That's right - our old friends Eiffel and Hilbert are back with important news! There's a new audio fiction series called Hit Singles, created by Wolf 359 creator Gabriel Urbina and produced by Urbina, Sarah Shachat, and Zach Valenti! It's a romantic comedy all about friendship, love, the struggles of trying to make it in a big city, and loving music way too much. You can listen to the show over on Audible. If you have an Audible Plus membership, you can listen to it at no additional cost. (And if you still have a free trial, you can listen to it for free for 30 days.) Besides the show's three producers, you'll also hear Wolf 359 alumni Noah Masur, Zach Libresco, Michelle Agresti, and Mary Kate Wiles in the series. (As well as veterans from many of our sibling series, such as The Bright Sessions, Life With Leo(h), and 36 Questions!) It was a real labor of love, and we'd love to help it find as wide an audience as it can. So please check it out, and, if you love it as much as we think you will, please leave a rating and a review. Here is the official description for Hit Singles: From the creators of the hit audio drama Wolf 359 and with original music by Jeremy Warmsley comes a modern story about friendship, love, and chosen family starring Evangeline Young (Emergence), Nicholas Podany (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Simone Policano (Blue Bloods), Julia Rehwald (Fear Street), Briggon Snow (Masters of Sex) and a full cast. A captivating listen perfect for fans of New Girl and High Fidelity. When struggling DJ Faith Adler comes to couch surf with her best friend Tori in NYC, she finds herself drawn into the world of Tori's eclectic friend group. Right from her chaotic first night, Faith's new friends take her under their wing and help her navigate the ups and downs of trying to make it as an artist in the big city. There's Tori, the bubbly one; Ginah, the high-strung but loyal one; Matt, the flirtatious one; and David, the cynical one. Tori and Ginah's apartment becomes a sanctuary where lasting bonds are forged over late nights, drink-filled conversations, impromptu dance parties, and the occasional Sense and Sensibility marathon. Falling in love definitely isn't part of Faith's plan, but that all changes when she meets David, a former law student (and current bartender) who has recently come to the conclusion that romance is for suckers and sworn it off altogether. From the moment they meet at a New Year's in the Summer party, their will-they-or-won't-they chemistry is electric. As Faith and David grow closer over whiskey-soaked nights and heart-to-heart talks on the fire escape, their flirtation deepens into something more meaningful. Are they friends? Lovers? Romantic partners? Casual sex acquaintances? The answer is, simultaneously, all and none of the above. Let the overthinking commence! With rich character development and an ensemble cast that feels like friends you've known forever, Hit Singles deftly balances comedy, romance, and poignant drama. It's a beautifully rendered celebration of the family we choose, the cities that choose us back, and the life-altering power of human connection. * * * Today's message features the sound effect UI Seatbelt Signal by newlocknew. Hello strange and unusual listeners - Lauren Shippen here, the creator of The Bright Sessions and voice of Sam. Unbelievably, this November 1st marks ten years since we first released the show. Over seven seasons and three books, we told a story that has been listened to tens of millions of times and that has brought so many people together in so many ways.My life is totally different now than it was 10 years ago because of this show. I fell in love with making audio drama, built a community of creative collaborators that became treasured friends and, most importantly, met all of you, virtually or in real life. I've loved hearing your stories, seeing your tattoos, and talking to you about what it means to be strange in a world that seems to reject any and all strangeness.I want to celebrate 10 years of being strange with you so, staring in April, we'll be doing livestreams every month until November with members of the cast and crew. First up, on Saturday April 26th at 4pm PT, Julia Morizawa, Briggon Snow, Anna Lore, and I will be reuniting to talk about Season 1.If you go to atypicalartists.co/10years, you can see the most up to date information and sign up for a mailing list that will give you all the livestream info you need. That link is also in the description, as is our bluesky username, if you'd like to follow us there. If you've ever had a burning question about The Bright Sessions, now is the time to ask it!Along with the livestreams, we'll also be releasing some new - and some very cool - limited run merch. And, there might be some other fun surprises along the way.I hope you'll join us on April 26th or whatever month you hear this - remember, check atypicalartists.co/10years to see the schedule! - and in the meantime, as always, stay strange.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Lauren Shippen is one of my favorite creators of audio dramas. In 2015, she burst on the scene with The Bright Sessions, which was about young people with supernatural abilities who are in therapy. The show was so successful, she used it to create an audio drama network called Atypical Artists, which produces her work and other indie creators. As a writer, Lauren combines a steady stream of revelations and plot twists with an ability to write deeply human characters that keeps me bingeing. And she's given herself great roles to play as an actress. I talk with Lauren about her creative process, and her newest shows, the post-apocalyptic road trip Breaker Whiskey, and New Year's Day, which is about two rival magicians who are immortal. Today I am chatting about The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen. This is the first book in her Bright Sessions novels. Joining me today is Priscilla from the Novel Feelings podcast. Take a listen as Priscilla and I chat all about what it would be like to be an empath who can feel the emotions of everyone around them, the characters, the plot, how I obsessed over a boy when I was in high school (yes, it's related), the friendship and love story between our main characters, and so much more! The first fifteen minutes are spoiler free!A little about The Infinite Noise: Caleb Michaels is a sixteen-year-old champion running back. Other than that his life is pretty normal. But when Caleb starts experiencing mood swings that are out of the ordinary for even a teenager, his life moves beyond “typical.”Caleb is an Atypical, an individual with enhanced abilities. Which sounds pretty cool except Caleb's ability is extreme empathy―he feels the emotions of everyone around him. Being an empath in high school would be hard enough, but Caleb's life becomes even more complicated when he keeps getting pulled into the emotional orbit of one of his classmates, Adam. Adam's feelings are big and all-consuming, but they fit together with Caleb's feelings in a way that he can't quite understand.Caleb's therapist, Dr. Bright, encourages Caleb to explore this connection by befriending Adam. As he and Adam grow closer, Caleb learns more about his ability, himself, his therapist―who seems to know a lot more than she lets on―and just how dangerous being an Atypical can be.Follow Novel Feelings Podcast on InstagramCheck out the Novel Feelings websiteListen to Novel Feelings PodcastSend us a Text Message.Have a question about today's book or author? Welcome to Night Vale. The Message. Steal the Stars. Homecoming. The Bright Sessions. All are fiction podcasts that have seen downloads in the millions. Some have been optioned for television or film adaptation. All were launched in just the last few years. For much of the early to mid 20th century, millions of listeners tuned in each week to listen to radio dramas and fiction broadcasts in genres ranging from adventure (Superman) to science fiction (War of the Worlds) to crime noir (Dragnet). But by the early 60s, due to the rise of television, the radio drama faded in popularity, and most were canceled by the end of 1962. Though some broadcasters continued to dabble in the medium, most people today have grown up without having listened to a single radio play. Podcasting, however, has led to a resurgence in this kind of audio fiction, and a whole new generation of fans are tuning in to new episodes, attending live events, and ordering merchandise online. Why are we seeing this resurgence in what was thought to be a bygone medium? To answer this, I interviewed Alasdair Stuart, the owner of Escape Artists Inc, which produces a number of popular fiction podcasts in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres.
