In this week's Power Surge, we share the incredible story of Andre “Tre” Howard III, a 10-year-old boy who showed unbelievable bravery in the face of tragedy. After a devastating plane crash, Tre instinctively shielded his younger sister, suffering a severe head injury but ultimately saving her life. When Tre woke up after surgery, his first concern? Whether he had missed the Super Bowl. That's the kind of die-hard Eagles fan spirit that caught the attention of A.J. Brown, who promised to visit Tre after the big game—and he kept his word. Brown's surprise hospital visit, complete with the Eagles' Vince Lombardi Trophy, turned into an unforgettable moment of kindness and connection. This is a story of resilience, community, and the impact of small but powerful acts of kindness. Tune in as we honor Tre's bravery and A.J. Brown's generosity in this inspiring episode. Honoring a Veteran: Christopher Sawyer Each week, we take a moment to remember a veteran from 22 Too Many, honoring those who served and whose stories must never be forgotten. Christopher Wayne Sawyer Born: December 13, 1990 – San Francisco, CA Passed: March 5, 2020 – Fort Hood, TX Served: U.S. Army, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Laid to rest in Longview, WA Christopher was funny, selfless, and deeply devoted to his family. He had a contagious laugh, a heart of gold, and a deep love for God. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, and family BBQs, but most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter, sharing hugs and running together. His mother, Denise, shared: “Christopher was a lively jokester. He loved to make people laugh and had a heart of gold. His loss shatters my heart – he is missed and loved very much.” We honor Christopher's life, service, and the impact he made on those who knew him. Rest in peace.

Hackman wasn't a Hollywood prodigy—he was told he would never make it. But instead of accepting defeat, he pushed forward, breaking into acting in his 30s and becoming one of the most respected actors of all time. Then, at age 74, he did something remarkable—he walked away from Hollywood on his own terms. No farewell tour, no clinging to past glory—just a smooth transition into his next passion: writing. His journey is proof that reinvention isn't just for the young—it's for anyone ready to embrace change and create a new chapter in life. Episode Highlights:

If you've ever thought: “I'd love a business BUT …“I don't have TIME.” “I don't have MONEY.” “I don't have IDEAS.” “I have TOO MANY ideas and I don't know where to start.” “I'm not technical.” “I'm not creative or artistic.” “I'm not good at sales.” You're not alone. Countless people don't start businesses or side hustles for these reasons. And they're losing thousands — perhaps millions — in opportunity cost. How much could you make if you started a side hustle that eventually scaled into a business? Possibly millions. Today's guest, Noah Kagan, is living proof. Noah was employee #30 at Facebook. His stock options, if fully vested, would be worth over $1 billion today. (If you want to do the math — his stock options came to 0.1 percent of the company, which has a current market cap of $1 trillion.) But Noah was fired just a couple months before his stock options vested. So rather than getting a billion-dollar payout, he got nothing. He sank into a deep depression, eventually recovering with the help of a therapist who counseled him on how to reframe the experience. Then he rolled up his sleeves and got to work. He became a serial entrepreneur, building multiple businesses. His most successful venture now makes $80 million in gross revenue, and his personal take-home is $3.3 million per year (which comes from a $200,000 annual salary and $3.1 million profit distribution.) His net worth is $36 million. Not a billion, but still not too shabby. Noah recently wrote a book called “Million Dollar Weekend: The Surprisingly Simple Way to Launch a 7-Figure Business in 48 Hours.” He sits down with us (in person!) to share: — how to find business ideas — how to overcome objections and rejections — how to scale By the end of the episode, the common objections that you often hear — like “I don't have time/money/ideas” — will be quashed. Please enjoy! We're sharing this as part of GREATEST HITS WEEK, a 5-day series in which we're sharing 5 episodes, across 5 days, that originally aired at the start of 2024 (January through March). Jim and Matt continue into Hour 2 by ironing out their 2nd poll question, asking which potential obstacle could end up costing the Packers a home playoff game: new defense with Jeff Hafley, replacing Aaron Jones with Josh Jacobs, unreliability at kicker, or too many mouths to feed at WR? Jim also makes the case the Matt LaFleur is more crucial to the team's success than Gutey. Jason Wilde joins Jim Rutledge & Matt Hamilton. Jason begins by telling producer Primetime "no thank you" to his new intro song for Jason, and Matt tells Jason thank you for gifting him a hover curling set for the office! Jim also asks Jason if Gutey or Matt LaFleur is more valuable for the Packers and how quickly narratives can flip on GMs and head coaches. Matt asks if the Packers might actually have TOO MANY mouths to feed at WR, and is it okay if multiple guys think they're WR1? Jim finishes up asking Jason if kicker could end up costing the Packers a home playoff game (or even a playoff berth), and just HOW in shape is AJ Dillon? Molly Brown calls in while she's off the show for today's Throwing Stones, including takes on the Super Bowl optimism for the Bears, the fantastic niche sports of the Olympics, and the Mean Girls remake/musical!

