In this episode, the Munsons dive into the versatile and wildly entertaining career of Alan Tudyk, joined by guest Munson, Mike Van de Voort. From battling a nasty case of hives in his first film role alongside Robin Williams to shattering Case's box office spreadsheet with his staggering number of billion-dollar films, Tudyk's career is nothing short of legendary. We explore his rigorous training at Juilliard (and pirate camp), the less-than-glamorous roles his agent forced upon him, and the (potentially) infamous Alan Tudyk bird scale. Of course, we can't resist gushing over his iconic performances in Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and Resident Alien, while also celebrating the countless animated characters he has brought to life. Buckle up for a deep dive into one of Hollywood's most underrated chameleons! How does he rank on the Munson Meter? Listen to find out.
Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. It wasn't quite the box office battle Hollywood wanted it to be this weekend with Wicked and Gladiator II going toe to toe in movie theaters. The musical movie adaptation soared with a nearly $114 million domestic opening, making it the biggest premiere ever for a Broadway movie adaptation. Into the Woods previously held that title, opening to just $31 million in 2014. Internationally, Wicked raked in an additional $50.2 million giving it a total opening of $164 million. While Gladiator II limped behind the musical phenomenon domestically, opening to $55.5 million, it succeeded in the international market to the tune of $165.5 million and overtook Wicked's worldwide box office significantly due to opening one week earlier internationally. The Blonde Bond himself, Daniel Craig, is a potential star for the feature film Sgt. Rock, which is in early development with DC Studios. While nothing is known about the plot, the character first appeared in comics in 1959 as a World War II soldier and was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. Challengers director Luca Guadagnino is set to direct and his screenwriting collaborator on both Challengers and upcoming film Queer, Justin Kurtizkes, will pen the script. In a deleted scene from Season 2 of Loki — part of an impending 4K UHD Blu-ray release — Loki recalls just how many people said Loki was a problem while talking with his friend Mobius over slices of key lime pie. After listing many names, Loki also brings up two villains from Marvel comics that audiences have not yet encountered in the MCU. The first is Amora, also known as Enchantress and the second is Absorbing Man, who began life as a boxer named Carl Creel, a character seen in Agents of Shield, — until Loki poisons him with an elixir that gives him the ability to transform his body into the quality of anything he touches. At the very end, Loki also brings up Hercules, who appeared in a post credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder. Disney and Lucasfilm have revealed that animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions is coming back for a third volume in 2025. A new teaser has been released for Noah Hawley's upcoming Alien franchise series titled Alien: Earth that confirms the series will arrive in the summer of 2025 on FX and Hulu. Deadline has confirmed that Suits spinoff series Suits: LA will feature the return of Gabriel Macht who played Harvey Specter on the original series in a limited reprisal of his role that is being described as a three episode arc. Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron have both joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming untitled film. They join Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Matt Damon. Banijay Rights, the distributor for Netflix anthology series Black Mirror, has struck a deal with Neil Gibson's UK-based Twisted Comics to create comics based on several of the episodes of the series. Developer CD Projekt announced The Witcher 4 video game is now in full-scale production. Isabel May, best known for her role in Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and 1923, has joined the cast of Scream 7 and will play Neve Campbell's daughter. Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations for a key role in J.J. Abrams' untitled feature at Warner Bros. He joins Jenna Ortega, Glen Powell, and Emma Mackey. In an interview about his upcoming voice role of Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos, Alan Tudyk confirmed that he will also voice Clayface in the series. Tudyk also voices Clayface on Harley Quinn: The Animated Series and its spin-off Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!, but this version will be a new iteration of the character.

One of the standout panels was "From Book, to Script, To Screen," where producers shared their journeys of successfully adapting novels into hit TV shows. Their stories of creativity and persistence were truly inspiring. Paul had the opportunity to interview Tom Blyth and Donald De Line from the MGM+ show Billy the Kid. Their conversation delved into the making of the show and the challenges they faced. Mike attended the panel for Resident Alien, which featured star Alan Tudyk. Mike provides an in-depth look at the panel discussion and Tudyk's engaging presence. Mike also attended a panel for showrunners, while Paul explored the art of monologues in Mike Flanagan's work. These sessions offered valuable insights into different aspects of TV production and storytelling. The day concluded with Pod Clubhouse's exciting evening at a reception arranged by Universal Studio Group. By all accounts, "Resident Alien" from NBC Universal has been a hit. The Alan Tudyk-led dramedy, which airs on the SyFy channel, has found a loyal fanbase that appears to be growing now that the first two seasons are streaming on Netflix. This series, based on the Dark Horse comic of the same name, differs slightly from its source material by incorporating witty humor to capitalize on Tudyk's unique talents as a comedian. While it's fair to say he anchors the show with a complex and often hilarious portrayal of the titular alien, the rest of the cast also brings their A-game. Combined with this talented cast, show creator and executive producer Chris Sheridan, along with the writing team and directors he's brought in, show a clear passion for the story and characters that inhabit the small Colorado town of Patience, which serves as a charming backdrop for all sorts of weird extraterrestrial shenanigans. Jace, from The Comic Source, had a chance to chat with Chris Sheridan, Sara Tomko (who plays Asta Twelvetrees), and Corey Reynolds (who plays Sheriff Mike Thompson) at the recent Wondercon Convention. Their thoughts about creating the show were insightful and we especially loved the story about what a fan had to say about their own PTSD after watching a pivotal scene.
