performance cars. Its most controversial feature is the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust that delivers ersatz muscle car sounds, which thrilled one of our hosts and turned off the other. The 2025 Polestar 3 Launch Edition aims to redefine the luxury electric SUV with its minimalist Scandinavian styling, 489 horsepower, 620 lb-ft of torque, and all-wheel drive. Despite weighing over 5,000 pounds, it manages a brisk 0–60 mph time of about 4.5 seconds, helped by active air suspension and torque vectoring. Inside, it offers premium touches like ventilated Nappa leather seats, a panoramic glass roof, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and a slick Android Automotive OS with Google built-in. But is its reliance on the large 14.5-inch touchscreen for most functions distracting? Is its $88,100 price with options just too high? And will it be the victim of Chinese tariffs? Matt and Jack will have the answers. We have two great guests for you this week. Danielle Livingston is a marketing expert, and Jake Robin is a product expert on the brand-new Toyota 4Runner. Jack Nerad had a chance to chat with them recently about that very cool new SUV, so we're sure you'll enjoy what they have to say. We have an EV expert with us this week, so it's appropriate that we look at the current state of EVs in the United States and where the market might be headed. J.D. Power's E-Vision report is the source of our conversation starters. Of course, tariffs in the auto industry continue to grab headlines. Again this week, with veteran industry reporter Matt DeLorenzo aboard, we'll tell you what is real and what is hype and give you thoughts on how you should proceed if you're planning to buy a car. So we have tons of show for you this week. Jack Nerad's newest book Jack is now offering his newest crime novel, Only One Thing Stays the Same, at a pre-publication price of just $4.99. Jill and Tom open the show covering a few news stories. First, Toyota is claiming it will have a solid-state EV battery in a production vehicle around 2030. Could be big news in regard to EV price and range. Listen in for details. The hosts went on to discuss Mercedes-Benz's new turquoise marker- and tail lights. Why are they doing this? Listen in. Still in the first segment, Jill shared details of a story she wrote about how the similar-size Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser crossovers differ. Clue: One is more family friendly than the other. In the second segment, Jill and Tom welcome Sam Fiorani of AutoForecast Solutions to the show. Sam walked the hosts through the headwinds faced by the auto industry as a result of the current administration's tariff plans. Sam also discussed Tesla's plant capacity situation, which may be most acute in Europe, where the company recently opened a new manufacturing facility. In the last segment, Jill is tormented by Tom's “Pontiac or Oldsmobile?” quiz, and the hosts talk a little about Polestar, a new EV brand with Volvo roots.

Shoot us a Text. The auto industry breathed a sigh of relief yesterday as it was announced that they will be exempt from the 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods. Plus, we're looking at the cars that hold their value the best, and Google's push towards AI search.Show Notes with links:The auto industry is temporarily relieved by a one-month exemption from the 25% tariffs on vehicles covered by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). President Trump granted the reprieve following requests from Ford, GM, and Stellantis, with the ultimate goal of shifting production to the U.S.The automotive provisions of the USMCA require that 75% of a vehicle's components be made in North America (up from 62.5% under NAFTA) to qualify for zero tariffs, and mandate that 40-45% of auto parts be made by workers earning at least $16 per hour, aiming to boost North American production and labor standards. Most automotive manufacturers comply with USMCA standards and The American Automotive Policy Council and automakers expressed gratitude for the temporary exemption.Suppliers remain concerned about long-term impacts, despite positive signs for USMCA-compliant parts.Dealers and industry experts view the exemption as part of a broader strategy to encourage domestic manufacturing, but uncertainty persists.“The damage has already been done. In Podcast #347, Jessica Ray subs in for John Davis as host and her and the MotorWeek crew discuss a few of the latest hybrids we've driven. We touch on our recent track time in the all-new V12 powered plug-in Lamborghini Revuelto. Then it's off the track and onto the trail with a first drive in the completely revamped Toyota 4Runner. And we'll recap Subaru's latest unveilings from the Chicago Auto Show. Plus, our Lightning Round touches on the hackability of modern cars and a viewer has a question about if we have experienced more impatient drivers than usual.
