Then, Gemma and Marc interview Yasmin Grooters, head of the dinosaur lab at Naturalis Leiden, who recently finished work on a whole herd of Triceratops! Support the show

"We should have brought layers" - a dinosaur in this movie.
My guest for this episode is the journalist, documentary maker and radio script writer, Richard Clemmow. Richard and I are both trustees of Our Brain Bank, a charity which supports people affected by Glioblastoma – one of the most complex and aggressive brain cancers. GBM is a cancer which sadly we both have a very personal connection with. I became a trustee after my family lost my sister Deb almost four years ago after she was diagnosed with a GBM.Richard was married to the pioneering TV executive Jana Bennett. As Director General at the BBC, Jana reached higher office than any woman before her. She transformed the corporation's science coverage, creating Walking With Dinosaurs and later overseeing the introduction of the iPlayer. Jana also sadly died of a GBM earlier this year – she was just 66 years old, leaving Richard and their two children completely devastated. In this podcast, Richard and I talk about our shared experiences with GBM, for which treatment has not developed significantly in the last couple of decades. We discuss why that is, the shocking lack of information that is available to GBM patients and their families and why OBB is so determined to shine a bright light on this terrible, terrible disease.Richard talks with power, clarity and in incredibly moving detail about Jana's determination and courage. But this is also a story about his courage as he effectively played detective to try and prolong his wife's life by finding new treatments. As this episode becomes available, I should be crossing the finish line having cycled from Land's End to John O' Groats in aid of OBB. So, if you feel moved by what you hear, Richard and I would be grateful if you would support our efforts by clicking on the fundraising link below. Huge thanks if you do and in any event thanks for listening.Richard's Crisis Cures:1. I think that's really important – understanding the situation you're in, to the best of your ability and therefore knowing your options and where you might go. It makes you feel more empowered.2. The right kind of music will do it for me. Mozart's Requiem or Beethoven's String Quartet. Also Harvest Moon by Neil Young – that's the song that got Jana through the first 9-hour surgery when she was awake while the surgeon was digging into her head.3. Hiking in the mountains – that would be my third.Links: Support Andy Coulson, raising funds for Our Brain Bank on the LEJOG ride – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/andrew-coulson10Our Brain Bank – https://ourbrainbank.org/uk/Stream/Buy ‘Allies' by Some Velvet Morning: https://ampl.ink/qp6bm Some Velvet Morning Website: www.somevelvetmorning.co.ukYour Daily Practice: Sleep by Myndstream: https://open.spotify.com/track/5OX9XgJufFz9g63o2Dv2i5?si=b2f9397c92084682Host– Andy CoulsonProducer – Louise Difford

Joined by the absolutely hilarious comedian and podcaster Honor Wolff (Hot Department), Mish and Zach tackle this very expensive movie about dinosaur love. "Walking with Dinosaurs - The Movie" is a 2013 3D, CGI, live action family film based on the 1999 BBC mini series of the same name. The film is largely set 70,000,000 years ago. It tells the story of Patchi (voiced by Drew Barrymore's ex boyfriend) a dinosaur that has various little adventures during the annual migration of his dinosaur family. John Leguizamo voices Alex, a bird with the ability to quantum leap into the mind of any of his ancestors. He serves as both a character within the film as well as the narrator. This week we are joined by a very special guest, amateur palaeontologist Ben Wilson, and we're discussing Disney's Dinosaur from 2000. This film made a splash with it's groundbreaking CGI animation interacting with real-life location shoots, and it still holds up 20 years on. With shades of Land Before Time, Tarzan, and the Jungle Book, Dinosaur follows Aladar, an iguanadon raised by early primates, as he joins a herd and attempts to find the hallowed 'nesting ground' after an apocalyptic event. In our staging, we ripoff Walking With Dinosaurs, War Horse, the Natural History Museum, and Universal's Jurassic Park Ride... all at once. Hey guys! I figured I'd review my now favorite dinosaur movie to ever exist, Walking With Dinosaurs. As it is great like the documentary series that shares the same name, I go into detail discussing how this is probably the most accurate dinosaur movie TO DATE!
Look forget Twilight, how the HECK did the Stegosaurus mate? With all those sharp plates up in there?? Get out of TOWN. Alisdair joins us again this week, and let me just say his audio? This week, its all about Dinosaurs!I think when you have a passion about something, and you've held that passion for a long time, that is something to be celebrated!Philip Millar loves Dinosaurs. And boy I'm glad he does. He's brought dinosaurs back to life for Polyglot Puppet Theatre, Creature Technologies and through his own company, Puppet Vision. In this week's episode of Talking Sock, we talk about Philip's history with puppets and his journey in taking Dinosaurs and other larger than life creatures to the next level in entertainment. As a member of Creature Technologies, Philip helped developed Walking With Dinosaurs and also worked as a sculpture for Ron Mueck and Patricia Piccinini. Furthermore, he was the co-artistic director of Polyglot Puppet Theatre and started out working with Handspan Theatre Company.Philip has found himself looking back on a career filled with creativity and has shown no signs of slowing down. With Puppetvision, he continues to work in building commercial puppets while producing and directing his own shows. Whats most impressive, I think, is the versatility and technical skill Philip applies to problem solving using new media.Listen in to find out how Philip approaches producing new theatre and creating new puppets from every imaginable material. And head to One Orange Sock's website for links and mentions related to this cast.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/talking-sock. Dear DCIS Parents, The first half term in any school is always busy and this half term at Dover Court has been no exception! We were delighted to welcome several news students and their families to the primary school; I have greatly enjoyed visiting classes and getting to know our newer children who have clearly settled in well. I have also had the great pleasure of meeting many of our new parents at the Coffee Mornings hosted earlier in the term, as well as at some of the Primary School events. Hopefully, you all feel welcome and your children are by now happy in their new school and familiar with their new routines. We literally hit the ground running with our educational visits in the Primary School this term, with our very first outing to the National Stadium where Year 3 were invited to watch the Walking With Dinosaurs performance. The children (and the staff!) told me that it was a great show and a brilliant entry point for the Year 3 Project Work, Footsteps From The Past. Thank you to Mr Neeson and the Year 3 team for giving up their Saturday morning to take the children to the performance, I know this was greatly appreciated. Following this, Years 4 and 5 went to the theatre to see the Mandarin version of Fantastic Mr Fox. Thank you to the Miss Hey and the Mandarin team for organising these trips. The children told me that they had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. As well as this, Year 2 have visited the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome at Gardens By the Bay, Year 4 had a great session at the Science Centre, Year 3 went to Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, Year 6 had a fantastic experience at the Forest Adventure at Bedok Reservoir Park and EYFS tested out many activities (and gained many skills!) at Kidzania. We have many more visits planned over the rest of the term and we will keep you updated! As well as this, we have enjoyed our Primary Sports Days this term out on the track and field. It was a pleasure to see the children so engaged in their carousel of activities with everything from the long jump and the hurdles, to sprinting and shot put! Each child had the opportunity to shine and they were encouraged to do so by our amazing PE team. The events ran seamlessly, apart from the Singapore weather playing a trick on Year 1, and this is of course down to the prior planning on the part of the staff. A big thank you to each and every one of the for super set of events and thanks also to the parents who managed to come along to support the children – it was great to see you there. Over the half term we have seen some great class assemblies presented by the children themselves. Thank you so far to for all the staff and students concerned. You may also have heard that our very own Dover Court Superheroes made a guest appearance at our first Vision assembly of the year. This was a great opportunity to re-cap on the school vision and the characteristics we embody here at Dover Court. We have also been delighted to award our Care and Collaboration awards to some of our students this term. I know they were as proud to receive their pin badges and certificates in assembly as I was to award them.

