Not to help anyone!--to keep a recently re-unioned American population from getting too drunk, too horny, and too gambly... What does it mean to live in harmony with nature? In this episode of Brown Enough, we head to the snow-covered trails of Utah to go dog sledding with Dana and Fernando, the founders of Rancho Luna Lobos. More than just a sled dog sanctuary, Rancho Luna Lobos is a way of life—rooted in respect, balance, and deep connection to the land and the animals that call it home. We talk about their journey, the wisdom they've gained from their dogs, and the lessons we can all learn about trust, leadership, and finding our place in the natural world.

This week, Scott sat down with his Lawfare colleagues Molly Reynolds and Kevin Frazier to discuss the week's big national security news, including:“Mike Drop (Almost).” While we are still two weeks away from having a new president, the 119th Congress is already underway. But there are signs of tension in the Republican majority controlling both chambers, with House Republicans (under pressure from former President Trump and adviser Elon Musk) having killed a leadership-negotiated compromise funding bill at the end of the last Congress and Speaker Mike Johnson just barely securing reelection by a single vote after some last minute wrangling within the Republican caucus. What do these recent events tell us about what we should expect over the next year?“Will Be Mild.” The Jan. 6 that passed earlier this week went very differently than the one four years ago, with Congress peacefully recognizing former President Trump's election back to the White House. How are the legacies of the Jan. 6 insurrection of 2021 winding to a close in 2025? And which seem likely to persist?“Missed Connections.” Finland received an unwelcome Christmas present this year, after a major undersea telecommunications cable was damaged by the anchor of a suspected Russian shadow ship, in an act some believe was deliberate. And Taiwan rang in the New Year in similar fashion, with a major undersea cable getting damaged by a China-associated vessel. What is behind this set of attacks? And what tools do the affected states have to defend themselves? In object lessons, Molly shared an excellent holiday tradition to keep in your back pocket for next year and all the years to come: a family time capsule. Scott shared his newly perfected cocktail recipe, a concoction he is calling the Little Palermo™ (see below). In this cheerful and cozy episode of Side Notes, Arch and Josh share stories of snowy adventures, sledding mishaps, and the joy (and chaos) of unexpected snow days with their kids. From homemade igloos in the cul-de-sac to powder-covered faces and a heartwarming dinner of chicken noodle soup, the duo captures the essence of winter fun and family life. They also reflect on the launch of their church's new series, 31, which focuses on reading a chapter of Proverbs each day in January to deepen one's relationship with God and foster community through Bible reading. Josh shares insights from his January 5th sermon on Proverbs 5, where he used a story about his sister to highlight how easy it is to drift from God's path in areas like health or finances. With encouragement to develop healthy habits and pursue wisdom in the new year, this episode blends humor, heart, and practical advice.

10 Family Activites to Have Quality Time if You Want to Simplify Your Life and Enjoy Slow Living Hello! Happy Friday! I hope you have enjoyed this week's tidbits every day!! Remember, you need to sign up before the end of the year to join our no spend challenge! This is the last podcast before Christmas and if you have some time off and want to focus on slower living and being more intentional, and simplifying family time, here are a few activities you could focus on doing if it is colder where you are at this time of the year! Take a Hike or Nature Walk: Explore the landscapes around your homestead or wherever you are-it is so important to get outside no matter what the weather is. It's a peaceful and beautiful way to connect with nature. Build a Snow Fort or Snowman if you have snow: Let your creative side shine by building a winter wonderland right in your backyard. Snow forts are not just for kids—adults can have a blast too! Quality time together is cherished by all. Ice Skating: If you have a frozen pond or a nearby rink, grab your skates and hit the ice. It's a great way to enjoy the season and get some exercise. This is an unusual winter here so far and I'm not sure we will have enough cold weather to skate this year, but there are places that also allow indoor ice skating, so that might be an option for you as well! Sledding or Tubing: Find a nearby hill and indulge in some classic sledding fun. It's a timeless activity that's bound to bring smiles and laughter. I know here they are making snow, so we might go tubing during our time off. Bonfire: Bundle up and gather around a bonfire with your family. Enjoy some relaxing time by the fire. Roast marshmallows, sip on hot cocoa if it is cold, and share stories to make it extra cozy. Snowshoeing: Explore the winter landscape on snowshoes. It's a wonderful way to get some exercise while enjoying the serene beauty of the snow-covered outdoors. Picnic: Pack a thermos of hot soup, some sandwiches, and your favorite winter snacks. Find a scenic spot, lay down a blanket, and enjoy a winter picnic with your family. Indoor Movie Night: For those extra chilly days, snuggle up indoors with a family movie night. Pop some popcorn, grab blankets, and enjoy a movie marathon. Play Board Games: One of my favorite activities, but we seem to do more when it is cold outside! Baking or Cooking: Not only will you be spending quality time together, but you will be teaching life lessons, so this is crucial to your family's future! Remember, the key is to savor the simplicity of these moments and create lasting memories. Happy winter adventures and Merry Merry Christmas! Enjoy celebrating our Savior's Birthday! Blessings!
