Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: July 22, 2018Weird Darkness travels from a cursed Hollywood film set to a Maryland goat-monster, the cobbler-fairies of Irish legend, a vanished El Paso couple, and a blood-soaked Soviet sleep laboratory where the test subjects no longer wanted to be set free.It opens with the deaths that shadow the Poltergeist films, beginning with Heather O'Rourke, who played Carol Anne Freeling from the original 1982 release through both sequels and died at twelve in San Diego in February 1986 during surgery for a bowel obstruction later traced to a congenital intestinal flaw. Dominique Dunne, who played older sister Dana Freeling, was strangled in 1982 by John Sweeney outside her Hollywood home, and Sweeney served just three years and seven months. Julian Beck, the gaunt preacher Kane of Poltergeist II, died of stomach cancer in 1983, and Will Sampson, who played the shaman Taylor, died after a heart-lung transplant — four deaths that fed a curse legend later thickened by JoBeth Williams' claim that Steven Spielberg used real human skeletons as cheaper props and by Sampson's own ritual cleansing of the set.From there the episode crosses into Prince George's County, Maryland, where the Goatman has stalked local legend for decades. One origin story sets him at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, a half-man, half-goat creature born from a USDA experiment gone wrong; another makes him a herdsman driven mad after teenagers slaughtered his flock. University of Maryland folklorist Barry Pearson traces his heyday to the 1970s and the 1971 decapitation of a puppy named Ginger in Bowie, an incident the Washington Post covered and locals pinned on the creature haunting Fletchertown and Lottsford roads, while Beltsville spokesperson Kim Kaplan dryly wonders whether a goatman that old would be collecting Social Security by now.Next the show turns to Irish folklore and the leprechaun, the solitary fairy whose name traces to a Gaelic root for a small body or a shoemaker. Standing two to three feet tall in a green or red coat and buckled shoes, he works as a fairy cobbler who stitches only a single shoe and never a pair, guards a hidden pot of gold, and trades three wishes for his freedom when a human manages to catch him. He lives in cave networks reached through rabbit holes and the hollow trunks of fairy trees, and damaging one of those trees is said to draw a lifetime of bad luck.From the green hills of Ireland the episode moves to El Paso, Texas, where William and Margaret Patterson left their home at 3000 Piedmont Drive on March 5, 1957 and were never seen again, dinner dishes still in the sink and their cat Tommy left without food. The owners of Patterson Photo Supply vanished without packing a suitcase, their associate Doyle Kirkland turned up driving William's Cadillac with a thin story about a vacation, and a telegram from Dallas signed with the wrong middle initial named Kirkland as William's replacement at the store. Decades on, caretaker Reinaldo Nangre claimed he had cleaned blood from the garage and found a piece of scalp on the boat propeller before dying in a car crash, and Sheriff Leo Samaniego floated the theory that the couple were Soviet spies photographing Fort Bliss, leaving a disappearance that was declared a death in 1964 and has never been solved.The episode closes in the late 1940s, when Soviet researchers sealed five political prisoners in a chamber and kept them awake for fifteen days with an experimental gas-based stimulant, promising freedom in exchange for thirty sleepless days. Paranoia set in after five days, screaming after nine, and when the chamber was opened on the fifteenth the soldiers found four men still alive amid their own torn-out organs, having eaten their own flesh and blocked the floor drain with it, fighting any attempt to remove them and begging for the gas rather than sleep. One subject, pinned for surgery without anesthetic, wrote only the words "keep cutting," and as the last of them was shot through the heart he claimed to be the madness that lurks in every sleeping mind, choking out that he was so nearly free.

I'm your host Miata Tan, and you are tuning into APEX Express, a weekly radio show that uplifts the voices and stories of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The United States runs the largest immigration detention system in the world. Earlier this year, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE, [00:01:00] held a record. 73,000 people in immigration detention the highest number in the agency's 23 year history. Since January 20, 25, over 6,200 kids have passed through ICE detention. Tonight we hear from a community who are shining a light on this issue and working to end the ongoing detention of immigrant and asylum seeking families.  Rob Buscher: The Japanese American story and Asian American story are just one chapter in this much larger chronicle of state violence, and we. See our role as, as also helping to connect the dots and be the connective tissue. Miata Tan: That was the voice of Rob Buscher, the Director of Operations at Tsuru for Solidarity, a nationwide organization with a mission to educate, advocate, and protest to close all US detention site. And bring an end to inhumane immigration policies. Tsuru for Solidarity is led by [00:02:00] the survivors and descendants of Japanese Americans who are incarcerated in concentration camps by the US government in World War ii. Our three guests tonight are shaping the future of this work at Tsuru for Solidarity. They share with us how the legacy of Japanese American wartime incarceration is deeply intertwined with the present day realities that many immigrant communities are facing. First up is Mike Ishii, the Executive Director of Tsuru for Solidarity. Here's Mike taking us back to the inception of this organization and national movement. Mike Ishii: In 2016 the Obama administration decided to really lean into. A deterrence policy of immigration. When they had first entered office, we thought they may actually provide some relief for immigrants. But in fact, what they ended up doing was weaponizing the immigration policy at the southern border against immigrants. And they built [00:03:00] Karnes and Dilley, which were the first family detention centers. Carl Takei, one of the founding members of Tsuru for Solidarity. In fact, I think he was just honored by, the Asian Bar Association for his longtime advocacy work in community spaces. Well, in 2016 when the Obama administration really opened Karnes and Dilley, Carl was working at the A CLU in immigration and the Obama administration had the audacity to want to invite advocates from all over the country to show off their new detention centers. And so when Carl entered into those sites, what he encountered was a room that was. Full of giant cabinets floor to ceiling. And when they opened the doors, what he saw inside were thousands of shoes for infants. And it took his breath away and he realized, oh my God, these are concentration camps for children. And you know, this really. Resonated with his [00:04:00] own family's history of mass incarceration during World War ii. So what he did was he immediately called Dr. Satsuki Ina, Dr. Ina is very famous. For a number of things. One is that she is really the preeminent community trauma specialist in the Japanese American community. She was born inside of the Tula Lake Segregation Center, a concentration camp. She would grow up to become a very, well-known psychotherapist in the Japanese American community. Dr. Ina. Is really like Carl's auntie, and so he said, this is happening at the southern border. I want you to come have a look. She went inside and she was actually able to meet with families and their children, and she of course can do a psychological assessment  She began to advocate. Against these camps because what she realized was that the conditions, the experiences, the trauma that these children were experiencing was very similar to what our own survivors had experienced as children during World War ii in the US concentration caps. [00:05:00] So there's one of the genesis prongs of Tsuru for solidarity. If you fast forward. To 2018, you have the zero tolerance policy under Trump, administration, 1.0. And if you remember, at that time, as an extension. of deterrence, they were separating children from their families at the southern border. These are families who were seeking refugee status, who were seeking asylum, who were presenting for asylum. That's a constitutional and human right, protected by the Geneva Conventions. They would take those families, they would literally strip the children away from their parents. They deported the parents. Purposefully they did not record where they were sending them often deported not to countries of origin. So in many cases, we still have not reunited those families. We don't know where the parents are and the children are still here, nine, 10 years later, With unaccompanied status because they purposefully destroyed the connections and the ability to [00:06:00] trace and reunite those families. That's Trump 1.0. And when they were doing that they were also expanding these large congregate concentration caps for children. They were calling them influx centers and saying, oh, they'll only be processed through these, and then we'll release children into. Custody of family members, et cetera. That was not true. They were actually prisons for children and they were literal concentration camps. It's violating the due process laws of the United States. there's no accountability. There's no oversight. And so Tsuru for Solidarity emerged in 2018 as an organization of Japanese Americans, really led by survivors who were children in camps and their descendants.  My own mother was incarcerated in a concentration camp in Idaho with her family. During World War ii, she was 10 years old at that time. She had two younger sisters and her youngest sister was born inside of the Minidoka concentration camp and experienced birth trauma because they had no doctors. She was, um, birthed by a veterinarian [00:07:00] and ex experienced, um, lack of oxygen And so she lived a life of tremendous suffering and, and disability. Um, that was often unrecognized as trauma from a concentration camp. She attempted to commit suicide multiple times. Eventually would die an early death from mental health. Complications. That's the legacy of the camps of World War ii, and understanding that multi-generational impact is partly why suited for solidarity emerged in 2018 when we recognized that they were repeating our history, and that's why we're here today. Miata Tan: That was Mike Ishii, Executive Director at Tsuru for Solidarity. Mike described how Tsuru's work grew in response to the ongoing detention of immigrant children in the United States. As he mentioned, many Japanese Americans have deep roots in this country. Now let's hear from Rob Buscher Tsuru's, Director of [00:08:00] Operations. He's a mixed race yonsei or fourth generation Japanese American. You may hear him use terms like yonsei to describe different generations. Now, here's Rob Unpacking the legacy of Japanese American incarceration, including the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, which issued a formal apology and reparations and what that history means for other communities today. Rob Buscher: In 2018 and 2019, our community was not the one that was at risk of being detained. We were not the ones who were being targeted by the state violence of immigrant detention and enforcement. and yet we had this ability to kind of think about and talk about. Multi-generational impacts of the trauma from World War ii. Um, it's not just the survivors of camp and the children of camp. It's the children and grandchildren of this experience who continue to suffer multi-generational effects of trauma, whether it be higher, uh, incidents of anxiety and stress leading to a [00:09:00] variety of health issues, uh, substance abuse issues the forced assimilation that resulted in the aftermath of our resettlement into the broader American society has also resulted in a great deal of assimilation trauma. So for a number of sansei and yonsei and gosei now trying to understand, uh, what is our history and heritage? How can we relate to something that was forcibly removed from us and really navigating this idea that at sometimes feels like a racial imposter syndrome, uh, when we don't know our own histories because it was forcibly taken from us. In a variety of ways, uh, I think that the Japanese American community's role, and specifically through Tsuru, has been rooted in this idea of solidarity and collective liberation because we understand that the effects. Our trauma, we're part of this much longer continuum of anti-black racism, of anti indigenous genocide, of white supremacy in the United States. The [00:10:00] Japanese American story and Asian American story are just one chapter in this much larger chronicle of state violence, and we. See our role as, as also helping to connect the dots and be the connective tissue. In some cases, when communities who have experienced these kinds of traumas across many decades aren't always in communication with each other, aren't always in conversation, but the complexity and nuance of the American story actually lends itself to a number of parallels to have conversations around things like. Black reparations. And you know, this is another part of the work that Tsuru does in solidarity with black reparations and African American communities, descendants of chattel slavery and others who have suffered Jim Crow and other forms of state violence against black and brown communities. understanding that the, the redress story and the story of Japanese Americans receiving our own reparations. Uh, is part of this longer narrative around, uh, what does it mean to have reparative [00:11:00] justice? And, um, as some of the few people who have received reparations from the United States government, uh, many of us also see it as our obligation and duty to stand in solidarity with black reparations.  