Off-road vehicles are rolling off assembly lines in record numbers, and this week, we take long looks at two of the top new entrants in the high-stakes segment. The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT 2.5T AWD was a finalist in the North American Utility of the Year competition, and Host Jack Nerad took a long second look at it this week. Powered by a robust 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, the XRT test vehicle had the looks of a genuine all-terrain vehicle. It also offers superior versatility. Its seven-passenger cabin includes flexible three-row seating and voluminous cargo space. On the tech front, it features dual 12.3-inch infotainment and driver information displays, Bluetooth hands-free technology, wireless phone charging capabilities, and an impressive array of advanced driver assistance systems. Potential buyers probably have several questions about the Santa Fe XRT: How is the third-row seating? Does the base engine have enough power? How does it perform on and off the road? We'll answer all of those and more soon. Our special guest, Toyota's Warren Chou, is the expert on the other all-terrain vehicle we are looking into this week. He is chief engineer of the all-new 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Jack Nerad sat down with him for a detailed discussion about the new SUV at a recent Toyota-sponsored event, and we're sure you'll be interested in what he has to say. We expect you will also be interested in what Guest Co-Host Matt DeLorenzo has to say about the 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV. A longtime auto expert and the author of How to Buy an Affordable Electric Car, Matt knows everything there is to know about plug-in vehicles. He will have a comprehensive report on the CX-90 plug-in hybrid for you. There is plenty of important news to chew on this week: • Potential new tariffs have the auto industry up in arms, but it might be a tempest in a teapot. • General Motors has reasserted its commitment to electrified vehicles, and it has announced new initiatives to incorporate EVs into consumers' homes. • The Scout brand is coming back but now it is engaged in a controversy with the state where it will build its vehicles about selling them there. • Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Ram, is undergoing a major organizational change, and that could mean less expensive vehicles in your future. Listener Question of the Week “I heard a rumor that the government is planning to end the $7500 tax credit on electric vehicle purchases? Is that true? Sir Will is an awesome character. He lives out his Toyota 4Runner and travels the country enjoying his freedom. "Sir William Goes". We caught up with Sir William at AZ Toy Pros on a Sunday afternoon MOD Day. It's always a good time getting to know someone wrenching on trucks and stuffing our faces with Mexican food. The hosts opened the show by acknowledging the birthday of one of the program's most-loyal fans, Tom's mom. Tom briefly noted the new administration's enactment of tariffs on both Canada and Mexico. Tom shared his concern that any long-term disruption of regular free trade between North American nations would critically wound the American auto industry. Tom talked briefly about his time in the 2025 Ford Explorer ST. He's mostly impressed, but has one complaint. Still in the first segment, Jill shared her impressions of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner. The redesigned midsize SUV is an important part of the Toyota U.S.-market lineup. Listen in to hear Jill's impressions. In the second segment, Jill and Tom are joined by James McCay of CompareTheMarket.com.au. The Australian-based insurance-comparison website recently shared research on the most-searched for brands online. James walked the hosts through the most-popular carmakers in Australia, the U.S., Mexico, China, Russia, Africa, and Western Europe. Listen in for all the details. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Ford Ranger or Porsche 911?” quiz. Listen in to see how she fared.