This week, we get a TUDYK!!! We discuss the ultimate in misunderstanding centric horror, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil! Chase believes it is primo horror comedy. Will Bryce agree? Naminspace.
What can one say about Rogue One that hasn't already been said. Releasing almost a year after The Force Awakens, anticipation was high for the franchise's first theatrical spinoff attempt. Nowadays I can't remember if going into the theater, everyone knew the story would be about how the rebels managed to steal the plans for the Death Star. I seem to remember the plot to the DOOM clone Dark Forces involved kidnapping the character General Nadine (who would be seen on screen for the first time in a terrible fake beard in Return of the Jedi). I'm most likely wrong but, I vaguely remember that the reason Kyle Katarn kidnaps Nadine is because he's the one Imperial who defects and helps the fledgling alliance steal the plans in the first place. Kyle Katarn is also the first character in the Star Wars Universe to utilize the now legendary Bryar Pistol that Cassian Andor also carries as his sidearm. The impetus for the film originates in a throw away line in A New Hope. We all know Leia hides the plans for the Death Star in R2-D2 but, we never learn how she came to acquire them until now. We learn the weakness in the Death Star was a design flaw engineered by it's captive creator Galen Erso portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen. Excellent performance by an excellent actor who at this point in his career, has portrayed more villains than heroes. Here he does a great job and with the death of wife Lyra, his character has all the motivation he needs to plot his revenge over the twenty plus years of construction of the deadliest weapon every conceived. I think by far everyone's favorite character ending up being K-2SO portrayed by Alan Tudyk. Even though he's portraying a droid, there was more humanity in the lines delivered by Tudyk's motion capped performance than the rest of cast combined. Of course it was also really cool to see Darth Vader in a movie other than the the original trilogy. James Earl Jones does a great job with his limited lines. Director Krennic portrayed by Ben Mendelsohn also does a fantastic job portraying an evil character. I think it was Chris Stuckmann who really loved how Mendelsohn chewed the scenery and went FULL EVIL VILLAIN in the scenes he was in. Well done to the casting director that hired him. My favorite scene was of course the naval battle at the end. Especially when Admiral Raddus notices the disabled Star Destroyer and uses Hammerhead Corvette to ram it which then turn it into a giant needle to pierce through the planetary shield protecting Scarif. Awesome sequence! I loved every second of it. Thank you for listening to this Special Edition of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast. Original Date: September 26, 2016Recorded a few days early, this week's show truly has something for everyone, and if anyone claims it doesn't, we hope they feel better soon! True gentleman and outstanding filmmaker Curtis Hanson is remembered in “Celebrity Deaths”. The Emmy Awards, and especially Jimmy Kimmel's performance hosting them, are discussed. The Colin Kaepernick National Anthem protest saga is re-visited in the wake of more African-American deaths at the hands of police and in the wake of Kaepernick's Time Magazine cover being released. And this week, the conversation inspired by Kaepernick's protest goes in many unexpected, inspired and even hilarious directions – from sensitivity training, to Swedish massages, to the lyrics of “America the Beautiful.” That patriotic tune and the national anthem are far from the only songs discussed this week as Dean and Phil get downright musical while following up on Phil's tirade from last week about “nostalgia” with a “Live Event of the Week” that features musical acts Hall & Oates, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews & Orleans Avenue, and the powerful Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. In fact, they even preview the new album from Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam! Then, Dean and Phil comfort each other in the wake of Brad Pitt's divorce from Angelina Jolie, and they wonder why the hell anyone cares about it in the first place … Finally, “What We're Reading” becomes the “Explanation of the Week” as Phil goes all “patronus charm” on an email from a listener like you (yes, YOU) criticizing his critique of the first two “Harry Potter” movies. EXPELLIARUMS! All in all in, it may be one of the best installments of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour ever and after almost ten years, how many podcasts could claim that? Your friends in podcasting, STILL changing the way people listen to the internet …