Mike Ishii: if I could just add on to that, you know. There's an intersectional history in the United States of forced removals, you know, on the enslavement blocks enforcing people on forced death marches from their home lands to reservations. In the prison system of the us The largest prison system in the world. It's forced removal, it's separation of families, it's mass incarceration it's surveillance and it's murder. And the Japanese American chapter of that history is actually a very similar story that just as, as Rob said, just keeps being repeated over and over again, but it's created in new iterations. So, just to give you a small example related to the Japanese American story. Dylan Meyer, who ran the war relocation authority, he was responsible [00:12:00] for the 10 largest, the most well known of the Japanese American concentration camps. There were actually over 75, sites of detention for Japanese Americans during World War ii. Most people don't realize that. what we were put into that system during World War II was based on the reservation model, um, of how they remove indigenous people from their homelands and then force them onto reservation lands. That model was exported. By the Nazis to build their concentration camps. So like people think, oh, Nazi Germany invented that. No, it was, that model was invented in the United States. It was then exported to Nazi Germany. It was then tailored further on Japanese American communities. And then with the forced assimilation, we were, our people were not allowed to go back to their homes initially. Dylan Meyer wrote about it in his biography. He considered the force assimilation one of his greatest accomplishments. So what he was doing was he was dispersing us and destroying us in one generation of force removal. We lost our homes, we lost our farms. We lost the nijo Mai, the Japan towns. We [00:13:00] lost our language. We lost our culture, and perhaps most importantly. We lost each other because they pitted our community against each other with a series of very divisive questionnaires that really turned people on each other, More than 84 years since the opening of the camp. We're still trying to repair the fractures of that. They're not healed yet. And so that's what Rob, when Rob refers to multi-generational trauma, we're a fractured community. Still trying to repair the implosion that was. Really dropped on us by the United States government, this is what they do repeatedly to community after community. So with the force assimilation after World War ii, they saw how that worked. Then they, they took that back and they weaponized it against, um, indigenous communities and saying, we're gonna move people off the reservations. We're gonna resettle them in cities Further isolating people away from their home communities, taking away their languages, taking them and breaking their connections to family and community. Right? Setting people up for failure in a city away from their [00:14:00] people. in poverty., And what we're witnessing right now is a culmination of hundreds of years in this of white supremacy, weaponized against our communities. More openly, more brazenly than ever before, with the full power of the United States government behind it. Miata Tan: That was Mike Ishii, Executive Director at Tsuru for Solidarity. As Mike described mass surveillance programs, the World War II, incarceration of Japanese Americans and post-war pressures to assimilate left lasting impacts on this community. In the present, Tsuru for Solidarity connects the Japanese American history to ongoing immigration detention in the United States. Here's Mike describing some of Tsuru's past and ongoing campaigns focused on closing specific detention sites, what they call site fights.  Mike Ishii: Dilley and Karnes, which are the original two sites and the largest sites in Texas, which are now in the news again, [00:15:00] because they're being reused again by the Trump administration very openly. But under Biden, we had forced 'em to close those basically functionally for families. They were using them in other ways. Which is not good. but we had forced them to stop detaining families officially. we had stopped the expansion of these large congregate sites for unaccompanied migrant children. Uh, we stopped them from opening a large one in Greensboro, North Carolina. They wanted to open what they called the Piedmont Academy. Site of the former National Jewish School that school closed. And so they had leased the property and they were gonna. Open their largest detention site for unaccompanied migrant children and call it an academy. we slowed it down and forced them to reconsider it long enough to where it became an unworkable, policy for them. And they abandoned it. We stopped them from expanding Fort Bliss. In El Paso, which is a military base that was also used as a Japanese American incarceration site [00:16:00] during World War ii. it's currently being used again. It's being called Camp East Montana, by the Trump 2.0 administration. And when they were incarcerating children there during the first Trump administration, children were literally forgotten. Their cases were forgotten, and there were children languIshiing in there for like. Up to a year at a time, and nobody knew they were there because no one cared. There were allegations of sexual abuse, uh, rotten food, children who never were allowed outside. Children covered in lice, children taking care of younger children because nobody took care of them, lack of medical care. And so if that's shocking for what was happening under the first Trump administration, it's. Also happening now. And, and there is even less oversight or accountability now than there was, during the first Trump administration because as broken as that system was, then it had more accountability because there were [00:17:00] advocates and legal representatives for children, which is almost non-existent now. They've done away with the funding for that. We have three year olds representing themselves in immigration courts now because they did away with the congressional funding to support that. That's sort of the, the constellation of. Of the work that we emerged into when we came into formation, um, under the first Trump administration. And, it, it has just continued to evolve. We've been involved in, I think it's eight site fights now. And as difficult as this moment is right now, I always wanna tell people, and frame it this way, when you fight back, you win. We closed the Berks Family Detention Center permanently. We stopped the Piedmont Academy from opening in Greensboro. Tsuru's first major action was to go to Fort Sill in Oklahoma in 2019. Um, we led two protests there. The first one went [00:18:00] sort of viral on democracy now in cause they accompanied us. They embedded themselves with us. This is the first thing we ever did in a large scale and had no idea what we were doing at that point. We just were just angry and we, and full of, passion and said we have to go there and stop them from opening. A new concentration camp for 1600 children. And so we did that. Um, as a result, United we dream joined us along with AIM Indian Territory, with Black Lives Matter, Oklahoma City. Um, with Dream Action now Oklahoma with Veterans for Peace and with many of the local tribes. We came back a month later and staged a massive, massive demonstration shut down the highway into the fort. We brought 25 Buddhist priests and nuns with us. Who chanted the heart suture at the gate, um, while DACA young people took the highway and shut it down. After that action, the governor and the two senators from Oklahoma made an announcement the next day and they said, we've decided not to open this site here because we [00:19:00] said if you move ahead with. This is just the beginning. You think this is bad. We are gonna bring thousands of people here and we will make sure this site never opens. we proved through solidarity and community organizing in that moment that when you organize in solidarity against state violence, you win. You know, it's a bad moment. Right now they're proposing what, 23, 25 new warehouse detention sites, but actually. At least three or four of them have been curtailed already because community came together and said, not in my neighborhood, not in my town, not in my city. We will oppose you. And we're getting very smart about how we work together. I think Chicago and Minneapolis, LA have really lifted up the idea that change and transformation comes from the ground up. when we wait for our. Governments to change policy for the better of people and humanity. It doesn't happen. It's [00:20:00] when it's when the grassroots decide. We band together. We protect ourselves, we care for ourselves. We organize, we stand in solidarity against state violence. Then we can move things and we can stop things. Miata Tan: That was Mike Ishii, Executive Director at Tsuru for Solidarity. As Mike described, Tsuru organizes creative nonviolent actions to challenge immigration detention and bring people into collective resistance. Tonight we're centering the work of Tsuru for Solidarity, a nationwide organization with a mission to close all US detention sites and bring an end to inhumane immigration policies. Sophie Sarkar is the Bay Area organizer with Tsuru for Solidarity. Here's Sophie speaking about their approach using non-cooperation as a guiding strategy. Sophie Sarkar: Non-cooperation is the idea that. I guess there's this larger model for [00:23:00] authoritarianism. And that an authoritarian regime is actually a lot more fragile than we think because it is upheld by many different pillars of society. So for example. The authoritarian regime cannot function unless it has a military force that is supporting it, unless it has a media that's supporting it unless it has elected officials corporations, police forces. And so when we think about strategy, we're really thinking about these specific pillars. Um, instead of just like, how can we take down this, uh, authoritarian regime? We think about like, okay let's choose a pillar and let's unpack all the different layers within that pillar. So, for example, if we choose the pillar of corporations, you know, there are many different corporations that we know are supporting, working in concert and supporting ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, like enterprise, like [00:24:00] Hilton, target, home Depot. And within each of those. , Well, there are the consumers, and then there are the workers, the managers, and then the CEOs. So we try to create strategies that kind of work from at a grassroots level. So starting with the outer layer of like the consumers through boycotts to workers, labor strikes and so forth. When we're talking about non-cooperation, we're really talking about strategies that help us support people to, to dissent and to stop actually working with the regime. we learned a lot from Minneapolis where folks were calling up enterprise, um, and booking booking cars so that ICE couldn't. rent them and then just canceling last minute. Miata Tan: That was Sophie Sarkar Bay Area organizer at Tsuru for Solidarity. As Sophie described, Tsuru uses a framework of [00:25:00] non-cooperation to guide its organizing work. Their campaigns include a range of non-violent actions, letter writing, public demonstrations, and continued pressure efforts. Now returning to my conversation with Rob Buscher, Tsuru's, Director of Operations. I wanted to know how Tsuru is organizing together, how they are thinking about this strategy nationwide.  