Few off-roaders have the pedigree of the Toyota 4Runner, so when Toyota had us to be among the first to drive it on- and off-road, we jumped at the chance. The sixth-generation 4Runner will be available in nine different grades, including the first-ever Trailhunter and Platinum trims, and host Jack Nerad just drove virtually all of them in an event held outside San Diego, California. The vehicle is based on Toyota's tough TNGA-F global platform, which also supports the Tacoma, Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia. It includes a three-row, seven-passenger version, improved safety and infotainment features, and two new engine/drivetrain options. Prices range from $40,770 for the SR5 trim level to $66,900 for the TRD Pro I-Force Max hybrid. Nerad's road test this week takes a close look at an important trim — the TRD Off-Road Premium equipped with the iForce Max hybrid powertrain. The price as-tested for the vehicle was $59,420, and we'll have all the details for you in this episode. Across the country, Co-Host Chris Teague got behind the wheel of the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse with the Z71 package. Those who have spent a lot of time in the midsize Chevy crossover SUV see it as a good suburban grocery-getter and child transporter. But in Z71 trim, does it have the chops to become a genuine off-roader? Teague and Nerad will offer their opinions. This week we have a terrific guest for you. Alison Rahm is Chief Engineer on the all-new Jeep Wagoneer S, the brand's first battery-electric vehicle. Jack Nerad had a chance to sit down with her recently to discuss all the details regarding this exciting new vehicle in the midst of driving it himself. She shared the entire philosophy behind the groundbreaking vehicle, and we're sure you'll enjoy what she has to say. In this week's news segment, there are breaking stories that will change the trajectory of the auto industry and affect what vehicles might eventually land in your driveway. The new Administration is studying a rollback in fuel economy standards for new vehicles, and that might prove to be make-or-break for many of the world's car companies. We'll have the details. The proposed merger of Honda and Nissan has run into a roadblock. We'll tell which company is balking at the move and why coming up. Cadillac has introduced its first battery-electric V- performance model, and we'll have all the details. And Honda and Acura have announced a recall of many of its largest SUVs, and we'll tell you about that. Dallas police are investigating after witnesses said a man approached a group of children and attempted to coerce one of them into his SUV. The incident was captured on security footage. Police are asking for the public's help in locating the man, who was driving a white Toyota 4Runner with Texas license plate number THS9209. In other news, Southwest Airlines is getting a run for its money with aggressive activist investor Elliott Investment Management, possibly landing itself in a proxy fight. The hedge fund confirmed Tuesday that it plans to nominate 10 directors to Southwest's 15-person board and call a special meeting allowing shareholders to vote on candidates. Also, to mandate or not to mandate remote workers to return to the office. And When Guy Fieri's Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives spotlighted Fort Worth restaurant Fred's Texas Cafe in 2009, it changed “everything,” said co-owner Quincy Wallace. So when Food Network came calling 15 years later, offering to film Fieri's spinoff TV show Triple D Nation at the nearly 50-year-old Fort Worth restaurant, the answer was an easy yes, Wallace said. The episode, premiering Aug. 23, 2024, is likely to introduce this shabby-chic spot to a new audience once again. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Frequent Hot Rod BBQ guest Ryan Douthit of Driving Sports TV has recently made a significant purchase: the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition, one of today's most coveted SUVs. This latest Land Cruiser marks a complete overhaul after decades of incremental updates. Interestingly, it now positions itself as a direct contender against the upcoming 2025 Toyota 4Runner, sparking curiosity among enthusiasts. Given Ryan's extensive familiarity with both vehicles and his recent feature of the new Land Cruiser on Driving Sports TV, we sought his firsthand impressions to understand just how impressive this new model truly is.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner is the last of its generation, and all indications are it is going to be missed. This week, Host Jack Nerad got a special chance to say goodbye to the old and respected warrior as he took the wheel for the last time before an all-new 2025 model-year 4Runner arrives. While many are excited about the new 4Runner and its equally new turbocharged powerplant, a similar number seem wistful about the passing of the current generation SUV, which has proven itself tough as a month-old bag of jerky. Some of its toughness stems from its venerable normally aspirated V6 engine, which just seems to keep ticking and ticking no matter how old or what obstacles are thrown in its way. Nerad will tell us more about his last hurrah with the 4Runner in this episode. In our other road test this week, Co-Host Chris Teague