Along with Ryan, these three stalwart adventurers will attempt to produce the biggest Superhero Show Show of all time!First up, they're continuing the Bracket 400 with the Independent side of the bracket. I know it seems like every comic book show is based on a Marvel or DC character, but that's not true! Which of these 16 shows will make it into the Elite 8. Can Archie hang with The Boys? And how will artier shows like The End of the F#&$ing World do? After this episode, there will be 8 fewer shows in the bracket! Then, the Taste Buds watched the first two episodes of Doom Patrol! After a second season that got mangled by COVID, DP is back and ready to get back on track. How much of this season is covering the butt of last season? And once said butt is covered, can the show come back and be an SHSS favorite again?Next, the Friends hand out the Shushie for Best Supporting Actress! Last year's winner, Jean Smart, is ineligible, as are all of the other Watchmen cohorts, so the race is wide open! Could the main focus of this week, Doom Patrol, take over this award with heavy hitters April Bowlby and Diane Guerrero? Or will the nominees be taken over by shows that had their final season this year, like Wynonna Earp and Agents of SHIELD! Also, since they're in the "award" mood, Cassie and the Boyz discuss the recent Emmys show! A record number of comic book shows were nominated this year, but did any of them win? They go through the winners and the losers, and also who picked what in the draft they did a couple of months ago. Then the Taste Buds discuss and review every other show that came out this week, including Stargirl, Lucifer, Riverdale, Titans, What If...?, Supergirl, and Y: The Last Man! FINALLY, as if that wasn't enough, Mike and Ryan sit down with Colin and James of the podcast Timeline Scavengers! Had a rough week? The cheerfully silly, R-rated weirdness of "Doom Patrol" might be just what you need. The DC Universe show is a little bit "X-Men," a little bit 1950s monster movie, and a lot of lesson-free fun. "Doom Patrol" follows Brendan Fraser as a lumbering robot man named, uh, "Robot Man," who joins a grimly goofy team of super zeroes who live together in Doom Manor under the guardianship of their "Chief," played by Timothy Dalton. The cast includes Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl, Matt Bomer as Negative Man, Joivan Wade as Cyborg, and Alan Tudyk as their arch-nemesis, Mr. Nobody."Doom Patrol" has drawn many "X-Men" comparisons because Chief, like Professor X, uses a wheelchair, lives in a secluded mountain and leads a team of outcasts. But the first "Doom Patrol" comic actually beat the first issue of "X-Men" by three months, back in 1963.So turn off your brain and enjoy "Doom Patrol." You'll just laugh, wince, and watch a puff of green smoke emerge from a donkey's butt, one of several butts you'll see in the first couple episodes. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Our hosts Neil and Martin are back with the second episode of their Doom Patrol discussions! In this episode the team talk episode 1x02 "Donkey Patrol". The synopsis for the episode reads: The Chief has disappeared and the only clue that the team has to his whereabouts is an average donkey. Doom Patrol stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor, Diana Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Jovian Wade as Vic Stone and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder. The series comes from Berlanti Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. On the second episode of the Doom Patrol Podcast (a.k.a. the Titans Podcast), your hosts Andy Behbakht, Corinne McCreery Laura Sirikul, and Amy Giardiniere get together to cover the second episode of DC Universe’s newest show Doom Patrol! In episode 2, titled "Donkey Patrol", it picks up right after the events of the pilot as the Chief is still missing. As the squad handles the disappearance of the Chief in their own ways, Vic Stone a.k.a. Cyborg joins them in the search for their leader. In addition to the episode discussion, the gang gets into the confusing statements by April Bowlby and showrunner Jeremy Carver, through KSiteTV, that Doom Patrol may actually not be in the same universe as Titans, despite it being a spin-off from DC Universe's first original show. What does this all mean?! That and more on this week’s episode of the Doom Patrol Podcast (a.k.a. the Titans Podcast!) "Following Mr. Nobody's capture of Niles Caulder and the destruction of Cloverton Ohio, The Doom Patrol investigate the mysterious albino donkey and discover it is a door to another universe, one where Mr. Nobody is in control. Cyborg aka Vic Stone (series star JOIVAN WADE), a part man/part machine hero from Detroit who has his own complicated relationship with Niles Caulder, joins the search. This week's chat is with my dear friend, actress, April Bowlby. April and I met over a decade ago (wow, has it been that long?) in a scene study class. You might know her from her role as Alan's longtime girlfriend, Kandi, on Two and a Half Men. Or, you may recognize her as Stacy from six seasons of Drop Dead Diva. She's also starred in such films as From Prada to Nada, The Slammin' Salmon, and more. In this episode we talk about acting technique, and how auditioning for a part and actually playing the part on set are two different things entirely. April shares how she prepares for auditions. She lets us in on how she presents herself when she's in the room reading for producers, and how she faces challenges on set. We talk about what it's like for a trained, working actress to be in such a rapidly changing field. We also touch on the subject of typecasting. There's so much good stuff in this conversation, but what I want you guys to know is that April has brought life to characters (like Kandi) who could otherwise easily be dismissed as the beautiful airhead. She has made these characters interesting, and has given them hearts and souls. Yes, she's made us laugh, but she's also made us care for these characters. And that, my friends, takes smarts. For photos of April, and fun facts, pop on over to herprocess.com. Her Process now has a Facebook page: facebook.com/HerProcess You can find me on IG, Snapchat, Twitter, and FB at jobozarth.
April Bowlby, the lovely and talented actress from Drop Dead Diva, Two and a Half Men & THE SLAMMIN' SALMON! joins Kevin & Steve. They chat about the end of Drop Dead Diva, Scotland, auditioning for the Salmon, her no bullshit dancing skills & Lemme's stubble. All that and MORE. Enjoy the Chew!!
April Bowlby visits The Stamie and Tracy Show this week. She just wrapped her 6th and final season as "Stacy" on "Drop Dead Diva", she discusses what it was like to live in Georgia, her love life, what it was like to work on Stamie's favorite show "Two and a Half Men", and why she wakes up happy every morning. She's a special lady and was a pleasure to have on the show. Enjoy!!