Rob Buscher: We are all remote workers, so Mike and Becca, our Director of organizing, is based in New York City. Uh, and they frequently travel, uh, every other week traveling across the country to the campaign hubs that are mainly located in the West Coast, where we have a larger Japanese American community. Seattle, Portland, San Francisco Bay Area. Those are kind of our big hubs, and that's where the bulk of Tsuru's volunteer members are located. So much of this work is campaign driven, it's really work that is ideated together [00:26:00] as, as a committee consensus based decision making that takes place both from campaign level, but also regional leaders within each one of those hubs. looking at child and family detention, looking at police prisons and detention as our two detention campaigns. Healing Justice as Mike was talking about, including Resiliency and arts as well as the core healing circles Practice that has been a, a part of our practice since the beginning. And also the solidarity with black reparations campaign. So between each of those four campaigns, we have co-chairs that lead that work. Um, they form our leadership council, which is essentially the, the board of sudu. And together with our six staff, we work very closely with the leadership council to create a plan for the organization at a larger national level. But the day-to-day operations is largely being done by our volunteer members in each one of those locations. We have busy seasons, of course. the Day of Remembrance on February 19th is a, a major focal point for a lot of [00:27:00] our historic remembrance around the anniversary of Franklin Roosevelt signing Executive order 9 0 6 6, which laid the legislative groundwork for the forced removal of our communities from the west coast and that. Has become, not just within Tsuru, but within the Japanese American community. A launch point for revisiting this history from the lens of today and trying to understand what is the role of the survivors and descendants of the Japanese American community as we see parallels to what occurred, happening to families. And individuals around the country in real time. A member of my own family was arrested under the Alien Enemies Act in 1942, and we're seeing the same kind of legislation being used against Venezuelans and other folks from Latin America. you know, when we kind of think about the role that we play today. As staff, we hold a lot of the this work from like a planning standpoint, but the actual boots on the grounds are the volunteer members of the organization. Miata Tan: That was Rob Buscher, the Director of operations at Tsuru for [00:28:00] Solidarity. Now let's return to Sophie Sarkar, the Bay Area organizer for this nationwide movement. Here Sophie reflects on Tsuru's volunteer network and the anti deportation campaigns they help to coordinate across the Bay Area. Sophie Sarkar: So our volunteers are largely Japanese American, world War ii, prison camp survivors and descendants as well as allies. And It's an amazing volunteer base to work with because it is so intergenerational. So for example, we had a strategy retreat for our leaders and our youngest participant was 21 and our oldest participant was 95. And. All the ages in between as well. that's one of the reasons I love working with this group so much because I think it's pretty rare to be in such intergenerational spaces organizing together. Yeah. And, uh, we have volunteers all across the Bay [00:29:00] Area. We have folks that. Our artists that have law degrees that, have an organizing background that have never organized before in their lives. Um, we really try to make ourselves accessible to anyone who's interested in participating. So even if um, someone is just really starting to understand the realities of the systemic violence, against immigrants in this country we, we make space for that and we really try to, offer a lot of political education to folks so. Yeah, at any level they can engage. Yeah, and we have faith leaders. We have folks who have experience with labor unions. So it is a pretty wide variety. But yeah, most of us come together with this shared historical experience of, some people themselves or their families being incarcerated during World War II i, myself am a descendant of, [00:30:00] folks who are incarcerated at Manzanar and Tulle Lake. My family were also so folks who were coerced into renunciation and quote self deportation unquote after the war. I feel so many different various connections to my own family's experiences and what's happening today. And so it just feels like a really deep yeah, just a, a deep opportunity to get to, I. Ground in my, my ancestral historical experience as, as an organizer for Tsuru. I think for many of us by really being able to show up in solidarity with groups that are facing State violence it looks different today in some ways. But it's kind of the same playbook as we might say of how the government treated our family members. And it's really an opportunity for us to. really address the [00:31:00] impacts of what happened to our families on us, across generations to address our trauma, to face it to heal from it. Miata Tan: Definitely. Could you share a little bit about what your day-to-day looks like as a organizer?  Sophie Sarkar: My role is really to work with our volunteer leaders and to support them in, , building out campaigns here in the Bay Area. So in the Bay Area we have, we are part of the ICE out of Dublin coalition and we have our own Tsuru campaign around preventing the reopening of FCI Dublin as an ice detention facility. there is currently no ice detention facility in Northern California, so that would have a huge impact on the entire Bay Area and Northern California in general. So we spend a lot of time on that, working on that campaign. we also have part in Refugees campaign where we have supported individuals at risk of [00:32:00] deportation, um, with kind of mutual aid and wraparound care. And we also have a Palestine working group that is Supporting the J eight community in the Bay Area to organize folks around the genocide and Palestine, and now the war in Lebanon and Iran. And so we will be participating, for example, in a interfaith march, and pilgrimage in May as part of that we have a child and family detention campaign that's more national. we organize monthly general meetings so that folks have a place to land with us. And at those general meetings we, give campaign updates, but we also, really try to do something engaging and like take an action together. So, at the last couple, um, general meetings, we folded paper dolls as part of a Paper Dolls campaign to raise awareness about child and family detention and the [00:33:00] 6,000 families that are currently detained by ICE. Miata Tan: That was Sophie Sarkar the Bay Area organizer at Tsuru for Solidarity. As you heard, children and families detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement are central to their campaign work. One example is the Paper Dolls to Free families Campaign that Sophie mentioned. Tsuru for Solidarity is leading this effort alongside partners in the National Coalition to End Family and Child Detention. The campaign invites people across the country to create paper dolls with little messages of solidarity, which the coalition will deliver to members of Congress. He is Tsuru's Executive Director Mike Ishii, reflecting on the thinking behind this work. Mike Ishii: We have to recognize that great violence has taken place between people and between our groups. But the only way we're going to reconcile this and actually transform it is if we try to repair it in a [00:34:00] transformative way. You know, part of the work that we're doing right now, in the National Coalition to End Family and Child Detention is a campaign that we call free families. And here's what it does, it recognizes that we are trying to free the families who are inside detention. Uh, you know, Liam Ramos, right? The five-year-old with the bunny backpack who was put in Dilley. He's the face of 3,800 children detained in the last year by the Trump administration. It's probably much higher than that because they don't actually report truthfully, the statistics  That really moved people when they saw Liam's face. But what we're trying to do is have it, his story, be connected to a greater story about families and children, because what we know in our own research. And when we look at the voting patterns and why people voted for the Trump administration in the last election, what we see is really angry. People who feel left behind um, well, the system has left behind people. [00:35:00] Healthcare. Food stamps prenatal care, Medicare education, you name it. Housing, all of the things that affect working people who are struggling more and more as prices go up in this country. As the future starts to narrow and people don't see an open feature for themselves but this 1% is getting more and more enriched by the policies. And the violence that they're enacting on communities. And so the Free Families Campaign is really a campaign not just for immigrant to free immigrant families and children. It's really to recenter the the importance and the sAACREdness of families and to organize families across the country for their common purpose, their common good. I was a part of a study and, advisory council that did research about how do we change the narrative on child and family detention nationally. What we found is that the majority of the country holds a value of the sAACREd. Importance of protecting children and the [00:36:00] sanctity of the family. And when we organize and get people into conversation about that, about their own families and about their own children and what it's like to try to survive in this time, what we realize is that there's this great common denominator of parents actually who are struggling in a system that's leaving people behind everywhere, We think that's where the future of movement and solidarity work needs to go. It's about kitchen table issues. It's about opening a future for the next generation. if you look at the, research and sort of the feedback that you hear from younger generations about their future, it's really bleak. What they say, what they're sharing is that they feel betrayed by the adults. Who are leaving them a world full of climate crisis and war and lack of opportunity, lack of rights. And so the organizing work that we're involved in right now, you say, oh, it's immigrant rights work, it's anti detention work. It's actually about revising the [00:37:00] future for really our whole society. As things fall and burn, it's the old order. It's so based in your rationality that it's collapsing and on some level you can't stop it from falling. And so our work in this moment is to get people out of the way. And save as many people as this system collapses. And then to vision the new system that actually is the beloved community that does provide equity, for all people that has been denied to so many of our communities. And what's important in that work, along with the organizing and the intervention work against state violence, is the work around repair and healing. We're part of, a national cohort that's been, um, sort of think tanking and doing work and sharing, across our organizations, our methods and trying to help develop new templates, new forms of how to take healing and repair, especially around multi-generational trauma. And to share it broadly so that people are resourced and have more [00:38:00] access to the skillset and the tools for healing multi-generational trauma as part of regular everyday organizing in communities across the country. Miata Tan: The namesake of Tsuru for Solidarity is deeply symbolic, Tsuru meaning crane in Japanese is described as a creature of transformation. A symbol of healing and repair, not only for the Japanese American community, but all communities. Tsuru for Solidarity, they're a nationwide organization working to close all US detention sites and end inhumane immigration policies We're diving into the Japanese American legacy behind Soda's work and what's driving their fight against deportation. Here's their Executive Director, Mike Ishii. Mike Ishii: We actually have what. Probably more than 12 or 13,000 people at this point who are connected to us in our network. But then on the ground, boots in action, we have hundreds of people who are active and when we call on people like, we need you to come to this major action, we can get [00:43:00] thousands of people to turn out. So this has been a really beautiful evolution of community organizing. We often say. We want to be the allies that our people needed during World War II when they were removed and disappeared from the community. And so that's really our intention that guides us here. in doing so, our work is rooted in relationship building. That's really what that means. Like my mom didn't know that anyone cared about her as a 10-year-old. No one came to the fences of Minidoka. Um, nobody marched in the streets and protested. There were very few people who were fighting for her freedom. And so she didn't know, she didn't have a relationship. So our work is in building relationships within our own community. To Decolonize from white assimilationist forced assimilation policies that are multi-generational, that have positioned us to be inculcated and manipulated as part of a model minority dynamic. We are the group that was used as the poster [00:44:00] child by Ronald Reagan when you rolled out that term. Unwinding that dynamic that has a stranglehold on our community. Because this is a community that was terrified for its survival, and it was grasping for straws of survival and being wildly manipulated by the society in the aftermath of the war. We get to do that work. it's exciting for, for us to get to do that work. And actually, Rob, that's part of his job is to lean into that organizing that we're going to be launching in a fuller manner now that we're here at AACRE. We also get to really build more on what it means to be in solidarity practice. And