I KNOW, that you all think that Alan Tudyk is an acting stud! If you don't think that, then we don't believe that we can be your friend.......Alright, I guess if you're not a Tudyk fan, we'll forgive you! BUT, our next topic is pretty much ALL about the Tudyk!! Lately Alan has been strecthing his acting chops, in the voice acting realm, but this is a little bit of a departure from that. We are, of course talking about the hilarious series on the Syfy channel, Resident Alien! On his way to destroy the earth, Captain Hah Re (Alan Tudyk) accidentally crashes his ship, on the planet! He ends up crashing near a home, out in the middle of nowhere, killing the owner, and taking over his body. NOW, he has assumed the identity of Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, who has been asked to take over, as the town doctor! Not only that, but there is one kid in the town, that somehow, has the ability to see Hah Re, in his true form as an alien. The child's attempts to kill Hah Re, end in pure hilarity, with Hah Re ALSO trying to kill this innocent child. This is definitely worth the watch everyone, if you haven't seen it already! Tudyk is the creator and star of the record breaking web series, “Con Man.”Executive produced by Tudyk, Nathan Fillion and author PJ Haarsma, the series was funded via Indiegogo, resulting in a record-breaking $3.2 million donation which had the support of over 46,000 fans from around the world. The second season of the series debuted on Lionsgate’s Comic-Con HQ on December 8th. Loosely based on Tudyk’s and Fillion’s experiences starring in “Firefly,” “Con Man” centers on the post-show life of ‘Wray Nerely’ (Tudyk), the co-star of “Spectrum,” a sci-fi TV series canceled before its time that later became a cult classic beloved by fans. ‘Wray’s’ best friend, ‘Jack Moore’ (Fillion) starred as the series’ Captain and has gone on to become a major celebrity, while ‘Wray’ continues to struggle to find his big break. While ‘Jack’ enjoys the life of an A-lister, ‘Wray’ is the begrudging guest of sci-fi conventions, comic book store appearances and different pop culture events. The series explores these events and all the crazy and real things that happen behind the scenes in the world of fandom. Tudyk has shown audiences wide versatility in numerous television shows and a plethora of feature films. Most recently he co-starred inthe Jay Roach 2015 SAG Award nominated feature “Trumbo,” opposite Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, John Goodman, Louie CK, Michael Stuhlbarg and Stephen Root as well as 2014’s “Welcome to Me” with Kristin Wiig. In 2013, Tudyk co-starred in the well-received Jackie Robinson biopic, “42,” as former Phillies manager ‘Ben Chapman.’ He made his feature film debut in 1998, when he first appeared opposite Robin Williams in “Patch Adams.” Tudyk’s role in the Disney’s animated feature, “Wreck it Ralph,” garnered him an Annie Award for his role as ‘King Candy.’ He returned to the recording booth to voice ‘The Duke of Weaselton’ in Disney’s Academy Award-winning “Frozen.” He continued his work with Disney Animation Studios voicing ‘Alister Krei’ in “Big Hero 6” and will reprise his role in the upcoming “Big Hero 6” television series on Disney XD. He can also be heard as ‘Ludo’ and ‘King Butterfly’ on the Disney Channel series, “Star vs. the Forces of Evil,” which had its second season premiere on July 11th. Tudyk has also done voice work for many other features, television shows and video games. His film credits also include: “Wonder Boys,” “28 Days,” “A Knight’s Tale,” “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,” “Death at a Funeral” (the original UK version), “Knocked Up,” “Tucker and Dale vs Evil,” “3:10 to Yuma,” “Serenity,” “Premature,” “Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter,” and “Transformers 3.” Additionally, Tudyk motion performed the lead robot, ‘Sonny,’ in “I, Robot” opposite Will Smith. In television, Tudyk was a series regular on the critically acclaimed ABC comedy, “Suburgatory” and he reprised his role in the Netflix revival of “Arrested Development” as ‘Pastor Veal.’ His work on Joss Whedon’s “Firefly,” has been highly lauded by fans and has gained him a strong cult following. Tudyk also appeared in “Strangers with Candy,” “Dollhouse,” “Frasier,” and “Justified.” He also was the host of “Newsreaders,” written and produced by Rob Corddry and David Wain, on Adult Swim. Tudyk attended the prestigious Juilliard School in New York and has starred on Broadway opposite Kristin Chenoweth in “Epic Proportions,” played ‘Lancelot’ with the original cast in Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” as well as the lead role of ‘Peter’ in “Prelude to a Kiss” opposite John Mahoney.