The 128th Boston Marathon took place on April 15, 2024. Your host, Paul Stroessner was in attendance for both the marathon and the expo, and this is his report. This week's 22 Too Many veteran is David Simpson “My Cousin David took his own life. A few nights ago, he became one of the 22 US veterans that commit suicide daily. I know it was not always this way but it is this way now. This happens 22 times a day-people feel like I do starting 22 times a day. He was either the first or the last of the day. He said goodbye on the last day of May in the last hour in his time zone. The outcry of support was overwhelming. People know. This happens too much. He knew it happened too much. David became medically disabled. He had PTSD and had also contracted Lyme disease during his many years in service. When he returned from service, work within his community and with his fellow veterans became his service. Many also remember him from the video below. He fought for the rights of those four legged soldiers. Now all the two legged ones need to stand up for him. Did this have to be? I don't think so. To know how to help veterans overcome suicide, one only needs to know what a veteran who overcame suicide knew. Andrew Jones with The Ripple Effect – Helping Veterans and Families HEAL explained how he did just that. He found words in that dark place that kept him from taking his own life – familiar words “Hold your position.” Hold your position, call for support. That is what a soldier does when he is in trouble. David didn't have these words in that dark place. All military personnel should be given these words upon their exit into civilian life. If David had orders in respect to his own life, he would have followed them. David, if I could have said anything to you on that last hour in May it would have been hold your position and call for support. And if I can say anything to the 22 that are starting to die today it is just that: HOLD YOUR POSITION. Why did you not have these words David Michael Simpson? I am so sorry. I cannot stop thinking them now. Hold your position. Call for support. There are so many people, so many mothers, so many fathers and brothers, wives, husbands…children who wish that their loved one had received this order. But instead these soldiers just come back and die on American soil from unseen injuries they received in battle. PTSD is not a permanent thought process and suicide is not a consistent thought. They need an order to follow when they think these thoughts. Let's give it to them. I ask for your help. All of you. Every single one of you reading this. To the 22 veterans today who will face this darkness alone: Hold your position, call for support. You are an American life. It is the duty of the government and its military to protect you. If you are a threat to your own life, hold your position and call for support. But I cannot say “that is an order”. I am a civilian surrounded by civilians who are watching them all die. So this is just a Facebook post. They need an order to pull them back from the chaos. So give it to them. David, support was on its way. You just had to hold your position.” https://youtu.be/Cnf5QZ0rzzo?si=RGzj8JrMcyM6KSsG   Also mentioned The Frontrunner by Brad Fawley ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inspiring Journeys can be found on: Instagram: @InspiringJourneysPod Facebook Kerri can be found on Instagram: @running_with_the_rockstar Facebook: Every Run Has a Story   You can find The Rhode Runner in the following places: Twitter: @TheRhodeRunner Instagram: @TheRhodeRunner Facebook You can also download and subscribe to the Inspiring Journeys Podcast at: Apple Podcasts iHeartRadio Spotify

While many people would buckle under any of these events, the Marino family has not only survived, but are thriving!  This episode is also dedicated to the 22 Too Many hero: Ellis Weems “Ellis was born in Landsthul, W. Is it possible for the Royals to have signed TOO MANY guys? Who would've thought that the good 'ol Kansas City Royals would be trying to make more Major League signings than anybody else. This may or may not present a problem with the roster, as Adam Frazier could take up a space that could also be filled by several other cheaper, younger and possibly better players, like Michael Massey no matter how many people want to beat me up for believing in him. https://www.fansfirstsports.com/royal-de-lux/the-royals-won-the-drafts-worst-case-scenario/ New episodes every Monday and Friday! How to Start a Business in One Weekend, with Noah Kagan