that's the work I often to get to do with our external partners, what I call our cousins and our siblings in the movement space. And to me, it's some of the most fulfilling work I've ever gotten to do in my life because it breaks your internal isolation that comes from your historical trauma. if you. Have ever woken feeling, how do we go forward? How do we stop this? How do I ever not feel like we're fighting alone? Do this [00:45:00] work because you get daily evidence actually that you're not alone. That we can win when we fight back, and that there are people who care deeply and I get to do that work. I'm very fortunate. As part of the organization our, you know, Becca, who is our Director of organizing, is an incredible strategist and gets to think tactically with our many incredible, incredible volunteers on the ground across the country. I'm fortunate that I know some of them because I was very involved in that work early on. And all I can say is that as a result of having had a chance to be at the frontline in that kind of, deep work with our folks is that I love my people. Oh my God, I love my people. Like I'm just, so moved by the stories of people and their families and survival, and then also their courage to understand that we're a group that achieved a certain amount of privilege in the years since forced assimilation and. The [00:46:00] willingness to understand that's not really something you hold onto, that you actually want to let go of that for your own benefit, and also because it's the right thing to do in the movement toward equity. And so to get to be a part of that movement with my people. Is really a central part of our healing and to get to be a part of that in this organization at this moment, in this moment when we need to step up in, in ways that are so deeply important for the future of really the globe. Whether or not we'll go into an abyss of darkness or we're gonna transform this incredible escalated violence right now, I think we're born for this moment. I really don't think it's an accident. And if we. Each have that choice and opportunity to step into this moment and play a role there. How lucky are we to get to be born right now? So that's a little bit about how I see our role as an organization as we come into [00:47:00] AACRE and as we continue to evolve in this space.  Miata Tan : That's really beautiful. And, and thank you for tying us back into AACRE, which is the Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality, a network of progressive Asian American organizations uh, soon be joining. Rob, could you share what you are excited for now that Tsuru will be joining Aker and, the future work that is coming up.  Rob Buscher: Thanks for that question. You know, I think there's so many incredible organizations that are already under AACREs fiscal sponsorship, so just even in some of the preliminary meetings that we've had with other AACRE group leadership and being in conversation with people that. Oftentimes we've already known for, for many years. You know, I, Eddie Zang, um, and, and others who are, are involved peripherally, as funders are people that I've known since the film festival days. I recently learned. Kaen, who's part of the HR staff at AACRE, a filmmaker that I worked with well over a decade [00:48:00] ago on a Muslim Youth Voices Project here in Philadelphia is also part of the team. You know, just having these little connection points has been pointing us towards the direction that we're meant to be here. This feels like the right moment for Tsuru to be joining Aker. Uh, It feels like there's a lot of, , capacity and bandwidth that we haven't had under our current circumstances. But, um, really with the energy and enthusiasm of all of these groups coming together, I, I feel like we can really make an even bigger impact than we are in these programs. Um, as far as, you know, future. Ideas and, and programs that we have coming up on the horizon. we're very excited about the Kintsugi Healing Conference. Uh, as Mike has spoken about the role of healing within our work. Obviously there's a need for repairing the divides that exist within our own Japanese American community and before we can truly be in, in solidarity and, and do collective liberation work. Being able to heal those divides within our own community needs to take [00:49:00] precedent. So Kintsugi is a way of acknowledging that through this healing, resilience based conference allowing us to turn inwards and really think about the long-term effects of intergenerational trauma, how it's shaped all of our families and individual pathways, and how we can ultimately come together to heal those divides. Um, while also learning more about and training up some of our people around these ideas of collective liberation. it's gonna be taking place in San Francisco's Japan town and we're very excited about that. We'll announce the dates very shortly for October, 2026. Some of the other things that we're working on, as I mentioned earlier, we have our black reparations campaign. Tsuru has been doing this sort of work really in many ways since the beginning, but formalized during the, the summer of 2020 in the aftermath of the George Floyd Uprisings, the Black Reparations Campaign as one of the major work areas, with a number of other Japanese American organizations like New UK Progressives and the Japanese American Citizens League, San Jose Resistors. as part of [00:50:00] this national coalition to, uh, achieve redress and reparations for in solidarity with the descendants of chattel slavery. Our campaign actually had the opportunity to travel to Washington DC last May to participate in National Reparation Networks national Reparations Rally that was attended by over a hundred different, organizations that are working on this issue.  Currently. We're in the process of launching a new project called the 4 0 7 Conversations, or a 4 0 7 project. It's acknowledging that 2026 is 407 years since the beginning of chattel slavery in North America in 1619, and the goal is to have at least 407 conversations about reparations in this calendar year. So it's a way to sort of normalize the topic of reparations within not just Japanese American. community spaces, but sort of in the broader conversation about what does it mean to do reparative justice work. As we look towards the future, we're gonna be doing more [00:51:00] narrative campaign work too. We had the opportunity during the day of Remembrance to launch a, nationwide campaign that reimagined the instructions to all persons of Japanese ancestry poster that was placed in our Japan towns. That signaled the beginning of the so-called evacuation, the forced removal of our communities in our new instructions to persons of Japanese ancestry. It was an opportunity to call people in and to, uh, mobilize and activate our community in defense of the frontline communities that are facing the brunt of state violence today. So as we continue to strengthen and build We're hoping to do even more of these large scale national mobilizations. And I'm just excited that we're gonna be able to do this work together, uh, under AACREs banner. Miata Tan: That was Rob Buscher, Director of Operations at Tsuru for Solidarity. As Rob shared from aiding the movement toward black reparations to anti-ice mobilizations. The team at [00:52:00] Tsuru is gearing up for some important campaigns this year To close out, let's return to Sophie aka their Bay Area organizer. I ask Sophie what work she's most looking forward to in 2026. Sophie Sarkar: I am very excited about our, well, yeah, I'm very excited about a lot of things. I think I'm just excited about the ways in which am able to see as an organizer for Tsuru, just like Japanese American community really coming out and mobilizing and working together in coalition. I think, in this time, as we are all trying to figure out ways to dismantle this authoritarian regime and to resist it's really important for us That like we are moving beyond the kind of hierarchical structure that the regime uses and figuring out how to work in coalition and to really find our lane, find what our role is [00:53:00] as an organization, as individuals. And for me it's really exciting to see that the Japanese American community Is doing that is like really trying to work more and more in coalition and I'm excited to continue to support that. for example, we will be leading a non-cooperation training. With other JA organizations in a few months. to, yeah, really support us as a community to understand what non-cooperation looks like and how we can practice that in our various campaigns. And yeah, I see like the japantown organizations we're part of a, Nihon Machi Coalition there. Getting really serious about preparing for and when ICE comes and doing the workup. Upfront now to really train in knowing your rights and non-cooperation and security, just to get prepared as a collective. This year we're also, Tsuru is also organizing our healing justice [00:54:00] conference in the Bay Area called Kintsugi, that will take place in the fall. As part of that we hope to have a day of direct action. So I'm really excited to have the opportunity to kind of bring together our healing justice work, our healing arts work, and our direct action just integrating the three of those. And hopefully planning a really beautiful and healing and powerful action for us all to take together. Miata Tan: That's really lovely. you've mentioned Healing Justice a few times in your own personal background and experience with Tsuru, but also these fantastic campaigns that we are looking forward to. Could you speak a little bit about how the Japanese American community and the wider Tsuru for Solidarity Network is taking care of each other during this moment? Sophie Sarkar: Yeah, such a good question. I feel like that's something that I just notice our community is so good at [00:55:00] doing. Like, I think, you know, we really try to approach organizing from a relational perspective. So. Folks in little ways, like checking in on each other, making each other lunch. I know I had like afternoon at one of our volunteers houses the other day, just like eating lunch together and venting. But you know, it's just the little ways or like folding origami, yeah, I think on that kind of level, relational level of just checking in and remembering that we are human and really need that kind of connection with each other in these times, especially when it can feel really scary and isolating. Zoomed out a little bit more, you know, like our general meetings and our trainings and those kinds of larger gathering opportunities are just a really nice way. Also, we always have a potluck dinner and feed each other. Like, it's just a really nice way to Offer that kind of care and nourishment to one [00:56:00] another and connect as well. Miata Tan: Love that. It's Always great to gather over food.  Sophie Sarkar: always. Data centers are coming to Fort Bliss in Texas and Dugway Proving Ground in Utah

The Army has selected two companies to build massive data centers at Fort Bliss in Texas and at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. The deal follows President Donald Trump's executive order to allow private companies to use federally owned land and resources to quickly build AI data centers. While the deal is not final, the selection of the two companies will allow the arm to enter negotiations and finalize the terms of the agreement. The Army said the two companies will be “responsible for financing, building, operating, maintaining and decommissioning the data centers on underutilized land at no upfront cost to taxpayers.” The data center at Fort Bliss is expected to be operational in 2027, while the project at Dugway Proving Ground is expected to be completed by 2029. Welcome to your weekly UAS News Update. We have four stories for you this week: the FAA abruptly shut down all airspace around El Paso, Texas, DJI's former Vice President of Sales has been detained in China on bribery charges, a new bill could give Kansas City police the authority to take down drones during the 2026 World Cup, and a drone pilot is facing federal charges after flying over a highly sensitive military site and posting the video on YouTube. Let's get to it.First up, a major story out of Texas where a reported dispute between the FAA and the Pentagon led to the complete shutdown of airspace around El Paso International Airport. The FAA issued a NOTAM classifying the airspace within a 10-nautical-mile radius of the airport as "National Defense Airspace." The order was effective for 10 days and even authorized the use of deadly force. This grounded everything: commercial flights, cargo, and even air ambulance operations. According to reports from CNN and CBS News, this drastic measure was a result of the Pentagon's plan to test a high-energy counter-drone laser at nearby Fort Bliss. The problem was, they hadn't received the final safety sign-off from the FAA. The Pentagon reportedly wanted to use the laser to target cartel drones crossing the border, but the two agencies had a meeting scheduled for a week later to finalize safety protocols. It seems the Pentagon wanted to move faster, and the FAA responded by shutting everything down.Next up, some big