Backyennew says his son already regularly played Minecraft with his friends, so it quickly became their go-to hangout after the Japanese government closed schools two weeks ago in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Using it as a social space to hold their own graduation ceremony just made sense. It looks like these kids built a whole dang assembly hall, complete with a stage, seating, and a proper red carpet which they could all walk down in order to receive their virtual diplomas. The backdrop is even emblazoned with the word "Summer," just to reinforce the end-of-school vibes. Japanese netizens seemed to feel the same way with their comments:“The kids are all right.”“Parents are doing ‘telework’ and kids are doing ‘telegraduation.'”“I’m so jealous of what awesome things kids have these day.”“Those who say video games are bad, look at this!”“This will probably be an even better memory than a regular graduation for them.”16 March 2020 – Sonic beats Detective Pikachu…in the box office - https://movieweb.com/sonic-the-hedgehog-video-game-movies-box-office/Sonic the Hedgehog has managed to claim a record by becoming the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time, at least at the domestic box-office. The Paramount production currently stands at a little above $145 million dollars domestic collection. This puts it slightly ahead of Detective Pikachu, which managed to make around $144 million domestically. However, Detective Pikachu is still ahead of Sonic the Hedgehog in international territories, with earnings of over $400 million dollars. The future of video game movies appears to be looking bright now, with the medium finally being considered seriously by big Hollywood studios which are willing to allocate huge budgets and significant star power to those projects.16 March 2020 – Steam hits 20 million concurrent users - https://www.pcgamesn.com/steam/20-million-users-coronavirusThe precise number being 20,313,451. Curiously, though 20 million is the highest since records began, the number of in-game players is yet to break records. It appears a lot of users are idling in their library, browsing the store, or have just left it running in the background. The top game as we speak is CS:GO at 971k, followed by Dota 2 with 616k and PUBG at 264k. The 14 million difference between those logged into Steam and those playing is substantial, but this record at least points to continued growth for Valve’s platform. Increased competition from companies like Epic doesn’t appear to have caused any major issues, though Fortnite did once beat Steam’s in-game player record all on its own.Remembrances16 March 1935 – John Macleod - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Macleod_(physiologist)John James Rickard Macleod, Scottish biochemist and physiologist. He devoted his career to diverse topics in physiology and biochemistry, but was chiefly interested in carbohydrate metabolism. He is noted for his role in the discovery and isolation of insulin during his tenure as a lecturer at the University of Toronto, for which he and Frederick Banting received the 1923 Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine. Awarding the prize to Macleod was controversial at the time, because according to Banting's version of events, Macleod's role in the discovery was negligible. It was not until decades after the events that an independent review acknowledged a far greater role than was attributed to him at first. He died after suffering from several years of arthritis at the age of 58 in Aberdeen.16 March 2012 – Donald E. Hillman - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_E._HillmanDonald Edison Hillman, American World War II flying ace and prisoner of war credited with five enemy aircraft destroyed. He was also the first American pilot, in 1952, to make a deep-penetration overflight of Soviet territory for the purpose of aerial reconnaissance. He flew a Boeing B-47B Stratojet which left Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. It crossed over the Arctic ocean, turned eastwards back over Siberia, and returned to Eielson via Provideniya. It was the United States' first deep-penetration reconnaissance mission against the Soviet Union. He died at the age of 93 in Seattle, Washington.16 March 2016 – Alexander Esenin-Volpin - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Esenin-VolpinAlexander Sergeyevich Esenin-Volpin, Russian-American poet and mathematician. A notable dissident, political prisoner and a leader of the Soviet human rights movement, he spent a total of six years incarcerated and repressed by the Soviet authorities in psikhushkas and exile. In mathematics, he is known for his foundational role in ultrafinitism. His early work was in general topology, where he introduced Esenin-Volpin's theorem. Most of his later work was on the foundations of mathematics, where he introduced ultrafinitism, an extreme form of constructive mathematics that casts doubt on the existence of not only infinite sets, but even of large integers such as 1012. He died at the age of 91 in Boston.Famous Birthdays16 March 1774 – Captain Matthew Flinders - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_FlindersEnglish navigator and cartographer who led the second circumnavigation of New Holland that he would subsequently call "Australia or Terra Australis" and identified it as a continent. Flinders made three voyages to the Southern Ocean between 1791 and 1810. In the second voyage, George Bass and Flinders confirmed that Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania) was an island. In the third voyage, Flinders circumnavigated the mainland of what was to be called Australia, accompanied by Aboriginal man Bungaree. Heading back to England in 1803, Flinders' vessel needed urgent repairs at Isle de France (Mauritius). Although Britain and France were at war, Flinders thought the scientific nature of his work would ensure safe passage, but a suspicious governor kept him under arrest for more than six years. In captivity, he recorded details of his voyages for future publication, and put forward his rationale for naming the new continent 'Australia', as an umbrella term for New Holland and New South Wales – a suggestion taken up later by Governor Macquarie. He was born in Donington, Lincolnshire.16 March 1840 – Shibusawa Eiichi - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibusawa_EiichiShibusawa Eiichi, 1st Viscount Shibusawa, Japanese industrialist widely known today as the "father of Japanese capitalism". He spearheaded the introduction of Western capitalism to Japan after the Meiji Restoration. He introduced many economic reforms including use of double-entry accounting, joint-stock corporations and modern note-issuing banks. He founded the first modern bank based on joint stock ownership in Japan. The bank was aptly named The First National Bank (Dai Ichi Kokuritsu Ginkō, now merged into Mizuho Bank) and had the power to issue its own notes. Through this bank, he founded hundreds of other joint stock corporations in Japan. Many of these companies still survive