will put the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek through its paces. While not as fully off-road capable as the 4Runner, it boasts some impressive off-road chops of its own. And despite its new body, it remains powered by the latest version of Subaru's famed boxer engines, another powerplant that has more than proven its worth. Teague will tell us more in the road test segment. This week our special guest is Matt DeLorenzo, author of How To Buy An Affordable Electric Car, a Tightwad's Guide to EV Ownership. An auto expert par excellence, DeLorenzo has been on the show several times before, and he always has an insightful point of view on individual cars and the car industry as a whole. Now, as electric vehicle sales have hit a lull, we'll talk with him about what is likely to end up in your driveway going forward. Will we have an all-electric future as so many have predicted? Or is an industry reset occurring before our eyes? DeLorenzo will give us his well-informed opinions. In the news this week, Jeep has confirmed it will re-launch its Renegade as a battery-electric vehicle for the 2027 model year. And it will have a base price of less than $25,000. We'll tell you more about Jeep's aggressive EV plans. Speaking of EVs, Tesla's Elon Musk will get his $56 billion pay package after all, at least if Tesla Motors' shareholders get their way. Musk has big plans for his Texas-based car company going forward, and we'll have more on that continuing saga. Another continuing saga isn't going nearly as well. Fisker Motors, an EV start-up helmed by car designer turned entrepreneur Henrik Fisker, has officially filed for bankruptcy. If everybody had an Ocean across the USA, then things would be different. But it looks like they won't. In more positive news, BMW has just pulled the curtain away from its all-new 2025 X3 small SUV. We'll have the details and our reactions to its new look. All that and more coming up this week on America on the Road. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

Today is Tuesday, June 4th and Happy 48th Birthday to actress Angelina Jolie. ***06.04.24 – BIRTHDAY – ANGELINA JOLIE*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. BREAK: CUofGA STORY 1: Police Arrest Man Accused of Driving Drunk, Killing Newborn Zachary Scott Williams, a 31-year-old from Douglasville, was arrested for vehicular homicide after causing a crash while driving drunk on December 30, 2023. Williams was speeding at 67 mph in a 35 mph zone on Humphries Hill Road in Austell when he lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a Toyota 4Runner. Eunice Gyasi, a passenger in the 4Runner who was nine months pregnant, gave birth to a baby girl, Evangela Gyasi, who died 28 minutes later due to injuries from the crash. Williams, with a blood alcohol content of 0.156, was booked into Cobb County Jail without bond. STORY 2: Georgia appellate court sets October hearing in Trump's bid to disqualify DA Willis The Georgia Court of Appeals will not hear former President Donald Trump's appeal regarding Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis's role in his election interference case until October. This delay ensures the trial will occur post the November 5 election. Trump's legal team sought Willis's removal due to her past romantic relationship with attorney Nathan Wade, who led the prosecution. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled Willis could stay if Wade resigned, which he did. Trump, indicted last August with 18 others, faces multiple charges across federal and state levels, including a recent New York conviction for falsifying business records. STORY 3: New Agreement Between UWG and GHC for Health Students The University of West Georgia (UWG) and Georgia Highlands College (GHC) have partnered to offer health and wellness students an accelerated path to a Master of Science in Integrative Health and Wellness (MSIHW) degree. This program, approved by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), enables GHC students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Science to take graduate-level courses at UWG during their final undergraduate semester. Successful students will gain automatic admission to the MSIHW program at UWG, preparing them for roles in healthcare teams or community-based programs. This initiative aims to address the growing need for healthcare professionals in the region. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. The second, due to vandalism, released 4,100 gallons into a tributary of the Timber Ridge Branch on June 1. The third, caused by grease, spilled 660 gallons into the same tributary on June 2. Cleanup for all spills involved spreading lime. For further details, contact the Cobb County Water System's Maintenance Division at 770-419-6351. STORY 5: Developer Proposing 5-Story Student Housing Tower Near KSU Landmark Properties, an Athens-based developer, seeks approval to build a five-story, 191-unit apartment building for Kennesaw State University students at 112 Townpark Drive. The gated complex will feature a parking deck with 665 spaces, a rooftop pool, and an amenity area. The developer requests rezoning and a special land-use permit. However, the Bells Ferry Civic Association opposes the project, citing an existing surplus of off-campus housing and potential