news from inside DJI. The company's former Vice President of Sales has been criminally detained in China on suspicion of accepting bribes. The executive, identified only by his surname Yuan, was in charge of DJI's global sales operations from May 2019 through May 2024. According to reports, he is suspected of accepting "huge" amounts of money through illicit deals involving "channel partnerships and order allocations." This is a sell-side problem, meaning it's about corruption in how DJI's drones were sold and distributed, not how they were built. In our third story, Kansas City police could soon have the authority to take down drones during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A new bill has been introduced called the Counter Drone State and Local Defender Act. It would temporarily grant state and local law enforcement the power to intercept and disable drones that pose a threat. Currently, only federal agencies have the legal authority to use counter-drone systems to jam, seize, or shoot down a drone. This bill would create a pathway for local agencies to get that power and this legislation could become a model for how security is handled at future large-scale events like the Super Bowl. And finally this week, a story that serves as a perfect example of what not to do. A drone pilot in Maryland is facing federal charges after allegedly flying his drone over the Raven Rock Mountain Complex and then posting the footage to his YouTube channel. If you're not familiar with Raven Rock, it's often called the "second Pentagon." The airspace above it is classified as restricted national defense airspace. According to the court affidavit, a military official saw the video on YouTube and reported it to the FBI. Investigators then traced the video back to the pilot, searched his home, and seized the drone. He's now been charged with a knowing or willful violation of national defense airspace, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison. Today on America in the MorningLatest In Minneapolis Two border patrol agents who fired their weapons in the fatal shooting of Minneapolis ICE protester Alex Pretti last Saturday have been put on administrative leave as new video shows Pretti getting into an altercation with ICE officials 11 days prior to his death.  John Stolnis has the latest from Washington.   Government Shutdown Likely It's looking more and more like another government shutdown will happen as the Senate grapples with funding for the Department of Homeland Security, and Democrats are demanding some reforms following the incidents involving ICE in Minneapolis.  Correspondent Ed Donahue reports on the status of budget negotiations.   FBI Investigating Omar Attack The FBI is taking the lead in the investigation after a man was arrested for spraying a liquid on Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar during a Minneapolis town hall.  Correspondent Donna Warder reports.   Trump's Warning To Iran President Trump has a stern warning for Iran, as a massive military fleet has sailed into the Indian Ocean.  Correspondent Clayton Neville reports.   Two Trials For Mangione In New York, prosecutors are seeking a July trial in Luigi Mangione's state murder case, with his federal trial slated for fall.  Correspondent Julie Walker reports.   FBI Investigating Georgia 2020 Election The FBI has opening an investigation into a Georgia election office regarding the 2020 presidential election.  Correspondent Haya Panjwani reports.   No FED Rate Cut The Federal Reserve says it is keeping its benchmark interest rate as-is, after three cuts last year, and despite objections from President Trump.  Washington correspondent Sagar Meghani reports.   Rubio Faces Senate Secretary of State Marco Rubio testified Wednesday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee discussing a number of topics, including the administration's actions involving Venezuela.  Bob Brown reports that Rubio was also questioned on President Trump's plans for Greenland, Cuba, and Iran.   Trump Accounts The Trump Administration is hyping the launch of "Trump Accounts for Kids."  Correspondent Clayton Neville reports on the plan, and a famous rapper who's backing it.   Protests & Questions At Two ICE Facilities There were protests in Texas at an ICE facility south of San Antonio where a 5-year-old is being detained, which led to several people being arrested in clashes with federal agents.  At another detention center, this on one the grounds of Fort Bliss outside of El Paso, questions are being raised after a Cuban migrant was found dead.  Lisa Dwyer reports on 911 calls that were made and what the autopsy report showed in the death of the ICE detainee.  Noem On The Hot Seat There are now bipartisan calls for President Trump to remove Kristi Noem as Homeland Security secretary.  Correspondent Ed Donahue reports.   War Casualties Rising It will soon be four years since Russia amassed an army to invade Ukraine, and a new report shows staggering casualty figures on both sides in numbers not seen since World War II.  Correspondent Laurence Brooks reports.   Finally   Stephen Colbert is looking ahead to his final episode for his late-night talk show.  Entertainment reporter Kevin Carr has details. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said in a statement that Victor Manuel Diaz appears to have killed himself Wednesday at the sprawling tent complex at the U.S. Army's Fort Bliss base in El Paso; and Dallas' decorative crosswalks may have run out of pavement. In a newly released notice, Texas regulators denied the city's request to keep the artistic markings and set an end-of-month deadline to plan their removal or risk losing state or federal transportation funding. Rico has been a very close friend of mine who I have known since we were young U.S. Army JAG First Lieutenants at Fort Bliss, Texas.  Beyond that, Rico introduced me to my wife of 36 years, Patty, as we all lived in the same apartment complex on the west side of El Paso.  As I always describe to people, Rico is the closest individual to being a "Renaissance man" that I have ever met.  Everything that he does, he does great!  His reputation at Fort Bliss was that of a fantastic lawyer whom everyone respected.  On this episode of the podcast, we talk about the arc of his career.  Here are two facts that I have always really enjoyed about him –Rico's burning desire to attend the University of Notre Dame since he was very young, as seen here,  and also his knowledge that he would be involved in immigration law for the long term of his career, as seen here in the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, Volume 1, Number 1 as editor in chief.  Rico is a great guy, widely admired, and a friend and mentor to many.  I enjoyed catching up with him on this episode of the podcast.

Despite the fact that so many of them make it look easy, the daily lives of senior U.S. military leaders can be incredibly demanding. Laura Weimer examined how senior leaders manage their well-being (or, at times, struggle to do so) amidst these demanding careers, and she's in the studio with host JP Clark to share her discoveries. Drawing from her research, Weimer highlighted the unique pressures of senior roles, including frequent relocations, intense scrutiny, and the weight of consequential decisions. She also discussed the inevitable challenges of mid-life, such as caring for aging parents and navigating evolving family dynamics, which compound work-related stress. Weimer's key takeaway? Developing a strong sense of identity, meaning, and purpose is essential for fostering resilience and sustaining leadership effectiveness. I don't know if necessarily it's the Army's job to help us figure out our identity. I do think it would be valuable for the Army to acknowledge the value of those conversations and maybe even prompt those conversations. And that will lead us into a further discussion about where this man even gets his money from.  So that's how we're going to start the show off. Once we move through that topic, we're going to discuss about how the CEO of Telegram, the founder of Pavel, has been arrested in France. And now the official charges are out. So we will take a look at that. Some of the things that people have said surrounding that situation and more. We'll also take a look at the RFK Jr. endorsement, some of the situations that have come of that, including him losing his secret service detail as a result.  Then we will transition into some of the propaganda. And, uh, we've seen around the Kamala Harris, Tim walls campaign that has now found its way to Amazon hats.  You might be curious and I was too. So we'll talk about that too. Jump into it.  It has officially been 30 days since Mr. Beast came out and said that he had become aware of serious allegations surrounding his co host, Chris, the transsexual who was grooming children.  Now, if you're curious what Mr. Beast has been up to in those 30 days, Let's take a look and see what he has been doing. Now, here is the tweet from MrBeast, which says, 29 days ago,  well, the 24th, so coming up on, uh, 31 days. He said, Over the last few days, I've become aware of serious allegations of Ava Tysons, not Chris Ava. That's the name.  I think it was Chris before, now it's Ava. Um,  Ava Tyson's behavior online, and I'm disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts. I would hope so. You're talking about children here. During that time, I have been focused on hiring an independent third party to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure I have all the facts. That said, I've seen enough online and taken immediate action to remove Ava from the company, my channel, and any association with Mr. Beast. I do not condone or support any of the inappropriate actions. I will allow the independent investigators the necessary time to conduct a  comprehensive investigation and will take further actions based on their findings. This was seen by a hundred and six million people.  Now I have one question as a result of that.  Where's the thorough investigation? Where's the thorough investigation, Mr. Beast? We should be able to know that you weren't hiding this from the general public while also  getting hundreds of millions of views and money. From all of these online sources, including the time that our children, the time that adults have been spending watching your videos while you have been at least passively aware. Of what this man was doing to these children.  So where's the investigation, Mr. Beast? We want to know.  Also, let's take a look at what you've been up to for these 30 days since this post, because you haven't posted a thing on Twitter. You haven't updated us at all  in regards to the information surrounding this allegation for the person that you hired and kept around and, and brought a focus around. Right. And so when you think that there's these huge, literally  the most publicly known.  Transsexual,  besides Caitlyn Jenner,  is Mr. B's co host, Ava, or Chris, whatever his name is, right? The most well known, the most in the public eye, the most seen,  was Mr. B's co host. And so when you have something that's so in the public sphere, when you have something that's being pushed by the government, and by the, the, the social, uh, Being that is the grossness of our society's, you know, who, who controls our society.  We're not going to get into that today. Sorry, guys, but you might know what I'm talking about when you get into the idea of where these social constructs come from and how they're being publicly pushed with funneled with hundreds of billions of dollars to push these ideologies to crumble our society from inside.  Once you realize that, and then you look at the people who.  Who are engaged in this at the most visual level. This is the one. This is the one. This is the one your kids know about. This is the one who hundreds of millions of children watched Mr. Beast condone this transsexual being pushed in front of them, wearing makeup, putting on women's clothes, and then passing himself off as a woman when really all he was was a pedophile, weirdo.  That's the reality, right? So when you realize that, and then you look at him, not updating us, not making a single statement, not saying a thing about this for 30 full days.  Well, he had to been up to something, right? He had to have some, some serious investigations going on on his side, at least I would hope so. So let's take a look at his YouTube channel and see in the last 30 days that Mr. Beast has been silent about the transsexual that was a part of his team for years. Years, years and years and years.  What has he been up to? Well,  let's go ahead and take a look  in the last 30 days.  Here are Mr. Beast's post.  Well,  he had 50 YouTubers fight for 100 million.  I've gathered 50 of the biggest YouTubers on the planet. And whichever one lasts the longest in this cube wins that million dollars for their subscribers.  Never before seen in YouTube history. One billion subscribers worth of YouTubers are competing for one million dollars. And the rules are simple. All right, put the camera down. Close the line.  Okay.  So, if you step on the red line, you lose your subscribers a million dollars. So be careful. Last to leave Okay, so there's one thing he was doing, which was challenging a bunch of YouTubers for a million dollars to stay in a box.  