to this day as quoted companies in the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which Shibusawa also founded. The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded by him as well. He was also involved in the foundation of many hospitals, schools, universities (including the first women's university), the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo and charitable organizations including the Japan Red Cross. On April 9, 2019, it was announced that Eiichi would be the historical figure featured on Japanese ¥10000 banknotes expected to enter circulation around 2024. He was born in Fukaya, Saitama.16 March 1856 – Napoléon, Prince Imperial - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napol%C3%A9on,_Prince_ImperialNapoléon Eugène Louis Jean Joseph Bonaparte, prince imperial, the only child of Emperor Napoleon III and his wife, Eugénie de Montijo. After his father was dethroned in 1870, he relocated with his family to England. On his father's death in January 1873, he was proclaimed by the Bonapartist faction as Napoleon IV, Emperor of the French. The asteroid moon Petit-Prince was named after the Prince Imperial in 1998, because it orbits an asteroid named after his mother (45 Eugenia). He was born in Paris, French Empire.16 March 1936 – Raymond Damadian - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_DamadianRaymond Vahan Damadian, American physician, medical practitioner, and inventor of the first MR (Magnetic Resonance) Scanning Machine. Damadian's research into sodium and potassium in living cells led him to his first experiments with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) which caused him to first propose the MR body scanner in 1969. Damadian discovered that tumors and normal tissue can be distinguished in vivo by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) because of their prolonged relaxation times, both T1 (spin-lattice relaxation) or T2 (spin-spin relaxation). Damadian was the first to perform a full body scan of a human being in 1977 to diagnose cancer. Damadian invented an apparatus and method to use NMR safely and accurately to scan the human body, a method now well known as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He went on to collaborate with Wilson Greatbach, one early developer of the implantable pacemaker, to develop an MRI-compatible pacemaker. He was born in New York City, New York.16 March 1971 – Alan Tudyk - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_TudykAlan Wray Tudyk, American actor and voice actor. He is known for his roles as Hoban "Wash" Washburne in the space western series Firefly and the film Serenity and Tucker McGee in Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. He has also had starring roles in the films DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,I, Robot,A Knight's Tale, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Rogue One. Since voicing King Candy in 2012's Wreck-It Ralph, Tudyk has voiced characters in every Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film. He wrote, directed, and starred in the comedy web series Con Man (2015–17) about a struggling actor whose career is still defined by a successful science fiction TV show he was once on, loosely based on Tudyk's own experience having been on Firefly. The series aired on Syfy in 2017 and earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. As of 2019, Tudyk plays the main antagonist, Mr. Nobody, in the DC Universe series Doom Patrol. He was born in El Paso, Texas.Events of Interest16 March 1926 – First liquid-fueled rocket - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/first-liquid-fueled-rocketAmerican Robert H. Goddard, successfully launches the world’s first liquid-fueled rocket at Auburn, Massachusetts, on March 16, 1926. The rocket traveled for 2.5 seconds at a speed of about 60 mph, reaching an altitude of 41 feet and landing 184 feet away. The rocket was 10 feet tall, constructed out of thin pipes, and was fueled by liquid oxygen and gasoline. His work was recognized by the aviator Charles A. Lindbergh, who helped secure him a grant from the Guggenheim Fund for the Promotion of Aeronautics. Using these funds, Goddard set up a testing ground in Roswell, New Mexico, which operated from 1930 until 1942. During his tenure there, he made 31 successful flights, including one of a rocket that reached 1.7 miles off the ground in 22.3 seconds. Meanwhile, while Goddard conducted his limited tests without official U.S. support, Germany took the initiative in rocket development and by September 1944 was launching its V-2 guided missiles against Britain to devastating effect. During the war, Goddard worked in developing a jet-thrust booster for a U.S. Navy seaplane. He would not live to see the major advances in rocketry in the 1950s and ’60s that would make his dreams of space travel a reality. NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, is named in his honor.16 March 1968 – My Lai Masscre - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/my-lai-massacre-takes-place-in-vietnamA platoon of American soldiers brutally kills as many as 500 unarmed civilians at My Lai, one of a cluster of small villages located near the northern coast of South Vietnam. The crime, which was kept secret for nearly two years, later became known as the My Lai Massacre. a platoon of soldiers from Charlie Company received word that Viet Cong guerrillas had taken cover in the Quang Ngai village of Son My. The platoon entered one of the village’s four hamlets, My Lai 4, on a search-and-destroy mission on the morning of March 16. Instead of guerrilla fighters, they found unarmed villagers, most of them women, children and old men. The soldiers had been advised before the attack by army command that all who were found in My Lai could be considered VC or active VC sympathizers, and were told to destroy the village. the massacre reportedly ended when an Army helicopter pilot, Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson, landed his aircraft between the soldiers and the retreating villagers and threatened to open fire if they continued their attacks. The events at My Lai were covered up by high-ranking army officers until investigative journalist Seymour Hersh broke the story. Soon, My Lai was front-page news and an international scandal.16 March 2001 – Terminator has a rare theatrical re-release -https://www.scifihistory.net/march-16.htmlOn this day in 2001, The Terminator enjoyed a rare theatrical re-release in the United Kingdom. Welcome to Episode 182 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR’s have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, an unusual power trio of Geeks (Mitch, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) are back in the space known as Davey Jones Locker, formerly known as the Quantum Realm, to discuss all things geek. After technical difficulties, we're back! There is an episode out there in the consciousness that we wanted to publish, but it eluded us. So, we tried again a week later and here it is. If a memory device that can extract the info