traffic issues. The Cobb Planning Commission will review the proposal on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. We'll be back in a moment Break: INGLES 9 STORY 6: Kim McCoy Named Director of Cobb Family Advocacy Center Kim McCoy has been appointed the first executive director of the new Cobb Family Advocacy Center, announced by Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr. McCoy, formerly the director of the DA's Victim Witness Unit, proposed the center to serve victims of various forms of abuse. A new Toyota 4Runner is coming and we have a lot to say about it. Adams spotted a Gen 2 Toyota MR2. He likes it, but Steve-0 doesn't. Trauma surgeon Stephan Moran MD talks self-driving cars, starting with the recent Tesla settlement with the family of an Apple engineer who died behind the wheel of a Model X using Autopilot in California, and moving on to active driver assistance systems (ADAS), which he believes should always include driver monitoring systems (DMS). Adams eulogizes the Audi R8, which just went out of production. It was a great car. Steve-0 discusses Mansory, the luxury car personalization company in Germany that takes high end cars like Rolls Royces or Bentleys and "enhances" them with garish colors inside and out and other outlandish embellishments. We hate. #toyota4runner #toyotamr2 #teslaautopilot #audir8 #mansory #mansoryrollsroyce #carsoncallpodcast
This week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, our hosts dive into the Land Rover Defender 130, but not just any Defender: this one is loaded with all the trimmings, including a side-mounted accessory box, a roof rack made for camping, a ladder to access that rack, and some sweet flat-black paint. Benjamin asks, are these things useful? Are they worth the money? Won't people in the city just be tempted to mess with your cool Land Rover stuff? And Sami has his thoughts on why he's right and wrong - not to mention how the rest of the car behaves on the road. Then our hosts get dirty discussing the recently revealed 2025 Toyota 4Runner, which has finally recieved a significant redesign after being untouched for so long. While that's good news, the guys can't help but bring up the new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and how this news affects its standing in the Toyota truck lineup. In this episode, Marshall and Nick discuss various car-related news and trends. They talk about the release of the new ZR1 Corvette after six years, Kia's announcement of their first truck called the Tasmanian, the decline of mini trucks in the market, the race for the fastest electric vehicle, the drop in resale value of electric cars, and the changing models of the Toyota 4Runner. They also touch on inflation and the increasing prices of goods. In this conversation, Nick and Marshall discuss the current state of the car market, focusing on the Toyota 4Runner and the pricing and value of new vehicles. They explore the cramped interior of the 4Runner, the high price point of Toyota SUVs, and the comparison between Toyota and Lexus. They also touch on the trend of overlanding vehicles and the misconception that many owners actually take their vehicles off-road. The conversation concludes with a discussion on why people are buying fewer new cars, including issues with redesigns, high prices, and a disconnect between car manufacturers and car enthusiasts. Takeaways Chevy is releasing the new ZR1 Corvette after six years, creating excitement among Corvette enthusiasts. Kia is entering the truck market with their first truck called the Tasmanian. The mini truck market is making a comeback, especially in Texas, where many trucks from Asian countries are now legally importable. The race for the fastest electric vehicle is ongoing, with Porsche claiming to have the fastest EV with their new model. The resale value of electric cars is dropping, making them a good value for used car buyers. The Toyota 4Runner has undergone many changes and now offers nine different trim packages, confusing potential buyers. Inflation is causing the prices of goods, including gas, to increase. The car industry is constantly evolving, with new models and trends emerging. The Toyota 4Runner has a cramped interior and a high price point, making it less appealing to taller individuals and those seeking a more luxurious experience. Toyota SUVs are priced similarly to Lexus models, making it more advantageous to purchase a used Lexus with low mileage for a better overall experience. The trend of overlanding vehicles is often overhyped, as most owners do not actually take their vehicles off-road. Car manufacturers are losing touch with car enthusiasts and are prioritizing their brand image over the needs and desires of their customers. The high prices of new cars, coupled with issues with redesigns and a lack of significant improvements, are leading consumers to hold onto their current vehicles or seek alternatives. Lots happened this week. Jimmy wheeled out on the Rubicon Trail to meet up with Nate from Dirt Lifestyle and Kelly from Muddy Beards 4x4. It was a fun trip in, and randomly got a passenger on the way out. While Tyler was twiddeling his thumbs waiting for Kermit to be ready for pickup, and on Monday it was. Now Tyler is in a mad rush to get the Toyota 4Runner drivable before Rubiton in a few days.