That's what was more interesting than him investigating his team. Let's see number two. I just built this bunker and these two people who have never met each other are going to attempt to live down here for the next 100 days. Take your blindfolds off. Hugo, this is Rayne. Rayne, this is Hugo. This is our first time ever meeting, and this is the nuclear bunker. They will call home. Everything you would need to live for the next 100 days is in this bunker. Dang. You can even grow your own vegetables. Oh, cool. And if you come over here, you'll find your bedroom all 40 feet underground. Wait, what? Oh my God. Above you is a bed. Nice. And here's another bed and moose. Okay. There's another thing. He's been up to blocking two people in a pseudo bunker, 40 feet under the ground for another. 500, 000. So there's 1. 5 million this man is giving away. He has to be rich from what?  We'll look in a minute.  And what else has he been up to? Well,  during the time that he should have been investigating  this pedophile on his team, he also  I don't normally do intros like this, but I'm currently descending hundreds of feet into a cave that runs over five kilometers deep into the earth.  And whether we like it or not, as soon as my friends and I touched the ground,  we are officially stranded here for the next seven days.  That might've been the scariest thing I've ever done. First things.  All right. So  There you have it. That's what he's been up to. Instead of truly investigating, maybe, I don't know, contemplating, soul searching as to why he held this pedophile so close to him for so long and had no idea. No idea at all.  Or did he? Because many people allege that he was aware of these actions.  And now, I'm not somebody who's trying to hate on Mr. Beast. I think he's trying to His videos are phenomenal. I think that the work that he's been able to do and build his, his following is amazing,  but I have some questions.  What else are you been up to? Well, these things don't seem to be as important as gaining back the loyalty from the parents who let their children watch you or the parents themselves who watch this guy's seen by everybody. He's not just seen by children, right? This is that, but a big, vast. large percentage of his audience happens to be children who he enabled this trans person to be around constantly gave them the platform that gave them the power over these children  made this person a celebrity all while this pedophile was pretending to be a woman validated that to his audience  and then acts so surprised when that person actually ends up being a pedophile  Hmm.  That's weird.  Very weird.  So where does this man get his money? He gave away 1. 5 million. 1. 5 million in just two weeks there, according to those two videos.  Interesting.  So let's look here.  Now, somebody alleges this was one year ago. YouTuber MrBeast is funded by people with deep pockets.  Who could those people be?  Because he's definitely not making all of his money from YouTube. You don't spend that much money producing a video and then give away that much money and with 30 million views on YouTube, 40 million, 50 million, 90 million.  Make it all back every single time. Like he's definitely losing money on a lot of this. So here we go. So did you know that Osman Gold and Mr. Beast along belong to the same talent agency and that they are both directly connected to Disney and Amazon?  Today, I learned that a company named Knight Media literally manages basically every single Zoomer E celebrity, including Hasan Piker, Nikolulu, Dream, and these guys. If you ever look at the YouTube trending tab, at least one of Knight's talents will be up there. Knight Media is a subsidiary of Knight Inc. Itself is valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars from venture capitalists and angel investors.  Who owns Knight? I literally just ran names off of LinkedIn and read business articles.  Hmm.  So.  One of them, Felipe Neto, is now the most powerful man in Brazil. He profited off of every single political trend over the bizarre last decade. He's the architect of YouTube content system. His business has gone so deep into Portugal that some kids are speaking Brazilian Portuguese.  Hmm.  Somebody else said, dead internet. Right? Have you ever heard of the dead internet theory? Basically, that everybody and anybody that you interact with on the internet is fake. And that the internet essentially turned into a strip mall from the world itself, where you only have several small choices as to where to go at any given time, essentially. Very interesting theory.  Uh, let's see. What else we got in here. So, the people who fund this are essentially worth over 300, 000.  It's not this like boots from the ground, you know, bootstrapping YouTube channel. This guy is backed by huge money. He's not just taking all of his money and funneling it back into there from ad campaigns being ran on his YouTube channel. There is very, very powerful people behind Mr. Beast. It's not this, you know,  from the ground up type of thing.   So all of that to say, that you should at least be  considering the idea that maybe this man isn't as organic as he seems. Maybe you should be considering the idea that some of the themes that he's going to promote in his videos aren't themes that he wants to promote personally. Even some of the people that he puts on his team,  a la Ava, may not be there because it's what's in the best interest for your children, for you, for society to have involved. And, at the end of the day, this man has done nothing to come out and say, here's what the investigators have found. Nothing.  And that's what,  I guess we'll have to wait and see. Is he hoping, is he, what it looks like to me is that he's playing the PR game where they just tell you, shut up and it'll go away.  Well, shut up and it will go away may work for many things. I don't think it exactly works for you promoting a pedophile to hundreds of millions of people during a, as a Trojan horse  through the trans movement. And by movement, I mean the trans mind virus.  That is permeating our culture right now.  And isn't it funny that almost every single time you see these people in the public eye, they eventually are on Fox news for being arrested for something.  Interesting.  Interesting.  All right. Now that leads us to another topic, kind of in the public sphere as of late, although this one seems to be a little bit more about censorship, which is that the official charges have been released  against the telegram founder, Pavel Durov. during his arrest in France. And here they,  Durov is facing up to 20 years in prison.  Now here are the charges. And almost every single one of these has the word complicity.  What they're trying to essentially state is that by not censoring people,  that he is in, that he is in violation of their country's laws. By not censoring them. Okay. Complicity Web Mastering an online platform enable to enable an illegal transaction, an organized group refusal to communicate at the request of competent authorities.  Okay. Competent is an interesting word there for them. Complicity, possessing pornographic images of minors, complicity, distributing, offering, or making available pornographic images of miners.  Complicity. Acquiring, transporting, or possessing, offering, or selling narcotic substances. So they're basically saying anything and everything that's been done illegal on our platform, on your platform, unless you comply with us, we're going to come after you for everything anybody's ever done on the platform because you didn't listen to us and you didn't censor these people.  That's what they're saying. Complicity, organized fraud. Complicity, making selling or making available without legitimate reason, tools, programs, or data designed for or adapted to get access to or damage the operation of automated data processing systems. Wow. That's a stretch. Criminal association with a view. To committing a crime or an offense punishable by five more years of imprisonment, laundering of the proceeds  derived from organized groups, offenses, or crimes, providing cryptology services amid to ensure confidentiality without certified declaration, providing a cryptology tool, not solely ensuring authentication or integrity monitoring without prior declaration, importing a cryptology tool, ensuring authenticity or integrating monitoring without prior  declaration.  Wow.  So,  Now somebody warned, I believe it was somebody that was, uh, had spoken out against  Trump before. I don't know, that was just the headline that I read. But essentially they were warning that, oh well, Elon Musk, you might be next. And that's like, if this holds up in court, on the court of law, in this country, yeah.  If they're just gonna come after you for anything and everything anybody's ever done on your platform unless you comply with their censorship,  Then yes, absolutely. They're going to go after Elon. They should go after Mark Zuckerberg. They're going to go after literally everybody and anybody who hosts any large website or platform.  That's the reality of this. But guess what? It's only going to be applied specifically to people who they don't like or who don't do exactly what they want. And the second that you step out of line, we're going to jail you for it. Not for something that you did, but for something that you Allowed to happen within your platform,  right? Like you're supposed to be able to watch hundreds of millions of people's actions and  do something about every single one of them all of the time.  Crazy.  Somebody said, Same can be said about any messaging platform ever, including the postal service. That's a great point, right? So if this guy has to go to jail, so does everybody involved in the USPS  offices. Great point.  All of it could be true. Some of it could be true. None of it could be true. None of that matters when you have the machine against you.  Now this guy's going to jail before literally anybody is going to jail for Epstein's List.  Isn't that interesting?  Now, transitioning over to Trump and RFK Jr. Now, Trump, uh, RFK Jr. suspended his campaign in the states that he said, um, would affect the potentially affect the outcome in a negative way towards Trump.  So he essentially said, I'm going to suspend my, my campaign in these states. Now, the reason that he did that  was actually quite interesting because he said, there's still a chance  that he could potentially, if Kamala, And Donald Trump essentially tie in electoral votes that it could come down to a potential, uh,  a runoff race, right? Where he could actually, if he remains on the ballot, could still have a chance to become president. So he said, I'm going to pull out of every state that  would potentially negatively affect Trump. As a result, he's hoping  that he could find himself in a position in office under Trump.  Now, during this time,  Trump accepted RFK Jr. 's endorsement and he vowed, Trump vowed to release the JFK assassination files.  Now, it says,  Hours after being endorsed by third party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump said he would release all of the remaining documents pertaining to the assassination of John F. Kennedy if he were elected president in November, as part of a proposed new commission on presidential assassination attempts, including The one that targeted him. Now, if you recall, it may have been my last podcast or potentially the one before it,  but I said this, he would be crazy not to release these documents. They literally, the same people that killed Bobby Kennedy, that killed John F. Kennedy, all of them are likely involved. At least the agencies, because some of those people are going to be dead at this point,  are very likely involved in Donald Trump's assassination.  It says, speaking at a rally in Glendale. Arizona, Trump also pledged that if elected, he would establish a panel of top experts that would work with Kennedy, a prominent anti vaccine advocate, this says, to investigate childhood health problems,  as they should.  Now, when you go back and you listen to RFK's speech that he did, pulling out of it, I think Robert F. Kennedy's speech was one of the greatest speeches in history. Ever in politics by any politician ever. And honestly, if you've been listening to me for quite some time, you know, that I have considered for a very long time voting for Robert F. Kennedy jr. And this speech solidified why I felt that way.  Everything that is wrong with politics is embodied in one way or another in each of the candidates that are left. And one being completely corrupt, terribly unequipped  to take office, absolutely a puppet for the establishment, and the other being pretty divisive. Now again, I voted for Donald Trump. I'll vote for Donald Trump again. I voted for him the last two elections. Now that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is out of the way.  