Welcome back to another episode of Better Than I Found It, where this week Coach McGraw interviews former University of Texas golfer Marcus Jones. A native of Graham, Texas, Marcus was the number two ranked national junior golfer, just behind Tiger Woods. Because of his ranking he was often paired with Tiger, and he discusses that as well as the challenges of growing up a golfer in a small town with a 9-hole golf course and the large amount of players that come from Graham. A good chunk of their conversation centers around College Golf Fellowship, a ministry organization Marcus has been a part of for 15 years. His deep Christian faith shines through this interview, and I hope you enjoy. Thank you for joining the podcast Marcus! Subscribe to the podcast for future episodes. In this episode of The Long Haul, I sit down with Marcus Jones, the owner of 314 Logistics, to unpack the highs and lows of running a high-volume trucking operation. At his peak, Marcus had 180+ trucks running frac sand, generating over $18 million in annual revenue. But as the market shifted, he had to make a tough decision—pivot or perish. Marcus shares how he redefined success by focusing on efficiency over fleet size, proving that you don't need a massive number of trucks to be highly profitable. He breaks down the strategies he used to streamline operations, increase profitability, and create a sustainable business model in an industry that often prioritizes growth over efficiency. If you've ever wondered whether bigger really means better, or if there's a smarter way to scale in trucking, this episode is for you. Then, the chaos moment of the week for the Patriots is not knowing Marcus Jones played offense which goes against Jerod Mayo's early thought of having a collaborative effort. And, Joe Sacco might've gotten a win in his first game as Bruins' head coach, but don't expect that to continue if the players keep running the show.

Who is hipper, Hart or Alex Van Pelt? Hart knows who SZA is, so point for Hart, but Alex Van Pelt does not even know about his own player, Marcus Jones! Give him the ball! Try to find space for him! Is he most valuable on defense? We don't think so. We are stuck with him on defense, but he is much more explosive with the ball in his hand.
If you are a New York NFL fan right now, things are pretty bad. The Jets suck and the Giants are also probably on the same level. Then, Mike Giardi calls in. Giardi is not a fan of what went down with the Patriots in regards to Marcus Jones. Another example of the Patriots this season stepping in it.

Mayo and his scared style of coaching. Not going for it on the two yard line, don't get the ball to Marcus Jones on a punt. Not letting Slye kick a long field goal. Media does not ask Mayo questions that are hard enough. What does Mayo even do during games? That could have been Drake Maye's best game, and Jerod Mayo's worst. Patriots players and coaches were crediting the other team's coaches after the game which means that Mayo was bad. QB is what you have, Alex Van Pelt has improved.

Ray and Chief Bobby don't believe the Patriots deserve credit for Sunday's win against the Jets. The New England Patriots pulled off a comeback to edge out the New York Jets 25-22 on October 27, 2024, snapping a six-game losing streak. New England initially struggled when rookie quarterback Drake Maye exited in the second quarter with a concussion, but backup Jacoby Brissett took over, managing key drives and connecting with Boutte and clutch catches down the stretch. Marcus Jones sparked the team with a crucial punt return in the third quarter. Rhamondre Stevenson scored the game-winning touchdown with 22 seconds left, sealing the Patriots' victory despite a late push from Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. At the very least, 1-16 is officially off the table. How does the Patriots secondary look? Marcus Jones has plenty to show as a cornerback. The good the bad and the ugly of Patriots training camp so far. Maye cannot consistently take a snap from center yet. He has been bad. Gresh thought he would not be the train-wreck that he has been. He comes away saying that you cannot start him week one. The good: Jacoby Brissett has been good enough in his role that he was signed for. Has Maye stepped aside well enough? Gresh does not think so, Hart disagrees.
(0:00) Zolak and Bertrand start off the final hour of the show by discussing how Jacoby Brissett is starting to stack productive days at training camp. (9:00) Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones joined the show. (17:22) Phil Perry Joins The Show.
