Welcome to the first episode of Raw Health Rebel's new season! I am so excited for this episode because on a personal level I can't quite explain how much Emma and Eleanor from the Reconnected have helped me on my healing journey - it was an absolute honour to have them both on.  With a unique blend of science and spirituality, Emma and Eleanor are the co-founders of a global movement known as The Reconnected. Family Counsellor, Play Therapist and Breathworker Eleanor together with Self Published Author, Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Breathworker and Theta Healer Emma, have built a community of families that are changing the course of their children's future, co-regulating more effectively, and forming new patterns in their homes. We discuss how the mother's central nervous system is so important to the entire household and how our body remembers everything, even if consciously we don't. We discuss how we can release subconscious emotions and  trauma and even use these methods  to up level us to the next stage of wellbeing. We discuss how we connect with our children and the profound experience that I had when I implemented The Reconnected's connected play with my daughter and integrating it with homeopathy. We also talk about children in this new earth, whether they are becoming more strong willed or sensitive, or is there something bigger going on? Make sure you sign up to the FREE Kids Nervous System Reset - starts October 16th 2023.  This will help you to create true regulation for your kids, a state where they feel safe, calm and think about themselves and their world in a positive way. https://thereconnected.com/kids-nervous-system-reset/ RECONNECTED PARENTING COURSE - starts 30th October 2023What if you could become the parent you've always wanted to be, in just 6 weeks? The Neuro-sequential Model of Therapeutics was developed by Dr. Bruce Perry. It is a developmentally sensitive neurobiologic -informed approach to clinical problem solving. It is an approach that integrates core principles of neurodevelopment and traumatology to inform work with children, families, and the communities in which they live. This model examines how early childhood trauma and adversity can impact the organization of children's brains during key developmental phases. As a child grows into adulthood, the effects from early adversity can have significant impacts in the areas of attachment, the ability to self-regulate, and particularly in the adult's interactions with others. With the surge in people getting dogs during lockdown, Emily Dean, broadcaster and host of ‘Walking The Dog with Emily Dean’ joins Anita to discuss her shih-tzu called Raymond, the trend for ‘pandemic puppies’ and the unique relationship between women and their dogs. Newspaper reports from the weekend suggest that Prince Charles, Harry, William and Kate spent a couple of hours at Frogmore Cottage after the funeral of Prince Phillip on Saturday, presumably hoping to clear the air after what has been a turbulent time for the Royal family. Whatever your background - family rifts can be very painful, sometimes lasting years and often beyond anyone's memory of why they originally fell out. What should you do if you want to reconcile? How do you make that initial approach? Anita is joined by Dee Holmes, Family Counsellor with Relate and Mamta Saha, practising psychologist. More than fifteen thousand people have emailed their experiences of sexual harassment and assault in school as pupils or past pupils on the ‘Everyone‘s Invited’ website but what about assault by pupils towards teachers? We hear one female teacher’s experience of being sexually assaulted at school, and from Jennifer Moses the National Official for equality and training at the Teaching Union the NASUWT. 300 years ago this month, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu deliberately infected her three year old daughter with a dose of smallpox – in other words she inoculated her – and was the first to do so in the West. Her role in the race to halt the spread of the virus was largely unacknowledged at the time. She should be recognised for the pioneer that she was says Jo Willett who has written her biography ‘The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu’.

How chronic pain can affect both sexual and emotional intimacy, and remembering that communication is key. This programme is supported by an educational grant from the Tillyloss Trust. Along with food, shelter and clothing, sexual expression is one of the basic human needs. It allows us to express love and fulfils our need for human connection, but for the 14.3% of people in the UK living with moderately or severely disabling chronic pain, sex can be met with trepidation and anxiety.* This is understandable, as it is estimated that 75% of those that live with chronic pain experience sexual dysfunction.* There can also be a certain amount of embarrassment in discussing chronic pain and its effect on sexual activity with healthcare professionals, especially if they don’t have the skills to address these issues. This is why Pain Concern has updated its sex and chronic pain leaflet with authors Katrine Petersen, senior physiotherapist, and Dr Sarah Edwards, clinical psychologist, who specialise in abdominal pelvic pain at the Pain Management Centre, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You can find the leaflet on our website here: http://painconcern.org.uk/sex-chronic-pain-leaflet/ In this edition of Airing Pain, Paul speaks to Dr Edwards and Petersen about the major difficulties patients experience when it comes to living with chronic pain and managing sexual intimacy and techniques that can be used to combat them (you can find these techniques in our leaflet). Denise Knowles, family counsellor and psychosexual therapist working with relationship support charity Relate, speaks about her experiences of how relationships can be affected not only by physical pain, but by mental pain as well. She also stresses the importance of the distinction between ‘sex’ and ‘intimacy’.