from our heads, then we'll release that cut. think Johnny Mnemonic. Have you watch the new Harley Quinn show on DCU? Its so much fun to watch, though the language and violence, even for a cartoon, can be a little jarring. However, the show is still very light and fun and follows Harley as she tries to establish her persona sans Joker, and earn a spot in the Legion of Doom (LoD). The voices should be familiar to you, as Tudyk does Joker and Clayface, and is joined by people like Tony Hale, James Adomian and Ron Funches. Next, we switch to CW, since Crisis united ALL DC content! We talk about Arrow and how it treated Oliver's death especially since it didn't even happen on an Arrow episode!! Arrow's finale did feature a possibility of Diggle becoming a Green Lantern in a future CW show. This could be very exciting! Finally, Picard is out. If you don't have CBS streaming app, then maybe wait till the show is near the end and get the free trial. The series started out great, and definitely will continue to feature themes revolving around synthetic life. All sorts of past characters make an appearance so check it out if thats your thing. This cult classic, written and directed by Eli Craig, took me by surprise. I remember seeing the trailer and thinking, "okay, all of the best parts surely had to be in the trailer." Then I saw the film and saw that it was more than a simple spoof, offering some legitimate laughs and a solid understanding of horror tropes. The film stars both Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine as the titular Tucker and Dale. You might remember Tudyk from his work as Wash in Firefly or the plethora of characters he has voiced for DC Comics including: Green Arrow, Superman, Clayface, and The Flash. He was also the only redeeming part of Rogue One, according to Jake, in his portrayal of sassy robot: K-2SO. Labine is no stranger to horror comedies, given that he has starred in Reaper, Deadbeat, and Dead Last. Both men went on to appear in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. The "College Kids" that litter the film are played by various actors I am too lazy to look up, even to add metadata to this stupid description for the sake of SEO content. They encapsulate all of the awful tropes about coeds that make you root for slashers to slay them indiscriminately. Through a series of misunderstandings, that are directly addressed within the film, the kids mistake the good-natured rednecks for mutant inbred deviant murderers. There is even a twist! Oh-- BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY THERE IS A CUTE DOG! The "Hidden Track" this week is Gyrojets with their song "Pieces. https://gyrojets.bandcamp.com/ If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. It's been a little over a year since Warner Brothers launched their superhero based streaming service, DC Universe. And in that times, they've had plenty of ups ("Doom Patrol", "Swamp Thing"), as well as a few lows ("Titans" Season One, as well as the unceremonious cancellation of "Swamp Thing"). This week, they've launched their latest show, the very adults-only animated "Harley Quinn", featuring the voice talents of Kaley Cuocco, Alan Tudyk, Diedrich Bader, and many more? Listen in as Jake and Tom give their spoiler-free review of the show's first episode, as well as what they think is in store for the service's future! And, as always, be sure to help Jake and Tom in their quest for world domination by rating them highly on Apple Podcasts, following them on Twitter, joining in on the conversation over on their Facebook group, "Jake and Tom Conquer the Group", listening to Tom's side gig over on "Someone's Favorite Movie Podcast" (hosted by friend of the show, Randy Perkins), and by supporting all of the great shows brought to you by their partners in internet radio, Geeks Worldwide! Jimmy covered the press room for Syfy's upcoming show Resident Alien. Attending cast/producers were Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Chris Sheridan, and Peter Hogan! Based on the comic of the same name from Dark Horse Comics, how true to it does it remain? How does the show balance the humor and sci-fi? What did Tudyk do to find his character? When we say we’re doing a whole episode on a voice actor, you might be like, “Angela and Joe...I’ve supported you through some strange episode ideas, but one based on some dude I don’t even know...I don’t know if I can follow you here.” If you don’t already know, I’ll assure you he isn’t just a voice actor. Alan Tudyk is THE voice actor. A former student at the prestigious Julliard, Tudyk has played iconic characters in AI (Sonny), Dodgeball: An Underdog Story (Steve the Pirate), A Knight’s Tale (Wat), and his most recognizable role in the cult classic, Firefly (as Hoban “Wash” Washburne). But lately, he’s been doing some serious work for Disney. He’s voiced over 8 different characters since 2012 from Wreck It Ralph’s bumbling villain, King Candy (which he received a voice actor award for) to Moana’s lovable and unexpected sidekick, Heihei. We try to rank the movies/roles, but honestly, it’s hard...he’s so talented. Whether you were unaware of his talent before listening to this or not, you’ll definitely be searching for his name in the credits when you see the next big Disney flick. Thanks for lending us your ears! If you feel so inclined, check us out on Facebook or Instagram. As always, have a magical week! Welcome to Episode 157 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Jeff, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin), joined by Michael Jeffries, are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Back from a fun live show in Trinidad, we hunker down at our home base for more geekiness, starting with the ever great Doom Patrol. The season is almost over and so much is happening on the show. The last episode had a lot of ass in it, although probably not how you're thinking. Tudyk continues to dominate on this show, though everyone does a real good job. We started talking about Brendan Fraser movies, as we are wont to do. What's your favorite movie of his? The multiverse is a thing that is prevalent amongst Marvel offerings, most notably in the Spider-verse but also in Agents of Shield. The new season features all kinds of twists, and also its separate from the Thanos world we know. They apparently weren't told what would happen in the MCU so they have had to work around it. There is a Coulson doppelganger, named Sarge, and he seems bad. Real bad. What does this Multiverse mean for other Marvel properties? That led us into casting for X-men characters, because they have to show up at some point. Who would be a good new Wolverine? We list a bunch of choices, so feel free to let us know which is your choice. We're thinking someone about 5'3" and you wouldn't believe the actors of that height. We finish up with small segment of Broadcast Sneaks, giving you what you need to know for your footwear needs. You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Starring Ash Blodgett, Bret Eagleston, Samantha Willson, and Patrick Edwards.

