https://go.dok.community/slack https://dok.community/ From the DoK Day EU 2022 (https://youtu.be/Xi-h4XNd5tE) Redis is a widely used open-source in-memory data store and cache that has become a key component in the development of scalable microservice systems. While all of the main cloud providers provide fully managed Redis services (Amazon ElastiCache, Azure Cache for Redis, and GCP Memorystore), it may also be simply implemented in Kubernetes if you require additional control over the Redis configurations. This session will lead you through setting up a Redis cluster on Kubernetes with data persistence. The lesson would concentrate on establishing a "prod"-ready Redis cluster that considers storage and persistence even after restarts and discusses recommended practices and considerations. With the help of monitoring and hardware optimizations for your cluster, you'll learn about measuring your performance and best practices for Redis on Kubernetes. We would conclude whether operators or Helm chart will be a more mature option for your Data on Kubernetes needs with Redis and a few tips as a production checklist. From cloud security providers to open source, trust has become the foundation from which an organization's security is built. But with the rise of cloud-native technologies such as containers and infrastructure as code (IaC), it has ushered in new ways to build applications and requirements that are challenging the traditional approaches to security. The changing nature of the cloud-native landscape is requiring broader security coverage across the technology stack and more contextual awareness of the environment. But how should teams like Infosec, DevOps rethink their approach to security? In this episode of The New Stack Makers podcast, Guy Eisenkot, co-founder and vice president of product at Bridgecrew, Barak Schoster Goihman, senior director, chief architect at Palo Alto Networks and Ashish Rajan, head of security and compliance at PageUp and producer and host for Cloud Security Podcast preview what's to come at Palo Alto Network's Code to Cloud Summit on March 23-24, 2022, including the role of security and trust as it relates to DevOps, cloud service providers, software supply chain, SBOM (Software Bill of materials) and IBOM (Infrastructure Bill of Material),Alex Williams, founder and publisher of The New Stack hosted this podcast.
https://go.dok.community/slack https://dok.community/ ABSTRACT OF THE TALK Helm allows you to install packages in your cluster, much like you would use apt, yum on your laptop. Just define the components that you want to install in your application, and it will take care of the installation and configuration of these components, saving you from headaches. This talk will go through the package manager for Kubernetes and its components. In the end, we would deploy an application with Helm to our cluster with Portainer. The European Collaboration Summit and European Cloud Summit 2021 happened November 29th - December 1st 2021 in Düsseldorf, Germany. There were speakers and attendees from all over the world, talking about collaboration, Microsoft 365, as well as cloud technology such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. I was there as a speaker talking about building bots on Microsoft 365 using Bot Framework, Bot Framework Composer and Power Virtual Agents. There were also sessions on Microsoft Teams, Azure and so much more! I produced a video covering my time at the Summit, but it didn't make a lot of sense to post the audio of that video as a podcast episode, so instead, I've recorded my thoughts on the Summit as a separate, audio-only version. This covers much the same information as the video. You can watch the video at: https://youtu.be/nxh86cfddps

Cloud computing dominates the IT industry as more vendors, partners, and customers adopt cloud-based services. According to Gartner, total worldwide cloud spending will top $431 billion this year, and it continues to grow at rates between 8 and 9 percent annually. Suffice it to say that cloud computing is a juggernaut that shows no sign of slowing anytime soon. Cloud computing wasn't always this way. Just a decade ago, Ingram Micro created its cloud computing division – Ingram Cloud – with much promise of growth, but also with a fair amount of apprehension. When Ingram held its first Cloud Summit in 2009, it didn't have the marquee brands or high attendance. Ingram knew cloud computing was the next big thing, but the distributor didn't know how it would unfold or how fast the channel would adopt it. With a decade of experience under her belt, Ingram Micro Cloud's Renee Bergeron joins POD2112 to reflect on the early days of developing a specialized cloud distribution division, the technology, trends that have changed over the years, and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for vendors, solution providers, and end users.
