This week, we're replaying a classic episode where Steve and Yvonne interview Gary Fox of Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain, P.A ( https://www.stfblaw.com). Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here to Rate and Review View/Download Trial Documents Case Details: Inner Circle of Advocates attorney Gary Fox shares how a medical malpractice case was mistried twice before resulting in Leon County, Florida's first verdict in 17 years in favor of a patient against a physician. Premature baby Levi Slayton was taken to the doctor a few days after birth for breathing difficulties and rising bilirubin levels, which can indicate elevated red blood cell destruction and a possible infection. The doctor was negligent and failed to admit the baby to the hospital to monitor his bilirubin levels in an environment that could respond quickly. Returning home, the baby stopped breathing while being breastfed and suffered such significant brain damage from a lack of oxygen that life-support was not recommended. Levi only lived for six days. The jury assigned 100% responsibility for the baby's death to the doctor, returning a verdict of $3,373,000. Guest Bio: Gary Fox For the past 39 years, Gary Fox has devoted his practice exclusively to the trial of civil cases in Florida. He specializes in the trial of medical malpractice, products liability and wrongful death cases. Gary graduated from the University of Florida School of Law in 1976, where he was an editor of the law review and member of the National Moot Court Board. After graduation, he went to work for the firm known as Frates Floyd Pearson Stewart Richman & Greer. He became a partner at the firm and in 1984 left to open his own firm with Larry Stewart, Jim Tilghman and David Bianchi, where he has remained since. Gary is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, the most selective group of trial lawyers in the United States. The Inner Circle is an invitation-only group limited to the top 100 plaintiffs' trial attorneys in America. Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain is the only law firm in Florida with two members in The Inner Circle. Gary was selected as the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates, Florida Chapters, an organization also known as FLABOTA. The American Board of Trial Advocates is an invitation-only group of trial lawyers evenly divided between attorneys who represent plaintiffs and those who represent insurance companies, manufacturers, health care providers, and other defendants. Seven years after graduation, he became board certified as a civil trial lawyer by the Florida Bar and the following year he was certified in the same specialty by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Gary was elected President of the Miami Chapter of ABOTA in 1992 and was elected President of the statewide ABOTA organization (FLABOTA) in 1990. In 2004 he was selected for inclusion in the International Society of Barristers, another invitation-only group of trial lawyers that is limited to 600 members worldwide. Gary represented Terri and Michael Schiavo in the medical malpractice trial arising out of the events that led to Terri's coma. The jury returned a substantial verdict for Terri and Michael and the proceeds of that recovery led to the rift between Michael and Terri's family and international publicity that followed. In addition, Gary has represented boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Hall of Fame baseball player Eddie Mathews and All-Pro NFL cornerback Samari Rolle. Gary and Stephen Cain tried to verdict Mr. Rolle's case in Charlotte, North Carolina. The jury returned a verdict in Mr. Rolle's favor. It was the first time in 12 years a jury in Charlotte had returned a verdict for a patient in a medical malpractice case. Gary also represented Jane Doe, a rape victim, in the case against Carnival Cruise Lines that became the subject of national publicity when Carnival was required by court order to disclose the data surrounding the number of sexual assaults occurring aboard its ships. John Offerdahl: Living Life Off The GrillAn Official Miami Dolphins PodcastOne might find it hard to believe that a small-town Wisconsin kid could be come an All-Pro NFL linebacker – in Miami no less! – but that is exactly what John Offerdahl did. Offerdahl received just one Division I offer following high school, a partial scholarship to Western Michigan University. It didn't take long for the partial to become a full scholarship, nor did it take long for Offerdahl to become a four-year starter, team leader, three-time All-MAC player, and second-team All American. It was his performance in the 1986 Senior Bowl, however, that truly peaked the interest of NFL scouts as Offerdahl's goal line stops against Heisman Trophy-winning folk hero Bo Jackson helped him earn the game's Defensive MVP award. Don Shula's Miami Dolphins were impressed enough to use their first selection in the NFL draft on Offerdahl and he did not disappoint. In his rookie season, Offerdahl was selected to the Pro Bowl, named a second-team All Pro, and shared NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. The Pro Bowl became a second home for Offerdahl as Shula's defensive captain was named to the all star game in each of his first five seasons. When he wasn't knocking down running backs, Offerdahl tackled the restaurant industry, building Offerdahl's Bagel Gourmet into a 10-store mini empire and eventually selling the business to what would become Einstein Bros. Five years after the sale, he re-entered the restaurant industry opening what is now called Offerdahl's Off the Grill. In The Tank, John vividly details his head-on meetings with Bo Jackson, shares how he handled an epic Don Shula expletive-filled rant, explains how a contract hold out also may have helped prepare him for the restaurant business, and discusses how his desire for, and receptiveness to, good coaching has shaped his life in many ways.Contributors to this episode include Sean “DJ Prec” Todd and Dolphins Productions.Theme song created and performed by The Honorable SoLo D.

