This week for the first time ever we dipped our toes into the waters that is college hockey. And we did this thanks to Brian Brewster who has a connection to one of our hosts. (He's Connor's Uncle). The secret has been revealed. But he is the head athletic trainer for the University of Michigan Wolverines Men's Hockey team. And during this unprecedented 2020 season that includes trying to play a season through a pandemic. He makes for an incredibly interesting conversation. We ask him the hard hitting questions like - On a scale of 1/10 how feasible did he think it would be for the season to be played, and even now even as the season has started how does he feel? - What could we see continue in college sports when we get to the new normal in a post-COVID world. - His reaction to successfully navigating everyone to be healthy and play a game in 2020. - TB12 method, does it work? - Admittedly none of us were probably at our healthiest in college. Whether it be heavy drinking, poor eating or bad sleeping habits, how does he keep these kids in top physical shape? - All the feels when it comes to injuries, a funny experience he had during a gruesome injury but also a sad one. - His favorite Big Ten town to visit when he is away from Ann Arbor - What it's like to be playing hockey with no fans in the stands - He also gives his takes on Nebraska football, Michigan football and how he feels about a certain team playing in Bedlam this week. Play Episode Listen Later Oct 15, 2020 86:08

It has been an absolutely bonkers season for College Football already. And the Big Ten and Pac-12 haven't even started playing yet. What was up the week before is now down, what was down two weeks ago is now up and you don't even want to get into what's sideways. So we do our best to break down what was another wild week of college football and do our best to "predict" what could happen this week. - Red River Shootout was a SHOOTOUT. OU beats Texas, both are now unranked, but it was still awesome - What is Mississippi State, LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Pitt? Too Many teams that are simultaneously promising, disappointing and exciting all at the same time. - Is Boston College legit? - Among Us is dominating our brains, who inside the top ten is super sus? - Locks? For next week. Gilli still feels good about his picks, Connor is throwing darts at a wall he's so lost. - Nick Saban has COVID, how does it affect the Alabama vs. Georgia game this weekend? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/verbally-committed/message

We tried to tell you that Ames is weird. - Kentucky lost because a guy threw up deuces? - Mississippi State, hot and cold, where is the happy medium? - Locks for this week - Red River Rivalry game, maybe the most downtrodden version of it but hey we're still going to talk about it! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/verbally-committed/message

We said we were free agents, and only now, after this is recorded and edited do we realize it would have been more clever to say that we're transferring... Oh well the show must go on. - Jamie Newman and Ja'Marr Chase opt out of the season. Are LSU and Georgia's chances at a championship done?  - Is Justin Fields going back to Georgia? If not then why was he spotted in Athens this past weekend? - WTF is going on with the Big Ten? Either play or don't play already Jesus Christ.  - October 10th start date. Is it possible? Will it happen? Should you have any confidence in B1G leadership right now? - Oh and Donald Trump is more effective than Kevin Warren, who would have guessed that? - We enter the transfer portal and pick new college football teams to root for.  - A smaller slate but a slate of games none the less as we give you our picks for what spreads we find most appetizing this first weekend. This week we question the very structure of podcasts themselves. Why do we introduce our podcast at the start? You know what you clicked on, you know this is Verbally Committed, why are we telling you that? But no seriously, we play a little game of buy/sell for storylines of the 2020 season, in a game we like to call "Commit or De-Commit." Get it? Because our podcast is called Verbally Committed?!?!? Anyways here is what we discuss: - Is North Carolina actually going to be good long term? - Is the Heisman Trophy, Trevor Lawrence's to lose? - Will they wait till possibly the Big Ten plays in the spring to give out the Heisman and other awards? - Is Alabama better off without a star quarterback? - Will there be a claimed National Championship from the spring playing teams? - Will Oklahoma or the field win the Big 12? - Will Oklahoma be a top 10 defense this year? (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA no they will not) - Could the possibility exist where we have three SEC teams in the Playoff? Plenty of questions, not many answers but lots of fun on this weeks episode. Thanks for the listen. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/verbally-committed/message
