This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from my own journey - “Sometimes it's a whisper to change how you work or how you live. It's not like ambition or ego or what the world tells us we should want. The purpose impulse is something deeper. It's innate. It's the voice of your spirit calling you back into alignment with who you really are. And while it may be quiet at first, it's persistent. If you ignore it, it doesn't disappear. It waits. It returns. It taps you on your shoulder, so to speak, whispering, this isn't it. There's something more.” You know that moment when everything on paper looks great - your career, your accomplishments, your life - and yet something inside still feels off? In this solo episode, I'm naming that feeling. I call it the purpose impulse, and I share my own story of how it showed up for me years ago while working in child protective services. It was quiet at first, but eventually, it became impossible to ignore. I'll walk you through what it feels like, why it matters, and how it could be guiding you toward something deeply real and meaningful in your own life. I also share a powerful moment that changed everything for me - a moment that helped me recognize that the path I was on no longer fit, even though it looked right from the outside. If you've ever felt like you're going through the motions, even while succeeding, this conversation is for you. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: You'll learn how to recognize the subtle signs that you're out of alignment, even when everything looks “fine.” You'll hear a deeply personal story that helps explain what the purpose impulse really feels like, and why it matters. You'll get a simple, reflective question to help you reconnect with what your inner voice has been trying to tell you. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from Tara Landes. She says – “I think once you've reached that pinnacle or if you're feeling like it's, it's empty or it's not enough, or even if you haven't reached the pinnacle but you're feeling somewhat unfulfilled, I really think that we're social creatures, and we have to find others to share that journey and passion with. Whatever it is, I just I really think that that's what kinda gets missed. We get so caught up on measuring success in terms of money or promotions. And so, really, I think if you're feeling a lack of purpose and a lack of passion, it's time to reach out into the community and find a way to be of service. You'll get way more back than you ever put in.” Tara Landes is the founder of BellRock Benchmark Inc., a Canadian management consulting firm that helps business leaders solve their most challenging problems and implement lasting organizational change. After years of working with small businesses across North America, she returned to her hometown of Vancouver, only to realize that the job she wanted didn't exist - so she built it herself. Drawing from both psychology and business management, Tara has become a trusted advisor to over 300 small business leaders. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: You'll hear how one woman turned a career crossroads into a thriving consulting business, without having a “perfect plan” in place. If you've ever felt unfulfilled despite success, Tara shares how finding purpose can come from leaning into your natural strengths, and helping others. You'll get a smart, practical take on building community, navigating hard times, and how being curious about what feels fun can lead to your purpose. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from Laura Zavelson. She says – “My advice or my thought would be if you have any interest in entrepreneurship or any seed of an idea, honor that and explore it because there are a lot of different paths your life can take, and there are ways to derisk entrepreneurship and make it more of a calculated risk rather than something, you know, you're just jumping into the unknown. And especially if you have experience in networking and you're a natural leader like the women you described. But if there's a group of people you'd like to help and a problem that you can solve, there are ways to explore that that can help reduce the risk. And you might unlock some real freedom for yourself to do something that lights you up.” Laura Zavelson is an MBA, a self-described corporate finance escapee turned serial entrepreneur, former professor of entrepreneurship, and business strategist. She helps Gen Xers - especially women - who've been laid off, pushed out, or burned out, turn their hard-earned experience into thriving coaching, consulting, or expert-based businesses. With 25 years of entrepreneurial experience behind her, Laura is committed to helping women create financial stability, flexibility, and freedom in their next chapter. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: If you're a high-achieving woman in transition, Laura shares practical and relatable advice for starting something new - even if it's been a while since you tried. You'll learn why your career experience is more valuable than you think, and how it can be the foundation for a business that supports your life and values. Laura offers thoughtful encouragement for anyone who's ever wondered, “Do I really have something to offer?” (Spoiler: Yes, you absolutely do.) She now helps authors bring meaningful stories into the world, blending her deep publishing expertise with spiritual insight to guide them through both the practical and emotional sides of writing. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from Sabine Schoepke. She says: “My biggest advice is don't try to get all of the answers. Like, do one tiny little step at a time. Take inventory of, okay, what's feeling good? What's feeling good for me physically and what's not? Change that. Because I really do believe that our feelings are our superpower, are the greatest power that we have. The feelings that are good and the feelings that don't feel good because they show us what's not right. So check-in. Take little steps into the directions that feel good and take a step back from the ones that don't feel good. And you will see that when you take little steps, the next one is gonna present itself. Things are gonna magically fall into place or show up in your life when it's like, oh, wow. So it doesn't need big leaps, and it doesn't need all of the answers. Don't wait for that. Take initiative, take inventory, and take action.” Sabine Schoepke is a dynamic entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience now dedicated to helping others redefine midlife and create aligned financial freedom. A trailblazer and disruptor, Sabine sold her latest company and retired at 51, shifting her focus to guiding others. "Every day, you ignore that inner voice. Every day, you tell yourself, well, this is just how it is, you are risking more than you realize. You are risking your health. You are risking your energy. In this second episode of my special three-part series, I'm breaking down what you're really risking when you stay in a role or life that no longer fits. And when we can see that in ourselves, then we can see it in other people and see where we fit, because I feel like this whole world, I don't know about you, it's like this big puzzle and we're all these little pieces trying to fit somewhere. And when we find where we fit, and if you do puzzles, you know how satisfying it is when you find that one weird little shaped puzzle piece that has all those weird angles, and it snaps right into place. And then all of a sudden, the picture falls into place and you see what it's gonna be, not just because it's on the box. You are the gift. