We started the show with the Daily Buzz Question.   WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT FRESNO HIRING ANDREW JANZ AS THE NEW CITY ATTORNEY?   THE BUZZ QUESTION IS SPONSORED BY THE BAZ ALLERGY, ATHSMA AND SINUS CENTER  The Fresno County District Attorney's Office has dismissed a misdemeanor attempted extortion case against Fresno City Council President Nelson Esparza. This decision came after a statement that was made by Esparza acknowledging his actions in the events leading up to the case, and why the allegations had to be pursued by the District Attorney's Office.  The Fresno County District Attorney's Office says while Esparza may have had good intentions during his interaction with former city attorney Dough Sloan, that does not relieve an elected official from following the law.  Scott Norris Johnson, A 60-year-old Carmichael man pleaded guilty in federal court to filing a false tax return and admitted that he failed to report more than a million dollars he received from settling litigation he initiated under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Johnson, a quadriplegic who uses a wheelchair for mobility, is well known in the Bay Area for suing small businesses where he allegedly encounters barriers to accessibility that violate the ADA. In 2021 alone, he filed more than 1,000 cases in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.  Elon Musk set the leftwing mob ablaze on Friday evening after he released internal documents detailing Twitter's collusion with various entities, including the Biden campaign, to censor the Hunter Biden story. According to Musk, more smoking guns are on the way. “We're just gonna put all the information out there try to get a clean slate we will be iteratively better and it will force other media companies to also be more truthful or else they'll lose their readership,” Musk said Saturday. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The governor of Florida noted that midterms typically see a pendulum swing away from whichever party is in the White House.  By a unanimous vote, Fresno County prosecutor and former political candidate Andrew Janz has been selected as the next Fresno City Attorney.  Janz announced that he is stepping down from his position on the board of the Voter Protection Project. The terms of the contract were amended Thursday to include that Janz will not participate in any capacity with a PAC while serving as the city attorney.  Janz said he has met with the city attorney's office and senior staff at City Hall to go over available public information that is helping him prepare to take over the position. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Birmingham has served on the board for more than 36 years. Birmingham is expected to earn a severance of more than $660,000.  Andrew Janz will step down from the Voter Protection Project, so he can work as Fresno's new city attorney without the perception of a political agenda. Janz said the decision to step down on Dec. 1 from VPP's board was made in conjunction with his acceptance of the new job.  Early voting is underway in Georgia in an intense week-and-a-half of campaigning between GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker and incumbent Democratic Sen. Bienvenidos Strange Days faithful! This episode is sure to be a treat. A lot has happened since we last spoke. Trump’s lawyer called it quits (I don’t blame him), Mueller and the investigation have been repeatedly attacked, and the army of women seeking justice against Trump gained victories. If you feel over your head in trying to comprehend everything that’s happened, you are not alone. So we will attempt to sort through it all with our friend and CNN legal expert Katie Phang, joined by the fearless journalist Marc Caputo of POLITICO Florida. We continue with our “Flip That Seat” series this week, speaking with the former prosecutor and man who is determined to replace Devin Nunes in Congress, Andrew Janz of the 22nd District of California. So take out your handy pocket-sized copy of the Constitution because it's about to get real. Enjoy!
