Grab your briefcase of your biggest words, gaming is doing the thing again. Bungie has been caught stealing art, but it's not just art, it's the whole look of Marathon. Ai Vader is dropping F-bombs in Fortnite. WoW housing is real, though they were a bit secretive about what could be shared. Magic the Gathering is doing great though. All this and more.
Sick hosts, but sick games! GTA 6 has a release date and trailer 2 is out. World of Warcraft is giving players a way to play with a single button. The Final Fantasy Magic the Gathering set is now the fastest selling pre-order ever. Elden Ring Nightreign is looking real good. All this and a big dose of thanks from our sickness addled brains.

The Roundtable assembles once more. All elustrious members have returned: Jesse Cox, Okaymage and Preachgaming. The cloud has lifted and celebrations ring out over the internet as MSQ returns. But who is the real bad of this expansion? Is it the new Calyx or is there a more sinister face in plain view? Will baby king say "I'm in"? Will the crew agree on Arcadion shipping? That last one wont happen, but the rest will!
Switch 2 is switching it up, with more expensive games? The line-up is unconvincing, but has some mysterious gems. Our WoW Hardcore adventure is underway with Jocat, Squidsena and Girl_DM. Lots of details on our dangerous adventures. FF14 got hard. We've said that before but the expansion keeps getting harder. All this and more.

The things you might gloss over at first glace, but once you dog in for deeper dive… Things that could still be pretty important!Spoiler Levels: Roast Chicken! Roasted to crispy perfection, then flavored with garlic and a hint of lemon, a single scent of this dish is enough to make the mouth water. Jesse Cox returns to the show and we have a big deep dive on the upcoming 7.2 patch named “Seekers of Eternity”. An intense three months of content are lined up ahead of us, including the Occult Crescent field operation, which Jesse is keen to explore the lore gravatas of. Naturally eyes turn to the MSQ on the horizon, with cooks a' plenty on a moment to moment breakdown of the trailer. You know there is more, cause Jesse is here. A lot more!
Wilds and Wyoming! Garrett and Kyle return from giving a lecture at the University of Wyoming and tell stories of their journey. Garrett got touched by snow, Kyle praises Steamdeck. Wilds Chapter 3 spoiler warning! We have a passionate chat about the story so far in Wilds and it's hits and misses. T-rex doesn't want to be fed, he wants to hunt. Yoshi-P is “stepping down”, “fired” or none of the above. In fact we have some hot FF14 news thats about as scandalous as the sun rising. All this and more.

Hello Adventurers! As Valentione's Day has just passed us by, we thought now would be a great time to show some of the characters in Final Fantasy XIV some love. As it just so happens, GPOSERS had kicked off the month with a post on Bluesky that links to a FFXIV character Tiermaker. And thus, after recording for three or so hours… and many… many more hours of editing after the fact, we now present to you The Official Carbuncle Chronicle Character Rankings: From ARR to Endwalker. But also, we talk a little bit about what we are excited for in the upcoming patch of 7.2: Seekers of Eternity.Spoiler Levels: Archon Loaf! Baked with either fish or vegetable flour, this fluffy loaf of rye bread is?from a nutritional standpoint?wholesome indeed. OK, so rather than fish or vegetable flour, this no-less fluffy loaf of a podcast is baked with love (and hate) for the many great (and terrible) NPCs that form the backbone of the MMORPG we all enjoy! So spoilers will, in fact, be aplenty.OSMnotesThank you to GPOSERS for the great idea prompt for the podcast topic! But without further ado, here's that final tier ranking image:But also, Time Cues! Due to some family heath issues that have been sapping all my time this week, I haven't been able to get an episode together, even on an emergency basis, so here a from the Patreon Vault to tide people over. I hope to be back next week.
Like the monsters hunt, this episode is sneaking up on ya. Garrett and Kyle spend the week diving DEEP into Monster Hunter World, even exploring the beta for Monster Hunter Wilds last night. In short, smitten. After a rough run in with the game 2 years ago, the GG boys forsook the hunt, but have fallen in love with this meety RPG. During a quite time for MMOs, this MMO Lite has been promise, if their 2018 entry is any proof. Emails and more.
Hello Adventurers! And wait for it, no longer! Since we've gotten the vast majority of things one can do in the current patch that is 7.1: Crossroads, we figured now would be a great time to talk about it. But not only that, we also delve into some of things that we are looking forward coming to Final Fantasy XIV this year. (And in fact, after we recorded, we learned even more about what is coming soon since there has been a Live Letter all about 7.2: Seekers of Eternity!)Spoiler Levels: Popoto Chips! Victorious and offline. Garrett and Kyle have completed their savage journey for the moment with the downing of Wicked Thunder last night in FFXIV. Their month long journey comes to a close just in time to catch a wave of Monster Hunter Wilds beta play next week. Weapons shall be selected, monsters shall be hit with them. WoW flexes an upcoming housing update in FFXIVs direction. Dinosaurs and more.

Games approach! Xbox Developer Direct, Switch 2, and games-that-feel-safe-from GTA. Garrett and Kyle also enter the news cycle of FF14 and find it full of assumptions. The odd thing is that all these assumptions are true, but it does make for some odd coverage. We do have some facts though. 7.2 live letter approaches and the next big wave of content prepares to hit the game. Emails and more.