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from Leezel Ramos. She says: "There is no one right way, but there is an intentional way. Right? So sometimes, like, the best advice I like to offer is to utilize a both and approach. Do the internal work of discernment and be in community with trusted mentors and peers who can offer insight you might not be aware of, like when you light up or how you've grown over time. Identify your strengths and understand which of them brings you joy and which don't. Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you want to do it all the time. And be unwavering in your values and honor changes to your life priorities." Leezel Ramos is the Executive Director of Career and Professional Development at Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles. With a deep commitment to career formation, leadership development, and social justice, she has spent her career helping students—especially first-generation and underrepresented students—turn their passions into meaningful careers. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from what I truly believe - “For many women, these same markers of success can, paradoxically, begin to feel like a cage, trapping them in a life that no longer aligns with their authentic selves. This misalignment isn't a failure. It's a signpost. Recognizing these signs is an important step for moving forward and finding fulfillment and true purpose.” In this episode, I share a personal story about how I discovered my own misalignment. My body was giving me stress-induced signs, and then my father's passing brought on a deeper emotional wake-up call. As I reflect on that experience, I talk about how so many high-achieving women, like me, define success by external markers—even when those accomplishments start to feel hollow or out of step with who we really are. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: Discover how to recognize subtle signs of misalignment in your life, from physical symptoms like stress and fatigue to emotional detachment. Learn actionable steps, like journaling and self-reflection, to uncover areas where you might be going through the motions instead of living authentically. Find encouragement to prioritize alignment with your true self and embrace a life of fulfillment, meaning, and purpose—without discarding your achievements. If there's been a nagging feeling that something is missing—or a quiet sense that you're meant for more—this episode offers encouragement and clarity for taking the next small step toward living in alignment with your authentic self. This week's How She Finds Purpose insight comes from a belief I hold close: “True purpose isn't about a specific job, a specific title, or career. It's not something you find out there. Purpose is about being true to your authentic self. It's about knowing who you are at your core and expressing that truth through the decisions you make, the work you do, and the life you live." In this solo episode, I share a personal story about how witnessing my mother's unfulfilled dreams shaped a lifelong promise to pursue work that aligns with purpose. That restless search for meaning—so familiar to many high-achieving women—led to a liberating realization. Purpose isn't tied to a job title or career path. Instead, it comes from staying true to who we are at our core. Here are 3 reasons to tune in: Discover why purpose isn't something to “find” and what that shift in thinking could mean for your life and work. Find out why so many high-achieving women feel unfulfilled, even with success, and how external expectations can get in the way. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from myself, Dr. Robin. I say: “True purpose, deep meaning, and profound fulfillment come from living in alignment with your authentic self, expressed through your passions, your values, your natural abilities, in service to someone, or something, beyond yourself.” In this solo episode, I'm sharing a page from my upcoming book, Becoming a PurposeMAKER, and diving into a topic that's close to my heart: the myths about true purpose that may be holding you back. For years, I believed purpose was tied to my job, a title, or some external milestone. But after more than 20 years of ups and downs, I've discovered that true purpose is so much more than that—and it's not something “out there” waiting to be found. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: Learn why purpose isn't a singular destination and how to embrace purpose as an ongoing journey. Discover why external achievements can never fully define your sense of meaning and fulfillment. Explore 4 key questions to reflect on as you start aligning with your authentic self. If you've ever wondered if you're chasing the wrong idea of purpose, this episode is for you. Let's break down those misconceptions and start living a life that truly reflects who you are. After years of staying home to care for her son's medical needs, she suddenly had more time and space on her hands when he started school. Through life coaching, Bethany gained the clarity and direction she needed to move forward with confidence. She rediscovered her identity, tapped into her purpose, and found joy in embracing what this next chapter could hold. If you're facing a new season and feeling unsure of your next steps, this episode is for you. This week's “How She Finds Purpose” insight comes from Else Johnson. She says - “I think fundamentally, the first thing that she has to do is accept the fact that she deserves it. So many women, especially high achieving women that I speak with, they're like, yeah. But I should be grateful for what I have. Look at what I've achieved. It's amazing. But it's okay to admit to yourself and the world that it's not enough for you. Nothing you do will feel meaningful if you don't believe you deserve it.” Else Johnson is a mindset expert and speaker who helps high-achieving executives and entrepreneurs get back on track and reignite the passions they once had so they can experience more purpose and fulfillment in their businesses and lives. Else understands that highly driven leaders often feel they're not fulfilling their highest potential, and she is committed to changing that through her business, Else Johnson Coaching and Consulting, LLC. Here are 3 reasons why you should listen to this episode: You'll hear how life's transitions, both big and small, can carry hidden lessons and opportunities for growth. Else shares practical advice on how to shift from “busyness” to living a truly engaged and purpose-driven life. You'll learn why admitting what you truly want — and knowing you deserve it — is key to finding deeper fulfillment.
