Achoo! We're falling in love with the one and only Faith Prince. You Might Know Her From Modern Family, Emily in Paris, Melissa & Joey, Spin City, My Father the Hero, The Last Dragon, and Broadway productions of Guys & Dolls, A Catered Affair, Bells Are Ringing, and BOOP! Faith talked to us about grounding her character, Valentina, in the cartoonish plot of BOOP!, coping with fame during her star-making turn in Guys & Dolls, and leaning on her co-star Gerard Depardieu in one of her first leading roles on camera in My Father the Hero. Faith also shared stories from working as a Broadway replacement in the cumbersome costume of Ursula in The Little Mermaid and the notoriously “realistic” production of Anne as Miss Hannigan. All that, plus working with theatre legends like Jerome Robbins, Abe Burrows, Betty Comden & Adolph Green, doing dialect work at Joey Lawrence and Lily Collins, doing her best Cyndi Lauper in cult fave The Last Dragon (and making pals with Berry Gordy, and working with Jean Smart and Mary McDonnell in the short-lived High Society. This one was a HOOT.

Really? The Accountant stars Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jeffrey Tambor, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, John Lithgow, Jean Smart, and Jon Bernthal as Brax; directed by Gavin O'Connor. It's Tax Day, and we're celebrating the fiscal cycle with a movie that gets physical. A film that puts the “internal” from “internal injuries” in the Internal Revenue Service. The flick that proves pocket protectors can be cool and no one will make fun of you for wearing them if you also carry a really big gun. Ben Affleck stars, the same year he donned the Bat-Mantle in Batman V Superman, alongside Jon Bernthal, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, John Lithgow, Jean Smart, and Jeffrey Tambor. In the film, Affleck plays an autistic CPA who is also a master assassin. Written by Ozark creator Bill Dubuque and directed by Gavin O'Connor, the film rightly drew criticism for “cripface” - casting a non-disabled actor to play a person with a disability - the film performed well at the box office and earned a sequel, which premiered last month at SXSW and goes wide later this month. But when the bill comes due, is The Accountant merely a paint-by-numbers affair, is it guilty of fraud, or does it add up to more than the sum of its parts? On this episode of the world's greatest Steve Buscemi-themed podcast, we're taking a look at the odd coming-of-age nightmare comedy YOUTH IN REVOLT from 2009 where Michael Cera creates a sociopathic version of himself in order to impress a young woman he meets at a trailer park. Stuffed with great character actors (Jean Smart, Justin Long, Fred Willard, Mary Kay Place, M. Emmett Walsh), its episodic format takes some getting used to, but it's much more interesting - and stranger - than the marketing would have you believe. Also, Steve Buscemi is in it (as Michael Cera's father!). All of this and the latest Buscemi news, and all for FREE! You can't pass up that deal. Matt, Dawn and Sarah are back to review three shows we've always championed. Firstly, Sanjeev Bhaskar packs his backpack for series 6 of the jewel in ITV's crown Unforgotten. He returns along with new colleague Jessie (Sinéad Keenan) to investigate another cold case when body parts are found in a river. The series introduces us to four disconnected families or stories but how do they connect to the body? Next, it's been a long wait for the third season of the hit US comedy Hacks. The series, which originally aired on Prime Video is now available on Sky and NOW and they've bought the first two seasons and the third season which means our wait is over. The incredible comedy with two equally powerful performances from Jean Smart and Hannah Einbeinder delivers possibly its strongest season yet. Next, Jack Rooke's semi-autobiographical comedy Big Boys is back for its third and final series, and on Netflix, there's a new true-crime drama Apple Cider Vinegar about an infamous Australian cancer scammer.
Carol Leifer has been a working stand-up comedian and writer for nearly 50 years. And she shows no signs of slowing down. After winning her first-ever Emmy Award in 2024 for her work on ‘Hacks,' Leifer, 68, is currently toiling away in the writers' room for her 11th Academy Awards ceremony, this one airing live with host Conan O'Brien on March 2. And she is about to release a new book that attempts to teach people ‘How to Write a Funny Speech' for the big events in their own lives. In this episode, Leifer looks back at her extensive comedy career, including her one season as a writer on ‘Saturday Night Live's' “weird year,” her role as a “real-life Elaine” behind-the-scenes at ‘Seinfeld,' why she tried to talk Larry David into keeping ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm' alive, what she makes of ‘Curb' star Cheryl Hines embracing the MAGA movement alongside her husband Robert F. Send us a textKatie and Bridget hijack a snow plow as they re-watch the Nickelodeon movie: Snow Day! It's a movie all about how "anything can happen on a Snow Day!" - particularly lots of felonies, stalking, and engagement in every single winter sport that's ever existed. WE SAID ANYTHING GUYS! Come along as we meet Natalie, a girl with possible early onset schizophrenia who wishes for a Snow Day and gets her wish granted with a possible magic snow globe! But Natalie's not satisfied with just one snow day, she wants the apparently "impossible" double snow day ...Did we mention this takes place in Syracuse, NY? With the help of her friends they work to take down the evil Snow Plow Man. Oh yeah there's also a terrible stalking subplot with her older brother Hal and some of his friends, but honestly that storyline is just so terrible and creepy so we'll spare you the nonsense. We've got random cameos, little Josh Pecks, and a bird named Trudy all wrapped up into this time period of a film. Released in 2000, it stars Chevy Chase, Schuyler Fisk, Jean Smart, Mark Webber, Chris Elliott, Pam Grier, Josh Peck, Zena Grey, Damian Young, and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas.