#485: If you've ever thought: "I'd love a business BUT …” I don't have TIME I don't have MONEY I don't have IDEAS I have TOO MANY ideas and I don't know where to start I'm not technical I'm not creative or artistic I'm not good at sales You're not alone. Countless people don't start businesses or side hustles for these reasons. And they're losing thousands -- perhaps millions -- in opportunity cost. How much could you make if you started a side hustle that eventually scaled into a business? Possibly millions. Today's guest, Noah Kagan, is living proof. Noah was employee #30 at Facebook. His stock options, if fully vested, would be worth over $1 billion today. (If you want to do the math -- his stock options came to 0.1 percent of the company, which has a current market cap of $1 trillion.) But Noah was fired just a couple months before his stock options vested. Noah recently wrote a book called "Million Dollar Weekend: The Surprisingly Simple Way to Launch a 7-Figure Business in 48 Hours." He sits down with us (in person!) to share: -- how to find business ideas -- how to overcome objections and rejections -- how to scale By the end of the episode, the common objections that you often hear -- like "I don't have time/money/ideas" -- will be quashed. 2 hour and 12 minutes The Sponsors Thank you to Underground Printing for making this all possible. Rishi and Ryan have been our biggest supporters from the beginning. Check out their wide selection of officially licensed Michigan fan gear at their 3 store locations in Ann Arbor or learn about their custom apparel business at undergroundshirts.com. Our associate sponsors are: Peak Wealth Management, Matt Demorest - Realtor and Lender, Ann Arbor Elder Law, Michigan Law Grad, The Phil Klein Insurance Group, Winewood Organics, Human Element, Venue by 4M where we recorded this, and The Nose Bleeds, which is the Sklars Bros' reboot of Cheap Seats on UFC Fight Pass. 1. Offense vs Nebraska Starts at 1:00 There are people saying Michigan runs TOO MANY flea flickers?? It's hard to win 45-7 when you play at the pace that Michigan plays at. This game was domination. Kalel Mullings emerged, De'Veon Smith but fast? Donovan Edwards showed improvement, despite what the stats might show. LaDarius Henderson played most of the game, maybe he just needed some time to get broken in since he played guard last year and wasn't at Michigan in the spring. JJ McCarthy didn't seem phased by the windy conditions. The Nebraska run defense might hold up against Penn State? The passing game bread and butter is a 15 yard dig route. Bredeson and Barner are A+ blockers.  [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Defense vs Nebraska Starts at 46:06 There was a Nebraska highlight reel at halftime that involved three plays. Kris Jenkins was not blocked at all. Nebraska's left tackle scored a zero in PFF two years ago. Will Johnson got beat in man coverage which isn't great! Ernest Hausmann played a great game in his old stadium, was called a traitor by someone in the stands. Zone drops need improvement by defensive ends. Otherwise not much else to complain about.  3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 1:08:57 Takes hotter than Lincoln, Nebraska in October (for some reason). Dave attended this game and describes the Nebraska experience. Their fans are as nice as advertised and have great shirts. JJ was also very nice in this game for reasons discussed. Per Blake Corum, this game was buttery and sweet. Dorks! Tommy Doman startled the commentators with a punt. Not much to discuss in terms of game theory (besides Nebraska timeout usage).  4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:37:49 Minnesota - 35 Louisiana - 24 Louisiana outgains Minnesota, that can't feel good with Michigan coming up. By the 3rd quarter, Minnesota took control. Based on Minnesota vs Northwestern and Nebraska, this probably won't be a competitive game coming up.  Iowa - 26 Michigan State - 16 Iowa gets 26 points but their offensive net contribution is 10. But hey, they got their goal of >25 points! Michigan State outgains Iowa but throws three interceptions. This was just a hideous game.  Penn State - 41 Northwestern - 13 This game was tied at halftime but Penn State really put it away in the second half. It's hard to think that Penn State's offensive line will do much against Michigan. 31 of 63 of Northwestern's offensive plays went for one yard or less. Penn State sort of ran a fake kneel down to beat the spread. That doesn't seem like a team that seems confident enough to beat Ohio State.  Purdue - 44 Illinois - 19 Lots of penalties for Illinois. One third of Illinois' yards came in the last nine minutes. This is a year zero for Purdue which makes this more impressive.  Maryland - 44 Indiana - 17 This was ugly, feels like Tom Allen's swan song. Maryland is 5-0 and is looking decent, but they probably won't have the lines to compete with Ohio State this weekend.  Rutgers - 52 Wagner - 3 MUSIC: “Dead Fox”— Courtney Barnett “Eye On The Bat”— Palehound “Find Me in the Air”—  The Builders and the Butchers “Across 110th Street”