We're gonna wreck it! It's what we do here on the show, we're going to wreck Wreck-it Ralph and let you in on some little known background information that is the keystone to understanding the true perpetrators when it comes to the good vs. bad labels. Ralph sets out to prove that he is a true hero with a big heart. There might still be time to get some of the deals we launched in your direction: www.actualanarchy.com/deals Come back next week where we have the Anarchist Mom on to discuss the Lord of the Rings Trilogy! Show notes and more: www.actualanarchy.com/104 Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.com Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. Denver Comic Con EXCLUSIVE panel with Alan Tudyk
Disney's Oscar-winning 2013 cultural sensation "Frozen," that created ear-worm songs for annoyed parents everywhere, is already considered a classic piece of Disney animation, rivaling the likes of "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King," and has critics and moviegoers spewing nonsense about how its message is progressive and fresh when it's actually regressive and spoiled. The flimsy, sloppy, incoherent plot is as follow: When their kingdom becomes trapped in perpetual winter, Princess Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell) joins forces with ice salesman Kristoff (voiced by Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer sidekick to find Anna's sister, Snow Queen Elsa (voiced by Adele Dazeem, er, Idina Menzel), to try and break her icy spell that she accidentally cast on everyone. Although their journey leads them to encounters with kidnapping trolls, an undead snowman (creepily voiced Josh Gad), harsh conditions, and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff push onward in a race to save their kingdom from winter's cold grip. Um, yeah. We also get a fair share of Nordic stereotypes, skitzo characters, catchy songs that make no sense contextually to the plot, and unearned villainous turns. Join us as Keating talks about how Olaf haunts his dreams, we realize Jim’s amazing ability to point out when characters look like Ron Jeremy, and as we discuss Brad Pitt’s former plans to create the 9/11 Memorial. Welcome to the Red X Podcast’s first episode, “Sharks with Badges”! Lance Olive introduces the very first episode and raises the curtains on plans for this anti-human trafficking podcast. The goal is to empower you, the listener to become knowledgeable about the issue of trafficking and to help you connect with your local municipality as well as local organizations to give prevent victimization and to give survivors second chances. New episodes will be published every couple of weeks and you can give feedback here, on our website. Lance introduces, Nicole Bernard, the director of Second Life North Carolina who will be hosting. Nicole is the mother of four. She initially learned about human trafficking on the international scale but discovered that trafficking was happening in her own community about five years ago. Nicole served Transforming Hope Ministries, which has now merged with Second Life North Carolina. Lance, the Mayor of Apex, NC and host of the Apex Roundup Podcast, reminds the listener that the topic of human trafficking can be massive and that attending conferences or seminars can leave us overwhelmed and wondering what can be done. This podcast is designed to help the listener to be able to approach the topic of trafficking in “bite sizes” so that you can easily introduce the issue to friends, family, neighbors and co-workers easily and encourage action at a local level. Lance has known about human trafficking for years but for him personally, his knowledge crossed the threshold, pushing him to action in 2017. Lance’s sister had first brought trafficking to his attention in sharing her stories of trafficking in Africa, where she was involved in ministry. He also heard Ellen Blair from Partners Against Trafficking Humans in North Carolina present at a Rotary Club meeting. Lance was shocked to learn that a pimp and a victim can be out in public together and the majority of people would not be able to identify the dynamic of their relationship. So many of us could see it right in front of us but not be able to respond to it for lack of recognition. And then, Lance’s daughter-in-law’s mother asked him if he would meet another Apex citizen, Whitney Ludlow, who was active in the fight against human trafficking. That’s also where he met Nicole and what sprang from that initial meeting was a discussion with the chief of police and local victim advocate to create a proclamation for a week-long awareness campaign. Each week, the hosts will share a random fact about themselves. Lance admits that he likes to take walks downtown in Apex around midnight. He says it’s almost like a different town at that hour, picturesque like a postcard. Also, each episode will begin with an icebreaker. This week, Lance asks Nicole questions about the largest grossing film of all time, Frozen. Did you know that the voice of the Duke of Weselton is the same voice of the Zooptopia character, also named the Duke of Weselton. The voices of the two characters don’t sound anything alike even though they are both from actor, Alan Tutyc who some might recognize from the Firefly Series. Some other interesting Frozen facts for the listener—did you know that Frozen’s Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna includes some “easter eggs”? There’s a Mickey Mouse hiding on the shelf and a Monster’s Inc figurine on the counter. Nicole reports on a recent nationwide sting called Operation Crosscountry that was led by the FBI and recovered 82 juveniles and 120 perpetrators. The average age for the victims was 15 and included a three-month old and her 5 year old sister who were sold for $600 to an FBI agent by a family friend in Colorado. Three of the victims were from North Carolina. Colorado DA, George Bachler wanted to remind traffickers that his office is ready for them. He throws down the gauntlet and says, “To those out there who are watching this who might avail themselves at the opportunity to exploit children or to engage in even the adult sex trade, this is a bit of a warning. … The people that you can’t see behind those cameras, they are fins. They are fins in the water and they represent sharks who are there all the time.” “And my advice to you is to stay out of those waters where the kids are, to stay out of those waters where exploited adults are for sex, because they are out there and they will get you. And when they get you, my office will handle the rest.”” Just a few months ago, the National Johns Suppression Initiative helped conduct a month-long series of stings. 