Awards season has arrived in the form of the Golden Globes nominations. The awards, which honor both movies and television programs, is often viewed as a preview of the upcoming Oscars. In this week's episode, co-hosts Bruce Miller and Terry Lipshetz go over the list, focusing largely on the movies, which tend to shine brightest at the ceremony. But they also take time to review a few of the TV shows, including the great, but rarely funny "The Bear," which is again in the comedy or musical category. We also have an interview with "Nickel Boys" director RaMell Ross, who spoke with Miller prior to the film receiving a nomination for best drama. In this penultimate episode of The Pod Charles Cinecast, your hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas are back with a Brucie Bonus, as we see the return of BRUCE WILLS US – the bonus series where we occasionally dip into the films of Bruce Willis. With Christmas nearly here, we'd figure we'd dip into one of Bruno's most magical movies, that would be a sure-fire holiday classic had it been set in December, DISNEY'S THE KID (2000). Bruce Willis plays a self-absorbed 40-year-old image consultant who is mysteriously confronted by the eight-year-old version of himself (Spencer Breslin), and is forced to confront the traumas of his past to become a better man. The film features a nice supporting cast of Emily Mortimer, Lily Tomlin, Chi McBride and Jean Smart. It's a pretty wholesome family film, that shows a really sweet side to Bruce, but there is a bit of a "time travel" twist that if you think about too much, makes absolutely no sense. Also, deep inside the film contains a pretty strong man going through therapy and confronting his inner child theme; something that didn't get much play back in those days. So of course we loved it. So, even though it's not a Christmas movie, we think it has enough magic to play this time of year. Give it a spin, and meet us on the airwaves for one last normal episode... Next Week is the end, and it will be a doozy. "Aww, somebody call the waahmbulance!"For full listings and tickets visit: princecharlescinema.com If you enjoy the podcast, leave a Rating and Review! We simply cannot leave the upheaval that was season six of Designing Women without talking about the elephant in the room: the cast changes. America was glued to their TVs to see how Julia Duffy and Jan Hooks would fare in place of the beloved Delta Burke and Jean Smart. Thirty million strong for that matter. We'll discuss if they got a fair shake. Designing Women had some cast changes, but they didn't invent them. So we're going to talk about some iconic ones in other corners of TV. Who did it best? Who did it worst? And, most importantly, was there drah-mah?!?!

Hannah Einbinder had never really acted before she was cast as Ava Daniels opposite Jean Smart's Deborah Vance on ‘Hacks.' Now, she's a three-time Emmy nominee. In this episode, Einbinder opens up about the overconfidence she brings to that role as well the onstage persona she displays in her excellent debut stand-up special ‘Everything Must Go' on Max. She also talks about overcoming the intimidation of acting with Jean Smart, compares the generational gap between their characters to her relationship with her own mother (original SNL cast member Laraine Newman), and teases what fans can expect from a more “badass” Ava in Season 4.