But I just want you to go listen to To RFK jr speech and not understand like there's no way you don't understand why he's a compelling candidate that man is the only man not wearing a mask in some way shape or form and maybe  trump isn't wearing a mask maybe it's just has a mask on all the time and that's what he was just he's born a character and i think that's probably more the case than anything but i do think that rfk jr has the perfect  the only person that had the ability to potentially unite our nation. He had a ton of popularity among Republicans. He had a ton of popularity among Democrats, like true Democrats, not the far left that we see in today's politics.  His speech was amazing. It was unbelievable. 80 percent of it was about corruption in the health, that we need to the health issues we need to address in our country today. And he had tears running from his eyes by the end of it, because he's truly a good person. And he truly understands the weight of what this election will bring. And  it would be terribly sad to see another eight years go by without RFK. holding some very, very prominent position in office because he is one of the only real politicians that we've come across in the last 30 years.  So this goes on to say that Kennedy, the scion of one of the most country's famous democratic political dynasties, got a roar of approval from Republicans when he joined Trump on stage at the Republican campaign rally in Glendale. Bobby, Bobby, the crowd chanted. Kennedy had announced earlier that he's suspending his campaign. Da, la, la, la, la. Now, the hope would be that Kennedy would be put in charge of, here's my hope, I hope Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gets put in charge of the CIA, because that would be the ultimate hope. Fuck you, from his family, back to the people that planned his assassination.  That would be absolute justice, and I hope he would clean it up, or obliterate it, shatter it into the wind into a thousand pieces, like his uncle said that they should.  Now, more realistically, he could find himself a part of the,  um, the health administrations, including the, overseeing the WHO, the NIH, well not the WHO, but the NIH, um, and all of the, uh, Uh, the FCC,  uh, overseeing children's food in school systems, uh, being able to ban the dyes that are permeating all of our food, see the oils that he talks about constantly, like this man is the epitome, he's 70 years old, and he's jacked, super healthy guy, is outside all the time,  he would be amazing in that position, and he truly, truly cares. Which is all you can ask for in today's modern political environment.  Just don't be fake. Don't be fake. Don't be corrupt. Don't be  evil. Like I think these are pretty basic things, but it's very, very hard to come by  in today's modern political environment.  Name three people that you can think of that are like true.  Now, one of those other people that come to mind  would be Tulsi Gabbard. Another Democrat that I would have considered a great pick for VP. Um, I think a lot of Republicans tend to agree with that statement.  But Tulsi Gabbard would be a phenomenal pick for VP. I really wish he would have picked her over Vance. I don't have any affinity for Vance, I don't have any malice either, but I just, I don't see him as a very excitable character to the general public. I think Tulsi would have been a huge, huge win for Trump's campaign.  Uh, but anyways, Tulsi Gabbard has now come out and endorsed Donald Trump. So the two most likeable, most Politicians in the Democratic Party are now backing Donald Trump. And I think those are the two biggest people that he could have got to back him. Like what's next, Bernie Sanders? Like that's about all that's left to endorse Trump for him to completely, uh, obliterate the Democratic Party.  Now, one thing that came out of this is that the Biden Harris administration had revoked the secret service protection of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. So immediately following RFK endorsing Trump,  Biden and Harris pulled RFK's  Secret Service.  Detail that was protecting him from the multiple assassination attempts that have happened on his life over the last  few months, you know, like weeks after actually giving it to him. Um, now to be fair, even though Biden pulled his security detail,  I think at this point, if I had the money, I would probably buy my own security detail. If I was Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Because after the horrible comedy that was watching Donald Trump almost get assassinated under the protection of the secret service. Maybe that's not the bodyguard that you truly want if people are actually trying to kill you.  So there's that. Now here's Tulsi Gabbard endorsing Donald Trump. Uh, it says on Monday, speaking at the National Guard Association alongside 2024 GOP presidential candidate, Donald Trump, former democratic house Republican or house representative Tulsi Gabbard announced her endorsement of Trump. Now this makes it even better. The fact that Tulsi Gabbard. Endorsed. Donald Trump is so much sweeter when you understand that she was the one who completely obliterated, just destroyed Kamala Harris on stage to where you never saw her again after Tulsi Gabbard went after her in the debates,  and here it is. Let's watch it.  So, I mean, what I say when I share with you that I know that President Trump understands the grave responsibility that a president and commander in Chief Bears for every single one of our lives. Whether you're a soldier, you're an airman, a marine, sailor, or a coastie, he keeps us in his heart in the decisions that he makes.  We saw this through his first term in the presidency,  when he not only didn't start any new wars, he took action to de escalate and prevent wars. He exercised the courage that we expect from our Commander in Chief. In exhausting all measures of diplomacy,  having the courage to meet with adversaries, dictators, allies, and partners alike in the pursuit of peace, seeing war as a last resort.  The truth is, as we head towards our decision as a country in November, the same cannot be said about Kamala Harris.  In fact, the opposite is true. And we're living through this reality today as.  This administration has us facing multiple wars on multiple fronts and regions around the world, and closer to the brink of nuclear war than we ever have been before.  This is one of the main reasons why I'm committed to doing all that I can to send President Trump back to the White House where he can once again serve us as our commander in chief.  And there you go. S. soldier fled to them  because he sought refuge in North Korea from the United States. Now, that's really interesting when you understand that all the people, all of the people, Who are defectors of North Korea, say that it's the worst place possible.  Now, number one, how did this guy get into North Korea? Because the border is supposed to be like, shoot on sight, essentially. Number two, why would he think that that's a safer place than, I don't know, the United States of America?  Interesting.  Let's go ahead and read this article. Says the Pentagon cannot verify claims by North Korea  that U. S. soldier Travis T. King willingly sought refuge in the North to escape racial discrimination in the U. S. Army.  So this kid fled the army, this soldier fled the army to North Korea because of discrimination. That's how soft our military members are today. That's how soft they are. They think that they're being discriminated against in the military, which, by the way, really doesn't happen. When you're in the military,  I'm a veteran, when you're in the military, literally nobody acknowledges color. Like, nobody.  That you're all in it together when you're in boot camp, when you're in tech school, when you're deployed, when you're on base together, when you're all hanging out, it is a big, huge, like melting pot of people is the least discriminatory culture that you'll ever find in your entire life. Like everybody's just. It's a brotherhood. Nobody cares what color you are. Nobody cares where you came from, what ethnicity you are, what your, your history is, is, growing up, where, like, nobody cares about any of that stuff. You're there for a mission, and you do that mission. That's all you care about.  So, the Pentagon says it cannot verify claims by North Korea that the U. S. soldier Travis T. But she added, I was kind of told that he said a little something like that to his uncles  and that their approach with him was a little different than me. I'm mom. Wow. Uh,  that's hilarious.  Uh,  yeah, that's hilarious. Um, all right. And the last article here,  This one coming from just today says that the US soldier who fled to North Korea will plead guilty to desertion. Other criminal charges, lawyers saying, uh, Travis King, the U S army private who last year, last year,  how has he been detained this whole time? But those articles were from like,  was that  2023?  This guy has been gone for a year.  No way. Yeah, those articles were August 24. I thought this was like three days ago, seven days ago, a week and a half ago. Why has nobody talked about this army soldier fleeing to North Korea because of racial discrimination, North Korea for a whole year. Nobody's talked about this. This is I've never heard of this. And I was running my podcast. Then for the past three, four years, nobody's talked about this at all. That's hilarious. A whole year. How long was he in Korea for? Let's read this article and find out.  I'm so sorry for this. I should have read further. I so sorry. I should have looked at that. I just said August 15th, August 24th, August 26th. I just thought this was this like breaking story that nobody was talking about. This has been happening for a year.  Oh my gosh. All right.  August 26th,  this is, this is the actual new breaking update for you guys. So Travis King, the U S army private who last year ran into North Korea from South Korea is expected to plead guilty to multiple criminal charges, including desertion.  The U S army has charged him with 14 offenses under the uniform code of military justice. King will plead guilty to five of those charges and not guilty to the remaining offenses.  which the army intends to dismiss.  King's guilty plea will be entered at a general court martial where he will explain his actions to military judge. Uh, the guilty plea and sentencing will be held on September 20th. Mark your calendar.  Travis is grateful to his friends and family who have supported him and to all who outside the circle who did not prejudge his case based on the initial allegations.  North Korean government released King last September 18th. So he served like two months. When he reportedly sprinted away from a tour group in a demilitarized zone, there was no contact with King during his capture and North Korean officials were initially obtuse in responding to U. S. inquiries. The incident happened after King finished two months in a South Korean detention facility following  a physical altercation with locals. A senior defense official previously told Fox News. Wow. So he got like a fist fight with some South Korean dudes and then ran to North Korea because they were being unfair to him. Cause he's black.  Allegedly throughout the time he was in the facility, he made comments that he did not want to come back to America. King was eventually released on July 10th and sent home Monday to Fort Bliss.  Um,  so let's read that again. Uh, he finished two months in a South Korean detention facility for getting in a fight with a local. Uh, throughout the time he was at the facility, he made comments that he did not want to come back to America. King was eventually released on July 10th and sent home Monday to Fort Bliss.  So, he was in that detention facility. That timeline doesn't match up. But anyways, uh, North Korea state media reported that King confessed to crossing into the country because of inhumane. Okay, we talked about that. King's mother disputed the claims. And there we are.  September 20th, people. That's what we're going to find out.  Uh, Somebody says, I wonder if this entire problem can be attributed to the lower standards for enlistment that all military branches but the Marines have resorted to in order to reach their recruiting goals. It just seems unlikely that this is the first time this individual has been involved in trouble. Yeah, possibly.  Uh, somebody said, I would have no problem if he's sent back to North Korea. This is where he wanted to go. Yeah, have fun, bud.  Uh, it says in  1983, Private First Class White defects guard duty to the demilitarized zone in North Korea. And North Korea used him to As propaganda. Three months later, his body was found floating in a river south of North Korea.  King IL Sung said he was overwhelmed,  uh, and loved the support to the North Korean people couldn't meet standards. Wow,  you misunderstand. Even North Korea didn't want him. They gave him back freely. Uh, yeah. Shouldn't he be invited to the White House and given a beer with Harris  ? Uh.  Yeah,  very interesting. That's crazy. So here's a fun thought experiment.  What if he's right? What if North Korea is not this like, desolate, dystopian place where everybody's being like, totalitarianism to the core?  What if North Korea is hiding a secret utopia?  Where the elite live in luxury,  fueled by trillions in untapped resources. What  And that's what some people tend to believe.  