One difference is that you currently can't use MagicMobile for your room key. However, there is another feature within the MDE app that allows you to unlock your room door with the app. MagicBands MagicBands have functionality like the Key to the World Cards, but they also have a long range RFID system for capturing ride photos and linking them directly into your account. What I've learned is that the long range RFID requires a battery and that it will go out after a couple of years, but the short range RFID – for things like entering the parks as your park ticket and so forth, does not require a battery and so that part of your MagicBand will still work. Key to the World Cards A Free alternative to using your phone or buying a MagicBand. Here is what you can do with Key to the World Cards: Unlock your Disney Resort hotel room door Enter theme parks (with linked valid theme park admission and park reservation) Connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account Gain access to virtual queues (currently in use for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind) Redeem Lightning Lane ride reservations booked via Genie+ or the a la carte purchase option Charge to your Disney Resort hotel folio during your stay MagicBand Plus The MagicBand Plus really has two sides to it, the original MagicBand side that works the same as the original MagicBands, even if the battery is run down, and the “Plus” side that incorporates all of the additional features and requires your battery to be charged in order to access them. That includes the special effects (such as for the 50th Anniversary Statues), minigames, interaction with the shows, and so forth. If the battery runs out, those won't work but the original MagicBand features will still work. This is so exciting for us because we have seen it at the Village and it was absolutely amazing. In some cases, rides were imported from other places – a key example I'm thinking about in this case is how the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel was built in 1917 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. Before it ended up at Walt Disney World, it enjoyed runs at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan, and then Olympic Park in Irvington, New Jersey, before being bought by Disney in 1967.Many of the early Disney attractions focused on how the Disney Imagineers would take common items and put them to extraordinary use in making a ride “come to life”. Some key examples are the use of mirrors in The Haunted Mansion and the use of lights and colored paper to give the illusion of fire in Pirates of the Caribbean. However, all of these early concepts still revolved around mechanical rides that didn't vary from one ride to another.With the advancement of computers, though, that changed how rides could be designed and how the technology really changed how attraction junkies like us were able to experience the rides. Episode 100 - Our 100th Episode of On the Road with Mickey! Our 100th Episode! Hey everyone, I'm Mike, she's Sophie, and that's Brenda, and we're On the Road with Mickey! This is our 100th Episode for December 13, 2021, and our feature topic is Our 100th Episode of On the Road with Mickey! We started the podcast with our first episode way back on January 6, 2020, when it was just Sophie and I, and today is a milestone episode after reaching episode 100! Price: $4.99Brenda: Over at Disneyland, Disney Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane came to Disneyland Resort on December 8th.