Historian Ben Baumann talks with former American football star Brandon Lloyd about his journey to the NFL, what it is like playing in the NFL, and what it takes to become a professional athlete. (Brandon Lloyd retired All-Pro NFL wide receiver, completed 11 seasons of professional football; in 2010, he led the NFL with 1,448 receiving yards. The only Denver Bronco in NFL history to do so and 11 touchdowns on only 77 receptions. Upon retirement, Brandon returned to the University of Illinois to complete his undergraduate and walked with the class of 2018. Brandon is passionate about business and youth development. While playing in the NFL, he founded a private music publishing entity; in the latter part of his NFL career spent his off-season's working in aerospace sales. Philanthropically Brandon mobilized a regional chapter of Blessings in a Backpack to feed youth in his hometown of Blue Springs, Missouri. Post-NFL, he has mentored DACA recipients and is active in faith-based Denver Dream Center serving families suffering from recidivism, loss of faith, and poverty. Locally as a medical device sales representative for Zimmer Biomet Spine, Brandon provided intraoperative support for orthopedic and neurosurgeons. He is currently serving as a Business Partnerships and Apprenticeship Ambassador at CareerWise Colorado, a registered youth apprenticeship non-profit. He combines his two lifelong passions of engaging in business and youth advancement.) Tommi Vincent is a chef, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and writer best known as the matriarch of VINCENT COUNTRY, a lifestyle movement created to inspire, uplift and reflect positive family images. She is also the wife of Troy Vincent, Executive Vice President of NFL Football Operations and former All-Pro NFL cornerback. Tommi has built an exemplary family and diverse career around faith-filled leadership and community development. However, before she met her husband of over 25 years, Tommi grew up believing domestic violence was just an acceptable way of life. It wasn’t until she almost lost her life that she had to realize the patterns in her life weren’t serving her. Committed to eradicating domestic violence through awareness, prevention, and education, Tommi sits on the Board of the National Domestic Violence Hotline. In this episode, Tommi shares her powerful journey of strength, struggle and breaking the cycle of abuse. She also shares some invaluable insight into the mindset of an abuse victim and ways we can all help. Key Takeaways Don’t let people’s expectations define your ambitions and goals. Tommi and her husband make sure that their children know they can be their own self-advocates. Tommi shares a time where she was first exposed to domestic violence. “When it’s all you know, you think it’s normal.” Tommi’s ex tried to throw her off a bridge. That’s when she knew her life was meant for so much more. “A healthy relationship has to start with yourself first”. What should you do if you know someone in an abusive relationship? It’s easy to say ‘what you’d do’ if you were put in an abusive situation, but not everyone is like you. Where’s the balance between trying to jump in and help someone vs. letting them make their own mistakes? Tommi had to relearn how to communicate in a healthy way. How did Tommi and Troy break their unhealthy communication patterns? If you want to experience love on another level with your spouse, you have to be vulnerable. Tommi was 38 when she went to counseling. It’s a lifelong process. Children learn what they can be by what they see. When should you talk to children about domestic violence? You are uniquely made and created. No one can replace you. If you've followed the LYP podcast previous episodes and watched til the end I had each guest since our first guest lobby for Arian Foster to be our show. It was a way to show respect and pay homage to the person I got the idea from on his podcast. Most of you may know Arian as a former 4x All Pro NFL running back for the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins. That's where my introduction of him was as well but I was able to learn and appreciate him more once I started following his “Now what? Podcast”. He was a former pro athlete in his early 30s making a transition into a life of creativity, having introspective and authentic conversations with people of who he knew and some he didn't. In this conversation we spoke about his upbringing and how we share the experiences of growing up in a domestic violent household. We also spoke about his life as a former podcaster into a variety of different content creation such as conversations with right wing conservatives and why that's important to him. Arian was transparent in this conversation and even spoke to us about some personal battles in the historical year of 2020. This episode was epic and something that we will continue to build off of. Thank you to Arian for receiving our invitation and blessing us with a conversation worth remembering. Love! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/liveyourpurposepodcast/support

Professional Park Pediatrics, P.A., Pediatrics of Timberlane, P.A., and Penrod, M.D.│ $3.373 million verdict This week, your hosts Steve Lowry and Yvonne Godfrey interview Gary Fox of Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain, P.A ( https://www.stfblaw.com) Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here To Rate and Review Case Details: Inner Circle of Advocates attorney Gary Fox shares how a medical malpractice case was mistried twice before resulting in Leon County, Florida's first verdict in 17 years in favor of a patient against a physician. Click Here to Read/Download the Complete Trial Documents Guest Bio: Gary Fox For the past 39 years Gary Fox has devoted his practice exclusively to the trial of civil cases in Florida. Legendary 2-time All Pro NFL linebacker, Takeo Spikes, joins The Brink of Midnight Podcast. Known to teammates as "TKO", "Bam Bam", and for the size of his neck (21 inches), Takeo Spikes has left a legacy both on and off the football field. He was team captain of 13 out of 15 of his NFL seasons and had a rare 219 starts in his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and San Diego Chargers. Takeo is known for his incredible discipline, sense of creativity, and belief in teamwork, and he credits growing up in a small town in Georgia with building that foundation. Despite having a mother who was an educator, Takeo struggled in school and had difficulty with test-taking. He had to sacrifice at an early age to make sure he did whatever it took to take advantage of opportunity when it came. His life-changing moment came at 15 years old when his father gave him the VHS tape “How to Be a Champion” by Lou Holtz. He learned about putting priorities in order to set up a blueprint for success in life and it's this same blueprint that he reviews ever year. Takeo honed in on the word "ethos" and it led to becoming All State in high school, being called "Mr. Football" in Georgia, and to making a lasting mark at Auburn University, where he developed his sense of discipline, mindset and consistency. In this conversation, we go deep on Takeo's life-changing moments and how he developed his character and consistency despite never making a playoff game in his 15 year career. He shares how he continues to develop his mindset, express his creativity, and commit to lifelong learning. That same struggling student became the kind of guy who went back to finish his bachelor's, get his masters, take executive classes at Stanford University, find a love for photography, and write a book! Andrew Hawkins was a top slot receiver for the Cleveland Browns, having just retired in 2017 while on the roster of the New England Patriots. If you don’t know who @Hawk (twitter) is, type in his name on YouTube and watch his one-on-one highlights against NFL cornerbacks.
