Trip Report: Walt Disney World December 2022The latest from Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park, including crowd levels along with the good parts and the not-so-good parts. Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party worth it?Also, an update on EPCOT Festival of the Holidays and the Candlelight Processional 2022 edition. Is the dining package worth doing?Our thoughts on this and the current state of Club Level at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and more in our latest Walt Disney World trip report.--Disney's Grand Floridian Resort Will Get Some Updates in 2023The resort has been receiving some grand touches that weave familiar storybook charm into the Victorian elegance of this flagship resort. Guest rooms are currently being updated as we speak with more to come as the beloved Grand Floridian ushers in its 35th year of magic. The ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby, which will maintain the classic theming guests know and love with some fresh new enhancements.--What's Cooking at Disney's BoardWalkThere's a new coffee shop opening soon on the BoardWalk called Carousel Coffee. This new location will be good spot for Joffrey's coffee beverages, tea options, and indulgent pastries.The menu will include a Dark Cherry Mocha Frozen Blended Coffee with Whipped Cream. This iconic cherry flavor is known in seaside getaways and is a staple of coffee shops, delis, and ice cream parlors.There will be seasonal coffees as well, such as a Cinnamon Bun Frozen Blended Coffee with Whipped Cream. The Nitro Cold Brew Coffee is a freshly batched, extra smooth, dark-roasted cold brew coffee infused with nitro. This one aims to capitalize on the popular nitro craze of cold brews.For tea lovers, Carousel Coffee has a Pomegranate-Green Tea Lemonade featuring fresh-squeezed lemon juice blended with pomegranate green tea and a touch of agave. The restaurant and bakery will serve cookies, French macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, and cheesecakes in addition to the handmade cakes.--Disney's DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is Now Ready to PlayJoin Scrooge McDuck, his nephews and friends as they travel EPCOT World Showcase on a quest to find the Seven Plunders of the World —and return them to their rightful owners. For this expedition there are treasures are hidden in each country pavilion: Mexico Norway China Germany Japan France United Kingdom Each country has three assignments and one finale; so each mission takes 25-30 minutes to complete. You can even replay countries if you want because there are variables in missions (you might not always get the same one). The Mariachi Cobre has been entertaining guests traveling around Epcot's World Showcase since opening day making them one of the best-known Mariachi bands in the world. The internationally-acclaimed performers share that opening day distinction with only the Voices of Liberty. The Mariachi Cobre started in 1971, a full 10 years before Epcot Opening Day. It was formed by Randy Carrillo with the support of his younger brother Steve, his friend Mack Ruiz, and musical arranger, Frank Grijalva. Mariachi played in Anaheim at Disneyland for a Cinco De Mayo event not long after they became an opening day addition to Epcot where they have been playing ever since. The group has worked with such renowned artists as Linda Ronstadt, Julio Iglesias, Vicki Carr, Lucha Villa, Lola Beltran, Ana Gabriel, Guadalupe Pineda, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Rocio Banquells, and Beatriz Adriana. The Fab 50 character statues have all finally been announced and are starting to be installed in the parks. The Vault Collection of merchandise is coming to WDW for the 50th Anniversary and includes some cool retro items. Disney gave a behind the scenes look at the making of the original song ‘You Are the Magic', which will be played during ‘Disney Enchantment', the new nighttime show premiering at Magic Kingdom for the 50th Anniversary. Disneyland announced a new holiday after hours event called ‘Disney Merriest Nites' debuting in November.

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier Steakhouse at EPCOT*Recipe from Disney Parks BlogIngredients:1/2 pound of bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces1 medium red onion, cut into 1/4-inch pieces3 celery ribs, cut into 1/4-inch pieces4 tablespoons butter1 cup all-purpose flour3 cups chicken stock4 cups milk1 pound white cheddar cheese, grated1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauceCoarse salt, freshly ground pepper to taste1/2 cup warm Canadian golden lager or any pale lager-style beerChopped scallions or chives, for garnishDirections:In a 4- or 5-quart Dutch oven, cook bacon, stirring, over medium heat for about 5 minutes, or until lightly browned. Add red onion, celery, and butter and sauté until onion has softened, about 5 minutes. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for about 4 minutes over medium heat.  Whisk in chicken stock and bring to boil for 1 minute. Reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.Add milk and continue to simmer for 15 minutes. Do not boil after milk is added.Remove from heat and add cheese, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Blend with immersion blender until cheese is melted and soup is smooth. Stir in warm beer.  If the soup is too thick, thin with some warm milk.Serve the soup hot, garnished with chopped scallions or chives.

In episode 57, listener Andres joins the guys to give his review of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. Tom is back from his WDW trip and discusses his thoughts on Old Key West, character experiences and his daughter’s first time at WDW. Andres gives a review of Galaxy’s Edge including a spoiler free review of Oga’s Cantina and Smuggler’s Run. FastPass tier changes are coming to Hollywood Studios with the arrival of Galaxy’s Edge. The guys debate the reasoning behind these changes and how permanent they may be. The guys discover that there is a Photopass studio at Disney Springs which allows for pictures in different Disney Parks locations. Rafiki’s Planet Watch is reopening on July 11th with a new Animation Experience which will teach guests to draw some of Disney’s most famous characters. Rumors of a new Epcot World Showcase pavilion are starting to come up again. This time the rumor is that Disney will immediately start building a Brazil themed pavilion which will include a store and a restaurant, but no attraction to start. The guys discuss their thoughts on this rumor. Another rumor that made big headlines recently was that Disney is planning on demolishing both the Land and Living Seas pavilions at Epcot. The guys debate the merits of this rumor.

            Join Howie and Ryan as they travel the world today.  Well, maybe not the world, but the world showcase pavilions at E.P.C.O.T.  Starting at Mexico and working all the way through to Canada, Ryan and Howie share what their thoughts are on the current offerings at each location and then share what Disney could do to improve each pavilion's child appeal.  Though both agree that there is a lot to learn and do for both adults and children at each pavilion, there are some things that could be done to increase the appeal and desire to go back to each pavilion and discover more.  For example, could Japan benefit with putting in a thrill ride like a Mount Fuji roller coaster?  Well, today Howie and Ryan will dream big and play armchair Imagineer as they redesign and plus each pavilion with what they think will bring in the crowds.  We hope you enjoy today’s World Showcase dreaming and like always, if you have a comment or suggestion about today’s topic, let us know by commenting on iTunes, Facebook, or send us an email at MyDisneyClass@gmail.com.

Via Napoli, located next to Tutto Italia Ristorante, the restaurant in the Italy pavilion in Epcot World Showcase at Walt Disney World Resort, is the first authentic Italian pizzeria to ever open in the park. Join Lou Mongello from WDW Radio as he visits the restaurant on its opening day, talks with Patina Restaurant Group CEO Nick Valenti, and samples the flavors and culture of Italy in this new Walt Disney World dining experience Via Napoli features a selection of classical Neapolitan pizzas, created water calibrated specifically to the pH found in Naples, Italy. A unique feature at Via Napoli is the wood-burning ovens, which are named after the three active volcanoes in Italy -- Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius and Stromboli. Each oven is sculpted with the "face of the volcano" -- reflecting the gods whose mythology surrounds each volcano's history.
