Please join actors Mariann Aalda, Jonelle Allen, Lauren B. Martin, Iona Morris, Phil Morris and Jim Reynolds in The Locher Room for a tribute to One Life to Live's legendary Ellen Holly who challenged racial barriers on daytime television in the 1960's.Ellen was one of the first black actors to play a lead role on daytime television, she broke barriers and sparked controversy with her iconic portrayal of “Carla Gray.” Carla, pretending to be white becomes involved in a love triangle with a White doctor and a Black intern. As Mariann Alda stated after Ellen's passing in December, the success of that story and the popularity with audiences opened doors for other Black actors to walk through. I was fortunate to be one of them, beginning with the fact that seeing her on One Life to Live made me believe that it would also someday be possible for me.”Mariann originated the role of “Didi Bannister” on The Edge of Night and is currently playing “Violet Givens” on The Bay, Joenelle Allen portrayed “Doreen Jackson” on Generations, Lauren B. Martin played "Camille Bennett" on As the World Turns, Iona Morris Jackson played “Fiona Griffin” on As the World Turns and Passions, Phil Morris played “Tyronne Jackson” on The Young and the Restless and James Reynolds currently portrays Abe Carver on Peacock's Days of Our Lives.” Don't miss the chance to hear from this talented group of actors on how Ellen and the “Carla Gray” storyline paved the way for black characters and actors to move from the background to front burner storylines. We'll also hear their feelings on how Black representation has evolved over the past six decades.

History is irrelevant this week on "Voyager"...or is it? First up, what feels like a Tom episode is actually a Chakotay episode until it turns into a "let's teach Seven something about humanity" episode when spaceman Phil Morris gets eaten by space food (your view of which may depend on your background) and becomes jerky by the 24th century in "One Small Step"! After that, Seven is auditioning to be the worst kind of "news" host when her brain makes connections that make sense if you don't think very hard in "The Voyager Conspiracy"! Phil Morris - Trek Untold Encore One of the folks on my big list of guests to get when I first started this podcast included this man, Phil Morris. Last week, we flashed back to what was originally the fifth episode of this podcast with an interview with his sister Iona. This week we jump ahead to episode 26, where we spoke with this incredibly accomplished character actor whose resume speaks for itself. Enjoy this classic episode you may have never heard before: Phil Morris is another of those actors whose face you've seen many times (200 to be exact) but whose name you may not have known until today. His father is the famous Greg Morris from the original "Mission: Impossible" show, and we spoke with his sister Iona Morris a few months back on this show, so acting is in his family's blood! Phil has been in the Star Trek franchise FIVE times, starting when he was a child in the original series in the season 1 episode "Miri." He explains how he got cast on the show and the scene they didn't warn any of the kids about! Over 20 years later, Phil returned to Trek and worked face to face with William Shatner in "Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock" and recalls the brilliant piece of direction Leonard Nimoy told him before his scene. Fast forward a few years later, and Phil made his way to DS9 in "Looking for Par'Mach in All The Wrong Places," where he tells us about becoming a Klingon, learning to fight with a batleth against Armin Shimmerman, and being directed by Andrew Robinson AKA Garak. One season later, he returned as the Third Remata Klan in "Rocks and Shoals" as a Jem'Hadar, and Phil tells us what it's like to work with the imposing Avery Brooks. Finally, his "Star Trek Voyager" appearance as Lt. John Kelly in "One Small Step," what it was like being directed by his acting school classmate Robert Picardo, and what big emotions came up filming this episode. Plus, being Jackie Chiles on "Seinfeld," working with Angela Lansbury on "Murder, She Wrote" and Will Smith on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," what he learned from his famous father and how the two of them got along on set for the "Mission: Impossible" reboot in 1988, Vandal Savage in Justice League animated series, and being on Doom patrol as Cyborg's dad, Silas Stone, and the story of the worst day he ever had on the job! Phil Morris returns to the show and is very contemplative. Happy Thanksgiving! Gather around the hearth, digest that bird, and play the mystery together!