I don't know if I agree with them. But that is what some people believe is that what if North Korea was really this huge propaganda campaign by the West.  And what if really what's happening there is actually utopia,  where Kim Jong Un actually doesn't  defecate,  where they have far advanced technology than us.  Where they have unlimited resources, none of them really have to work in this communist, socialist, totalitarian regime, and everybody's happy about it.  What if all the defectors there  It's hard to say this seriously, but like, think about it. Let's, like, let's, okay, let me, let me put on my serious hat here.  Here, here's the argument that can be made around this, alright?  There's actually a legitimate argument to be made that North Korea has an unbelievable amount of resources. North Korea is believed to be sitting on untapped natural resources potentially worth trillions of dollars, including vast resources of rare earth materials, including coal, gold, and many other minerals. These resources, resources could theoretically provide the economic foundation for a prosperous society, particularly if the government has been discreet, discreetly. Uh, exploiting these assets. Now, there's supporting evidence surrounding this, which is the fact that North Korea is estimated to be one of the largest reserves of rare earth elements in the world, which are critical for modern technology, from smartphones to military equipment.  Uh, reports suggest that these resources could be worth six to ten trillion dollars.  Given North Korea's isolation and the secrecy surrounding its economic activities, it's plausible that the regime has been strategically using these resources to maintain a hidden wealth based economy. fueling a more prosperous society than outsiders are aware of, right? Like what if North Korea is just like the real life Wakanda, where everybody thinks it's like this third world country. And it's actually this utopia with flying cars, and unlimited resources, and people are all super happy. And they have, you know, all of these things that we don't know about all this technology, all of these minerals, all these resources, all of this advanced modern societies, like, What if Wakanda is real?  And it's actually North Korea. That's the question I'm posing to you.  Uh,  now another side of this is that there's actually legitimate,  uh, legitimate evidence that shows that North Korea is known for its extensive network of underground facilities. Like huge, massive, underground military cities. Not just military bunkers, but cities. Designed to protect and sustain its elite. The underground cities might be equipped with advanced technology  Luxurious living conditions, but like nobody knows this right you go into North Korea Like you're getting a tour guide who's gonna walk you through these like fake cities. Have you ever seen those videos?  Like nobody knows what's going on there legitimately The only thing that we know is the propaganda that's being propagated by Kim Jong un which looks more satirical than anything at all  That you've ever seen like any video that is of Kim Jong un. It looks like a comedy like a legitimate comedy Um, so like what's actually going on there? Is it really just this like comical? satirical country where this  totalitarian brutal regime of or is it like  Or are they hiding something? Like, I think both of those are just as plausible as each other. Uh,  it says there's multiple reports and defector testimonies that describe vast underground networks in North Korea, initially built for military purposes. Satellite imagery has also revealed suspicious land formations and construction activities that hint at larger underground facilities. Now, if you recall, I've done a deep dive into the DUMS. The deep underground military bases that are under, uh, the United States of America, like huge, unbelievably huge, vast, like cities, infrastructures, military bases underground that nobody, unless you're in there and have the secret security clearances know about. And we found out about them because there was, uh, Strava data. Strava is like the, the, or was it like my fitness, um,  like the whoop app, whatever that is, the my fitness pal type of a thing that you put on your, your,  I think of Strava, Strava data got leaked and it's this running technology where runners put this like on their shoes or it's on your phone app and it tracks where you run and people, the data got leaked from Strava. And when it got leaked, they saw these. Uh, there was like hundreds of people running this track in the middle of nowhere, and I think it was like Antarctica or something. And what they found was a deep underground military base where these military members were tracking their runs in the deep underground military base. So these things exist. The data's been leaked. The US has these. They're huge, like massive cities under the ground.  So who's to say that North Korea doesn't have that too? I mean, there's a lot of evidence that suggests the same. Um,  right, designed, and so it talks about the land formations and construction activities that hint at large underground military bases. Uh, secrecy and controlled information. The secret, the extreme secrecy and control over information in North Korea allow the regime to maintain a dual reality. While the global community  sees a nation plagued by poverty and repression, There could be a totally different reality that's going on there. Um, North Korea's tight control over media and information, both domestically and internationally, is well documented. The regime's ability to obscure much of its military and economic activities from even the most advanced civilization, or intelligence services, suggests that it could be just concealing the truth. Aspects of its social infrastructure This is supported by the fact that there is very little known about the true extent of north korea's internal developments And the country's isolation means that much of what is known comes from the controlled sources either being the news The defectors right which could very easily be  Uh, people who are paid actors, just like we've had, you know, crisis actors here in the U. S. Um, and then it goes on to talk about how there's plenty of suggestselective Western propaganda. So proponents argue that Western mediaand this is all like a pro  article designed to at least give some evidence of this, so it's like, just Being transparent with you. This is not like some legitimate government resource or some scientific article,  but it is giving legitimate points about this. So, but it is in support of this idea of the North Korea utopia. Um,  but it says by depicting the country as a failed state, Western powers can justify sanctions, military posturing, and political pressure. This narrative could be deliberately exaggerated or even fabricated, masking the true nature of North Korean society.  And then it also talks about how there is inconsistent defector testimony. So while many defectors report dire conditions in North Korea, there have been cases where their testimonies have been questioned or even debunked. Some defectors have returned to North Korea, which, which proponents argue wouldn't happen if the country was in terrible as terrible as depicted, right? Why would you go back there if like, and there's some horrible videos like, and I'm not meaning like to having this conversation to like downplay those defectors testimonies? Because, um, who is the, there was the woman that was on.  She goes on and talks about some like horrific, horrific things that are going on there and like all these terrible, the terrible famines that are happening. Like I'm not trying to delegitimize that and like,  but it's an interesting concept, right? When, when everything has been shown to be false and propaganda, like you start to question some weird stuff, guys. This may be one of those cases. Um, but I'm sure that my, my bullshit radar is like pretty well up here. I, I'm not  totally buying this theory, but it's a fun thought experiment that North Korea's Wakanda. That's all I'm saying. And that is a good fair point that like, why would a defector go back there? Right. Unless their family's being threatened. Maybe like that. That'd be a good reason. Um, this suggests that life in North Korea might be in more nuanced with certain segments of the population living in better conditions than the Western media portrays. Yeah.  Interesting. Not sure what I make of that, guys, but that's at least, that's at least the theory for you. Now you know. The theory surrounding North Korea being an actual utopia, Wakanda, and us just being propagandized by the Western culture to think that maybe you don't want to be like those guys. Like, you want to, you want to stay with your democracy and your freedom of speech. Don't come over here to the dark side where, where, you know, we have the worst haircuts ever and satirical movies that we push out as propaganda to outside countries so they don't know that we have access to trillions of dollars of resources and advanced technology.  I don't know.  I mean, I kind of know,  but I don't know.  And with that. True Grace of God Pastor Chad Wagner There are many voices in the world and most of them are of deceiving spirits. The Bible is clear on that. In fact, there is only ONE VOICE we need to listen to and that is voice of Jesus as we hear by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen! When we learn to discern the promptings of the Holy Spirit, we are able to minister to others and pray effectively with others. We are able to discern between “good and evil” and when things being presented are not Biblically grounded in the Word of God or when things are actually proclaiming the Truth from the Word of God. One man who has taken this to the next level is Pastor Chad Wagner. Chad is the pastor of the “Excelsior Springs Church” which is an Independent Baptist Church located in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Chad is also the author of a great book titled, “The True Grace of God.” This book uses scripture to expound upon the “True Grace of God” while refuting the errors of both Arminianism and Calvinism. Amen! To open this great discussion, help me welcome to the program Pastor Chad Wagner!  Pastor, thank you for taking the time to join us today! First question I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Chad Wagner?” In preparing for our interview today, I noticed you were in the Army and even trained at Fort Bliss, Texas, my old stomping grounds for a few years.  What was your MOS in the Army? I always take the time to honor those who served this nation in the military. So thank you for your service.  The military veterans hold a special place in my heart, mainly because of my 12 years of service as well. But I just wanted to take that minute to honor your service. Let's talk about your book, “The True Grace of God.” Why did you write this book and why publish it now? One thing I found on your website is the definition of salvation from Jesus' own Words, where he said in John 3:36, “…he that believes on the Son HAS eternal life.”  Not “gets eternal life” but HAS it – already!  Because Faith comes by HEARING and true hearing ONLY COMES by the Word of God.  Share with our audience how that revelation became true for you… How did the Lord grow your faith as you studied scriptures in preparing the manuscript for this book? Explain the layout of “The True Grace of God.” From what I took away, you take certain topics and then discuss them from what the Bible has to say, plainly, in scripture… then compare the Arminian and the Calvinistic positions on the same scriptures. Correct? What is the #1 takeaway you would like your readers to understand after reading “The True Grace of God?” This sounds like a book that needs to be on the book shelves and desks of pastors around the country. They may have their toes stepped on though when reading the Truth's contained in your book. But I always say in my sermons, “If you don't want your toes stepped on, don't put your feet out from under the desk.” Amen! A Brand in Your Hand Glenn Rudin If you are in business, or you have a podcast, etc. – you are establishing your brand. This brand is what distinguishes you from others out in the world. If I mention the word, “COKE” – what comes to mind. For the majority of you, probably the soda drink, “Coca-Cola.” But what if nobody knew what that was? I remember, when I first joined the Army. I was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas for basic training. We finally earned our first 2 hour pass. I headed to the snack bar to have some of that GOOD FOOD that I had missed the past month or so. I went to the counter and asked for “A pop of coke.” The lady looked at me as if I was speaking French. She said, “What do you want?” I said “A pop, please.” She said, “What's that?” I said, “A coke. A drink?” She then said, “OH, you want a soda?” You see, in Michigan, it's called “pop.” Down south, it's called “soda.” There are some that may have thought of “cocaine” when I said “coke.” But the majority, I hope, though of Coca-Cola. Did you imagine the red and white can? Or the slender bottle? Or the dark drink with bubbles and the glass sweating a little bit because its cold? That is all branding. What is YOUR BRAND?