MultimediaLIVE — The Dinosaur Park in Mpumalanga province in South Africa should be much more famous than it is. The life-size animals, which include a brontosaurs, were created by one of the country's top wildlife artists and live out their days in a gorgeous piece of sub-tropical forest at the edge of the equally wonderful Sudwala Caves. The caverns are packed with fossils and bats and were once the refuge of a great Swazi king and his people. This is the story of how the park came to be. We're one short for a game of Mario Party 2.The backlog is over, we're back to parity with the Famicast, and the fall release season is about to fall upon us like a tidal wave of bankruptcy in this historic episode of Nintendo Free Radio. Donald opens the New Business proceedings with a visual novel - emphasis on the novel - in the form of one of his most anticipated games of the rest of the year, Steins;Gate. Stephen is paying off a longstanding bet by Walking With Dinosaurs, which may pay off a three year old Twitter promise. Austen takes it to the end of New Business with the teen slasher fic/game Until Dawn and an extended look at Tales from the Borderlands Episode 4 (assume spoilers from about 45m30 until the break music just after the 1 hour mark).Following a brief Whatcha Watchin' with some streets ahead paintball and a NXT update, it's time for an extended Feature discussion on the Nintendo 64 because really, we're contractually obligated to do one for this episode (and not invite Jon/James/Greg). Underrated games, Western influence and just how bad ***** ** really is (it's so bad) all appear. In the Mushrooms, Stephen has to be prepared, Austen's enjoying adventure while simultaneously cursing out Day 1 spoilers, and Donald may be about to reach an Amiibo breaking point. (During the edit of this show, he bought a Captain Falcon, so who knows at this point?)We'll be recording the next episode shortly, and we'd love to have some more Listener Mail, so drop us a line in the usual spots. Until next time, may the way of the hero lead to the Triforce. This podcast was recorded on August 30 and was edited by Donald Theriault. All music and clips used under fair use provisions and for context of discussion. RIP Wes Craven, whose death was announced immediately after we stopped tape.

It turns out that despite the popular 3D animations on the telly, we know very little indeed about how they walked.

Are your kids dino-obsessed? Do you remember when they read Danny the Dinosaur and dreamt of riding a dinosaur's back? Our kids slept with their dinosaur books, memorizing each name -- Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex -- and have always wondered what it would be like to meet a real life dinosaur. But wonder no more, because...they're back! Walking With Dinosaurs is a live, theatrical show where science and animatronics meet imagination as 15 snarling, growling, life-sized dinosaurs roam the arena. Putting your kids face-to-face with a Stegosaurus, T. Rex and a Utah Raptor is not as scary as it sounds, though we don't recommend the show for kids under six. To get your kids dinosaur-ready, we review "The Land Before Time" for little ones this week. If your bigger kids are stalwart, there's nothing like "Jurassic Park" or the show upon which this traveling stage show is based, the BBC's "Walking With Dinosaurs". Visit www.kidsoffthecouch.com for a subscriber discount to the show, which is only in Los Angeles for THREE DAYS -- September 25 through 28, and for details on the new Dinosaur Encounters show at the Natural History Museum for younger dino-fans.