Welcome to another exciting episode of the Crystal Core Radio Podcast! Join host Brian and the roundtable guests Elio and Chris as they kick off the new year with engaging discussions about the latest trends and drama in the gaming world. This episode delves into the enticing world of mobile gaming, discussing Brian's experiences with Bellatro and the advantages of gaming on mobile platforms. The conversation takes a turn to MMORPGs, particularly focusing on the state of Final Fantasy 14 and the recent criticism surrounding Ashes of Creation. Elio offers insights into how FF14 is navigating challenges post-Endwalker expansion, while Chris provides his take on Stephen Sharif's MLM-inspired approach to building Ashes of Creation. Speculations about the rumored launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 also heat up the discussion. Brian expresses his hopes for a timely announcement as the trio debates whether the release will dominate 2025 gaming headlines. Capping off the episode with a fun twist, they challenge each other to a game of 20 Questions, highlighting classic games like Chrono Trigger and providing a nostalgic trip down memory lane for both listeners and participants.
Garrett never left, Kyle returns! Garrett has been holding down the fort with the JRPG darling, Metaphor ReFantazio, but had his struggles. Kyle reports on his domestic adventure culminating in a Steam Deck review of Rogue Trader. Apparently while we were “gone” the FF14 doomsaying department was in full blast, but numbers can be deceiving. Supportourbromance.com or we'll put a big head in the sky.
The Grindys, The Golden Gears, Best of 2024. This is the final official podcast record for the year 2024, and we have our own LEGALLY DISTINCT accolades to hand out. A wild and packed year of video games. Who better to dish out the accolades then two dudes who play too much MMO.
The MSQ Roundtable has assembled once more. Preach, Okaymage, and Jesse Cox have all returned to discuss the major story content that was released in the semi-recent “Crossroads” 7.1. The Story following Baby King and everyone's new favorite Jafar Ja lizard. The entire roundtable is now living the current life. Divining what will be released in what patch, what story beats will be covered where and what that means of the future of Final Fantasy as a whole.

We are approaching the Holiday Season, which means it's also the Award Season. Garrett has returned and has opinions on the FFXIV Mobile announcement. Can DLCs be game of the year? Will we have a big sweep? Or will all our favorites walk away a winner.
The Nominees of the Game Awards for 2024 have been announced, and in the game of the year category there is a major piece of DLC. This has gamers asking if DLC should be considered as Game of the Year. Do we give credit to massive DLC campaigns that can stand on their own? Hello Adventurers! While our last episode was all about our journey through Dawntrail as it was happening, this one is looking back at after finishing the Mainline Story Quest (colloquially known as the MSQ). Since we are now in the thick of Patch 7.1: Crossroads, we wanted to make sure to take a beat before the patch hit and get our thoughts out before the game continues to change and grow.Joining us in reminiscing of uh, times not all that long passed, is our pal Umi aka Doug from OSMcast proper. He gives us a blow by blow of all the Jobs he's been playing since the new expansion came out, and came up with some excellent sound design tips! And how about that MSQ , huh? Stuff sure happens, and we talk all about it! Finally, we get ourselves all hyped up for the new patch (which is already out). If you want our thoughts on that however, you'll just have to… Wait for it.Spoiler Levels: Creamy Alpaca Pasta! These rustic handmade noodles are boiled until tender, then tossed in a pan with grilled alpaca fillet and broccoli florets in a cream sauce. This hearty dish is the perfect compliment to both speeding up your spells' cast times, but also for really digging into the spoilers that we chat about in the later portions of the episode.OSMnotesYou know it, you love it, you may even use it! Mr Happy returns to school the boys in Extreme Final Fantasy. After a full week of hardcore progging some midcore content, Garrett and Kyle have questions about boss design, 2 minute windows and more. No better guest for a trip down memory lane than the man who has been here for it all, Mr. Happy.
Top news of the week, 7.1 is incoming for Final Fantasy 14, but that's not all! The final Halloween is here. Garrett watched the big movie of the year and Kyle has played Silent Hill 2. There's a lot of Magic the Gathering on the brain and even some Monster Hunter Wilds viewed from afar. Emails and more!
As we look forward to 7.1, we also look back at the MSQ that was Dawntrail with our friends Preach, Okaymage, and Jesse Cox.
Can it be? 100 episodes of Grinding Gear! Has experienced 100th episodes makers we know whats best for this kind of event, a normal show. There are some big topics around the gaming space this week. MTG art, after a track record, is under fire for using Ai art. A Final Fantasy 14 article on PC gamer is pointing out the Midcore problems with end game. Dragon Age: Veilguard Approaches and hopes begin to rise. All this and a little Dawntrail spoiler mailbag question at the very end.
When last we left out intrepid Florida boys, they were hunkering down for Hurricane Milton on its way to Florida. We have come out the otherside safe but with many stories to tell. Two hosts, two different paths. Video games? We'll get to em next time.
On the eve of Hurricane Milton, we are boarded up and locked in. Florida is bringing out all the stops for Kyle's first season and Garrett is an experienced storm rider. Even with weather on the horizon, it has been a while since we've had an event-free-guest-free episode. Garrett has been getting into Spooky Season and continuing Star Wars Outlaws. Kyle saw (most of) Transformers One and finished Astro Bot. Thank you all for the well wishes and we look forward to podcasting with you on the other side.
We just had our first IRL GG Meet in Orlando, Florida! The podcast this week is the full live show we put on in front of a live crowd. Thanks again to everyone who came out to the show and all of you supporting us through Patreon and YouTube memberships. Without you, we wouldn't be able to put on events like these.
