It's not surprising that Houston Dynamo FC have parted with a large number of players from the unsuccessful 2022 squad. But are they moving too slowly to shape the 2023 team? Laura Gomez and Victor Araiza address what changes have and haven't gone down in Houston yet, and try to find a silver lining in what has been maybe a quieter period than some expected. Among the topics covered: Ben Bartlett's hiring as Director of Methodology: What does it mean, and what impact could it have? Are the two Dynamo players added so far likely to have a real impact? How did Hectors Herra's performance with the Mexico national team in Qatar. Sports editor Will Clark is back alongside Andrew Henderson and that means there are discussions aplenty - about Inverness Caledonian Thistle's Scottish Cup exit, about whether Ross County can come up with a repeat of their 5-0 demolition away at Dundee on home turf and just how open the Highland League title race is. We hear from a furious Billy Dodds just after the final whistle at Cappielow, Ross County assistant manager Don Cowie and winger Regan Charles-Cook and Clachnacuddin manager Jordan MacDonald in this episode, which also covers the North Caledonian League Inverness derby - that will actually take place in Inverness - between Loch Ness and Inverness Athletic. That's not all, as we briefly look at a busy period for Highland Boxing Academy that included Ben Bartlett extended his professional record to 3-0 in his Highland homecoming, and the final rugby matches of 2021 at Highland, Ross Sutherland and Inverness Craig Dunain. Let us know what you make of the show, or get in touch with questions, on Twitter (@Balls_Whistles) or by emailing ballsandwhistles@hnmedia.co.uk, and thanks as always are due to Forest Fires for our theme song Scared of the Dark. Andrew is on his own again, so it's time to hear some of the interviews that are behind the content in this week's newspapers! We kick off this episode by hearing from Ross County striker Dominic Samuel in the aftermath of the Staggies' 0-0 draw against St Mirren on Wednesday night, also looking ahead to their trip to St Johnstone tomorrow where County could move out of the relegation zone. While Ross County are looking to move off the bottom of the table, Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women still have eyes on the top of the Championship North. They play their last home match of 2021 against Buchan this Sunday knowing that every point will be crucial as they try to hunt down leaders Montrose - who have only just shown their first signs of vulnerability. To rugby, where Highland are also in action at Canal Park for the last time this year. Their opponents are Kelso, who scored a 40-point victory over Dave Carson's men at the start of the season, but with a stronger squad with players back from injury they will be hoping for a very different outcome this time around. Ross Sutherland hope to finally return to action after an extended lay-off, and they will fancy their chances against Caledonia North Two leaders Moray after feeling they should have had greater rewards from their meeting in Invergordon earlier this season. That's not all, though, as we also hear from professional boxer Ben Bartlett ahead of his homecoming in Inverness tomorrow night, and there is a bonus Rainbow Laces interview with Inverness Craig Dunain RFC's women's team vice-captain Erin Green. Get in touch with the show on Twitter (@Balls_Whistles) or by emailing ballsandwhistles@hnmedia.co.uk, and thanks as always are due to Forest Fires for our theme song Scared of the Dark. We had a great time talking to the creative duo behind the Toking with the Dead website, comic book, podcast, video series, etc. Jeff Homan and Ben Bartlett have created an empire out of the Toking with the Dead comic book. They describe it as "An educational experience of medicinal cannabis and its unique effects using zombies as the test subjects." In this interview we talk about how this all started and their amazing business model that brings everyone in. We truly had a blast interviewing these guys, and didn't stop laughing through the interview. These guys both have a great sense of humor but are definitely serious about having a fun, exciting comic, along with podcast and videos. Just a word of warning, the guys use some "colorful" language and there are definitely more "F" bombs in this interview than in the whole history of the True Fiction shows. But doesn't stop this episode from being full of great information and humor. After checking out this podcast, go visit their website at https://stilltoking.com

Ben Bartlett is widely considered one of the best coach educators in the business. He spent over 10 years as a coach educator at the FA before taking up the role of head of coaching at the Fulham Academy a year ago. Technical problems robbed us of some minutes, but as you would expect from Ben, there is plenty of thoughtfulness in this 26 minutes to be worth a listen.

The Toking DEAD comic series Tobi and Duke fight for their lives, and their weed, in this hilarious action-packed adventure. The comic series is based on two friends who open a dispensary after the legalization of medicinal marijuana was approved. A catastrophic event at a nearby facility flipped their world upside down when people began to turn into crazed, undead mutants. Last year, Ben Bartlett, a member of the Berkeley city council, proposed an unusual idea to his colleagues: putting affordable housing on the blockchain. The city was facing an unprecedented housing crisis and the prospect of cuts to federal housing assistance. Why not turn to local residents to help fund a solution? The city would issue bonds, as governments often do when they need to finance big-ticket projects, and break them up into small pieces called “minibonds.
