Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez of the musical duo Johnnyswim open up about the meaning of money in their creative partnership and marriage. Money disagreements are a part of any relationship, but it's how you work through them to forge a unified financial life, and throughout their career, Abner and Amanda have prioritized creative control and financial independence. Abner and Amanda released their first music as Johnnyswim in 2008, and married a year later in 2009. Since then, they've released a number of successful albums and EPs, toured all over the world (many times with their kids in tow), and they've released two shows on Magnolia Network, ‘In the Kitchen with Abner and Amanda' and a docuseries about their life, simply titled 'The Johnnyswim Show”. Talking about money is hard, and talking about it with a couple can be even harder, but as you'll soon hear, it can make all the difference in any relationship. About Suitcase Souls Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Suitcase Souls are an Americana/Pop duo composed of husband-and-wife Kyle and Marci Pruzina. Meeting while attending college in Memphis, Tennessee, they'd started performing together in bands and as a duo since day one. Moving to Nashville in 2019, they began writing, recording, and building their band in the heart of Music City. The couple released their debut album, The Love We Found, in 2021 ranging from uptempo, driving Americana-rock songs to vibey love ballads perfect for a wedding first dance. This week we continue our focus on couples and the Enneagram by taking another look at my conversation with Abner and Amanda Ramirez (better known as Johnnyswim). I break down a few sections I found that exemplify the ways their types complement each other as well as where they might struggle. If you'd like to know more about how you and your partner can better relate to each other, get a copy of your couples report here. (Use the code COUPLES to get 10% off). P.S. Abner and Amanda have a new album out titled, Johnnsywim. Check it out.
We had the pleasure of interviewing JOHNNYSWIM over Zoom video!JOHNNYSWIM, the acclaimed husband and wife singer-songwriter duo of Amanda Sudano-Ramirez and Abner Ramirez, release their fourth full-length album, JOHNNYSWIM. Predominantly produced by Abner, the album includes additional production from Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Malay (Frank Ocean, Sam Smith) and Harold Brown as well as a feature collaboration with acclaimed Houston-based artist Tobe Nwigwe on “Desmond's Song.” Created during the height of the pandemic, the self-titled album gives voice to life's ups and downs while Amanda and Abner translate their memories, moments and milestones into spirited anthems steeped in the singer/songwriter tradition. The new work marks a notable evolution for JOHNNYSWIM, pushing the pair to a new level as they shed light on relationships and the challenges that have emerged in a changing world. JOHNNYSWIM met in Nashville in 2005 and quickly started writing songs together. They clicked musically and personally, beginning a romantic relationship alongside their creative connection. The couple married in 2009 and relocated to Los Angeles where they currently reside with their three children. Throughout their career, the group has released three full-length albums, a Christmas EP and a live record, which have garnered over 500 million streams worldwide. Last year, the duo premiered the second season of their television series “The JOHNNYSWIM Show” on discovery+ as part of longtime friends Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Network. I met these newlyweds at a Johnnyswim show a couple weeks ago and immediately connected with their energy! Possibly because they, too, are musicians AND they're a 7 and a 2 on the ennegram (my type is a tie of those two!). Their talent with music, songwriting, and artistry is excellent and their hearts are even more grand than their giftings. Listen to The Graes on Spotify or Apple Music as and follow them on Instagram @wearethegraes! They also just started their own podcast called All Things Grae! I loved this conversation because of my love for music and writing, but also because they give encouragement and helpful advice to musicians, singers, writers, or any aspiring artists on the challenges and highlights of making music a career! And they're fantastic conversationalists and just fun and down to earth friends (that have guaranteed me VIP passes to their shows if I make them a cool sign!) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

JOHNNYSWIM—Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano—translate the memories, moments, and milestones on their journey as a married couple into spirited, slick, and soulful anthems steeped in singer-songwriter tradition, yet amplified by alternative experimentation, rock energy, and pop ambition. Building a fanbase through constant touring, 2013's Heart Beats EP spawned “Don't Let It Get You Down,” which clocked 17 million-plus Spotify streams. Their first full-length, Diamonds, arrived in 2014 as its single “Home” famously became the theme to HGTV hit Fixer Upper. The 2016 follow-up Georgica Pond yielded another fan favorite “First Try” as the duo sold out dates around the world. Along the way, they garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR, The New York Times, Huffington Post, Nylon, Du Jour, and VH1 in addition to performing on The Today Show, CONAN, and more. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning powerhouse Malay [Frank Ocean, Sam Smith], the group's 2019 third full-length, Moonlight [Britannia Row Recordings/BMG], shines a light on the strength of their bond, the scope of their musical palette, and spirit of their stories together.------------------- Are you ready to start dreaming big? Jenna interviews the awesome YamHaus band in our largest interview yet (5 of us on the pod!) where we talk about how YamHaus started, their vision of success, vlogging everyday for one year, how they got their parents on board and their upcoming FirstAvenue show. Making their debut last year at a sold-out show at Prince's First Avenue with Bishop Briggs, the Minneapolis-based pop band, Yam Haus, continues to capture the Midwest's attention with their high energy show, clean synth-pop sound, and engaging personalities. Members Lars Pruitt (lead vocal), Jake Felstow (drums), Zach Beinlich (bass), and Seth Blum (guitar) officially formed Yam Haus in 2017 and launched their first single, West Coast, in April 2018 which garnered over 100,000 streams within the first week of its release. Selling out shows across the midwest due to a quickly growing fan-base, the quartet has played alongside national acts AWOLNATION, American Authors, Semisonic, lovelytheband, Johnnyswim, and Kacey Musgraves. Amassing over 2 million streams on Spotify with their pop-inspired album, Stargazer, Yam Haus' dance-worthy sound evokes the names of WALK THE MOON, Maroon 5, and Ed Sheeran alike. Kicking off the summer with Basilica Block Party, Summerfest, and the release of their latest single, The Thrill, the band continues to build momentum as they unveil their new musical direction throughout 2019. https://www.instagram.com/yamhaus http://twitter.com/YAMHAUSBand http://facebook.com/yamhaus Jenna Redfield is a digital content expert, focused on organizing, planning and creating content for marketing purposes.