1,020 buyers were identified, of those 15 were traffickers. There’s a lot to unpack from this operation. How did these victims become victims and why do they not always willingly leave? Who is luring these children and adults into the sex trade and who is buying? Lance loves that the undercover cameras are like shark fins and that the real teeth behind the operation is just below surface. But likewise, the recovered victims and perpetrators are much like an iceberg—we know there’s a lot more to uncover and that they represent multiple times the amount that can be seen. There are still a lot of decisions to be made for the podcast. Nicole and Lance decide to do the Red X Podcast on a bi-weekly schedule and will interview key players in the anti-trafficking fight in future episodes. Lance especially wants to interview a former trafficker who has paid his dues and has changed his ways. How does someone get to the point that they are willing to sell another human being for profit? But also, Nicole and Lance hope to have a guest who will be able to answer the questions of how someone gets coerced into trafficking, why they do not get out and if they do, what would they go back into the industry? The answers to those complex questions will likewise be complicated. The hosts also hope to include investigators and detectives who are involved in the sting operations as well as other citizens who are likely to interface with victims such as tattoo parlor artists who often “brand” victims, medical professionals, and school counselors. The Red X podcast will also invite hosts who are able to speak to new anti-human trafficking legislation and trafficking prevalence and statistics. Lance Olive will serve to engineer, publish, post the podcast each week, Nicole will provide the content, and schedule new interesting guests to interview. These show notes will be available after each episode. And each episode will end with a review of what the hosts learned to help the listener compare what he or she might have learned. Nicole learned that the podcast will be published bi-weekly and Lance learned that there are shark fins in the water surrounding this crim. Bad guys might be alluding the police right now, but it’s a matter of time. Together, citizens can work together to make it difficult for this crime to exist in the community where they are. To learn more, until the next podcast, watch I Am Jane Doe a documentary about the fight against Backpage.com, which is free on Netflix. Also check out Renting Lacy, which is a great intro into understand how girls get groomed to be victims You can follow the Red X Podcast of facebook and twitter. Red X Podcast Out.
Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective
We race to the train station on 3:10 to Yuma, the Russell Crowe and Christian Bale morality western about outlaws and bandits. Special guest, Douglas Gregory of HQATL (https://hqatl.com/) and writer at the Actual Anarchy site joins us for a spirited discussion. The Google Description: Outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) terrorizes 1800s Arizona, especially the Southern Railroad, until he is finally captured. Wade must be brought to trial, so Dan Evans (Christian Bale), the owner of a drought-stricken ranch, volunteers to escort him to the train. Along the trail, a grudging respect forms between the men, but danger looms at every turn, and the criminal's men are in pursuit. Who's right, who's wrong, who knows? Movie Meltdown - Episode 376 (For our Patreon supporters.) This week is a multitude of things. First off... it's our anniversary. So as we celebrate crossing over into our 9th year of Movie Meltdown... we also return to our semi-annual tradition of getting together to celebrate - Life Day. And coincidentally, it also happens to mark the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. So what better time to kick-off our new, exclusive Patreon episodes then by gathering the gang together to eat Wookie cookies and discuss the latest Star Wars release. It sounds like a pretty great way to spend this holiday season. And as we realize we all want to live in a Ralph McQuarrie castle, we also mention... Tarkin, stealing the Hammerhead ships, creepy skin, as an insurgency, sliced and diced, General Dodonna, everything has to be displayed in a two-dimensional space, Wookie hairballs, it was baked in, the final act, two-fifths of me is here, a suicide mission, hot Vader action, super secret super weapon, moof-milker, setting the bar too high, hearing a scream in a movie theater, who was the bad guy?, the old butler, Frank's arm, the Alderaan mining explosions, the times they see him... it's run, the horrors committed by the military, It took a lot of people to put Luke into that X-wing, no title card for one very important planet, being mildly evil, it was nice to see Biggs, writing the score, Event Horizon... starring Darth Vader, beholden to 70's technology, the CG question, Doctor Aphra, jumping between scenes, space OSHA, Hogwarts, the U-wing starfighter, telling all the tangential stories, not aging well, Mustafar, it sounds like you're trying not to get a copyright infringement right now, who doesn't have robot arms, Red Leader and Gold Leader, architecture of the base, Orlando Bloom, a Jedi Scientologist, finding Chopper, Peter Cushing, a Force truther, Taken 2 and... I think that might be my favorite new theory. Spoiler Alert: Full spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. So go watch the movie before listening. You have been warned. ...we're just caught in the middle of this. We didn't cause it. We're not here to fix it. We're just going to be caught in it. And I like that idea of, they're just spectators to... the powder keg that just went off."
